anybody got any exp with it?
was thinking about getting one mainly for
having an easy access to music from the pc
in the livingroom for partys where i guess
the easyness of apple would be handy if you
had a bit of a drink
and maybe the odd yourTube click for fun
and a few video clicps not too many so i guess
the 40gb would be enough
apple TV sucks, especially the value of it. Its simply too expensive for its features. I rather buy a home media centre PC for the living room TV.
I quite like them
Dont expect to get every youtube clip on it though, they are currently somewhat limited.
Certainly when 'modified' they become great little boxes capable of playing XVID encoded videos.
A friend of mine (www.semthex.com) developed a kernel for it that allows Tiger 10.4 to run natively!
Well worth the money IMHO.
buy a used macmini add $20 adapter

[Q] [AT&T GTab 8.9 (SGH-I957), Honeycomb] HDMI Out non-functional?

So, I just tried plugging in Samsung's 30-pin to HDMI adapter into my mother's GTab 8.9 and connecting it to our TV, but nothing is being sent to the TV. The tablet makes noise when I plug it into the TV, but nothing happens other than that. I tried loading a video to see if it would only output when playing media, but that didn't work either.
Does the AT&T-branded 8.9 even do HDMI out?
Does it work system-wide, or only in a few special apps?
I want to know it too
Bump.
On a UK tab the HDMI output is system wide.
Yes, but this is the version of the 8.9 that AT&T has had their way with - it wouldn't be the first time that a carrier has removed a feature from a smartphone/tablet because of some ludicrous reason.
My ATT 8.9 does HDMI out, even tried it with multiple TV's. It doesn't work with any of the custom ROM's though.

Ah, just the good news I needed. Might I ask which cable you used and where you bought it from? (model number, etc.) I got mine from a Verizon store and it said it was compatible with the Galaxy Tab series. I assumed that since it used the 30-pin connector that the 8.9 does, it would work.
Im using this one...

Yea, I'm using the same cable (though, I bought mine from a Verizon store) - does yours say KCC-REM-SEC-EPL-3PHPBE on the back?

[Q] Wireless display over wifi and HTC One : miracast ?

Hi,
I'm looking for a device that would allow me to replicate the screen of my HTC one on my full HD TV.
I would like to to able to do the same thing with the same device but with my mac
I think my solution is called miracast.
Am i right ?
Which device is known to work perfectly with the HTC One ?
Any idea of how to make it work with my macbook pro and iPad ?
many thanks !
HD MediaLink
Are you talking about the HD Media Link? This little accessory mirrors the screen on the HTC One to your TV. But depending on what you're doing, your experience may vary. If you like to look at photos and basically anything still, then this will work. But any fast paced moving pixels, forget about it. The only game that I've tried that works well is angry birds, but even then it stutters. I don't know how you plan on using it, but I'd say it's not worth $90. ATT gave it away for free during their preorder promotion.
This device, to the best of my knowledge, does not work with any other device besides HTC devices with at least Sense 4.0. If you want your mac/iphone/ipod to work, you need to get an appletv. Hope this helps.

Hi,
No i'm not talking about the Media Link that seems to work only with HTC devices.
I'm talking about a miracast dongle/box that i'll be able to use with my htc one, my iPad, my S2, my macbook pro, etc
Anyone have try Netgear PTV3000 with HTC One?
According to Google, the HTC One supports Miracast, but for your Apple devices only Airplay will work. Try to find a device that supports both.

There is a device called Xiaomi Box by a chinese company which is the only known device which supports Miracast as well as Airplay. Although this device is very hard to get due to its high demand in china. Try your luck. Most other devices like Belkin screencast, netgear ptv 3000, etc only support miracast.

I tried a Samsung allshare cast dongle with the HTC One and it seems to work. The One sees it as a miracast device and connects OK. The screen updates just fine but there is a serious audio sync issue when playing videos. I need to do some more testing.

