Dear all,
I am desperately looking for a STK.apk from the ICS SDK.
I am currently unable to install the sdk since I have no access to a computer right now.
Can someone please post a link to the latest stk.apk?
Sent from my I9000 using XDA App
Edit:
I have found another STK.apk than the one from post 3. The latter one has been extracted from OneCosmic's ICS Beta 1. It works fine for me as well. Apparently my Dual SIM adapter does not need all functions of STK, so it may not work for sending provider codes.
Anyone who is able to use the attached STK with provider codes, please provide feedback for others.

mmeeetooo i need it plzzzzz
Success
To all it may concern:
I downloaded the STP.apk (SIM ToolKit) from the ICS Apps Dump , copied the apk to "system/app" and changed the permissions to Owner: RW, Group: R, Others: R
To do so, use any Root Explorer app.
As I am not yet allowed to paste links, please PM me if you want me to sent it to you.
Works like a charm now...
Steps:
1. Download 'stk.apk' and copy it somewhere on your phone
2. Move it to '/system/app' with a root enabled file manager
3. Change the permissions as described above
4. Reboot
F.y.i.: Root does not work on my ES File Explorer.
I use 'File Manager HD', cause it's easy to use and it is free.
Dont forget to enable root in the settings.
Permissions can be changed by long press on the file.

Well I am on Onecosmics great RC1 with "updated" kernel, which is also 4.0.3 and it works perfect. It works even better than on GB.
I am using a dual SIM adapter which needs STK to switch between SIMs. On GB Stock, the process crashed from time to time and I had to restart the phone in order to be able to switch SIMs. Now, I doesn't crash anymore.
- Did you copy the file with a root-enabled explorer and assign the correct permissions?
- Do you have any radio related issues on your ICS installation? (e.g. incoming/outgoing calls working, no mobile data issues etc.)
I did all the things above, can't instal it....
Need other version of stk.apk?
Greetz
I don't think that you need another version, since this one is from the ICS System App Dump and it works perfect with 4.03
Do you receive any FCs on the Phone process? Can you copy stk.apk to system/app ? Did you check permissions (i.e. rw-r--r--)? Is the stk.apk still in the correct folder after reboot? Did you reboot?
A detailed description of what happens would be an asset if you want help.
I did everything as described here. Seems that app somehow works, but something isn't like it should be. My confirmation through stk doesnt reach back to server I guess.
STK depends on RIL!

I'm not surprised... this is the same behavior I saw on CyanogenMod 7.
SIM Toolkit is heavily dependent on the Radio Interface Layer (RIL) implementation. As I understand it, the RIL is the hardware/software component which interacts with the phone's modem/baseband in order to call, SMS, 3G, etc. SIM Toolkit and USSD codes are all dependent on separate functions in the hardware, and the software layer must also implement hooks for them to work properly. The original poster's SIM switching gadget might work because the functions it relies on are implemented, while the ones we need are not.
Also, I've noticed that certain operations work on Onecosmic's ICS which don't work on Teamhacksung's, such as *522#, my bank's mobile interface. STK has only ever worked for me on Samsung stock ROMs.
More info about Android's RIL software and how it interacts with the hardware: http://www.netmite.com/android/mydroid/development/pdk/docs/telephony.html
Thanks aorth, for this detailed insight.
So I must consider myself as a 'lucky guy'.
Could the issue be fixed by using or porting a Nexus S modem?

Damn, it won't wok properly then?!
Thx, and I'll keep hoping
I did everything in the steps. It's installed. I can't seem to find it in the app drawer. Nothing in my app drawer is hidden. So, since i can't find it. I can't run it.
Solutions?
Hi, with 'installed' , do you mean 'copied to \system\app' with correct permissions and still there after reboot ?

not sure if this is the right place to ask but has anyone had an issue while on a call the only way yo talk to the person is either on bluetooth or speaker? btw using kernel that came with rc3plus

You must be root and you need a file manager with root access.
c.f. instructions on first page, post #3.
If you are not used to do this kind of stuff, be cautious and follow the instructions step by step. PM me, if you are unsure.
Do it at your own risk. I am not responsible for whatever could be the consequences of your doing.
I've just downloaded and followed the instructions for installation at post #3 and it worked fine! I'm using Onecosmic's ICS RC3.1 in my SGS.
Thanks...

What exactly does not work? Do you have working root access?
If you are not able to copy the files to the specified location, then either your root is not working or you have not enabled it correctly.
In the app I mentioned, you must do the following:
- start 'file manager'
- press left button and select 'settings' from the context menu
- tick 'Root Explorer' and 'Mount system writeable' checkboxes
- allow the app root access whenever asked...

Also I have the phone rooted and am running the TZ 3.5 kernel.

