Inaccuracy of Watch Styler custom faces - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Is anyone else having a problem with the hour hand on analogue watch faces created with the Watch Styler app being inaccurate?
I took a video showing how far off the hour hand is.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkBmt8Nc-cc
If I use the stock watch faces, the hour hand is accurate. Using a number of different custom watch faces, the hour hand is always off.
Is this a problem with the Watch Styler app? Or a problem with my installation?
Thanks,
Rich

My custom analog watch was actually frozen this morning. Also, a couple of times it disappeared completely when using a custom digital face. It gave some error on the watch screen.

Same here, I'm done with custom faces.
Between bugs and excessive battery drain it is simply not worth it.

Recent update seemed to fix battery drain. Only thing I see as a "glitch" is the battery indicators seem to be a little off. Example... Shows 2 out of 5 bars which you would think would be under 50 percent but when I double tap to check the battery, it showed 52 percent. Not to concerned as it it is under reporting vs over reporting.

Battery Life

Post your battery stats here:
So far I am able to get 4 days with a single charge if I keep the display off and turn on only when I want. I also keep the brightness to 2.

Almost 4 days here but have a tendency to charge when reaching 20% to avoid going flat wrong time
Usually get around 3-4 days. With brightness at 5 and the gesture on. But I turn it off when I go to bed

Got with first charge 6.5 days. 3 days (only watch) and 3 days (watch/pedometer/heart rate and so on). Got about ~10% battery left yet. With brightness at 4 and no hand gesture.
65% battery left in two days of use. (i guess 4-5 days in single charge)
brightness level 4
motion detect on.
3 Days to 20%
Motion on
Brightness:2
Notifications: Hangouts, SMS,Gmail, Woot
how do you set it to sleep mode ?
I'm only getting 18-22 hours when paired with my Galaxy Note 3. What is wrong? Brightness is 3 and motion is on. Just a few notifications activated.

Samsung apps version or mix of version, I sorted that by removing every bit of samsung apps on my z1 and then reinstalled only GearManager1_2.apk. Now back to 3-4days depending on the time I spent on the phone with the gear
my phone use is here and there calls, if i have along time call im using my phone.
also notification: facebook, skype, whatsapp etc..
after 7pm when im home i'm switching the phone off and open it at 7am in the morning. brightness X 4, motion detect on, all of that is 4 days plus in use single charge.
my phone is s4 zoom.
I'm at about 75 hours or so (just over 3 days) with 40% battery still remaining. I have text, email (push from Exchange), phone, Google and Skype notifications being pushed to the watch. I'm using the weather clock face. Brightness is at 3, the gesture is off. I don't turn the phone or watch off at night, although the screen isn't being used all night because I'm sleeping.
I guess my watch is defective then. I can't even get it to work for 24 hours. What could it be? My Note 3's battery seems unaffected, though.

I am 3 days and 7 hrs and my battery is at 15%. Brightness at 2%, Screen timeout at 10 sec, gesture off, only phone and sms w/a few phone calls and I turn it off at night. How can I get longer battery life.

Not sure if this is really hardware issue. Mine went from 100% to 20% in about 5 hours. Samsung replaced as defective without asking any further questions. However the new one behaves similarly. This morning 100% to 88% in mere 40minutes... Then I switched off BT on phone - no change on Gear battery level in the next half hour.
So I suspect this is rather something on the phone. I started discovery with Samsung customer service. I will see what happens.
Any idea from anyone? I have a Note 2.

I know for a fact that I can barely squeeze 2 days out of the battery (so compared to 3 or 4 days easy for others, seems like something is wrong). If I turn bluetooth off, it seems like (based on 10 hours or so with it off) that I could go over a week, so I'm guessing it has something to do with my phone's bluetooth connection or a bug with something on the phone. I have an s3. Definitely let us know if they find out what the problem is.

As an Idea, as I had an issue with the gear 1, go to the gear 1 forum and get the 1.6 version of the gear manager and see if that helps. I am using the latest gear manager with the note 2, but I had major issues with the gear 1 and installing 1.6 fixed the issues.

