Headphone Audio Issues - Moto X Q&A

Hello All,
I'm running stock rooted; however, I'm having issues with audio coming out of the headphone jack. I was listening to audio just fine, but now the audio plays from the device speaker, or stutters and pauses as it plays.
I've tried soundabout, however, that didn't work.
I've also cleaned the headphone jack.
I also tried my headphones with another phone and they worked fine.
Faulty headphone jacks?
Thanks.

Possibly a bad jack but you should hear notification sounds through the head phones that's an easy way to find out , I would suspect a software issue. I he had issues with music also, some players stop after skipping songs or just plain stop all together. If you're running a custom equalizer, that could also be the issue, I've had that issue also

I had similar issues as well, using my Note 2 headphones. Worked fine in N2. Switched to Gnex headphones and have had zero issues.

[Q] All sound comes from earpiece instead of speaker

Sometimes my SGS play all the sound from earpiece.
Without earphone pluged in.
Without bluetooth devices.
But it works again after reboot.
Any one knows why?
SGS froyo 2.2 JPD Speed Mod K9A 300
how do u know it plays in earpiece if not plugged in?
meaning no sound at all?
same here
Sometimes my SGS also plays all sounds from the ear piece and not from the speakers. I never experienced this before :S
The sound is coming out the little hole that you plug the earpiece in to ???
jje
Happens after disconnecting from BT
Hi, similar thing happens to me too, but only after disconnecting from my car's stereo via BT. haven't tested on other BT stereo though.
yes. all audio seems to be rerouted from both external speakers (earpiece and rear speakers) to the audio jack or BT channel.
anybody else with this issue?
I once had this problem, but I just rebooted my phone and then it was ok.

[Q] Hissing noise in headphones?

Hey guys,
I've been using an HTC One for two weeks now, and was really looking forward to using it as a music-listening device. However, whenever I'm listening to music on a low volume setting through headphones I can hear a hissing sound that gets louder and softer as the music changes. Since then, I have tested this with another HTC One, various headphones, and have come to the conclusion that something inside the phone is causing noise. As soon as I open up the 'Music' app or any application that turns on the headphone jack, I can hear the hissing. It's very noticeable when listening to music at night in the lower volume settings. The same files I'm listening to have no noise on my blackberry or on my iPod.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
I can only suggest you exchange for another unit. Yup... I saw that you said you had tried another One.
I came from Nexus 4. My first Nexus 4 had a defective earpiece and the same hissing noise you described from the headphone jack. Did a RMA with Google, and the second Nexus 4 had a perfect earpiece but still some hissing noise from the headphone jack. I didn't want to bother with the RMA process again so I just lived with it.
Then I got my HTC One. Sound quality is miles better than the Nexus 4 and I hear no hissing noise from the headphone jack.
While the chance is slim, it is possible to get defective unit twice in a row. The hissing noise is probably due to in proper shielding or poor wiring inside the phone.

Hi,
Try turning off beats audio and see if it still happens.

I would agree with gustav30. I have noticed this recently, but it only happens when I am toggling the beats audio on and off. I think it might have something to do with the different audio qualities depending on what type of thing you are doing i.e. streaming music, listening to downloaded music, watching YouTube, etc..
Its beats audio. Turn it off and the hissing decreases. You will always have some hissing though no matter what phone and headphones you have.
Beats lowers this hiss, but its still there.
This hiss exists for all android devices I've used and heard when using high sensitivity IEMs.
Considering going back to apple... *sigh*
Has anyone here experienced prominent crackling sound listening to music at full volume when using HTC headphones supplied with the phone ?
I tried using the same headphones on One X but no crackling sound or even on the computer.
It does dis for all the songs I play at full volume on HTC ONE. (it does reduce the crackling noise if I turn off the beats audio).
So wut do u think cud be the problem ?
The headphones, the phones hardware or the beats audio.

Query regarding headphone jack and audio output

Hello everyone.
I have a wierd issue and I have no clue if its hardware or software related. The problem is when I plug my earphones in (Sennheiser CX215), the audio and all the sounds comes out through the external speaker instead of the earphone. It doesnt always happen, sometimes the earphones would work without any hiccup, no crackling or bad sound.
I checked the jack for any loose connections and found none.
However I must add that rebooting the phone solves the sound problem whenever it occurs. So I must be guessing its a software bug (right??)
Anyways, I wanna know if anybody is having any audio or headphone jack problems ??
EDIT: And yes, I plugged the earphones all the way in. And the bootloader is unlocked without any rooting. Im currently using ''sound about'' app to divert the audio to earphones. A tad annoying
Using CX-180 with Moto G 2014, working absolutely fine. No issues here. Sound is clear and loud.
Did you test other headphones? Do a factory reset and try again.
The audio is clear and without any distortion when it works. The issue is all the sounds and i mean all the sounds comes out through the external speakers even when earphones are plugged in. I think the OS fails to recognize if the earphones are plugged in.
And another problem is that I have no other earphones xD.
Let me try a factory reset and then Ill report back. *sigh* all my data down the drain

I had the exact same problem with the headphones I use with my PC. But I tried a friends Sony headphone and it worked. So, it does look like the OS fails to recognize some particular headphones.
The same happened with me while using xiaomi piston 2 headphones....but it happens once in 10 times....so not an issue!
I think i should ask company for replacement... Its a hardware issue according to me... And bundled headphones work fine but are of pathetic quality

check your headset port (jack)
I've had that problem in the past with a dirty headphone jack. If you use Bluetooth no problem and it works, the headset jack might be the cause.

Problems with audio on headphones: amplifier died?

Today I connected my Z1 to my Sennheiser RS-160 wireless headphones and first, I noticed that right channel has a lot of noise even if not playing. When I started the song, the right channel was somehow more quiet than left one and the sound was a little bit distorted. Then I connected original Z1 headphones and the sound got worse and it kept getting worse and worse. Now the right channel is so much distorted that it's impossible to listen to music. The left channel works perfectly.
I tried to reboot the phone but it's still there. I also tried to connect external Audio DAC through USB and the sound is fine there so I assume that it's a hardware issue; probably the headphone amplifier is dead. It's still under warranty so I will probably send it to repair, but before I do this, is there any possibility that there's a software issue? It's weird that only one channel is dead. Does it have a stereo or 2 x mono amplifier for headphones inside? Anyone had a similar problem?
The phone is not rooted and it has stock ROM, without any mods. Sound on speaker works fine. I also tried to clean the 3.5mm jack but no result.