Reboot. You pushed this file? And did remove previous apk and odex file of it?
P.S. If you really need that app to open do this:
1. Make backup in CWM.
2. Flash stock FW with Odin. And do factory reset. Or try with factory reset first, without flashing JB with Odin again, if that do not help, then flash FW.
3. Use app for your needs
4. Root phone again
5. Install TZ 3.5
6. Restore your backup.

I removed the previous two files and copied the one you supplied in it's place.
Ran sd-mail and was able to find the stk app. Unable to run it though.
Then reboot.
After the reboot the sd-maid app was unable to find the stk application like the original ones.

For now I use the Wifi hotspot functionality from my company phone.
I need to do the following:
Choose Roaming services.
Choose Selecteer Mode.
Choose Manueel.
Choose International.
Simcard gets updated.
If you know any app that can do the following then I'm all ears

Solved!
The provider said that my simcard didn't need to be changed because it was of the newer type. So the sim toolkit was not being able to run because it detected the newer type.
Then I explained that I still had no internet. She talked me throug all the settings and they were fiine. On their website there are numerous samples per phone on how to setup this manually.
Is seems that the settings defer for some phones. They told me I had to type "internet" in the access type section while it had to be "default" what I found out by checking the phone of my wife. She has the same provider.
After changing I had my dataconnection.
Thanks for thinking with me!
I have always been big fan of Google Wallet. I had it working on my Note 2, S3, etc. I recently pick up Xperia Z and wanted to see if i was able to get it to work. Last night, i went to 7/11 and bought a drink, the guy behind me was blown away just the fact that i use the phone to pay it..I am on ATT. I've search in the app section for google wallet and no thread about it and wanted to share my experience.
I want to let you all know that i take no credit for this. All information i got is from that XDA and from prereq step 2. Also if you are on corp email, i would suggest remove it and re add after you get google wallet working.
Warning..if you don't know what you doing, please don't do this. this can cause bootloop and many other stuff. Precautionary, please back up..back up...
Here is how i got it to work.
PreReq
1) Phone rooted
2) go here and download latest google release from Modaco. Currently it should be r96-v13.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769083
3) root expolorer - please use this only otherwise you will get boot loop. For more information, follow thread in prereq 2.
Setup
1) Use root explorer and mount as r/w
2) go to /system/ and look for build.prop
3) open with text editor in Root explorer
4) within the file, search look for ro.xxxx, not ro.sem.xxx. look for exactly below.
ro.product.device=c6603
ro.product.name=c6603-1270-7689
ro.product.model=c6603
and replace with
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
5) put the application from prereq step 2 to /system/apps and set permission to 644
6) go to setting,more and check nfc and under wallet select google
7) reboot
8) launch google wallet and follow direction
9) after you get google wallet to work then launch root explorer
10) go to /system and rename the build.prop to build.prop.ori
11) rename build.prop.bak to build.prop
12) reboot
13) money
Please note that i did the exact step and it work for me. I have the xperia z c6603 and i am on ATT. Again i take no credit but just reading up on xda. IF anything, thanks OP in the link i provided.

I have this problem after I try to install google wallet
Also what is mean set permission to 644???
In root explorer hold down on file and go to permissions
4 is read
5 is read/execute (execute is always needed for directories)
6 is read/write
7 is read, write, and execute
The first number is Owner, the second is Group, and the third is Other. Thus 644 is
Read Read Read
Write

I did steps 9-11 and changing build.prop BACK to the Sony settings breaks Google Wallet again, you need to keep the modified version w/ the Google Nexus settings for it to work after a reboot. I tested this and can confirm it works.
Works like a charm!
Works as advertised except that you may not need to download the Google wallet app from modaco as stated above. I did a search on playstore and got the latest version of Google wallet and at first, it allowed me to download it and install but I couldn't use it. I then just changed the name of the model, device etc... and rebooted and it worked!!
Cheers.

Hey mad, im not sure u can help but I do need advise here. Mine is c6602 and im on tmobile 4g. I do all the steps except steps 9 to 11. The build.prop need to be kept as edited to make it work so I can open the app. Finally I get it and I tried the app. See a little yellow title that unsupported device on top. I added and selected my credit card. Then I went to office depot and tried it. With data network on, I make payment and everything go throught and it seemed I got transaction declined. I dont know what is the problem here. Is the rooted z rejeted by wallet recently or. Because of the carrier or the store system?
I really want to use the app so if u know the solution here plz show us.
Sorry to dig up an old thread. I have done this with every ROM I've installed on my Z and it worked every time. I am on AT&T, but I'm not sure if that matters. I even have a corporate Gmail account on this phone and it was unaffected by this process.
If you have trouble, you need to start all the way over. Remove the app from /system/app, fix your build.prop, and reboot. Then start at step one. It works even when you change your build.prop back to the Sony values if you follow the process correctly.
I have Niaboc's ExistenZe Ultra installed, Android 4.2.2, and this still works, just tested now.
If you get tired of the Play Store offering to update it, use Titanium Backup to disassociate it with the Market. You may have to do this several times, but it will stick eventually.
I should mention that com.android.phone complains and fc's a couple times at boot now, but it doesn't seem to cause any ongoing problems. Calls and SMS work just fine. All networking and telephony works as expected.
This same process worked on my Xperia ZL, my Xperia Acro S, and my Galaxy Note 1. Oh, and my Nexus 7. And the Note 2 while I had it.