I just got the 4.4 update from Sprint yesterday (for my S3). So far, I'm losing less than 1% per hour even with watch connected to phone. Looks like I'll get 3+ days on this run. Problem might be solved! (I'll report back once I've had a few days like this).
Paired with Galaxy Note2.
Brightness on 5.
I don't use the pedometer or heart rate features.
Most of the time I can get almost 2 days.
I've found that some of the watch faces and other apps on Samsung Apps can be real battery hogs.
For example... I tried using "Roman Watch Style" from the app store and couldn't even get a full day out of it. After uninstalling, it immediately went back up around 2 days.
At the end of the 2nd day I usually have around 7% left.
Battery life seems to be fairly consistent. At the end of the 1st day I'm usually just over 50%. By the end of the 2nd, it's borderline dead.

Battery drain so fast

Hi everyone,
I just bought my Gear 2 Neo 3 days ago and expected its battery use can be 3 days or so. I use the watch not much, just received emails and messages notification. I also turn steps function on and... That's it.
But I experience that my Gear 2 Neo battery use just only 1 day or 1 and half day.
Does somebody have experience like this? I think I would return the watch since charging for it every day is annoying me.
Thank you,

My gear 2 neo's battery life seems about right. It's using about 25% battery life per day. The issue that I'm having is that, since getting the gear 2, my phone's (s5) battery life has been horrible. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I am using s3 and am not facing issues on phone. It still is able to last a day.
have read on other forums and the drain of gear 2 might be linked to android version 4.3
People running 4.4.2 have no issues..
is that the case? ?

I am running 4.4.2 with my Galaxy S4 and a custom rom (Shostock or Golden Eye --I keep switching. . .)
Not sure how to extend the battery life --my brightness is "+1+ and sound is at +0 . . .

There is a similar thread in Gear 2 forum and there people are kind of convinced that it may be a version issue. But there is an issue with watch as well. I disconnected the watch from bluetooth before going to sleep and the battery has come down 4% in 8 hours. Without display and no updates/notifications, no sleep, pedometer etc this is rather too much.
Thanks for letting us know that 4.4.2 the battery is again pathetic.
Any fixes in sight anyone??
You guys must be doing something wrong, I got mine on saturday, gave it its initial charge till it was 100% and today is the first time I have had to charge it, so what's that some 5.5 days, and that's using the sleep function, having it as a silent alarm, using the heart rate monitor every other hour (on a drug that can cause increased heart rate) getting notifications, made 3 phone calls, sent 20 something text (via s-voice).
I have screen set at 2, vibrate (no sound), and on latest fw, it is connected to my Note 3 N9005 running 4.4.2 official ota ROM.
Try to make sure the pedometer is off guys, this could be your battery problem...

Just to check the watch, i left it at home for 24 hours without anyone touching it and no bluetooth connection. Battery has come down to 64% from 100. I think i should complaint at Samsung to get a replacement..
I think the problem is buy watch's battery, and even Samsung exchange to us another one, the battery is still problem. I think I will return and get my money back

From yesterday, I did a test which Wake-up gesture is turned off and, amazing, my Gear Neo battery just used less than 1% per hour. I tried to turn this function on again and the percentage change to 1.5% per hour. I believe this problem is here.
Im now very happy with my Gear 2 Neo.

