[Q] I think I erased the bootloader - Motorola Droid Bionic

I have PAC rom installed to slot 2 and nothing else installed. I had the Verizon stock rom installed at the stock rom slot with an older version of Safestrap installed. I deleted everything in the stock slot and then I installed the newest version of Safestrap on the PAC rom. When I rebooted the phone, the Safestrap screen didn't load and it took a while before it booted into the PAC rom. I do not see the safestrap screen at all, so I uninstalled the recovery and safestrap. Now when the phone reboots it freezes at a blank screen.
I'm downloading the Verizon stock rom again and I'm going to try to install it using the vol up and vol dn + pwr key into recover mode. I will rename the file to Update.zip and install it from an sd card.
Am I missing something or am I on the wrong track. Any feedback would be appreciated.
edit: that didn't work. It always says installation aborted

You don't have anything on the Stock slot to boot too. Sounds like since you installed SS 3.60 while using PAC on Slot 2 and uninstalled stock slot the phone will have nothing to boot to. Your only way to get everything back is to FXZ. You can do that using Either straight RSD or go get the latest restore program from House of Moto. You will have to research to best path to regain Root access. There are a few different ways to do so but all of them evolve using a Linux OS to accomplish this.

you wouldn't have the links from that site do you? I registered before and they never admitted me then. I just registered again but I don't think they are going to accept me.
I have the drivers installed but rsdlite won't recognize my phone. and thank you for helping me, I extremely appreciate it.

I finally got rsdlite to recognize my phone. But now when I try to flash cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml I get the error message failed flashing process 1/24 flash mbm "allow mbm-bootloader-flashing-mbm.bin" phone returned fail.

Click on the House of Moto in the reply I sent earlier. It is a hyper link to that page. Are you using Windows or Linux?

Check your PM.....:good:

I never got a confirmation email from them. I got your pm though, thank you very much for that and for all your help. I have to wait until I get my wall battery charger. Mine is completely dead with the white light in corner. The cable charger doesn't work and there's no charging light to see if it's charging or not.

If all else fails on that you can always do this to charge it....
Take an oem cable and cut off the micro usb end off. Then strip the red and black wires down. After that you need to line up the wires as they are in this picture.

Get the red settled on the + and the black on the - then use the battery to lock them into place. Understand? After that you can plug it in and it'll power your phone through the fxz but you'll need another oem Moto cable to connect it to your comp for the fxz. Hope you have 2 and yes this is the only way.
You can use any old USB cable connection to do this by the way...

that wire splice battery charge trick worked perfectly. I wish I would have known about that a while ago.
Nothing I do works to flash it. I'm using cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml which is Jelly Bean, and that's what I had in the stock slot before I messed it all up. I get the error message please check input file. either xml format is wrong or image files associated with it are missing. I saw in another thread to delete 2 lines from the xml and then rebuild the .zip. I tried that also and I still get the same error message.

You need to download the recommended files Samuri has to use for House of Moto. Those files he has are already pre-setup so if you follow his steps to the letter your phone will be up and running in no time.

@nobe1976, I sent you a pm. thank for all of your help.

OK, I finally got it to flash back to stock and I'm sort of on my way. I'm just trying to root it now so I can install safestrap so I can recover the 2 backups I made and get back to where I was before this all went wrong. The way I fixed it, was I saw on another forum to run rsdlite in compatibility mode for xp. That did the trick. No error messages after that and it flashed smoothly.
Now the problem I'm having now is that when I plug the phone in by usb it does nothing. I don't get any information in the notification bar or anything. Is there a way to root the phone by an app or anything these days or do I have to use usb?

The only way to Root with JB is to use this method Here on Windows. You will need the USB connection for ADB to work. The plus thing is that this guys setup is easy and should work for you. The VM setup he made already has all the proper stuff needed to establish the connection to your phone.

that's the method I've used before, I just can't get my computer to recognize my phone when I plug it in by usb. that's the only thing holding me back right now.

