[Q] Lumia offline maps problem - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
first, sorry my english.
After Amber update (Lumia 720) my Here apps are not working anymore.
Running any app that uses the Here offline maps takes my Lumia to restart.
Is there any way/app for deleting maps without reading it? (The native one tries to read the map and the phone restarts too).
Other way would be hard reset. What prevents me of doing that is the whatsapp app data. To make an backup and then recover app data from it, I would need to sideload whatsapp (dev unlocked). The newest version I found is 2.8.0.0, which does not work anymore. So, an newer and working version of whatsapp to sideload would solve my problem too.
Any help? Tks.

The only thing that comes to my mind is via Settings -> Apps -> Maps, it doesn't show the maps, just which ones you installed and you can delete them.. however I don't know if it will crash too. Did you save them on an SD card?
For Whatsapp, maybe you could make a request for someone with an Ativ S, they should be able to extract it and send you the xap.

The Settings -> Apps -> Maps procedure takes me to instant phone restart, as the Here apps, and some other that uses the installed maps. And the maps are on Phone Memory.

Ehh...If you tried to solve it in so many ways, you have to try reset it ...

Maybe you can reset your lumia, and download the data again...Sometimes the worst way to solve problems is the most useful one.

well, since i am lazy, i didnt spend time for resetting also i was afraid to lose my data by doing any mistake after reset.
so, i did another solution:
* i installed "lumia storage check beta"
* i set sd card for storing maps
* i downloaded maps again into sd card
and now i am able to use my apps.
but still i dont know any way to delete maps in telephone storage.

Google Voice Force Closes

Google Voice force closes every time i go to set it up.
I've done my research and cannot find anything to help. I have CyanogenMod 4.2.10.1 on a T-Mobile G1. With the RA-dream-v1.5.2 Recovery Image. Also, with a 16gb sd card with 128 swap and 512mb of ext4 and apps2sd enabled (obviously). How can I fix this?

How are you trying to set it up? I ask cause i was getting a force close issue with manups Eclair Rom (which rocks by the way) when i was setting it up also and instead of clicking the sign in with my account i choose the other option (sign in with other) then i entered my same info and it worked. hope it helps.
I'm having the same problem.
Anyone have a solution to this?
I've tried re-flashing, wiping, reinstalling Google Voice, but the damn thing won't work.

Are you trying to use Evan Charlton's Google Voice app or the Official Google Voice app? Evan's app has been broken for a while and he does not intend to keep it updated.
No sir, I am attempting to use the official Google Voice app (from Google)
I can get to the main screen (to view texts) but then it suddenly FC's. Can't do anything more than that.
Solution 1:
uninstall google voice.
reboot the device ... this will rebuild packages.xml in your data partition.
run a fix permissions ... reboot..
then reinstall and try again. it most likely has to do with permissions in packages.xml ...
Solution 2:
another solution wipe and reinstall google voice

recovery of system app being converted to user app

i have acer liquid mini.I have following problems:
1.By mistake i just converted some system apps like 'messaging' to user apps. The phone rebooted and i found messaging app was uninstalled. Now how to get it back. please HELP!!
2.I uninstalled the updates of 'play store' from the settings>applications>manage applications. Now i cant access the playstore anymore.
3.The phone gets shut down just anytime and sometimes even in between calls!!
Help me with it.
Hello
I had almost the same pb as you...
which software to you use to convert system apps to user apps ?
I use Link2SD for information and it's work fine.
For messaging, I delete it. You can download other apps like Maildroid, inomail....
But you don't have market anymore
I've done the same mistake as you , and after severals try, I found this solution :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231358
First you download and install Old market on your smartphone, and during the installation, it will ask you if you want the old one or the new market, answer that you want the new one !
It worked for me...
And after, don't touch anymore to market apps
Good luck

[Help Center] How to get rid of (android.process.acore)

This small tutorial is to get rid of the error android.process.acore which comes again and again on screen and bothers alot!!
For the People who are encountering this error just follow the below steps.
This error usually occurs because you might have forgot to WIPE when installing a NEW ROM. So to avoid that always wipe when the ROM provider has stated so.
There are also other causes which result this error. So try the following methods:
1. Try uninstalling Facebook if that is installed. If this does not fix your problem then try the following.
Do you have your contacts backed up?
2. Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Sync Adapter and press Clear Data, this error usually goes away. If this doesn't work, try clearing the data on Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts or Settings>Applications>System Applications>Contacts Storage.
If problem is fixed, then restore contacts and reinstall Facebook and make sure you don't sync contacts with it.
3. Third and Final solution for me which I really dont like but has worked with me
Boot into Recovery than
1. WIPE DATA
2. WIPE CACHE PARTITION
3. MOUNTS & STORAGE > FORMAT SYSTEM
4.FLASH THE ROM
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. HAS WORKED FOR ME..... PEACE!!