I'm not sure if the exposed modules and framework are compatible with this phone or not, but you could try installing the exposed framework and the google wallet patch module.
Note: This solution only works on MK2 (4.3)
I have been researching a problem I have had on my SPH-L720 with custom ROMs where screen mirroring with my Samsung TV would not work. Based on a thread I found, I have solved my problem and wanted to share with others who may have a similar problem.
In my searching, I stumbled upon this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50597640
The OP of that thread had several applications that he froze, and made some changes to the Build prop file, and the WFDConfig.Xml file. In the end, I only made one change to the WFDConfig.Xml file, and my screen mirroring started working.
1. Edit /system/etc/WFDConfig.Xml, and make the following change:
Code:
<HDCPValid>0</HDCPValid>
2. Reboot phone, and profit!
My setup is MF9 bootbootloader, NAE baseband, Negalite MK2 ROM.
If I have time this weekend, I will upgrade to Negalite NAE ROM, and test it there.
I take no credit for this solution, and credit the original thread above.
Hope this helps someone!

I copied the file to my PC and used notepad++ to do the edit. Then copied the file back to the system/etc folder on the phone. You'll need root and a root-enabled file manager to write to the system folder. I used Root Browser (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree), but there are several apps that will work.

There are a couple of different ways to edit the file. For me, I used Root Explorer, navigated to the file, long pressed the file name, a menu came up and I chose 'Open in Text Editor'. From there it asked if wanted to mount the filesystem as r/w, I chose yes, edited the file, and saved it.

I just upgraded my phone to the exact same setup. When I look at the config file for NAE, it is a little different. But, I *think* the correct change would be:
Code:
<ContentProtection>
<Valid>1</Valid> [B]<------- Try changing this to 0[/B]
<Version>WFD_HDCP_2_1</Version> <!-- Valid values WFD_HDCP_2_0 and WFD_HDCP_2_1 -->
<CPPort>6789</CPPort>
<EncryptAudio>0</EncryptAudio> <!-- Valid values 0 / 1 to indicate Audio encryption or not -->
</ContentProtection>
I have made that change to my phone, but I am at work now so I will not be able to test this until later this evening. I will post my results when I get home.

The fix in the OP is for 4.3 Jelly Bean. I just upgraded to 4.4 KitKat, and will have to test my theory on which setting to change when I get home.
Thank you!!! worked !!
man i was breaking my head on this one.. and soft bricked the phone a couple times trying to fix this, and to think the fix was so damn easy! :good::good::good:
Well, bad news on NAE (4.4.2) - the fix does not work. Under <ContentProtection>, I tried setting <Valid> to 0. When I mirror, I get a black screen with a message that says "Unable to enable Screen Mirroring. HDCP is not supported by the connected device" I can hear the sound from the phone on the TV, but no picture.
I just updated the OP that this only works with 4.3. I have gone back to Negalite MK2 ROM, and plan to stay there until a solution for NAE is found.
Does anybody have any other ideas on how to make screen mirroring work in 4.4.2?
Well i did update to NAE and tested the "contentprotection" value to 0 , also changed the name from Valid to HDCPValid and nothing , the TV says " the dive supports HDCP ? " or something like that .
under Developer options on KK now has HDCP checking settings. Tested all 3 options with Valid=0 and valid=1 and nothing.

Hey guys,
so I flashed the Android M preview from Vomer, despair M Kernel, and SuperSU and everything is working fine/I have working root access. I am trying to go into the build.prop to edit a few things but every app I use to try and edit it is giving me an error and saying it failed. It is also not saving any changes that I make and try to push through ADB. Does anyone have any idea what is happening here and/or how to fix it?
Thank you in advance.
Try pushing it using and whilst in recovery as a work around. As for the main issue, no idea
I used root explorer(with m and despair kernel) to edit my build.prop, without any issues.
Tried all the major explorer apps while running the M preview on my Nexus 6. None seem to be able to successfully save (some say they did, others report a failed save) the build.prop edit.

sounds like you might not be doing it right. I use root explorer, copy/paste whatever into the build.prop, save it, then reboot for it to take affect. and it works every single time.
I edited mine just fine with a regular Build Prop Editor from the play store. Runing JDX M preview with despair kernel as well. I needed to get rid of the pesky NAV buttons so I could use LMT.