Are you using the OEM cable to do this??? What OS are you using?

that's the strange thing, I'm using the same cable and windows 8 that I've always been using. I'm pretty sure I have the correct drivers installed. I dunno, I'm really lost at this point.

Is it Win8 64bit or 32bit?

-3-button mode doesnt work, I get in by plugging the phone into PC w/ USB cable.
- I can get Odin One click to see the cappy & gets stuck on:
<ID:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
Anyone have a clue how to fix?
Please help. I miss my cappy. Thanks.
That is definitely download mode if it's pulling up on odin. I would give different ports and a different computer a try this issue has happened to me before sometimes you have to get it into dl mode before or after you start odin.
Hope this helps!
this has been covered in pretty much every thread that involves odin in any way...
reboot pc, swap usb ports to one in the back, if already in the back swaitch to another. right click on odin run as admin BEFORE you plug the phone in.
if you still get the issue try another usb cable, a different pc, or use heimdall instead of odin.
tried on 3 PCs on different ports. 2 different USB cables and both Odin & Heimdall.
no avail.

Try Heimdall on a Linux machine.

1. Your phone is not hard bricked, yet. Don't panic. Read more and do as people are suggesting you.
2. Like studacris suggested, try other PCs, another USB cable etc. And Make sure to use the USB port which is directly on motherboard (not using some sort of USB extension or hub). Try another USB cable. Make sure it is in good contact with Phone as well as PC.
3. Download the Odin 1-click again to make sure you dont have the corrupt file.
thanks, i tried to do it on a mac and pc and it still wont work. My mac wont even recognize my phone. I left it overnight and i think the battery is drained. I dont think it's charging too. Is there an easier solution, or should I just send it back to atnt?

AP FastBoot Flash mode (s) (Flash Failure

Hi ,
The other day I decided to fxz'ed my phone back to stock. Somewhere during the flash i seemed to have gotten a flash failure, but my phone rebooted and seemed to be fine, stock. I thought nothing of it.
I was out and about today without my car charger and my phone died. When I got home I plugged my phone into my wall charger and instead of the normal battery on my screen the phone booted to this :
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S) (Flash Failure)
0A.61
Battery Low
Cannot Program
Connect USB
Data Cable
I cant seem to get to any other mode.
Im hoping i didnt brick my phone. Any Help Would be greatly appreciated .
Do this and will reflash the system http://rootzwiki.com/index.php?/top...nd-43V3R-Root-For-The-Bionic-V2.1#entry127684

Power the phone off. The try to boot into the bootloader (press and hold Vol up / vol Down, then press and hold power until it comes on).
Select Normal boot - if it boots normally this may be something that you have to live with. Every time you turn the phone off and power it back on, you'll need to do this. If you remember to do it then you can bypass directly to the bootloader menu and select boot normally, and not have to see that stupid flash failure message.
My phone does this too. So does cellzealot's. We both tried to do different things in testing and both ended up with the same symptom.
I tried to FXZ back to pure stock to see if I could do it. I was already on 5.7.893, so that in effect may have b0rked the flash, and it sounds like you might have done the same thing.
Try reflashing using a desktop and the back usb ports

Solution Ever Found?
I have this very same problem. Was a solution ever found? Thanks.
Have also been running into the problem, but I've jerryrigged it to be able to charge the battery. Now I'm at the point where I can't find any method to fix my soft bricked bionic (ran into the problem rolling back to 5.5.893 from 5.7.893). Now I'm stuck on the AP Fastboot menu and can't get past loading the system.img whether that using the RSD Lite methor or the moto-fastboot method. One-click methods haven't worked either and I keep trying anything I can. Please help, I'm desperate right meow.
Is your battery charged? Are you trying to get on .902?
Go to link below. There find the fX files and download the one that will do a full phone format including webtop and bootloader. (Its marked complete)Then make sure all drivers are installed in windows and use RSD lite to flash. It will take over half an hour to flash. Had same problem and it fixed it. The key is the file you use to flash the phone. Needs to be the full file. Rom/Webtop/Bootloader
Here is the link. And be sure you download the complete one and not minimal. Do not uncompress the archive either. Use rsd lite and the file in its entirety. Let rsd do any uncompressing needed

