Is there a way to unlock S-OFF HTC one without htcdev or rooting? I'm trying to go as much stock as possible for warranty purpose, but I will keep s-off, so my device will be completely stock unrooted locked but s-off, can I later unlock it without htcdev?
You can do this with Revone, but it's only compatible with hboot 1.44.
However, why don't unlock with htc dev, go in s-off and lock the bootloader?

I'm assuming you have a carrier branded device so without unlocking the bootloader you are stuck with your carrier rom..... there's not much else you can do.
Without unlocking the bootloader, you can't really do anything to your phone.
You can relock the bootloader so it says "locked" but you need s-off.
You could always unlock the bootloader, get s-off, change what you want, relock to "locked", and then back to s-on.
Just be really reeeeeaaaaaaaallly~ careful not to brick your device when tampering with s-off. Don't go back to s-on with modified/unsigned hboot, etc.
OP can't S-OFF. 1.54 HBOOT and S-ON.

Pretty much screwed for now.

Im gonna post a follow up on this one, as I am in the same boat. Have unfortunately bought a One with a very weak wifi antenna, and suffer from dropouts and short distance. I bought this one yesterday, but I have already rooted to get my titanium backups back.
Is there any ETA for S-OFF on Hboot 1.54? Im not asking for a specific eta, but will it take days, weeks or months before they will break it? Just asking out of curiousity, I'll guess ill have to wait anyway.
It's in the title, is there any way to get s-off and root without downgrading and htc unlock? If not, how can i downgrade?

Hey man , sorry but currently there is no way to go s-off or downgrade on 1.54 hboot and htc dev is the only way to unlock so that you can root your phone.
And when I use HTC dev I can't lock the bootloader without loosing my warranty?

HTCDev is meant for developers, even though anybody can register and unlock their bootloader. The only way to not void your warranty is to be S-Off and remove the tampered flag and change the relocked back to locked. As the previous poster mentioned, there is no way to downgrade Hboot 1.54 unless you are already S-Off so the risk of voiding your warranty will always be there until you can go S-Off, but as you are already on Hboot 1.54 and are S-On, you have no other choice than to remain as you are until a solution is available for the newer Hboot versions.
Btw, you only use HTCDev to get an initial unlock code for your bootloader, flashing that code requires you to use fastboot commands which is the same for relocking your bootloader ... HTC only provide you the code at first unlock.
Okay and when i unlock my bootloader via htcdev, will there be at any point of time a solution to get rid of the tampered and relocked and make it only locked?
the only way I know to get rid of the tampered flag is through having s-off
Lets say i'm running a custom rom with e.g. the TWRP recovery and i unlocked the bootloader with htcdev.
when i just flash CWM Recovery, restore the RUU (its not an exe, a backup of course ) and lock the bootloader again it will say "relocked" won't it? How can i get s-off in the state i mentioned above?

Yes it will say relocked.
You can not get s-off. There is no exploit, and no work around to use the old exploit.

Hello guys,
I'm currently running pure stock 4.2.2, never rooted, never s-offed, never unlocked bootloader. As it is now possible to S-OFF using rumrunner s-off, my question is whether I'll be able to re-lock my bootloader without any evidence of unlocking it through HTCDev. I know it is possible to do with revone tool, but that only works on 1.44 Hboot. As far as I know, I should be able to downgrade Hboot after obtaining S-OFF with rumrunner, but I'm not sure.
TLDR : I want to unlock bootloader on 4.2.2 using HTCDev, can I get it back to state "Locked" then ? Any guide ?
Thanks

Hmm rumrunner tool requires an unlocked bootloader to work so I guess you would need to unlock it through HTCDev
But once S-OFF you can set it back to "Locked" instead of "Relocked". Have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914
Worked for my HTC One and I'm now back on a "Locked" bootloader.

Thank you for your answer. I know that unlocking the bootloader will void warranty by my carrier (Orange Slovakia) but if it is possible to downgrade Hboot after S-OFF, I'd be able to get back status "Locked", there are many guides to do that. So the question is if I can downgrade from 1.54 to 1.44 after S-OFFing the 1.54. Also, will my carrier be informed about my unlocking through HTCDev ? Can they check whether it was unlocked once via HTCDev (although it is "Locked" now) ?
Hello, I am looking to sell my old M7 and I'd like to unlock it to be used on any carrier via S-OFF, but I had to return this phone to S-ON for a warranty repair. Is it possible to unlock my bootloader and get it to S-OFF again? The tool I used to unlock/relock the bootloader was SuperSU and the S-OFF tool was rumrunner. Thank you for your help!

you can unlock the bootloader using the same method you did the first time via htcdev.com (btw SuperSu is the app that monitor and manage super user privileges (root), nothing to do with bootloader lock/unlock)
You should be able to s-off again. You might have to use another s-off tool if you receive your phone back with an updated hboot version. use firewater or sunshine if your phone come back with hboot 1.57. Sunshine cost 25$ but the app will only charge you if the exploit work.
So I thought that being S-OFF allowed you to bypass the normal locked bootloader requirement.
But I've never been able to RUU while S-OFF and unlocked - still had to relock first.
And I've never been able to flash recovery while S-OFF and locked - still had to (re) unlock first.
Any insight?
Thanks
