My 5yr old son was playing with a stock kindle fire and brought it to me saying it stopped working. He was correct because now it is stuck in a boot loop at the kindle logo. Is there anything I can do to fix it. Sorry in advanced if this has been a topic before, at work not much time to search. Any help would be appreciated thanks
You need a fastboot cable and the system restore utility. Here's a link to the utility:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254
Once u have a fast boot cable just ignore step 2 on that link, its kinda confusing but your fast boot cable basicly does what step 2's commands do, but those commands require the kindle to be fully booted.
Also wanted to check since I have seen a few rogue posts, is this a kindle fire 7", 8.9", or kf2., or somehow a kf1? That link I used is for HD 7" so if its another kindle please tell me or it will brick it further.

This is my 1st time asking for help since I really have never needed it. I got a kindle fire HD 7" and rooted it. I added TWRP and a 2nd bootloader. For a long time I was stuck in TWRP and every time I tried to reboot it would just go back to TWRP. This morning I tried using the Kindle fire utility and selected option one. It seemed like it worked. I then rebooted and now I am stuck on the Kindle Fire boot screen. It shows Kindle fire on the screen, goes black for a few seconds, then back to the kindle fire, then goes black again. It keeps doing this over and over again. I am not able to get back into TWRP now. I am not sure what to do at this point. I have read just about every thread out there and cannot find a similar situation to mine. Any guidence would be appreciated.
OK mistake number one, do not use kindle fire utility on a kfhd, you could easily hard brick the kindle. That was designed for first gen it's and they work a bit differently than yours. OK now that I got that out of the way, does your kindle still have the logo turn blue?
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire HD running CM10.1 Tablet UI using xda-developers app
Thanks for the quick reponse. When I installed the 2nd bootloader and TWRP I got into the bootloop. At that time when it would bootloop it would go from orange to blue twice before going back to TWRP again. After I made the mistake of using the Kindle FIre utility it now just keeps on the kindle fire start-up screen and it is always orange.
You are either going to need a fastboot cable to fix or have some luck getting a command to work... If you open the device manager, and plug your kindle in while its off, does a Tate device show up for a few seconds? If so try updating the drivers on the Tate device to the ones in my signature. From there you should be able to use a fastboot command to get the kindle to boot into fastboot. The command would be "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product", but if your not seeing a Tate device then this command will be useless, and I don't wanna finish explaining how to use this command until I know your PC is detecting it, assuming you don't know how to use the fastboot command by itself from a command prompt since I don't know your skill level with android stuff and windows command prompt stuff.

Thanks again for replying. I would say my experience level is low when it comes to command prompts. I get the basics though. I will check when I get home if I see if a Tate device shows up when I connect with my usb and get back to you. Even when I was in TWRP I was having difficulty seeing my device on the computer to add a custom rom to the sd card. I tried sideloading and tried mounting the sd card but nothing worked. I wish now I would have just left it in TWRP and did some more research. Live and learn I guess. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again.
Ok. I turned off the Kindle and then attached the USB to the computer. Nothing is being recognized. I see now too that my adb interface is also gone. It appears the computer is no longer picking up anything. When I attach the Kindle to the computer it starts the bootloop again flashing the kindle fire screen over and over again. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again.
I think your only hope is a fast boot cable, and honestly or just depends how broke it is whether it works or not

Ok. I wanted to clarify what I did to get in the situation that I am in. I rooted my device with no issues. I then decided to install a 2nd bootloader and TWRP. After all was done my Kindle Fire HD 7" booted to TWRP. I could not get my computer to show my device so I was stuck. Every time I would reboot it would flash kindle fire in orange, then in Blue, then in Orange, the in Blue then would go back to TWRP. I then put the device with the USB attached to my computer and from TWRP I put the device into fastboot mode. I then used the KFHD SRT v1.3.5 tool and opened the SR.Tool.bat and chose option 1. After it was done I rebooted and now I am stuck on the Kindle fire screen (in orange) and it will show for a few seconds, turn off, then go back to the kindle fire screen again (in orange) and just keep repeating. I ordered a factory cable to try to get back to fastboot mode but since it did not work for me the 1st time I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me. Thanks in advance.
Are you sure it is a factory/fastboot cable? I would either get them from skorn or proxenusa since I know they are reliable.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire HD running CM10.1 Tablet UI using xda-developers app
Hello again. I don't have the factory cable yet; I just ordered it yesterday. When I used the fastboot mode the last time I entered the mode from TWRP and was connected to my computer with a regular usb charger. When it was in fastboot mode I selected the option 1 from the tool I mentioned in my previous post. I am just wondering if the fastboot did not work with the KFHD tool I used because I did not have a factory cable connected hence why I am stuck on the Kindle fire screen. What do you think?
No, typically it is said to use a fastboot cable just to get the device into fastboot, then plug the normal cable in afterward.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire HD running CM10.1 Tablet UI using xda-developers app
For future reference, when you get your kindle back up and running again, you need to flash a custom ROM to boot. The TWRP boot loop stems from trying to boot into stock ROM, it won't work. So just put a ROM on your kindle before you flash bootloader + twrp next time.