Pretty sure you don't have to go through all of this...
But whatever works, I guess.
Those are old files. You don't want to use those files anymore and depending on the current state of your phone they won't work anyway.
You need to use RSD Lite 5.5 and the new full .902 XML.zip and it will restore your phone.
The latest driver version is also now 5.5 but the 5.4 drivers should work fine for Bionic.
All of the old tools and methods are no longer current and using the new file either complete with RSD Lite or flashing specific partition images with fastboot, if you know what needs to be fixed, is the way to restore your phone.
All of these methods will require a sufficiently charged battery to succeed or a factory flash cable that bypasses the battery altogether, as well as a PC with at least 4gb of RAM in order to manage the large image files. The time is dependent on you PC specs.
I have the same problem too

Re-read CellZealot's post. If you have any trouble using rsdlite or obtaining the files, hit me up and I will be happy to help.
If your battery is low or dead then you have several options, two of them "free" and several requiring a purchase.
First, find someone with a Bionic that will let you charge your battery in their phone.
Second, cut a charger cable or USB cable and hot wire the stripped ends to the battery terminals in the phone to charge it enough to recover the phone. This is dangerous and not recommended but it will work and can be managed on your own if you have a spare cable.
Third, buy an spare battery which will likely come with enough charge to get through a flash cycle.
Fourth, buy an external battery charger and use it to charge your battery completely and then restore your phone.
Fifth, buy a Motorola Factory flash cable or make one yourself if your are skilled with a micro soldering iron and motivated. This type of cable has a different pin out and has the +5v on pin 1 which bypasses the battery and powers the device directly even without a battery inserted at all.
This is a permanent solution and such a cable can be used to restore any Motorola device and many others that are configured in the same way.
There is only one place to get one publicly, and I should disclose that I am directly involved with that place. We sell these cables and had them produced for us to our specification just for this purpose.

I know this post is old, but I've recently rebuilt a Droid. Turns out they CAN charge.
Pull the battery, and hold down one of the keys while replacing battery and connecting to power.
The droid will show the power off charging battery icon then and it charges fine.
Check Youtube, there are several videos.

Droid 4 Utility Gingerbread Only

Gingerbread only. If you are on ICS this will not work. Don't try! Get the ICS only tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1779810
This is based on the original Droid 4 Utility with edits. Contains the complete GB fastboot files to restore your phone, root, unroot, install voodoo rootkeeper, safestrap of BG, etc. Extract after downloading and doubleclick the script to run.
Download here: Droid4 GB Only.zip - 1.19 GB
MD5 checksum posted at the hosting site.
If you have trouble connecting be sure usb debugging is on and you have the latest moto drivers installed. Moto drivers here: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/78460/p/30,6720,8302
For menu 1 or 2 your phone must be in fastboot mode first. Enter this by using the tool option or manually by powering off, then hold both volume buttons and pressing power for a few seconds, release the power button and select "ap fastboot".
And of course be sure you have a good usb cable and a full battery if restoring your GB system.
Use at your own risk.
My phone seems to have no Android OS. It also has a dead battery. Plugging in the charger only shows the Motorola Dual Core screen. It won't turn on when connected to the pc. I can still boot to the Boot Mode Selection Menu. I also have a factory cable coming in a couple of days. Will I be able to use this utility using this cable? I'm having troubles rooting my .219 D4.
I installed the drivers, and according to the Moto device manager, I am up to date. USB Debugging is checked on.
When I try to root it using this tool (menu 3) and the phone is plugged in with charge only mode (using a stock Moto cable), this is what the command prompt spits out. It isn't instant, it's usually done over the course of 2 minutes:

