Bootloader and simlock are two completely separate things. If your bootloader status does not allow bootloader unlocking you will NEVER be able to unlock it. This means that you will not be able to flash CM, AOSP or any other custom kernel based rom on your device.
You can still enjoy stock rom based kernels like the following:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463675
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481248
and root your phone.
Here is a most commonly asked questions video which may clear out some things for you:
Was just checking as my old arc also said unlock not allowed but was unlocked with testpoint unlock & running super jelly bean & custom kernel

test point exploit has been closed.
If it says its not allowed there is no way to unlock it. Allthough it is not related to sim unlock it generally occurs that branded phones are locked and unbranded are can be unlocked.
One main exception is Vodafone UK, they have given me 3 xperia T's and one Z1 on contract, all of which can be unlocked

Can not unlock the boot loader but u can root it, best thing is sell it when get it as new (dont open it) then buy a sim free one from phones 4 u
Mine is vodafone as well mate, bootloader can be unlocked. I've left mine locked as root is available. Didn't want to lose BE etc.
Sent from my C6603 using XDA Premium HD app
How can it be unlocked if its locked?
How did you root it locked? Also what's BE. I'm new to Sony devices lol
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
bravia engine, u can root it without unlocking the boot loader but on yours the boot loader will be locked,
type in *#*#service#*#* then look service info then configuration look at bottom will say if it can be unlocked
Is BE a big loss do you notice it gone?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
i got mine from vodafone and out of the box the bootloader unlock allowed value was yes, however after flashing to uk generic, then rooting it has changed to no, i think this happened during root.
I'm sure I've read on here that it should go back to yes if you unroot and go back to stock.

does it work with another mobile operator? for example, will xperia z vodafone be working with russian mobile operators?
thx!
Should work anywhere but the uk, its only locked to the uk not the rest of the world
what is the difference between locked and not locked bootloader? what does it change?
i always had htc phones new to sony.
Little stuck with a S X 5303.
I have rooted it no worries, but cant unlock it as the flash tool tells me it cant be officially unlocked. Help?
I used the DooMLoRD easy root, but not sure how to apply the custom kernel so I can flash this phone and unlock for any network.
Please advise? Dont want to be stuck on 02....

Have to install a custom recovery before you can install any kernal,
To unlock it buy a unlock code as far as im aware there is no way to do this other then that. I started a thread about unlock on this device before.
Also all the information you need can be found in the sp c5303 forums, Go take a look

Sim unlocking and bootloader unlocking are Completely different.
To flash custom kernels, you need your bootloader unlocked search on Google Sony sp bootloader unlock for guide etc.
To unlock sim to any network then you need to buy a code or take to local phone shop for them to unlock.
Rooting will never give you these options it just allows you to customise your phone, give you control over device.

OK. I may be being thick here. I have googled guides as suggested, but my bootlocker status says NO. So, not possible? And the 2 sites i tried for sim unlock both were unable to get a code and refunded my money...
Help?

Your bootloader is locked because your SIM is locked. Your carrier can give you an unlock code if you're not on contract

Forget about unlocking the bootloader, its not possible. No over/under-clock for you, no CyanogenMod or other goodies.
All carrier branded phones are locked and almost impossible to unlock.

is there chance to have -Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No - when my phone is from shop ? ( not from carrier, not branded)
I think that it's not the matter of branded/not branded etc. beacuse I've seen bootloader unlock allowed: yes after I rooted and installed CWM and TWRP; today I've reverted rooting via SPC and the bootloader unlock allowed is back on: no; so I think someone has to look through it to see if you can override it...

I doubt the Sony bootloader will be cracked any time soon as the Xperia T was never cracked and thats a much older device.
Unfortunately that means no custom kernels/CyanogenMod.
If you buy a factory unlocked device the bootloader will be unlockable/carrier branded devices may be locked and not unlock able.. Pretty simple really.
Sorry that I can't help much.
Un-lock Xpeia SP
If you Un-lock the Xperia SP for all Networks, does this make bootloader Unlock available?
If not, any Ideas why?

Nope. SIM-UNLOCK is separate to bootloader unlock.
It just doesn't.
On some old xperia phones you could open sim and bootloader like xperia arc if you used test point method to unlock sim it unlocked boot loader as well.
2013 xperia models that don't have removable battery are no longer able to use test point so you can't unlock boot loader or sim.
To unlock sim you need code which you cab buy from internet.
To unlock bootloader you need to contact your airtime provider and see if they will help in unlocking bootloader again this needs code but not freely available.

I have C6906 from Bell and i can't wait for bell to release 4.3
can i just flash unbranded 257 using flash tool
and use pc companion to update to 290?
my phone is not sim unlocked yet / never touched boot-loader / didn't even bother rooting it.
I am still on stock 534
thanks in advance guys
yes
As Greg already said - yes.
Branded version is same ROM but without a craps from your carrier.
So, not only you'll be able to flash it without any problems but you'll be very happy when you see that your phone is little bit faster and "cleaner".
Also, if you want to unlock SIM lock (if it's available on your device), you can do that by simple code order via Internet.

I've got the same phone from bell. First thing I did was flash an unbranded ROM. Bell has a few bloat apps that I hate. Best part is if you flash unbranded you don;t need to wait for updates. I got my update through PC Companion the day it was released.
Search the forums please.

Already been discussed here in detail.

I'm also on Bell with a c6906 and have done exactly what you are asking about and you will be fine. In case you didn't know we can't unlock our bootloader so the fix in 4.3 does not benefit us. Still 4.3 is a great update, loving the phone regardless.

I known but TL cannot unlock bootloader
Sent from my LT30p using Tapatalk 2
Why can't? It's jus another mobile device from Sony.
Because TL is a local device
Sent from my LT30p using Tapatalk 2
Almost 99% of TL bootloaders are not unlockable, but there are a few that can be unlocked for some reason . The configuration shows a 'yes' instead of a 'no'. Yet the people get through the unlocking procedure but are stuck because they can't get fastboot to work. It's almost like every TL has its fastboot disabled. Most TLs are AT&T.

I wish I could unlock my bootloader on my old X10a on at&t, there has to be some way to do it. I just can't afford to brick my phone. Keeping lte seems to be the issue because how the bootloader is tied to the driver for the data radio somehow.

You can bootloader unlock it you just have to sim unlock it first, just use the page that they made to sim unlock phones and they should send you the code after that it's a matter of looking up the instructions ^^