I don't know if we're doing something wrong, but there is a clear difference between results. It may be that the software is optimized for the Note, maybe other apps we've added, maybe the custom rom. . . Whatever --you're getting really exceptional life -don't change what you're doing! :good:
-- I full charged yesterday at about 1:40 pm, it is 10:20am, that ~21 hours (less 20min) and I am at 72%, so about 28% in 21 hours (including going to the gym and going out for the evening and finally an 8.5hour (measured) sleep cycle (watch blocking mode turned on while sleeping and wake up gesture is ON).
-- That's about 1.3% per hour, which would be great. However, my daytime use (Saturday going out and about) will likely be higher.
-- The only difference I did was I switch off Google Now notifications (but switched ON Business Calendar and simple calendar --so I still get my appointments sent) and deleted two apps I am not using (Feedly, eBay).
I would be happy with three days and would put up with 2.5 days; but anything less than two days/48 hours would be too much of a pain in the neck to stop and recharge. Even though I have the hour or so downtime to make it happen, having to pay attention and take that action every 48 would not be what I expected. . .Well. . . we'll see how it fairs without G Now today!
Try screen at 10 sec and wake by button only.

Guys, I think I know where the problem is. Im using GS3 paired to my Gear2Neo. At the beginning my G2N had a very slowly battery discharge. Since two days ago battery gone mad. It went down 4% per hour even I was not using it. Finally, after experimentnig with varios combinations I found that if you uninstall goproviders app (in aplication manager on your phone) you wont be able to receive Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc notifications but the battery will be back to normal. Ofcourse, I can still receive standard notifications (calendar, sms, email...), make or reject calls. In last 1,5 hour I lost 2-3% of battery with normal usage. For the conclusion, it is not BT but Gear manager bug. Hope they will make this work properly.
I'm still installing goproviders app but the battery is really good right now, 73% used in 75 hours.

I charged the watch to 100% last night and immediately turned it off. I just turned it on ten mins ago and it was at 99% and it immediately went to 98%. I would accept if I had left it on...but it was turned off. I know batteries can loose juice over time, but when it's off that should happen in maybe a full day or 2 days, not in 8 hrs, correct?

With regards to my set up,
I have wake-up set to off (I work in an office and would constantly be on),
I have all notifications off (except call, alarm, SMS etc) only ones I have bar the std is gmail and facebook.
I use the sleep mode with notifications off
No pedo during the day (I have a fitbit one for that)
In my office im not allowed a phone, so as that is left in my car bluetooth is disconnected for about 7hrs a day (not turned off, just disconnected).
I check my heart rate every hour, I know its only a rough guide but still uses battery.
I have noticed since loading the minority report 24hr ultimate watchface (yes it does work, despite what the site says) my battery life has halved, so currently getting 2.5 to 3 days b4 I hit below 20%.
Screen is set to 2.
Notifications set to silent
One other thing to note, I seem to be getting a rash on my wrist, where the contacts on the back of the neo contact my skin. Anyone else getting this??

Thanks for the details!
Wow! you have a very efficient setup --no wonder you are (were) getting such tremendous battery time! ( I need display brightness "3" to use it all day. Also, in the house or in an office, I turn off the motion-to-wake, but outside I do use it. . . )
Your adjustments also makes sense and may be a good part of your savings, since you don't have your phone in the office, and don't need to use the pedometer.
In general, I think that when we get the smart watch our first inclination is to load the watch up and do everything with every possible app! However, after a while, we sort out how we use the watch and can pare back the apps and notifications and make it more sensible, while improving battery life (a bit) too!
From what I have done on my Neo, I agree that using limited, selective notifications -and even selective app loading-- makes a difference in battery life.
I also noticed that different alternative watch faces seemed to drain the battery faster than the default options.
That's why, even after buying/trying several different watch faces; and even after using Breach 's great "create your own watch face thread," [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734747 ] , I went back to the stock (weather-time).
As to the rash... wow, I have had no irritation or rash or reaction on my wrist -even after working out with it on and sweating. (Wasn't that a problem with fit-bit or one of the other bands?).

Galaxy Gear 1 + Tizen = great battery life.

