Roms? - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

So i see there a lot of roms that arn't getting updated frequently. I was just wandering what rom is a good one for battery life. I'm on cm right now and i like it i just want to see what's out there. I like pacman but i saw that it isn't getting a lot of attention and i was just wandering if its because this is a older phone. thanks!

It is really up to the devs when they update their roms but if you want a good constantly updated rom then you should go with CM10.2. Can't say much about battery life but for now it is the most updated and stable rom in my opinion.

Best ROM For Battery Life - Personal Experience?

Hey guys. I might be Rooting and flashing soon, and I'm looking for which ROM I should go for.
I was looking for one with good battery life (I use my phone for Music, Game's Etc.) and hopefully a ROM that has better battery life then stock.
I was also looking for one that had Sense 3.0.
Any chance such ROM exists? Any one tried a few Sense 3.0 Rom's and has had good battery life from one?
Thanks

Virtuous unity 2.35 does go good.... The sense 3.0 is just amaZIng! IF U WANT I'LL POST THE LINK HERE...
arhd is good too but then its over clocked to 1.5Ghz by default, so alot has complained for it doesn't boot up, stays in the HTC screen.
This ROM too gives u amazing performance but its mostly the users taste here...
And not to forget, Coredroid ROM... Man this ROM OS simply fantastic, I've used it before just because of the backlight issues removed it, the backlighta aka the 4 menu butons, doesn't work sadly.... But, there's gonna be an update soon, so yeaaaaaa! It's gonnna have sense 3 with the backlights fixed too...
Hope this helps....

well, as pointed out , the choice is very personal.
it depends on your preferences as there are some differences in most of the major roms.
so far i've tried ARHD, CM7, MIUI & Virtuous unity.
CM7 is quite good if you are interested in having a non-sense rom but the functionality, stability is top notch. CM7 has set a standard not just for stand alone developers but for corporate production as well.
ARHD is a very popular rom and most people using it will swear by it.
it is sense based, and it will feel like a charged up stock rom.
very professional as well.
MIUI is what i used the longest & i must admit it is a brilliant rom in the fact that it stands out in appearance & customization.
every app and every part of the system is beautified and it feels like a totally different phone. if you are looking to have a 'different' yet amazing phone, MIUI is the way to go.
but the major drawback with MIUI is that it is not officially supported for the INCs and thus there are some minimal bugs which can get a bit annoying.
And of course it has no app drawer, works like the iphone.
this can be handled by the wonderful app created by a member here called alt drawer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
i feel this is a must for MIUI.
finally, using VU at the moment and i feel it is a perfect blend of sense components and that little something extra.
looks, feels and works amazingly well, minimal bugs and almost feels like the perfect rom again...
i did however run into a few loop boots recently, but i think that can be worked on.
that's my personal opinion on all the roms...
and i think it would be a good opportunity to give a heartfelt 'thank you' for all the developers here working so damn hard on providing world class roms for us.
Thank you guys, we all do silently thank and appreciate all your efforts!

The great thing about rooting and flashing is that you can create a back up and from there flash everything possible until you find what your looking for. One thing to remember is that you cannot kill your phone flashing new roms as they do not change your BIOS.
Thanks for all your replies guys - does anyone have a link to ARHD?
Sounds quite good
EDIT: ARHD Isn't full Sense 3.0, might leave that one... is Virtuous Unity a good one to go with then? (No bugs, good battery etc.)
i refer to ARHD 1.1.6
with kernel 4

Thanks Nabeeltanz for quoting my post
well, to add to the above post, i have personally experienced MIUI to have the longest battery life among all the ROMS.
My usage is quite heavy, 3g on all day, regular surfing with streaming of music for most part, a little gaming here and there, emailing and of course the messaging and calls. most of the ROMS i've used lasted me a full day.. MIUI did a little more.. consistently it would last for close to 2 days. it would definitely need recharging by the end of the second day..
but compared to the stock rom, all the custom roms do provide good enough battery life.