I posted this late last night after spending hours troubleshooting so sorry for the lack of details.
I thought I followed the instructions to a t on this thread. The only step I skipped was backing up my data. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
When my Kindle Fire HD booted, it would loop between the regular Kindle Fire logo and the Blue logo. Eventually it would then go to TWRP. Once in TWRP I tried numerous times to use the Boot Option, Restore Option, and Recovery option to no avail. When I selected Bootloader, I would get the fastboot logo and it would stall there. I had to hard reset to get it to start again. Every time I connected my Kindle to the fastboot cable and entered the ADB or fastboot commens, it would say waiting on device. I also tried using the Factory Restore tool below and that did not work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254
When I connected the Kindle Fire HD to the PC, sometimes it would show as Android Device and other times it showed as PVT-8 or something to that effect.
Here is where I am now. The Kindle Fire HD no longer can boot to TWRP. It just looks the normal Kindle Fire logo and it loops indefinitely. My PC can no longer see the Kindle Fire HD at all. Is this a true brick or do I still have a chance?
BTW, I have multiple micro USB cables for all the devices I use. I am pretty sure the one I am using is the factory. How can I confirm this is a fastboot cable?
How did you get back to an orange only boot loop, it was easy to fix when it was blue... If it only is orange you are probably going to need a fastboot cable. Oh and to satisfy you with an answer as to why it boot looped, its because the newer amazon os detects the older boot loader or twrp, and refuses to boot, so you have to have a ROM ready to flash on the sdcard ahead of time.

Thanks. Anyway to confirm that the cable I have is a fastboot cable? Also, how would I go about performing a repair if it is.
If its a fastboot cable you would know it because you bought it for such occasions and because as soon as you plug it into the kindle it says fastboot in big letters. Once you have it in fastboot use kindle fire first aid and try a system reflash, I'm sure it would boot up without a doubt if you used an older version of the Amazon os, like I think 7.4.2 or older, but I don't know what version kffa uses, so if it still doesn't boot after doing that, try using the kindle fire system restore tool.

Thank you. Much appreciated. I ordered one from Amazon but will see about making one myself.
Are you trying to boot into Stock Amazon OS? That's your issue. Download a ROM and proper Google Apps package and either put them on your SD Card by mounting USB Storage in TWRP, or sideload flash a ROM, then you'll boot without issue. Don't forget to factory reset and wipe /system beforehand! I had this same issue my first time.

Why option 1? That is a different version of the tablet. You want to run KFFA and select 'completely restore the KFHD 7 7.2.3' This should be #3 of KFFA.
So once you have the tablet in fastboot, just run KFFA and go from there. Some files will download and then KFFA will push them onto your tablet. After that, your tablet will be stock and you can root and remove OTA updates from there. Keep an eye on your computer screen as the script will tell you what's going on.

Hi all,
sorry if it's a noob question.. i tried to root and installa second bootloader on my KF HD7" today following this guide [REF] Installing Kindle Fire HD 7" 2nd-Bootloader + TWRP Complete Tutorial.
Unfortunately i ended up with an unusable tablet..
When i press the power button i press also the volume up key and unpress it short after the kindle logo gets blue.. then i simply get a Fastboot logo (see attached screenshot) and can't do anything..
Do i need to buy a fastboot cable now or what?
Thanks in advance
M
Small update, when the tablet is stuck on that logo, i can see it in window's device manager listed as Tate-PVT-08 Maybe i can still hope to get it woking some way??
Use Kindle fire first aide. Flash 7.2.3. When it asks if you're already in fastboot say yes

The fact you see Tate says your drivers are good. I would suggest you get a fastboot cord. Kindle Fire FirstAide has been acting up as of late. I would look for the Kindle Fire Restore tool on here. You can try to use it with regular USB since you are in fastboot already. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 chose the 2nd one down, the 7.2.3 with separate restore option.