This reminds me that I recently noticed that "Contact Groups" were not properly sync'ed between Google Contacts and the Contacts on my phone. I went into Contacts on my phone and checked "Sync Data". Is that supposed to stay unchecked?
Of course, the Contacts app crashes before I can un-check the box, so I don't know how to fix that now.

Clearing Data for Contact storage worked for me, thanks!
Third step seems to have woked
I did the first 2 with not results the third seems to have worked. My samsung VZW i800 is working quite well now thank you. I have CM11.0 terrenceng... granted I still get the error "unfortunately gmail has stopped" and I'm working on that issue. In the meantime I'm using the email app to handle my Gmail. Thanks again.
I tried deleting Facebook, which worked for several days, but now the Acore Error back with a vengeance !!! I do not have the same hierarchy as listed below, so I cannot use the Method #2. I've already tried Method #3, but obviously that did not work. Oh well ..... so much for upgrading to Buggy KitKat ....
At least I'm getting a new phone tomorrow .... Hopefully it will be more stable, and if I'm lucky might even have JellyBean!!! I had NO problems with JellyBean for over three months. Big mistake upgrading to KitKat 4.4.2.

anyone using this room with skype experienced any problem?
using the latest skype, when try signing out, system will show "android.process.acore" after click ok, message pops up right away. Reboot won't help either. Only way getting rid of message is to clear the contact storage.
Fix the android.process.acore
I had this problem after removing a Google account from my phone that did contacts sync. During the removal, my phone crashed (nice job guys) and it clearly corrupted something..
I DID NOT NEED TO RESET MY PHONE TO FACTORY SETTINGS OR RE-FLASH ANY FIRMWARE, ETC
IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROCESS WILL DELETE ALL LOCALLY STORED CONTACTS FROM YOUR PHONE. BUT DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO RESTORE ANY CONTACTS THAT YOU REMOTELY SYNCED WITH AN ACCOUNT (SUCH AS A GOOGLE ACCOUNT).
I fixed my phone by going to:
1. Setting > Application Manager
2. Slide over to the "ALL" tab
3. Select the "Contacts Storage" application
4. Click the "Turn Off" button
5. Click the "Force Stop" button
6. Click the "Clear Cache" button
7. Click the "Clear Data" button
8. Uncheck the "Show Notifications" option
9. Click the "Turn On" button
This should immediately resolve your issue.
IF YOU PREVIOUSLY DISABLED CONTACTS SYNCING FOR ANY OF YOUR "ACCOUNTS", YOU SHOULD RE-ENABLE IT NOW TO GET YOUR CONTACTS BACK ON YOUR PHONE.
If you're using the Facebook app (com.facebook.katana) , especially the "dev" version, try freezing/disabling, then clearing data and cache in it, seems FB doesn't do much contacts sanitizing....

