Hold down power and vol- to reboot in bootloader. Select fasboot and connect usb cable. Open cmd prompt from your adb/fastboot folder. Type "fasboot getvar all" copy paste info except imei and serial number

ran out of time phone sent unrooted will wait and see had all sorts of problems got stuck at getting revone to send to phone so i could remove the tampered and unlocked but at least its booting with the 3 uk logo on boot again
Just an update got phone back today and they fixed it even though handset was rooted
That's encouraging because both my speakers have blown and I'm sending mine off tomorrow. I'm relocked and tampered. Did they reflash your software or was it just a hardware update? I might be cheeky and ask for a full return to stock as well as a speaker replacement? What do you think and how long was the repair?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
They usually don't care if you are rooted and your problem is hardware related. All I might think of if you have used sound mods for increased volume. Then the guys who fix them must be in the know in that case.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Never used any sound mods to my knowledge. Only used the stuff that came in a ROM. Sending it off later today to see what the damage is.

***EDIT*** I put the phone in today for repair and will update this thread with how it all goes. I was told a maximum of two weeks wait.
Getting my phone back today after 8 days away being fixed. Took longer to get to the repair centre and back than the actual repair. Hoping they have restored my firmware but if not I will have to do it myself.
Got a phone back, was expecting them to change out something but they sent me a brand new unit. Speakers working great and I got the original firmware back too. No more relocked and tampered for me. Thanks htc.
ok since my last post I realised the speaker problem came back after a day and it turned out htc just cleaned the speakers and replaced the mic which was never the problem.
I then sent the phone back to htc once again and they fixed it this time but when i got the phone back they had unrooted it and put it back to stock I rerooted the phone and one week later my speaker problem is back :crying:
Edit just phoned htc repair they actually replaced my top speaker and to be honest everything worked gresat unto i put my favourite venom rom on again i cant see how the rom would make a speaker blow just confused on this.

How to check, proceedure etc.
pull out the battery and replace turn on and press and hold the volume down key, on the screen that is shown it states
s-off on
or
s-off off
hope that helps you also get bootloader recovery etc on the same screen. Still not had chance to further play with my project i have the o2 firmware file now but can't seem to strip it as yet
I have s-on :-( xtc clip arrived today so will have a play soon. I'm also on o2 aswell. Desperate to get this rooted lol

Sent from my HTC Salsa C510e using Tapatalk
Mine says the same only s-off, did you have the phone attached while trying to get s-off and what happened when you went through the steps i listed up.
I did it as stated took awhile to restart it though, **** myself incase I bricked it lol.
On the instructions it does say use an SD card....I used a blank one I had spare as I didn't want to use mine. Started it up with the gold card and that's when it took awhile to boot up.m when it did, I restarted it took out SD, inserted mine and checked for s-off or on.
Sent from my HTC Salsa C510e using Tapatalk
try starting with gold card in and choose clear option, you will lose all apps on the phone, and then the unlock option but i am sure i had to do it a few times to be honest, not had another salsa to redo the process i went through to ensure i can write a solid guide which is perfect for people to follow.
What I'm thinking of doing is following the guide u madeand for the clip.
For the gold card I'm going to back my SD up and wipe it so once the gols card is made cary on using ot and recopy it all back on afterwards. Its a right pain as it wipes everything u made lol.
Can't do it just yet as I got a few days of work and need my phone as is lol. I am interested in finding out in another post how they have. Rooted salsa! Maybe get them to copy up the hboot screen and prove its rooted.
sent from my HTC Salsa via Tapatalk
this is my hboot screen took it with my webcam on macbook so not overly clear sorry
I checked mine.
much joy yours can now be rooted etc
Foum maintainance, thread moved, this is not android development
I've tried every guide, and every step twice. I can't get past the white HTC screen. I can get into the bootloader, and recovery screens.
Just don't know where to go next.
very frustrated, and not looking forward to an hours drive to the tech area to get it fixed.