It doesn't actually reboot on its own, and after rebooting manually, there is no SU app in my drawer.
I then tried to use menu 3 while in AP Fastboot mode, by using power and both volume buttons to get into the fastboot menu. I plug in my phone to the computer, and run the script and I get this:
It just hangs there for over 5 minutes and the phone doesn't do anything.
Here is the setup for my latter attempt:
Please help me figure this out. Could the drivers be corrupt? I've uninstalled and re installed the device manager from moto a couple of times. Could my anti-virus be blocking something? I think that the issue stems from a problem in the interface between the device and the computer.
Thanks in advance for any help
Hmm..it looks like the tool is possibly seeing more than one ADB server running. I'd the phone and let it up come up normal. Open up a task manager and go to the process tab. Are you seeing more than one ADB.exe process running? For some reason the tool thinks you have more than one device attached and as a result, isn't sure where to send the exploit.
This doesn't explain the troubles with Fastboot however.
When I plug in my phone and open up the tool, one adb.exe shows up in my task manager. Once I run the root script, I see a second one open. I tried killing it, and it will just open up again. How do I fix this?
If this is on the computer side, why wouldn't it explain the Fastboot problem?
SOLVED: Well, the problem wasn't really solved, but I transferred all the necessary tools to a different PC and rooted the device. So it was an issue with the original computer. MY theory is that it was an issue with the ADB interface from the Moto drivers. I'm purely spitballing on that though.
Thanks for the help anyways, guys. Time to have some modding fun!
Is there a mirror? I can't seem to download this...
Thanks for the utility!
I had some complications with the OTA update and realized that a fastboot back to stock was the only remedy. I couldn't find a linux solution (am I missing something?) so I modified the script to use moto-fastboot32. Worked great, thanks again!

Just another request for a new mirror for this file. I would really like to unroot so I can update to ICS.
I don't think you have to unroot to update... If you've made a lot of changes to your system file, you'll probably have to undo them or fastboot back to stock (this includes installing safe strap)

USB not working but system is alive - how to flash?

Hey guys,
I got a SGS I9000 here from a friend of mine who got it from egay (stupid, but nvm) and I try to fix the device but till now I was not lucky.
I want to upgrade to a newer / higher version but the "faulty" USB makes it very difficult.
Here are the facts:
- The device is running 2.3.3 Gingerbread
- Device Information: GT-I9000HKYDBT + PDA: I9000XWJVI , PHONE: I9000XXJVO, CSC: I9000DBTJV2
- Charging via USB does work, data connection does not work
- Entering Recovery Mode works
- CWM is not installed
- Samsung Kies is installed
- Entering Download Mode works
- External micro-SD Cards are being recognized at Android
- If I connect the device in Windows or Download Mode, the message "USB-Device was not recognized" comes up
What I`ve tried till now:
- three different micro-USB cables (original Samsung, HTC and Motorola)
- two different PCs with Kies installed and not installed
- Tried to flash via Recovery Mode but nothing is shown on the "external SD", even after renaming to update.zip
- Managed to copy files into internal flash but since the "original" Recovery Mode seems to have a verification, the flash process aborts either with
"E:signature verification failed" or "E:failed to verify whole-file signature"
- Odin of course but USB data does not work unfortunately so Odin as well
So the big question for me is:
Is there ANY chance to root/flash the device with the actual difficulties?
Any help or hints are highly appreciated.
Cheers

you may have to try all these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 But first break that cycle by removing battery and reinsert after a few min and check phone connection or Mobile Odin is another option
email the recovery file to yourself or upload to dropbox. then download to your phone and flash away!
Don't forget to thoroughly clean your micro usb connector. I once had the same issue with my sgs. Different cables or drivers didn't work. I was about to give up on it, but then fixed it by cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and very tiny dentaid toothbrushes.
Afterwards it worked like a charm. Worth giving a shot, since these connectors collect a lot of dust/dirt over time.

I did mention this thread yesterday but after installing all different drivers, switching of the PC completely and disconnecting all devices, turning BT ON/OFF, switching between Dev Mode and MSD I'm at the same position as before.
Doesn't matter which cable I use, I just get always the same fking message about Device is not being recognized.
In the meantime, I got a 2nd SGS from a friend of mine which works perfectly after connecting the device with my PC.
It starts immediately with the driver installation and is ready in couple of seconds.
I also tried to put the cable carefully into the USB but it doesn't help either.
Any other suggestions?

