[Q] Bit of an annoying issue... - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I unrooted my Z1 for several reasons, but for the time being, mainly was so I could use an app called power schedule. When I set a time to turn off, the app works fine, but a permission pop up comes up which stops my phone turning off automatically. Is there anyway to turn off this pop up off or grant permission to allow the app to function? (I unrooted using vroot)
Thanks

I managed to swap superuser for SuperSU and the problem is solved.

Wow, I you did that on an unrooted device, please tell me how

[Mini 2 GT-S6500] Reboots caused by wifi

No-one appears to have had this issue on this phone yet, and not for this exact reason, which makes me think it's only a small error somewhere. (I hope)
Ever since I got it about a month ago, even before I rooted it or did anything to it, it would randomly reboot with no particular pattern. I've since discovered it's specifically caused by the wifi being left on, and the phone left locked for more than about 15 minutes, regardless of whether any apps are open at all. All in all it only happens when wifi is on, and it's not charging or being used. When being used it never happens, and when it's plugged into USB or the wall charger it never happens, and never when just network data is on, no wifi. And I can leave it with both wifi and data off and it will happily standby for it's whole battery life with no issues.
What is the wifi doing when I leave it locked? does anyone know specifically why it causes this?
Anyone? I use wifi way way more than my data, i want to be able to put it down for 10 minutes!

Try updating the firmware. This might help...

There may be a corrupted apk somewhere that would be active only when Wi-Fi is on (note that there are some services that are still running in the background even if you think they are none , they are not that easy to find and will most likely restart if you kill them , but it's ok because they need to run) . Reflashing the stock firmware with Odin should do the trick.
Also I presume you haven't overclocked it . If you did , lower down the max frequency a little .
FInally , are there any heating issuses when this happens ?
i've had the same issue with the mini 1. it was gone after i have flashed the stock firmware on it.
my mini 2 has no reboot problems (yet).
Try setting wifi sleep policy to "never" of you have at option in settings>wifi>advanced.
Alternatively, it could be called keep wifi on during sleep, turn it to "always"

I have this problem too. Not rooted. Probably, while charging this problem not appears.
Wrong section. This belongs in Q&A.
And for your problem, few users with.XT and XTX also reported similar problems. They are known as SoD (Sleep of Death).
There is no known fix yet. One users took it back to the store and the the Sony tech guru told him it's an isolated problem and he got a new one. So I suggest you go back to the store.
For anyone using adw launcher, one user reported that that caused his SoD. When he uninstalled that it was gone. Can be an app.
Try factory reset, and start first day without installing apps. And day by day add a new app, this way you can rule out if apps cause the problem.
Also format internal and external sdcard. Don't just empty them by wiping, you should really format, so no traces of possible app malfunction can be found back by the system.

Did I help? please press thanks button
after several days of testing, it doesnt hang on mine for 3 days already.
i guess its because there is a additional line in build prop "dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m" that cause this? this also cause my Need For Speed Most Wanted to force close too.
i also increase min clock freq to 594MHz.
also run TempMonitor(paid) on my notification bar.
not sure the above method works for most of u.. but try if it works.
I've got this problem since the first day. Got the phone, booted it up without even installing a sim card/downloading anything, plugged it into the charger, and it froze.
Since then it would go a few days without freezing, or it would freeze 3 times a day. The freezing always happen in standby mode.
Since it froze on a fresh system with no apps installed, it can't be app-related. There are users who have never experienced this problem, so I suppose the only way is to return the phone or take it to your local sony service center.
Normally it would just hang there and you'd have to pull the battery out. There was once where it hung and the phone got incredibly hot, and battery would be drained really fast.
Currently I am experimenting with keeping WiFi OFF, and surprisingly the phone has been fine for 4 days straight without freezing now. Its just something I'm trying and by no means this is a fix, but returning the phone to a sony store isn't an option for you, you might want to see if this works for you.
for those still having SOD, maybe u can try this. not sure it helps or not. because before i install jellybean, i review the code in build.prop first. so that is why it didnt happen on me for 2 weeks. well, i test it out yesterday.
use either ES file explorer or Root explorer, go to system -> build.prop.
find this line dalvik.vm.heapsize=36m, put a # in front of it to disable this code.
it could be because there is another similar code, thus conflict. u can find another similar line at the bottom of build.prop.
hope it helps!
Have you had anymore sod since disabling that?

It ask for it when using an app that root is required. Go into Su settings and select grant access and it will stop.

I've noticed this too and has been driving me crazy trying to figure out why. I thought I had it figured out a couple weeks ago, but I was wrong. What I noticed is it was asking for root access around 7:55 am every morning. It seemed like Google play was trying to automatically update some of the Google apps every morning and at this time is when it would ask me for root access. I never did grant it access, so it would try again the next morning. I finally updated my Google apps and the next morning it didn't ask for root, I thought I fixed it. Wrong...now it is asking me around 3:45 pm every day to grant it access even though it is not trying to auto-update any Google apps as it was earlier. So I am stumped....should not have to grant root access to the Phone app. I still haven't granted it access even though it would probably ok to.
EDIT: it just happened a couple of minutes ago (at 4:05pm). Screen turned on, phone asks for root, I didn't grant it, and then my notification came up telling me I have updates available (dropbox, twitter, speedtest).

This is the exact same problem I'm having , and it's also the first time it has ever happened to me. I wonder what is it or how can the phone app need to have super Su access, if I'm just making and receiving phone calls and text ? I'm stumped. next time it happens I will try to post a log cat to see if a more experienced brethren can help out

Google play updates notifications, reboots and some.

Hello.
I've wrote it before that my phone just random likes to reboot itself like once every day.
I also noticed that usually after these reboots it shows up app update notifications. But when the phone is on, these notifications don't show up. I have to either check manually or it will show up when the phone restarted from a reboot. Or if I restart it myself.
I have notifications set to on for this.
Wondering if this might be one of the reasons my phone decides to reboot. It hasn't failed yet, it is one reboot per day. And it's random when I use the phone.
I'm hoping it's a software bug in the new firmware. I've already tried the repairs, flashed other roms and so in. Tried a new sim card and also a new microsd card. Still the same.

Fingerprint issue

Ok im running the latest firmware, im rooted and the only app disabled is s health.
Whenever i go to set up my fingerprint it stops and says to restart, and thats the cycle.
What could be interfering with it as it was working fine at one time?
Thanks again for any help

What about any xposed modules. I have xposed installed and my fingerprint scanner works but what i would do is just odin back to stock then root again. Whenever i odined it didn't delete anything i set up so i wiped everything started over. Took a few times before my phone acted right.
If you enable encryption it does kill fingerprint as option, just FYI as I spent 3 hours trying figure out why finger scanner password was removed from options. Also I set up all three fingerprint profiles with same finger but every angle possible.
If you're using xposed and wanam, you MUST read this: http://gs5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/f...es-when-using-xposed-your-galaxy-s5-0157344/#
It will solve your lagging and crashing/non-responsive apps.