+1 for cm7n and tiamat
Just so say, I'm using Virtuous Unity and it's been brilliant so far.
To all those guys that use CM7 Nightlies (Test Release) with timat 1.1.4 , just want to clarify with you guys that do you guys get crashes on it?
I downloaded the latest test release last night and flashed it after I flashed my ROM and I've got to say that I keep get crashes (com.android.phone process has ended) . So what is the ROM that I should flash? Is it the stable version or the test version.
and can I flash the kernel (timat 1.1.4) on my Virtuous Unity 2.3.9? So what is that is power saving? The kernel or the ROM or both together? (im confused)

I did a full wipe using ARHD 's (Super Wipe) and also using my Clockworkmod's wipe . I performed a NANdroid before flashing (of course im scared) . I had problems on the nightly ROM as I don't know why my Airplane mode keeps turning on by itself.
It will be great if you can help me by posting the exact link for the ROM you use and the kernel you used and even the recovery you used to wipe your entire ROM before flashing the new one ..
I'm still using VU 2.3.9 and I just realized that my battery life sux the previous time because I didnt flash the kernel of VU 2.3.9 (LOL) . I just flashed it and I'm currently letting it run to see how well is the battery.
as smartphone users, most of our main concern is the battery usage.. I would very much like to use CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies but just that I have second thoughts about it because it didnt have the "Quick Settings" or HTC keyboard that I was using on my VU . and I can't find and nice framework which is suitable..
so i guess if you could help me on this issue. I'll really appreciate it .

Fast and Very Light ROM

Hi,
I'm looking for a fast and light ROM. I have a Nexus 4 now so my tablet is pretty much just used for taking notes at University and watching the occasional YouTube video.
I looked and managed to find AOKP M6 Slim, however this seems to be discontinued and as a result, outdated.
If installing a more feature-heavy ROM and removing features is viable, could someone point me in the right direction to do that?
Thanks in advance.
codefireX.
Best ROM available, performance wise.
Still very rich in features and customization. Includes option to turn off nearly all aftermarket customizations and features, besides performance ones.
I highly suggest pairing with motley kernel.

Super close to stock. They're really up on responsible coding. Nothing that goes against AOSP. All about just working.
I usually go in through titanium backup and remove programs I don't need

I like Paranoid Android but you are going to get a different response from everyone. PA runs really smooth for me. It is not as feature filled as a lot of the other roms but gives some nice customization options. PIE control is also really nice as it allows you to take advantage of the entire screen.
The bottom line is that the only way to find the best ROM for you is to do some research and flash a few different ones. Try them for a few days and then switch if you are not pleased/get bored.
liquid smooth

Rasbean. But that's the benefit of owning a nexus, you have so many options.
But I'm pretty positive once you flash rasbean, you won't flash anything else. I would advise flashing other roms first and then go to rasbean. You'll notice the difference.

Carbon is smooth and customizable. My new favorite

I love that everyone posted a different ROM.
I fell in love with Xylon, it has A TON of features and customizations. I think it borrows (kang) popular features from a lot of ROMs and all the features are optional. Not to mention the ROM is super fast and smooth which I wouldn't expect from A ROM with so many features.
I personally use the custom faux kernel with it, makes the ROM that much slicker, and my battery lasts for an entire day.

I'm on stock ROM 4.2.2 , it's pretty fast stable and battery life is much much better than my previous phone GS3.

The bugs on the Samsung are due to the difficulty obtaining sources from Samsung. No such problem on the Nexus, and CyanogenMod is as stable as stock and you get the extra features to boot.
ALL of the roms for the Nexus 4 are fast because the phone is fast. I doubt anyone could tell the difference without running benchmarks so you should really just try a few and make a choice based on which feature set you like.