That would mean, its your USB slot on the phone, that needs a solution, either you have to examine it very closely for damage to resolve it or its internal and you may have to change it.
hey
can u do to download mode??
if u can then upgrade using Odin...
And the uUSB issues cam with my SGS too,but after flashing the firwmare via odin there was no issues...i flashed 2.3.6 ValuePack..
U too can give it a shot..

Yep, doesn't look good and now I'm quite sure this cannot be solved easily.

Well, as told above, I can enter download mode but USB DATA connection does not work!
So from my understanding, Odin only works if there's a valid connection, otherwise I could flash anything and would not have the problem
Mobile Odin does not work due to the root restriction.
Is there any way to flash another ROM or get the the device rooted with these restrictions?
Stuck on First Screen
Well this is not an answer to the problem. Well am having the same problem as you, just mine is more complicated.
I managed to root using Z4root by copying the APK file on external sd .
I got cmw and entered recovery.
I updated using the CM10-unofficial rom that is in the development forum
I restored the nand that i did in recovery and now the phone is frozen (Stuck) on the first boot screen (Galaxy S GT-i9000 SCREEN)
Now I can go to Download mode but I can't go to recovery mode.
Let me remind you that my USB data connection is not working.
So now I am looking for a solution that would permit me to flash without USB or allow me to go to recovery mode.
Or a tutorial on how to change the usb port myself.
Thanks in advance.

As long as you can get to download mode, flashing should solve your problem after you resolve the USB problem , which can be due a number of issues.
Somehow ROM changes and bad flashes, may have pin configuration changes on the phone, (just like changes in combo key functions when you use different ROM) ...so driver changes works for some
So you may have to try all these http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571 options to get your USB connection back. But first break that cycle by removing battery and reinsert after a few min and check phone connection , and try those options.

Sorry to repeat my comment again, but if all these drivers aren't working for you, you should check your micro-usb connector. I'm pretty sure the connector is the issue here.
Have you tried cleaning the micro-usb connector on your phone? Don't just blow the dust out or clean it a bit with some paper, but go for a complete and thorough cleaning solution.
Get yourself some dentaid toothbrushes. Get a few sizes. You can get these at your local pharmacy.

Get some Cleaning / Rubbing Alcohol. You can find this at a handyman store or your local pharmacy should have this as well.
Dip the toothbrush with some rubbing alcohol. The toothbrush should be a bit moist but not dripping wet.
Start cleaning the connector. You can apply some pressure to clean everything.
If this doesn't work, no harm done. These things are quite cheap and rubbing alcohol and these dentaid toothbrushes come in handy when other electronics go bust.
Honestly, just try it! People always dismiss this solution attempt as a last resort but it's usually the problem fixer.
I fixed mine that had the same problem with a similar technique

Establish best recowery mod fix and adb on your computer.
without root and probably will not even cwm mobile Odin.

[SOLVED] P880 soft bricked recovery, & no computer to flash... What to do?

I recently acquired an LG P880. It's a neat little phone that can even be flashed with KitKat.
I was looking to flash a Cyanogen nightly over it,which reportedly ran amazingly.
I tried to do this from the old TWRP that it came with. It was version 2.20 I believe.
I kept running into an error, which a quick Google search revealed was due to an old version of TWRP. Because I don't have a computer handy, I couldn't flash TWRP over via PC. So I opted to flash over PhilZ Recovery. (philz_touch_6.48.4-p880.zip)
I flashed this from the old TWRP. Soft bricking the phone.
The recovery is totally busted. Even though it said that it flashed successfully and suggested I reboot the phone.
When I go into PhilZ recovery when I click or touch something or select any action the screen only flashes for an instant and sometimes I get the error repeatedly: "Aroma file manager not found - clockworkmod/aroma/aroma.zip not found"
I can't select anything. The only thing I can do is reboot. Not a single option works at all.
So basically my recovery is bricked. I also have no operating system on the phone so I can't reflash recovery that way. I won't have a computer for 2 months either (I'm travelling the world) so is there ANYTHING I can do with just this phone and another phone to reflash the recovery of at least put an OS on the phone or something?
Does anyone have any ideas? I am currently in the process of uploading a video detailing the problem.