hi enter to the bootloader - fastboot and make it lock with this command ( fastboot oem lock ) and then download and run roger ruu stock
(http://hotfile.com/dl/145619873/245....77.551061.02L_release_219561_signed.exe.html)
like that it should be back to the stock.
Well I'm not entirely sure why it worked this time - lord knows i tried every combination of commands at least twice.
I'm back at setup for Rogers - guess I'll have to learn to live with the low volume issue - which is what prompted me to look for a root to begin with.
Thank you for the assistance at least getting me back to square 1

I have a problem where my internal earphone stopped working after flashing the kernel to a different one. still on the stock ICS ROM though.
Would this download put me back to stock as well. I am running a HTC Velocity (Vivid).
I know this is a noobish question just literally plucking straws here now. been trying to get the earphone working for a day now.

Go to recovery and plug it in. Run ADB and type adb devices. It should say
"List of devices attached"
*Serial number below*
If your serial number pops up it's connected. If it doesn't then it could be your drivers aren't installed. I had that problem and downloading the drivers again fixed it.

You would need the RUU.exe for the Vivid. Not the Raider.
http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-vivid-att/software-updates
Underneath "HTC Vivid™ for AT&T ROM Update | 03.22.2012" click read more in green. Go to the bottom and click download. That is the ICS stock RUU for AT&T Vivid.
it worked
It worked. It break the screen loop. First I relocked. The RUU install the ICS. Now at hboot show: S-ON RL
Could you please tell me what next? I am terrified to get back to the past loop... haha
If you're looking into rooting it..

hey guys,
thanks for the post and the info. I am hoping I can get some help. I recently upgraded to a new ATT - HTC Vivid. I guess I was impatient in wanting to root and flash ROM so I used the [TOOL] HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit V2.2 to "un-lock bootloader" and get root. Afterwards I realized the phone had/has old software/rom (no ICS beats audio etc) - I tried updating the software manually and it would not take - kept getting error messege. Then I got notification that ATT/HTC was trying to "push" the update to my phone but when I tried to install the update it would not work. I keep getting what looks like a dead android with chest open with red exclamation point. I tried a few times and still nothing. so after some research I came across this thread. I am still a "noob" at this I guess so I could really use some help, please. I believe I have to "re-lock bootlaoder" but I am confused as to how to go about this. for example, how do you, "TRY FLASHING THE WCXRECOVERY.IMG USING FASTBOOT FIRST?" - please help! lol like I said - I'm still a noob I guess
I tried the video but it only further confused me

please help!!!! I really need it. I tried using your tutorial to re-lock my Vivid and update ROM to ICS. I got through the first part where I re-locked the phone ut when I got to the part to "unlock" again before flashing recovery I get the "Unlock bootloader" screen and I use volume button to select yes and hit power button but that's it - it's stuck at that scree and will not go further. now my phone won't start normally if I try etc and I even got a red exclamation etc - Please help, I dont know what I did wrong but now I have no phone!!!!!
Thanks a bunch for any and all help
This should probably be in the General forum, not development...
If you pull your battery, then put it back in, then hold VOLDOWN button and the POWER button, do you get into Bootloader mode?
If you can, choose Fastboot mode, and then connect your phone to the PC. (I'm assuming you have the right driver(s) installed so you can issue Fastboot commands to the phone?)
If you've gotten that far, and want to re-lock your bootloader using fastboot, the fastboot command is:
"fastboot oem lock"
Run that in a command prompt window. Make sure you have navigated to the folder that has fastboot.exe, of course. Are you familiar with using command prompt?
Once your bootloader is relocked, you can re-start your phone into bootloader mode, and then flash your stock carrier's RUU using your PC... I hope this helps.

