Searching for gps on my rooted mb886 which had jelly bam custom rom just before few minutes today ...currently I have latest custom rom OSE but everything else work fine...but when I try to navigate ...it always show 'searching for gps' and it never shows ..blue icon remains gray...
I checked app gps status but no data...it also says 'searching for gps'
What is the solution?

Hi there
I want to ask you about strange thing a saw after flashing my SGS with any other ROM than my stock PLUS GMS 2.1 Eclair JM2... It's a branded rom which i had when i bought phone in my shop. When i flash any other ROM (like Darky's or Doc's rom) GPS can't catch cold fix... Has problems with lock and sometimes it takes long time to see any satelites... When it get a fix, hot fix are ok later, but after about hour it has again problems with fix... Thats a little annoyng cause on branded ECLAIR GPS works great... I'm always making a wipe and format system before flash a new rom ald flashing roms with wipe option built in... Currently using Doc's v6.2 XXJPY 2.2.1 and same issues - problems with fix after no using gps... The worst is in the morning, after no using gps in more hours... Restarting GPS, restarting GPS status, and fighting with it and sometimes i cant catch fix gps in about 10 - 20 minutes or more... GPS isn't broken i thing if it's working on my stock branded rom... In LbsTestMode everything is seted up corrrectly... On flashed for test JPP radio (someone tells me that is best for GPS) where same problems... Is that normal after wipe that GPS needs few days to work properly? please help me anyone...
Having the same problem. Used pure JPY, GPS was blazing fast and acurate. Now with Doc 6.2 can't even lock to satelites.
if no one helps the only thing will be to flash stock JPY, and apply CWM and kernel with lagfix... But it may not helps... really no one knows whats going on with gps issues after wipe/flash?
Flash this via cwm and see if that fixes your GPS:

nope... didn't help... same problem...
Try this then:

Flash via CWM then do another reboot.
If that fails, I give up

seems that it locks quite fast... 'll check again morning... but somethings strange. after few minutes of working gps is automaticly turning off? why? if im not moving and phone is not used and not moving it is normal?
i'm glad you're getting a quick lock with GPS now. As for your new problem, that is either application or settings related.
Hello! The gps used to work on my Ideos X6 but since a while back I can't get a fix. I thought it was because of flashing different roms and changing kernels that something wasn't compatible but now I've reverted back to stock with SUT and it still doesn't work. I've tried a bunch of gps fix-apps too but no luck. Do you think the gps is broken hardware wise?
try mokee it is beat for GPS
gps locks just in sec's

Try this, install fasterfix and choose a server for your region. In settings go to my location settings, disable "Automatic assisted gps" and "use wireless network" leaving only "use gps sattellites" option enabled. Now install GPS Test and go out into a region where you can see the sky clearly and fire up gps test and see if you get any sattelites. When the big yellow dot becomes green you have a lock, see if you can get any sats.

unfortunately my phone also faces gps problem but not your kind. Its just takes too long to get a f*** lock. Maps app shows direction correctly and turns when I turn, but the navigation app just wouldn't lock soon enough. So I guess the problem might be handset related, each phone behaving uniquely....... So I think its best if you flash stock and return your phone for a replacement before your warranty expires...
just my 2 cents,
whyzee
I had tried all those gps fix apps with no luck. I finally managed to get gps working by flashing an old stock rom with old kernel via SUT. I think the huawei versions' gps doesn't work with all kernels. As far as I can remember the gps stopped working after flashing one of the MIUI ICS roms, but I'm not sure. I'm going to try and root now and install Maclite, cause I'm almost sure I had gps working before with that rom.

MIUI ICS? x.x ICS theme or ICS rom? cuz AFAIK the only MIUI ICS here is zuk's abandoned MIUIv4 proj..
I have your issue as well after flashing to CK's Dark MIUI. but then I flashed edowar's libs-gps file and it's fine.. can be found somewhere in his CM7 thread I think.. now I get locks within 7-30s..
I just got the my HTC One for Sprint and after rooting, I am unable to lock on to GPS using Google Maps. I am currently running Cynogenmod 10.1 20130704 Nightly.
I even tried GPS status to do reset GPS but no luck. If i flash sense based ROM GPS locks on right away. Anyone seen this issue or know of a fix?

back up cm10 restore your sense rom, and lock your gps on then boot to recovery and reinstall cm10
That worked for me once, but didn't seem to stick. I believe gps stopped working once I was in a LTE area.
I edited the /etc/gps.conf file using root browser.
The last line where the setting LPP_PROFILE=X
Stock CM10.1 is 0.
I changed it to 3, rebooted and gps locked right on.
There is a post in the CM10.1 thread (page 48-ish IIRC) that mentions changing it to 1. I tried 3 and it worked for me. I will try 1 if gps stops working again.
Great thanks. That worked like a charm.

Just remember that after every flash you need to change that file again.
Might see if this setting can be merged into the mainline if this is a valid fix.
Having a problem where when I turn my WIFI on it immediately turns off.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution for this?
I cannot say how it happened but I can say it's been doing this ever since I flashed the stock rom - MB886_att-user-4.1.1-9.8.0Q-97_MB886_FFW-20-27-release-keys-ATT-US_BuildA.xml.zip
The first time it was fine but I had to flash it again after another failed boot loop in a custom rom and now it's not working at all.
Roms I have tried: Holo Blur and Carbon
I even restore my original ROM which was stock but I had been using for the last year and the WIFI still is doing the same thing. WEIRD!? X;
Is that good enough info or should I give more?

That fixed it. Thank you much!
so this morning, after reflashing VJ's slim bean rom, i noticed that my wifi wont turn on. i would slide it to [on] and it says "turning on wifi" but it get stuck there and the button becomes grayed out [off].
i have tried reflashing the rom
i have tried complete wipe
(sd,factory,cache,/boot,/system,/data and etc etc etc)
i did use blackrose prior to flashing the rom to adjust the hboot again, though that shouldnt cause this issue right?
what seems to be the problem here? i have been using VJ's rom for like 2 months stable and this has never occured.

Did you finally solve it? I have the same problem with Evervolv's Kitkat. Posted details here. It doesn't seem very common, just found you with similar problems, and this other post.

oddly enough, i clean flashed the rom one last time and eventually the problem fixed itself. after a few days it was back to normal
some things i did try (not sure if it helped or not)
-airplane mode on for a while and then off
-power off phone and take battery/sd/sim card out and let it sit for a few hours
-i got to a point where i could "turn wifi on" (drag slider to ON) and i left it there permanently until it fixed itself