Check an app called flashify, you can flash recovery with it in ROM. So download whatever recovery you want for our phone and flash it in. I hope this will resolve you problems, ofc you have to be rooted
If your recovery is broken in the way you say it, there is nothing you can do without a PC.Just go to a cybercafe and restore to stock ROM using lg mobile support tool.Won't take any longer than 1 hour (with downloading etc. included)
Hi thanks for your suggestion but I think you missed the part where I don't have an operating system on the phone.
The phone has a broken/bricked recovery and no OS. So when I turn I on normally it just boot loops because it has nothing installed. So I don't have a way to do that either.
I was hoping for something like pushing an auto execute script to SD card that flashes the recovery the moment the SD card is mounted or something...
So I made some progress.
I can access a terminal emulator in PhilZ recovery and the Aroma File Manager. But I can't install a .zip from either of them And when I try and run 'su' I get permission denied (obviously not rooted). Same when I run 'adb'. Which is weird because I can make new folders and move files to the root folder '/' in aroma. I just can't do that via terminal emulator :/ =(I was thinking about installing a recovery.img via that, which was pushed to the /sdcard)
There's an' install' command available but I don't think that will help. It seems for some reason the recovery hasn't got the correct screen resolution for my phone. Everything is squished and I have to tap on blank parts of the screen where apparently the keyboard is, but in actuality it's showed far above squashed into the side of the screen...
So, so far all I have is a terminal emulator (with no root) and a file manager with root (supposedly).

You need pc for that, try fastboot method if that possible in your case.
Ok so if I can somehow get access to a computer. How do I go about doing this?
I want the latest cyanogen nightly on the P880. (I have 16/12 which is good enough). Also I obviously need a custom recovery. So if PhilZ doesn't work. Maybe TWRP?
What divers and etc do I have to worry about if I only have an hour? I'd rather download the files on my phone and just quickly use them when I get the chance on a PC.
Does anyone know the flashing process for LG? (I only have had Samsung phones in the past)
The bottom guide on this: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/240 states that the phone needs to be in 'Debugging Mode' but I don't have an OS on the phone to put it in debugging mode...
So I guess I need a computer too that I have access to cmd.exe
That's not going to be easy where I am... Most places (if I can even find one) will probably have that disabled to users.
Search for FASTBOOT method on forum or with google to flash recovery, i use cwm recovery and i suggest you to install cwm.
I will sent you pm where to download cwm recovery file for LGP880.
And than it will be easy to install os. First do that and we will see.
You need ADB drivers for pc, you need LGP880 driver from official website.
@leijonasisu
I'm gonna help you out only because you have limited access to PC.
Download LG mobile support tool http://lg-support-tool.en.lo4d.com/ install usb driver of 4x hd with phone not being plugged into PC
Click options > "restore from update error (best translation I Can come up with) and wait till it's done
Root your phone (I think I used this to root before http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230934 ONLY ROOT DONT DO ANYTHING ELSE)
I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481929 adam's twrp recovery even though I don't use multirom it's installation etc. is simple imo.
Download flashify from play store and flash the ".img" file (TWRP).
Wipe dalvik cache, cache, data, system and flash the CM nightly.
If you want to thank me for this post, do it by helping other people out.
Thanks for the replies. I've added thanks. Unfortunately the only access I can get to a computer currently is an iMac without Admin privileges. Any attempt to install anything or install 'adb' or reboot into 'fastboot' requires a password which I don't have.
Life seems to be laughing at me.
I got access to a computer and followed the LG Mobile Support Tool steps. But I keep getting this error:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