The best way to resolve this issue is
- Turn Off Sync
- Remove Your Google account account from your device
-Add your google account again
-Turn on sync
BOOM you are done now
U ROCK!!!
the second solution which is clearing the ''contacts storage'' data fixed it but the problem occurred when i uninstalled facebook actually it happened to me on my other phone ( ''Galaxy Note II'' to be exact ) just by logging out of my account in the facebook app so i had to factory reset the phone
i wonder why ? all my devices have official roms with no root
anyway thanks
I get this problem "Unforunately,android.process.acore has stopped".
I have stock rom. I have Xposed framework installed,is that the source of the problem?
Thanx in advance for helping me.
My device:Samsung Galaxy S Duos2
I used to get that error message many times. With my first Note 3, it finally got so bad that I could not use my Note 3 anymore. Samsung sent me a replacement Note 3, which I still have. I started getting that error again on my second Note 3. Had to do a Factory Reset, which seemed to fix the issue. However, now I'm getting a new error message that just started when I upgraded to Lollipop 5.0 >>> Touch Wiz suddenly quits. After about 15-20 seconds starts up again.
Hey all! If none of the above solutions are working for you (like in my case), then please try this solution I found that worked for me:
1. Uninstall the app that is causing the popups (this could be Facebook, OneNote, WhatsApp, Skype, etc...).
2. Disable Goolge+.
3. Reinstall app that was causing the popups (sign in, get it going).
4. Re-enable Google+ (I actually haven't cause I don't use it, but that's up to you).
It looks like 5.1 fix this, so hang in there!
I just got the Lollipop 5.0 Update for my Note 3 about a week ago. So far, seems to be running ok. I have a list of 11 issues with Lollipop, one which a Samsung Tech Support lady helped me fix (after many calls to tech support, with no help). Another issue I discovered the solution by myself (by accident), and one more issue I found the answer online after reading many articles, and watching many videos.
I have not seen this issue "android.process.acore" with the Lollipop 5.0 Update. Hoping to get another update to fix the remaining issues (Screenshot, Battery Drain, WiFi, RAM, Bluetooth, TouchWiz).

Yea, I tried everything else in this forum and on the web> Facebook uninstall, stop all contacts, calendar, google play related apps and clear data, delete google account, etc...
Have now cleared and uninstalled Skype, Airdroid, and mightytext since it seems to be a Google Contacts syncing issue. This still hasn\t helped. Will keep you all posted if I find the culprit.

You should say what device, model and Android version are you using and if you're rooted or not.
Disable every Xposed Module (if any) and try to delete those chats.
Use an older/newer Whatsapp apk (download them in ApkMirror) and try again, this option should work fine
If those options didn't worked for you, the last thing you can do is to make a Google Drive backup, reinstall WP and don't let it restore the local backup, use the Drive one instead and try to delete the chat again.
Finally if you don't really really really want to lose every chat, install a new rom or use another phone to delete them. The app worked fine in my Note 5 when I had it so the device wouldn't be the problem.

I managed to get GMS running (10.1.0.136) (no USB-Pendrive)

So after hours and hours of following loads of different Guides on YouTube I finally managed to get GMS to fully work again.
I followed his Guide, for the most part, but did some things different.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxqEZMX6Kl8&t=37s
[EDIT: Set your system language to english after resetting your phone, until you (hopefully) got GMS running]
(1) As soon as i reset my device I opened AppGallery, went to settings and froze automatic App-Updates.
(2) After that I uninstalled the Backup App by going into Settings > Apps > Apps > (search for Backup and show system apps) > uninstall
(3) Instead of getting the Purple G App via a USB Pendrive I got it by restoring a (different) backup with hisuite.
(4) Instead of grabbing the files from a pendrive I had them on my internal storage
(5) After getting the PlayStore to work for the very first time (video timestamp 04:59) I installed alot of apps (important!)
Other than that I followed his guide exactly.
*(3) Get the latest version of HiSuite on your computer.
Unpack Backup file for Hisuite.rar. Put the folder inside of it into documents / HiSuite / backup.
Connect your device to your computer via USB Cable. Choose "transfer files" on your phone.
Go into your phones' settings, search for "HDB" and allow HiSuite to use HDB. (HiSuite will now be installed on your phone)
Open it and give it all the permissions that it needs.
On your computer, enter the Code that the Hisuite App shows on your phone.
Hit restore.
HiSuite will try to install the Backup App that we uninstalled before. It's gonna tell you that the installation failed, just ignore it and try to restore the Backup again.
(Backup File for Hisuite.rar): http://www.mediafire.com/file/a7wbsq1hjkz7vnr/Backup_file_for_Hisuite.rar/file
*(5) List of apps that I installed at that point:
Chrome
Google
Google One
Assistant
Drive
Keep Notes
Home
Street View
YouTube
Maps
Gmail
Whatsapp
Play Games
Facebook
Let me know if this worked for you ^^

Im trying to find a solution for other apps, wish me luck
The only way to have push service notification working is to icebox google framework. In that way u'll have notifications and you can even add how many gmail accounts you want. At the price of Google Play Store, you have to use Aurora Store or defroze google framework when you need it
