[Q] Very odd audio problem w/aJays one+ - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my note II got stolen recently and i switched back to my GS. On the note my aJays worked perfectly, but i pluggedd them into my GS, and i noticed at once that the sound quality was VERY bad. So i found out after a while that while held the headset button down(the pause/unpause/answer call button) on the aJays, the sound quality would go back to normal. The headset works normally on my Windows PC.
I hove no idea what to do, and couldn't find anything like it on XDA or any other site. Other headphones work fine on the GS, but i dont have any other headsets with button(s) to check if the phone just misreads all buttons. I have only used two ROMs since i started using the GS again, both CM-based, and it occurred on both.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Speaker not fully duplex?

Hi,
I have a very weird problem with my Tytn II, which I bought little over a week now.
People I was talking to complained they didn't hear me very good, the sound appeared to drop. It occured to me that it was happening when I used the speaker (handsfree) of the phone.
I did some testing, and this is what happens:
I (with the Tytn II) call person X, and when I and person X are talking together, person X cannot hear me, the sound on his side simply fades to nothing, until 1 of us keeps quiet. The same happens when for example sound from my car is picked up by the phone, thus resulting in the device not being usable in the car, since there's always some noise. I however on my side keep hearing person X, it's person X that doesn't hear me.
It happens with 2 sim cards, everyone I call, did a hard reset, HTC support doesn't know the problem...
I'm puzzled. Can anyone suggest anything? Or is it faulty?
Thanks
no, mine does the same thing. I got it a few days ago and when i used speaker while driving, i could hear the other person perfect, but they cant seem to hear me. It feels like half duplex. i hope this is fixable
Damn, it seems widespread then...?
Anyone who can test it?
maybe it has to do with whatever noise cancelling algorithm is in effect is mucking everything up

Meaning that every single device would have this, and thus mine not being faulty?
I had the same problem but remembered that there was an automatic sound function which turns down the volume when talking is too hard and turns it up when to soft. Its called microphone agc and you can find it under system configuration. Now that it's turned off my dutch htc tytn II works fine in handsfree mode. Hoop this helps you also

It's already turned off :-( .
However, I just called with HTC, and they said it's because of the mic and the speaker being too close to each other, and thus it compensates.
They say every model has it however, they did a test today and the result was that it was a feature, not a bug...
Anyone here who does not have it on his device?
I have this problem all the time, both on speaker and just using the phone to my ear as normal.
People complain I am very quiet or that the sound is choppy and I sound like a robot
I used to have this problem on the O2 XDA IIs a few years ago.
Anyone else have it too? I'd like to know asap if this device is faulty, or if it's normal?
Sometimes, it seems that when I'm holding it to my ear, the sound seem to drop on the other side too...
I have exactly the same problem. People have trouble hearing me with loudspeaker switched on. Without speaker they can hear me perfectly.
I have the same problem too. Just try to disable the Microphone AGC thing and it fixes the problem. Thanks downnootje.
I have teh same problem , but I tried something and it is improved the Operation , try to minimize the Speaker volume to the minimum level and then it improes a little and it works for me ; not all the time but that is what we can do at the moment
I'm convinced now that it's a mojor problem.
Mine even got worse: since yesterday, it's happening without handsfree too, people can't almost hear me when I just hold it to my ear...
Is this a phone still, or can't it be used as such?
try enableing Microphone AGC thing, restart phone, and disable it
Me too. Juz got my set 2 days back. The other party hears my voice intermittently chop-off...
I have faced the similar problem on a particular China-made TV phone too. Tested two other units of the same model still the same. It seems to me the phone design issue, as after I changed to another model of China-made TV phone, the problem solved.
Sigh! Already got this expensive phone, think have to bear with this feature then if it is really cannot be resolved by new ROM.
same problem
i have the same problem...with my 8525 when I was on the train or in a similar noisy situation i never had any trouble with people hearing me on the other end...with the tilt i can't even carry on a conversation on the train...i called tech support and they told me to swap it out for a new one.

I've tried that and it doesn't help! Quite sad about it. I need to use speaker handsfree especially during driving.... Don't really like to hook-up the headset or BT headset... too messy for wired headset and too tedius (charging) for BT headset...
Now that I know its half duplex it works pretty well in the car - I just wait for the other person to stop talking
Surur
I will be sending mine to HTC for a planned hardware fix as they agreed there is a defect that affects all kaiser and tilts, but NOT the MDA VARIO III. this is a known issue and is hardware related. Good news for those who havent purchased one yet. I will sell mine on ebay if they dont asign me a RA soon. I rather have the MDA VARIO III as it has 2 cams.
(doesnt your HTC TYTN2 has 2 camera's?)
Same problem here. Hope for a sollution soon!
Will call HTC too soon, so theyll have more complaints about this defect.