Since my switch to Tizen I have great batter life. 3rd day here and still at 29 percent.
Have to agree, the battery life is far superior to the Android based Galaxy Gear.
I am on the second day and currently looking at 49% and that was from 7am to 10pm each day with as many notifications as I used to get when it was Android powered. Rest of the time is just idle by the bedside as notifications are disabled on the phone during the night.
It's given my Gear a whole new lease of life.
how?
i wonder why its better tho o0 they did a good job but what did they change? lol doesnt look or feel any different lol
Same here, I bit the bullet and made the switch to Tizen last week.
I was previously on Null, as much as I enjoy the android experience, the fun/wow factor wore off after a while. Also having to charge up the gear every night wasn't a problem, though I sometimes forget.
After I made the switch, battery life was great, I would check the battery % throughout the day and it would drop only a few %.
Thinking the battery % was stuck or hung, I reset the gear and to my surprise it was the same %.
Even though I charge up my gear every night, now I'm trying to get out of the habit and doing it every few days instead.
I get a fare share of notifications on a daily basis and the battery still chugging along nicely.
For those that haven't made the switch and don't mind not having the option of android/null rom, make the switch.
Regards
Tizen does seem to increase the Battery life. One thing to note is that everyone that is reporting 2-3 days probably has the biggest battery drainer (motion wake) turned off. With motion wake on under Null I could go from 6am - 11pm with 30% or more remaining at which time I put it on the charger. With Tizen I go from 6am - 11pm with 55% or more remaining. Both of these are with Pedometer, multiple SMS, a few FB notifys, and about 100 exchange emails.
I have been running Tizen for a while now with motion wake off. Same amount of usage and I can go 3 days (I even run the sleep tracker overnight). Very satisfying results. I miss the motion wake, I do not like having to press the button to see time. An always on or motion wake is what I want in a smartwatch (this is my 4th, (Liveview, Sony, Pebble, Gear). I am going back to motion wake, I will give it a charge at home before bed, use the sleep tracking and still get through the day fine.
Everyone is different in what they need/expect from a smartwatch. The Gear is definitely a great product, and even though I wasn't excited about Tizen I am enjoying the longer battery life and built in applications.

Well I'm running tizen for about a week now and I'm very disappointed. Battery life for me is worse than on android. After about 8 hours battery is on 54% and that's with few notifications. With android I could run the Gear for 15 hours and it was on 54% or more. Sucks that I can't go back.
Really happy with Tizen upgrade, just looks way better and battery life is way better than stock Android. Not sure yet how it stacks up against Null_ ROM but I'm sticking with Tizen. Also better looking UI imo
Taskar23: Actually, you can go back to Android. Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776157
Seeing as how you are a new member here, make sure to follow instructions exactly and do not downgrade if you're not sure of what you're doing.
But be careful, some users report disfunctional touchscreen. Using Null_ ROM touchscreen seems to work, but DOWNGRADE AT OWN RISK.

I'm getting 2+ days with motion wake turned on. At first I was getting about 25% better battery life then Android. Then some combination of moving from BTU>XAC>ROM improved it to what other folks were claiming.
getting 4 days with motion wake turned off. I don't really need motion wake, too many false positives anyway.
4 days, i am so happy.
Motion wake is enabled. It would be a pain in the ass to have to turn on the phone every time I wanted to check the time or an alert.
Well I have decided to flash with the new NF1 ROM last night. Everything went well, gear is working. Uninstaled the GM and installed again, factory reseted the gear just to make sure and so far looks like about 4% battery per hour

The Tizen update for me is great. I have had it unplugged from the charger since 8am and it is now noon. Many notifications from girlfriend and checking the time. Still at 100% battery. This update has been nothing but a positive move. Layout is very nice. Love the background option and the fact that we can now access the internal storage. +1 for Tizen for me.

