[HELP] YouTube freeze - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Youtube freezing everytime I playing a video but the sounds still playing and it's going to not responding after tht. It happend after I update to newest youtube. I didn't got this issue when I'm still using TouchWiz, I got this after I using CM 10.1 and 10.2 by Maclaw.
Not sure if it caused by youtube itself or CM.

Go in recovery & wipe cache & dalvik cache only.

Try with older version. Worked for me.
Or dangerous solution. Open YouTube app and put your phone in stove/microwave/warming device of your choice. After some time it should be unfreezed.

Try reflashing it again and this time clear Dalvik Cache... i used the ROM and everything works perfectly...just try Auto Installation(Recommeded) instead of Custom one..

[Q] Can't Play Any Videos on Galaxy S

Hello, I'm a new member here. I've browsed the forums from time to time but never registered until today because I'm in need of some help.
After browsing and searching online and on this forum, I haven't seen anyone with a problem similar to mine.
So, being brief:
Not a single type of video is playable on my phone. Youtube.com, YouTube App, videos from my phone's SD Card, videos I recorded with this phone a few days ago, nothing. Videos I was able to watch on my phone before also suddenly stopped working. I also can't record videos.
On the other hand, my camera works perfectly, so does the music player.
I haven't added any weird adds or anything of the sort. I've attached screenshots of my "About Phone" info, and two other screenshots of what it looks like when I try to play videos on the YouTube App and videos that are directly saved on my phone.
If help is available, I'll appreciate it highly.
Thanks in advance!
Pedro.

However, nothing on YouTube or YTApp.

you may need to reinstall the video player (you have to find a stock video player to re install) or you can do a factory reset...that will wipe out all your current settings , contacts , downloads etc
Did you try clearing youtube data and cache ?

cause your earlier installation is still in your system, it has to be un installed first, for this to replace it. Can download a root un installer from google play and check ( try to un install the video player, not the mx player , if your video player is hidden somewhere in your system
The other option is it has to be flashed it by using odin or by using update.zip in recovery mode.
you can also download from google play the youtube app, and let it install by google ( it can either update it or replace it ) would solve that problem

There was no problem before though, that's what's weird. I've had this phone for about a month and a half, and installed ICS on it on day 3 or so. Ever since, the videos were working properly, lagless and flawlessly.
Just a few days ago problems started appearing.
Just installed a root-uninstaller and it didn't find any Video player at all. Uninstalled YouTube and re-installed it, nothing.

you may have to revert to gingerbread but first try and post into the ICS 4.03 thread, to see if this is a common problem or they have a fix or quick solution for it.
I have little experience in that area as my unit is a korean Galaxy as and only Gingerbread is possible with it.

GTalk Video on CM10 - Solutions & Opinions

Hey all,
The GTalk video call fc bug on CM10 has been discussed sparsely in various threads and in order not to spam/pollute them even more with posts regarding the issue i decided to make a new one, just to figure out if it really works ok for some and why's that. Recently it was mentioned that if one flashes the Xoom modded gapps (by EOS team - found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777987) he'll get video call running since the EOS team has modded the package in order to work with non-NEON devices (or something like that - haven't been able to find clear documentation in their thread). I flashed said gaps package and, even though the phone is able to initiate the video call in the background, i get a foreground 'unfortunately gtalk has closed' or so message. Thats definitely better than before when the program was simply crashing, but doesn't solve the issue. Audio calls run fine though. Pengus mentioned that he wiped dalvik/cache, flashed EOS gapps, rebooted and rebooted again and it worked. Didnt happen for me, still same issue on video calls. I must also note that even b4 flashing EOS gapps, i was able to do video calls and even videoconference (3 way video call) using G+ hangouts, so it must be a program specific issue more than a general android libs situation (excuse my ignorance - doing my best to understand how things work in this OS ). So how do this run for you people? Is there anyone who managed to get it running fine on CM10, and if yes, can you give some details on your current setup? Also, if you did manage to get it running, did you follow a different flashing procedure than the one mentioned here? Thanx for your replies/participation
My current setup: CM10 3/1 nightly, old BL, v28e BB, EOS gapps
Peace