Ok, so i tried KKFA and nothing, then tried the method suggested by LinearEquation, that seemed to work as i cpould see the system image transferred and everything was ok with the tool, but... after the reboot now i have a 60 seconds of kindle fire logo showing on and off and then just a black screen.
No more fast boot mode and the device does'nt show up anymore in windows
I guess now i really need a fastboot cord?
doh
Yes, you need a fastboot cord now. You're in a bootloop. Your drivers won't be recognised at the moment. Use the same tool after obtaining a fastboot cord. Use the 7.2.3 with restore download. Make sure to wipe (#3 think) after restore before rebooting into system.
There have been a few bootloops from this. Should be fairly easy to get past.

I do have factory fastboot cord. The problem is it won't stay on. It goes in to fastboot then shuts off, then on again to fastboot, then off, etc. Starts when powered on with cord or without cord. I can shut it down with power button, but as soon as it is started on it goes into the on/off fastboot loop. Any solution would be greatfully appreaciated.

Ok i understand. The tablet is powered off by the 30 second hard method. As soon as it is powered on it goes into fastboot mod and after one second it shuts down. If it is plugged into the computer it boots into fastboot, regardless of the type cord used, and then shuts down, then starts up, then shuts down, repeatedly looping on/off. It does the same thing when plugged into the wall charger except it shuts off or the screen goes blank.. It just won't stay on long enough for the pc and adb to see it to stop it from this crazy on/off fastboot loop. I think it is stuck in some kind of fastboot command. Maybe when it is fully drained, and I recharge it, or try to, it will stay on. Any further suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Do you have an actual fastboot cord or just a standard USB cord? ADB commands are not possible right now. You are looping for some reason. Anytime you turn it on, charge it or otherwise energize the tablet, you will get that same loop. I need to know if you have an actual fastboot cord or not because this will force the tablet into fastboot and make it stay there at which time you will can attempt a system restore.
Also, did you download SDK before modding to be able to execute fastboot/ADB commands?

Yes, I have an actual fastboot cord. When I used it, the tablet boots into fastboot screen, then immediately shuts down, then up, then down. It will not stay on in fastboot mode or any other mode. It will not stay on in fastboot or any mode. It appears to be stuck in a fastboot reboot fastboot type loop. I do have SDK installed and used it to mod the KFHD8.9 and KFOtter using TRWP 2.6.3.1 and CM 11.1 nightlies. No problems with those two tabs. But the this KFHD7 is looping and I can't stop it. It almost sounds like you have a faulty fastboot cord or perhaps the USB port you're using is not staying energized. A fastboot cords only job, for the Kindle's, is to put the tablet in fastboot mod by adding 5Volts to pin one forcing the tablet into fastboot.
Try a different USB port, check the voltage output on cord or try a new cord all together. That's would be my next move.

Can you tell me what you were doing when this happened? What did you flash/push and onto a KFHD7 2012 I assume? And it just flashes "fastboot no matter what?
Power your tablet off and open a command and type 'fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" with no quotes and hit enter. You should now see <waiting for device> Now plug your KFHD7 into the computer via USB. It should boot into fastboot and return tate-xxx-xxx.
I am trying to install CM on a Kindle and got put in beween a rock and a hard place.
I was able to successfully able to root the Kindle. I don't remember what method I used. After that, I installed the FlashFire app and tried installing TWRP. After rebooting, the kindle is in a bootloop. It goes to the Kindle screen for about 3 secs and then reboots. I dont see any movement in the logo.
I made a 'factory cable' and am able to get it in fastboot mode. The only problem is, I can not get ADB to work. I have the Amazon drivers installed. I do 'adb devices' and nothing shows up. I have tried using a different port and un/reinstalling the drivers.
Any help/suggestions appreciated.

No. The logo stays orange.
EDIT: Actually, the "Kindle" is blue but the rest is orange.
If the kindle logo is blue that's good, hold I think its volume down when the logo is orange until it turns blue and recovery should come up at which point I think this will help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459498

Neither of the volume buttons are taking me to a recovery.
Well in that case you can always go for using kffa to restore it using your fastboot cable, though you will probably need to restore the boot loader manually too, just remember too check the boot loaders md5sum before flashing it so you don't hard brick.