I can confirm this does work with the HTC One
Miracast should be universal solution for Android devices, it is still young technology and there is not much information or tests and reviews.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/02/21/feature_wtf_is_miracast/
Bit of a flop about this is that we can't use existing technology, wireless connection, TV, PC's or consoles for that, like with DLNA. Those are designated dongles that plug into TV or monitor. If you type "miracast" in eBay search you'll find some dongles, but IMHO they are still too expensive, on par with Android media players which are far more complex and versatile. There are some hints that it can be enabled in Windows 7/8.1 using Intel WiDi but that is hardware limited. Maybe not for long

AMD is pushing AMD Wireless Display or AWD...
ZK-W18 Mirasharer doesn't work
just received my ZK-W18 mirasharer from Ebay and so far I am having trouble connecting it to my HTC One.
Sorry duplicate post.
There is a video here about HTC One Miracast(NETGEAR PTV3000)

Just tried it with Sony Bravia W905 and it was no-go
One sees Bravia as Miracast compatible device, Bravia registers One and then after looong waiting nothing happens. And again, and again, reboot, restart, nothing. Oh well.

Yep, I tried configuring my One with Sony W655 and same story as above, both see each other, configured but then looong wait and nothing...
Maybe 4.2.2 will fix that?
I already am on 4.2.2. - ARHD 12. We even updated software on TV, didn't help.
Well, in that case it sucks...
It would be great to have this functionality out of the box...
Has anyone tried these HDMI DLNA devicse with our HTC ONE? I just want to play movies on the TV with this:

Get yourself the Samsung allshare dongle. It works flawlessly. Sad part it works better with my HTC one then with my samsung tablet

I have a Raspberry Pi connected to my TV, running XBMC (xbian).
I can simply use the "Select Player" option in the top right menu on my HTC when viewing pictures and select my XBMC device (xbian) I can then control the slideshow, shown on my TV pretty cool.
The videos I made with the HTC One are using 22mbit/s bitrate (ridiculously high) so that will never work via Wifi (unless you have a very expensive 11ac router).
But I could test it with other videos of course... will report back.
using the Yatse app, you will be able to stream anything to XBMC btw... but its a paid app. I think it uses DLNA tech.

Hi Globen, is this with videos taken on the HTC One or streaming videos? What's a youtube video like? I only ask because mine has a serious lipsync issue but works fine for photos and non-video screens.

The laptop will not have hdmi input.
I do not believe there is a way to stream a game to your laptop. Videos yes but not a game.

I stream anything from my phone to my HDTV with the MediaLink device which you can buy at Sprint store for about $80.00. So if your computer has a hdmi slot than you can and you purchase MediaLink. If your computer does not have a hdmi slot but some other type of video input you could maybe get a converter to convert hdmi to your video input type. I play all kinds of games like real racing, ski challange, xplane, etc. on my phone and stream to my tv.

Uh... Your computer has HDMI video OUT, not HDMI IN. What don't people understand about this? You cannot play an android game on your laptop screen using the One.
You can hook your one up to a TV yes, but you can't hook it up to a computer...

Alright, guess I've got my foot in my mouth. Things have changed in the last couple of years, hdmi capture cards exist. They'd be laggy as all hell, but you could hook up your phone to a laptop. My mistake.

[Q] Samsung 8.9 ROM / HDMI query

Hi folks, I have a fairly elderly Samsung 8.9 tablet which I rooted straight away (I bought it new a couple of years ago) but since getting the Nexus range, this tab has been relegated to the kids. I think its a nice tablet still and its perfect for kids to play games on BUT I spotted the HDMI adapter for it recently and decided to get it. Its the correct one but all I get when I plug it into the TV is the screen cast - which is OK of course, but its a strip in the middle of the screen - no matter what I try, I cannot get the cast picture to take up the whole screen. Tried an app called 'Screen Resolution' which is nice, but it seems to crash the tablet when it plugs in.
Tablet is running TWRP recovery (latest), OmniROM-Mackay_ROM -4.4.2 ROM - which I suspect may be the issue?
Does anyone who has the Tab 8.9 have any experience or advice in the HDMI out? I would dearly love to be able to hook the tab up to the TV when travelling etc for the kids.
Any help/advice gratefully received.
Regards
I don't have the tab 8.9 but I have used several tabs and Samsung phone adapters to HDMI. My advice is looking into changing the zoom on the tv. Only way I was able to solve the problem.
Tho its worth noting that when you rotate the screen the HDMI output changes as well. So maybe orient in landscape than connect?

I did have a play about with the TV settings but its a strip in the middle of the screen, about a third of the width. It would take a MAJOR zoom to get it anywhere near the whole screen. I can't help but think there may be an easier way?