Hi,
here is what I did to solve this: I just took the libvideochat_jni.so from the eos-package and pushed it to /system/lib. Afterwards I cleared gtalk data and cache, restarted the device. Finally I could do video-calls
I've also attached the libvideochat_jni.so I used, maybe someone can make a flashable zip from it. I'm on pengus latest rom+kernel by the way.
Regards,
orgler

I installed the gapps and gtalk video work after my first reboot.
gTalk video doesn't work for me either... Hangouts work, even though they had a hard time starting to work, but eventually I was able to do a video conference, after some hangs and reboots...

UPD: seems i have fixed GTalk video...
You need to take from eos Talk.apk, libvideochat_jni.so, libvideochat_stabilize.so and check, if you have original /system/lib/hw/camera.tegra.so. If you experimented with ICS cam, camera.tegra.so possibly changed.

What version of CM? Nobody else has a problem so it must be something you are doing incorrectly.
Boot into recovery, fully wipe EVERYTHING except for external SD, install CM, install gapps, boot...
Have you ever managed to get G+ working on any CM build?

[Q] CM10.2 and apps not running

Hi,
I'm running Hashcode's great port of CM10.2 (15/11/13) on my Kindle Fire HD 7" and everything looks like it's working properly.
However, I've noticed that a number of apps, in my case exclusively all games, are installing but force closing when I try to run them. I get the pop-up "Unfortunately, XXXX has stopped". These apps used to work perfectly when I was on stock. BTW they are also downloaded from the google playstore.
The apps that are crashing for me include:
Real Boxing
House of the Dead Overkill: LR
Blueprint 3D
Prince of Persia Shadow & Flame
Osmos HD
Granny Smith
Is this a known bug that not all apps are compatible with CM10.2, or is there a trick or something that I should be doing? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing data and cache for the apps, clearing cache/dalvik cache in recovery, but nothing appears to be working.
Appreciate any help you can give!

Hi LinearEquation, thanks for the response. I booted into TWRP and wiped cache and dalvik only, but the apps still didn't load.
In terms of a clean install, I did a factory reset, installed the rom, then wiped cache/dalvik. I then had to reinstall all my previously installed apps. Did I miss a step here?

Thanks mate, appreciate all your help anyway. I actually have tried rolling back to the previous build (I also tried 10.1 and 11.0) but that didn't seem to fix it either. It's no big deal, it's only these games that don't work and everything else I need to use works perfectly.

Edit 2: you know, you can get these apps from the Amazon apk and then try them. At least they might work. The new update to their apk just force closes but I linked a download to the last Amazon app store that still works great. If you want to give it a try to test and see, here is the link

Thanks linear. The only issue is that these apps are all paid apps through the play store so wouldn't want to pay for them again!
I've had a bit more time to pay around with it, I seem to have gotten one app to start working. It may have something to do with the fact that some apps download a data file to the sdcard (/sdcard/android/data or obb). When I deleted the data folder and reran the app, it downloaded the file again but this time the app worked!
However, this only worked with one app, and not all of them had a data folder that I could find. Is this a coincidence, or is there maybe an issue with some of the files that are stored on the sdcard?
I might do another wipe of the kindle, but I'd there also a way to wipe the sdcard?
Thanks heaps

Yea, paid keyboard apps have this issue too. Do you have Titanium Backup? Don't know if that's how you did the remove/restore but that's a great way to remove/restore apps. Pull anything you need from your SD card to your computer as there is no return after a SD card format. I would do that via TWRP.

I'm a flashaholic, I've come for my fix.

Mate that's it, you're a legend! I didn't have to touch the sdcard, I used titanium backup, did a backup, uninstalled then reinstalled, and it works perfectly. I should have realised, I had to do that with my Swype keyboard.
Thanks for your help. If others are having problems with apps not running, this looks like a potential solution.
Cheers