thanks a bunch!!! I'm still a "noob" I guess and I will re-post in General. In the meantime, I can get into Bootloader mode but I am already "Relocked" - from what I understand at this point I was supposed to "Unlock" again and flash recovery using "unlock bin" but at the unlock bootloader screen on my phone after I select yes and press power button nothing happens. my phone freezes at that ponit. I wonder (since you are already re-locked), if you should consider flashing your phones stock RUU (so the phone will be back to stock).
Then unlock your bootloader via HTCDEV again...
Then you can flash a custom recovery, then you can do a nandroid backup of your phone... then you can do your wipes and install a rom?
thanks again for responding, much appreciated. I wish I knew how to flash back to stock. I'm at a loss or stuck right now.I just found the stock RUU and I'm trying to download it but once I get it how do I flash it back to stock? That is actually what Ive been trying to do. You see I recently upgraded to the Vivid and "unlocked bootloader" and "rooted" before I realized I had old software (no ICS - beats audio etc). So after some research I read that I had to "re-lock" so that is what I was trying to do before I got stuck. what do you think I should do fromhere? I'd really like to at least get my phone working again with stock even, just working.
thanks again,
Rafael

OK. So since you are relocked, you should be able to flash your stock RUU.
The RUU is an EXE file. Just run it on your PC (with your phone, in fastboot mode, connected to the PC). It will detect the phone and perform the flashes and when it's finished, your phone will be like stock again.
Yeah...just use ruu like you would any other pc program...it will walk you through the steps in the program...
As for beats...I had beats audio on stock gingerbread? Confused why you don't...I only had gingerbread for a couple days before upgrading but I remember seeing the beats icon in notification...

What is the exact file name of the RUU you are using?
Also, when your phone was working, what was the stock base that it had? Was it Gingerbread? or ICS?
From a quick google search, it seems Error 104 is "wrong hboot version". Interesting... I remember mine said that when I was trying to flash the old GB on my phone which had already been upgraded to ICS.

I tried the old ATT RUU without ICS which is what I had originally and it did not take. I got an error message (error 104). I also did not have beats audio surprisingly enough when I first got the phone which is how I realized I did not have the new/current ATT ROM ICS.

We really need a mod to move this to the "Q&A" section...
Anyways assuming your on completely stock gingerbread you can call this number *#*#682#*#* that will do a force update...vant be root tho, and can't have an unlocked bootloader
Edit...discard this post just read above about the red exclamation mark...can you still get to hboot? If you can...can you verify that it says "re-locked" at the top?

The exclamation marks are a failed ruu...try running the ruu again...it should still work (I think) if not then try pulling the battery and trying again...
Yeah...next time do not pull the plug, I'm sure its still saveable tho..I've had failed ruu flashes before and it mentions something about exclamation marks in the corners, so Im pretty sure the ruu has a fix for it...if I get time ill see if I can get that info from a ruu...

Ok, so firstly, my USB port burnt out the day after I call HTC and ask them to collect my phone to repair the screen -_- (Bad Karma, God is punishing me? You choose)
I can return to stock ROM by sending the ROM over using Airdroid but how can I get back to stock recovery, I didn't make a nandroid backup right after flashing the recovery, could I just drop the recovery.img in dev/block/nandg or is there another way, please help, they are picking my device up on monday, just remembered I also need to relock my bootloader.

Impossible without usb and adb, though you could try using adb wireless over a shared wifi connection but i doubt fastboot works wireless. Here is an app for it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sherdle.adbwireless.
Nope don't trust wireless Usb
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yeah I already thought of wireless ADB, one method I'm thinking of is creating a flashable zip of the RUU and putting onto my sdcard root and loading the bootloader and hoping it recognises it and starts to install, if I do that, I go back to stock everything including recovery I believe
I wouldn't trust that...it's 2013 find a computer

Obviously you didn't read the OP properly, my USB port is BURNT OUT, as in it's blackened, and smells like burning
I've got a similar problem. I have a 2 month old Sprint HTC One, running Stock Plus Goodies v1.10. Had no problems until a week ago. All of a sudden the usb port doesn't work. The only way to charge is to connect the charger and then reboot, which then puts the phone into car mode for some reason, but at least I can charge. Can't connect to pc no matter what I do. The guy at the Sprint store I bought from is a douche, and I know he won't even look at it with it rooted, unlocked, etc., even though the problem is obviously physically with the usb port (isn't it?). Did you find a solution to this problem? For now this is just a minor irritant, but if it gets worse I'm afraid I'll have a non-removable battery in a phone that doesn't charge, aka a $600 paperweight. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!
imboots42 , i have the exaclty same issue as you, something makes me weird,I'm from the debate if physical damage or software, it is worth mentioning that I Use revone for S-OFF my htc one m7, and since renove is a early alpha version can corrupt any partition with usb stuff like drivers or something like this.