[Q] Bizarre issue with headset when plugged to PC

I'm of course talking about the stock headset that came shipped with the Galaxy S. The earphones work like a charm when plugged to the phone, but if I want to use them with my laptop, the sound I get is very distorted (it sounds like all the bass is minimized and speech is garbled).
The strange thing is that the sound output goes back to normal as long as I am holding the button on the headset. I want to know whether anyone else has had this problem and can help fix this problem.
I know this problem isn't exactly related to the phone, but I couldn't find anywhere else to seek a solution.
It is a known issue. Headsets for Galaxy have swapped ground and mic lines (in relevance to most common headsets), so this is the reason...
Yeh. Same layout as nokia n97 headsets. Annoying

[Q] Galaxy S - low volume on headset, unless holding the headset button

hello.
I have very annoying problem since day one on my Galaxy S I9000 with FroYo. The volume on headset(original) is too low, barely audible, unless I press and hold the button that is on the headset. I have tried to hook up stereo speakers with 3.5mm jack and they have very low volume as well. I have tried headphones from motorola and blackberry - same thing - low volume unless holding the headset button.
I have Hannspree Hannspad SN10T1 as well and it has the same problem, it runs android 2.2. No matter what volume boosting apps I use the problem persists on both devices.
P.S. Same headsets (samsung original, blackberry, and motorola) I used to test both devices - work perfectly on my motorola defy phone. So I presume that the headsets are OK. It must be something wrong with Galaxy S and Hannspad.
Both devices are hard resetted and non-rooted.
Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks

And you are sure that the plug is all the way down?

Absolutely sure. Even tried to pull it a bit, but then just one of the headphones working. The plug goes all the way down as it should, still very low volume.
I can't be the only one with two completely different devices running android 2.2 that share absolutely the same problem.
Is there any software that can swap channels on the headsets? or swap channel for the microphone with one of the speakers, because it seems to be non-propperly configured channels to me.
Any other suggestions?
the pin-out configuration for these phones are different from most and the only headsets that i know that are compatible are nokia headsets. theres also adapters you can buy that will convert the wires the right way so the earphones/mic/button all work properly.
this one is confirmed to work: http://www.meelec.com/MEE_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm
Thank you very much for clearing that out evil-doer !
I will try one of those.
I thought - when I had this problem - that my headset was defect. So I bought a new one from eBay.
Everything is nice so far - The new one is working great.
I hadn't the chance to test if it's working on another device.
is there to solve this through the service mode?

Sony BTN-200 Bluetooth headset

Hi guys!
So, as most of you probably know, Sony BTN-200 became available several weeks ago. This headset features support of latest Bluetooth profiles and NFC Easy Connect.
Yesterday, I received it from Amazon. So far, so good. Although I have found couple minuses:
1. It only pairs with one device (in difference from MW600, which was able to pair with 2 mobiles and computer)
2. While connected to my XPERIA T the volume is very low even on maximum level.
So, with first I can deal, no problem. But the second problem is quite dissatisfying, I've tried several sound enhancements, nothing.
Any ideas?
And if any of you also have bought it, please share your experience.
Hi,
I have read in a different post,
That after trying to make a screenshot the volume suddenly became louder!
I still have to try this my self as I have the same problem with my bluetooth headset.
It is just not loud enough to be listening in the subway...
Never had the problem using same headset and HTC desire Z
I ll try it tonight
Cheers
Tony
I have to bump this thread up.
I've recently bought this headset and I have exactly the same problem as described in the first post. The volume is way too quiet but after making a screenshot it becomes much louder... this is really strange as the headset itself works perfectly with calls etc. I'm a little bit unsatisfied with the audio quality but still the volume problem is the biggest one as I don't want to make a screenshot every time it's too low...

[Q] Problem with speaker and microphone.

I'm running the latest version of SlimLP on 5.1.1. The issue also happens on stock firmware too. Here are the problems:
1. The speaker doesn't work, except extremely rare circumstances when I hear a notification, usually from FB Messenger.
2. The microphone doesn't pick my voice up during calls, forcing me to use an integrated mic on headphones or loudspeaker.
3. The earspeaker doesn't seem to work.
4. When I record video or something, the sound is picked up, so obviously the microphone is still functional.
I've used the Xperia diagnostics app, and the microphone isn't deemed functional on that, the ear speaker doesn't work at all, but the loudspeaker works perfectly fine. I really don't know what to do. I don't think this is a hardware issue with any of them except the earspeaker. Anyone know fixes? I've tried pressing down on the areas but that doesn't seem to have an effect.

I also had a similar issue on another Xperia and I simply changed my firmware. Most likely I must have downgraded it. However, there is an app called SOUND ABOUT
That should fix the sound problems. Quote back in case you expect a reply!

I've tried the app before, it didn't work, now it does! Thank God, I'm pretty damn happy about this. Bought the pro licence.
When I plug my headphones in however, sound keeps coming out the normal speaker, rather then the headphones. Hmm.

Trust me this is a pure software issue. I had such problems with my device once. Sometimes plugging in and plugging out head phones a few times fixes it as well.