The phone is in S/W Upgrade mode. Connected via USB and I have tried multiple USB ports.
I installed the drivers from the LG support site for the P880. It finds the phone, but can't verify what it is. So I put the IMEI number (or mode and #SN) in and it goes to check Windows version and conflicting programs and then gives that error.
Is there some other way I can flash this thing with a new Firmware, or at least a new Recovery?
Also the phone seems to have that yellow triangle next to something called "APX" and when that APX is in Device Manager the screen is just black (Not S/W Mode)
Also if I try and turn the phone on normally (where the charging battery comes up) there's a device "Android" that pops up for a second with another yellow triangle in Device Manager.
So it seems that the Fastboot driver or something isn't installed?
Guys can you please help me out. I only have access to this computer for 3 days
I also haven't been able to find the device with 'adb devices' from CMD prompt. I don't think the ADB driver is installed or something and I can't find it to do 'adb reboot oem-unlock' :/
P.S. My Bootloader IS Unlocked.
Follow thsi tutorial,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723
Good Luck
Hi there, thanks so much for your reply.
When I try do follow that tutorial I get this error:
I've tried:
1. These drivers (and other kinds):
2. Different USB cables
3. Different USB ports.
4. Modem disabled, and then modem enabled in Device Manager
5. Rebooting
6. Laptop has latest updates, MSXL, NET Framework etc. etc. etc.
Nothing sees to be working. It cannot find my phone.. I guess it is a driver issue or something because when the phone is in S/W mode it simply cannot be detected by the flashing programs.
When I install those drivers. 3 devices pop up. They all install without any problems, but for some reason those programs still can't see this phone.
This is getting ridiculous. What am I missing here?
P.S. Before you ask, I have been googling around before asking here. Maybe these problems seem small and easily fixable to some of you but to be honest they are wasting my days away, nothing seems to be working and my girlfriend is getting furious at me.
I only have 2 days left with a computer until I am without one again for over a month...
I just saw on xda that someone had simillar problem to yours and the problem was in pc...
And another solution is
I was found this on net.
"Often you may require an update for the OS in your pc. Check windows update for a google fastboot update. I had the same issue and after installing the update it worked fine - I'm running win 7 ultimate. Also disable both LG modem drivers in your device manager so it will pick up the phone itself rather than see it as a modem accessory. "

Easiest would be to try on different computer, I have same problems on laptop, so I have to use family PC for thins like that. Just install drivers on it run kdz flashing and that is it
Thanks for both of your replies. I have one other computer I can try here for this last day, I will try that. It's a PC.
I'll install the latest drivers for the P880 from the LG support site, then disable any 'modem' stuff in Device Manager and try flashing the .kdz again.
I can't believe this has been so much trouble.. It is true that currently I am trying to do this on a laptop, perhaps a PC is what I need.
This laptop has Windows 8.1 and the PC has Windows 7. Perhaps that will make the difference I need.
Fingers, toes and everything else crossed and deep breaths.
Success finally!!!!!
SUCCESS!!!!
First I installed the latest drivers for the P880 like I said I would. (With phone unplugged)
I used an i7 Windows 7 Ultimate PC with latest updates.
Here are the devices that were installed:
And in Device Manager:
(I disabled the Modem one and then rebooted before flashing)
This flashing program did NOT work:
(note the .kdz file I used to flash for reference (it works))
So I tried this flashing program:
(note the options I selected etc. and EMERGENCY MODE)
WARNING!! IT WILL POP UP WITH AN ERROR SAYING #SERVER NOT FOUND# (this error window was hidden on the left side of the image/screen)
YOU MUST NOT CLICK 'OK' OR THE FLASHING WILL STOP. IT IS STILL ACTUALLY FLASHING IN THE BACKGROUND
Waaaaiitt...
When the process stops, the program crashes (as shown in above picture)
BUT SUCCESS!!! THE PHONE IS REBOOTED AND FLASHED TO STOCK!!
(my friend's camera sucks)
Now I just root with Towelroot or whatever.
Install flashify and then install CWM and then I flash over to Cyanogen 4.4 Nightly!
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!
Looks like I just needed a PC running Win 7.
P.S. Feel free to use this method in guides or whatever to fix your phone.
Thanks again <3