Yeah, my Gear Fit does the same thing, so I think it's probably my Note II's rom. I've never wanted to go to Verizon stock so badly ...
Tizen lost 25-30% per 24 hour
stock Android lost 50% per 24 hour
Null_ ROM lost 50-60% per 24 hour
Same Using Condition and Setting
Meh, I was running Android with tasker and auto remote and about 40 task on my gear and was getting about a day and a half out of my gear.
I upgraded to Tizen, litterally all I use is the pedometer, and sleep(while plugged in). So I unplug at 7:50am every morning. Almost every night around 8:30-9pm the watch dies....thats barely 13 hours. What load of crap lol

[TIP] If you're using Endomondo with your LG G Watch R read this

I've noticed when I use Endomodo on my Android Wear during a workout for heart rate tracking. Even well after the workout, the battery drains much faster. So I've gotten into the habit of restarting my LG G Watch R just after the workout is finished. This helps the battery drain go back to a more normal pace.
I've already contacted Endomondo directly, to inform them of this. I hope they can find a bug fix. But it seems something in their app does not die even after being closed in Android Wear. Or, something in their app causes a lingering problem till the device is restarted.

Thanks, I never noticed this before.
Regarding Endomondo, one of my feedback messages to them was how quick the battery drains because of screen on during workouts. Hopefully some brightness/screen toggles can help extend the battery more. I would like to see the watch last 6 hours during exercise to cover some endurance sessions.
Wow, I never want screen dimming during my workouts, since mine never go over an hour. But yea, for 6 hour endurance you need some kind of screen dimming or something. Does Theater Mode work?
Theater mode unfortunately kills HRM, which is a shame because I don't look at the watch much at all whilst riding (probably due to the fact I'll fall off )
I just been for a ride and I got 15% battery drain per hour using a third party launcher on the watch with the lowest brightness possible.
Battery stats
30% screen
1% Endomondo
There's certainly room for improvement, perhaps someone will be able to activate HRM with screen off?

Gear S2 battery issue, drain in OS but when docked shows 60%

My Gear S2 operates as normal as it should, however even at idle, the battery drains rapidly. Once the unit is completely dead, I then dock it and it will say 60% charge, which I know is wrong given that the unit will not power on undocked, meaning the battery had been completely depleted. Unit charges normally but I think a bug is preventing it from reaching actual 100% since it believes 0% to be 60%. Is there a way I can fix this without tearing apart the unit or replacing the battery?
same issue
I'm having the exact same issue, did a factory reset today updated all apps still same. I use a basic watch face, turn brightness to 2, everything off except Bluetooth and can get about a day of use . Is anyone else having this issue and has a solution?
Battery dead
So update on this issue, (on the Gear App on the phones most updated version) I went to the basic watch face in gray scale, then turned off all notifications, under gear connection, I unchecked sync wi-fi profiles, and under about gear I unchecked marketing information. I'm not sure which of those if any made the difference but at the end of day one 16 hours of use I was at 70%. So on the second day I tried a colorful watch face with animations, and 16 hours in I was at 63%. So one of those changes I made may have fixed my issue.
I did uninstall and reinstall the app on the phone, as well as reset the watch itself, neither seemed to work until I did the above changes. Hopefully that will help someone, or at least help to find out what is causing the massive battery drain.

With all that I have done with my gear, most I was able to get was about 10 hours. Though today it did to something odd. It died completely like it normally does, (it dies anywhere between 3-10% ish, and when it does die, its completely dead) so I placed it on the dock. Two minutes later I check and it reports 34%, "thats odd" I think to myself so I undock it and power it up thinking I would get no more than 5 minutes battery life on it since it couldnt possibly have that much charge in two minutes. I also expected it to report a low percentage but it didnt. I placed it back on my wrist and it continues to run about 10 minutes later down to 25% and still going! I find it odd. My current leakage issue I think remains and might be why the watch doesnt last as long. I might end up getting a new battery and see. My top battery user: watch faces at ~45%, even if the face hardly came on, and I am using one with a custom background that is mostly pure black.
Drain
That does sound pretty weird. I had a custom watch face installed "Mr Time" and started with a brand new install and I'm slowly adding things back in.
I would suggest a fresh install of the phone app, and the watch, using the classic face black and white. If you can get similar results to what I have then one by one start customizing it. I tried a lot of things to get it to work, over several days and that's what worked for me. I even uninstalled all of the watch faces I want using from the app"i felt that Mr time was still running in the background, even though it probably wasn't.
Good Luck