Hi guys, I have the non-lte One running on 2.24.707.3. Today, I restored my stock nandroid (4.2.2) and then tried the rumrunner s-off (rumrunner_m7_2.24.401.1). It worked, and I was successfully s-off, superCID on hboot 1.54. I then flashed a modified hboot(descenpet_HBOOT_1.54_2.24_MOD) to remove the red warning. All went well. Later, while I was recieving a call, the phone got hung up, so I did a reset (holding the power + vol down buttons). The phone got switched off, but never booted back up.. I tried holding the power + vol down buttons but even the buttons aren't flashing.. Connecting it to my pc makes no connection sounds, and again holding the combo makes no difference. The charging light also doesn't light up. Please tell me what I should do, and whether it is a hard brick or soft brick. Thanks in advance.

why did you use modified hboot now you are in serious trouble. As you are supercid download any ruu and try flashing and if your pc can connect via fastboot you can fix your phone. To check you must type in adb fastboot devices. if results are positive tell me i can help you then

I used a modded hboot to remove the red warning, have a look at this page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316726)
To do an RUU, I need to reboot in fastboot, but I can't even get the phone to charge.. Of course adb doesn't detect it..
Another point to note is that I rebooted several times after flashing the modded hboot, and it worked all those times, so this is just random... :'(
Why do people care about the red writing? Unless you're sending it to HTC for repair it makes no difference! It just leads to complications such as this

Well, 2 things
1: The process worked, ok? It's a perfect process to remove the red text, and the modded hboot also worked, I rebooted several times after flashing it.
2: The matter of the fact is that I am actually sending it in for camera replacement.. I guess I'll just tel them to replace the mobo along with it..
So, lets stop fighting like losers and find a way to get out of this situation! It'll help many people in the future

C'mon anybody? I can give more info if required, I'd prefer to know how to solve this myself, rather than relying on htc...

If it's not booting up , and you're stuck in that QDLOAD thing, it's usually the mainboard that's fried and HTC replaced the mainboard in my Sensation under the warranty when it happened to me. I was S-OFF at the time as well, and it came back 100% stock and working

I think most of the time, that's not something fixable unless by a service center. You may wanna check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2331454
For one guy the phone "magically" just started again, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Sorry mate.
Ok, thanks for the info.. Maybe I'll make a strong case. My phone was originally replaced with a new one within a week because of battery problems, and scratch marks that I didn't make.. Then the second one had its mobo replaced for that same battery problem, and now I was going to send this in for replacement because my lower speaker is louder than the upper, and my camera has the dreaded pink tint and my phone has a big gap on its side where the service center guys hadn't closed the phone properly..and now this.. Oh boy, am I gonna make a strong case!!

Not yet, no
I bet we'll be seeing a lot more of these threads now...
Okay, although I've read a lot and I've learnt quite some bit, I want to know that if it wasn't the phone that unexpectedly died, was it my mistake somewhere? So I'll start with what I did, step by step, please have a look and tell me if I did anything wrong
1. Originally on ViperOne, tampered and unlocked on hboot 1.54
2. Restored stock nandroid 4.2.2 (2.24.707.3)(India) unrooted
3. Downloaded rumrunner (the version that I previously mentioned)
4. Started the exe
5. Phone reboots 2-3 times, process completes at pouring(3)
6. Reboot to verify s-off
7. Restore ViperOne nandroid
8. Run Revone to reset tampered flag
9. Flash modified hboot to remove warning.. Succeeds, reboot to verify warning gone
10. Reboot like 5-6 times to admire at the bootloader
11. I got a call and my phone hung
12. Reset the phone by holding power+vol down
Aaand the phone never booted again..