You sir are correct. CM10 on Nexus 4 is the best combination of lightweight and customisable so far that I've seen.
This is borderline a "which is the best ROM" thread and we all know how those turn out. Every ROM I've ever seen claims to be "light and fast" either directly or indirectly..
To the OP.. There are piles and piles of people making ROMs and kernels for this phone. It's one of the most active development communites I've seen in ages. Take advantage of it! No one can pick one for you.. Drop by the development forums, read, read, then read some more.. Pick 5 ROMs that sound up your alley and give them a try.. I'd suggest a ROM a week until you find one you are satisfied with.
Goodluck and enjoy your Nexus!
Best part about coming to a Nexus forum is being confused about what ROM to flash. Always so many great ones to choose from. lol.
So damn true, there are so many ROM's from so many great developers you do really get lost even when going through all of the topics.
So the best bet would be to try it for yourself and flash a few ROM's until you find the one you like.
P.S - this phone is so quick so i doubt really anyone can find a difference in performance between Rom's.
Have fun
^ there is a difference but I feel it lies within the individual kernels. I've been testing kernels for about two weeks and find myself always coming back to trinity 97, even with 4.2.2 its smooth and battery life is insane. I've bounced from ROM to ROM and find xylon the smoothest. Once rasbean goes 4.2.2 I'll give it a shot. There are so many Roms and they are all *good. *everyone has their opinions and all the devs here put a lot of work and time in and all deserve the respect they get. As far as a “light" ROM goes slim bean would be the lightest coming in at under 110mb zip file, then you'll need gapps and they have minimal gapps available at around 25mb.

Anyone care to get me up to date on roms, kernels, etc

Hi all, I've been away from the forums for a while and it seems almost impossible to get caught up on everything.
Some background information
On viper 1.2.1
faux's kernel (not the newest if there have been any updates recently)
Using fauxs battery saving recomendations but still getting only decent battery
Now that we got that out of the way, i plan on updating to the newest viper as it is a freaking amazing rom but i was wondering if theres possibly a more preferred kernel to get better battery life and what those settings would be.
Dont know what more to say but yeah i was just hoping to get my phone all up to date thanks guys

How is the battery life on the custom roms

Hey everyone, I know "best rom" threads aren't allowed but that isn't what I'm trying to ask. I don't care which is better overall. I just want to know how their battery life stacks up (not against each other but how they are in general). I am currently running CM11 and I really miss Sense for some reason. So I am thinking of switching back but I want to make sure my battery life doesn't suffer because of it. So are the Sense custom roms for the HTC One (m7 GSM) good with battery life? I tried ViperOne once and it barely lasted 12 hours. Thanks in advance.

I dont want ro ever say one rom ia better than another. As a programmer I have a great reapect for the people and teams that put these out.
Thus said; in my last 5 or so years of owning one android device or another I've always found better resposiveness and battery life using a custom rom over the stock softwares.

In my opinion..
Okey, so I forgot about flashing other roms when i installed vanir, battery life is awesome, deep sleep all the way when you dont use it, maybe because of the kernel, latest nyghtly was a little bit anoying because it kept rebootin and freezing but meeh...understandable if your are using kitkat on a phone thats not ment to have kitkat..
Other good rom is Paranoid android,...pure stock android, fast and stable, but battery life sucks..
In my opinion for Battery vanir works well for me, and stability is paranoid, i havent tried latest cm snapshot, i am about to.
have tried most of the roms... for some reason vanir and tesla doesn't give me good battery backup (doesn't last for a day).. have been using pacman nightlies now and it has given me good battery life(lasts more than a day with wifi, some reading and calls).. do you guys use any app or change settings in vanir to get good battery life?
Surprised not to see many CM11 people here. I use that since I assumed it'd be the most stable, but I haven't really tried anything else.
I use CM11 M12. I figure since all the roms are CM based anyways and I don't really care for the themes and customizations they add, might as well go to the stable source and add my own mods as I please.

I am on the latest nightly and my phone shut off today and wouldn't stay on until I plugged it in to charge despite it reporting %50 battery left. I think my phone may be having an issue with reporting proper battery level but I don't know if it is CM11 related. Cyanogen are the only ROMs I have ever used on my phones, but now I am thinking about flashing Pacman to see if it has the same problem with my battery.
I use stock mexican 4.1.2 far the best and most stable rom. I love all the features from 4.4.x roms but all they make the phone sluggish.
And if Motorola betrays us again (not releasing 4.4 or 5) that would be the last motorola roms that I would ever use again.

Why people keep saying Moto? It will be most like ATT betrayal instead as moto already gave them the finished update. Blame ATT not Moto.

I use any ROM that has pie controls in it. Lately it's Validus. For this phone, pie controls is my favorite and required feature. The navigation bar takes up too much screen real estate, and making the buttons smaller makes then harder to press! Pie all day er day.
