In the Gear Manager app on the phone, under Settings, second option from the bottom is "Unknown sources". Underneath it says, "Allows apps to be installed from sources other than Samsung apps." So, after I check that box, allowing non-Samsung apps to be installed, how do I put non-Samsung apps on the watch? It seems like I should be able to do it without rooting it.
download wondershare mobile go and side load any app you like on to watch without root, there's a thread on it somewhere
Press thx if i help you

I downloaded it, but how do I search for an app by name? It has a link to the Google Play store, so I can browse through there, but just browsing through categories. WonderShare MobileGo for Android on my computer cuts off Google Play store below the search bar.

I have recently noticed that "Google Music" is always running when I check Active Application via Task manager.
Even if I End it manually it gets on again automatically even when I have not used this particular app.
I am on official latest JB and I have done things like restart phone and manually stopping it from application, but all in vain.
Plz Help
Disable autostart via apps like AutoStart Manager, available on Google Play.

Cmon u mean everybody have same problem and they all install sum app frm store to circumvent it - Not possible.
There has to to be sum normal fix within phone - Maybe sum more ppl can chime in
Its a google app like play store and maps. It will always run in the background. There is a way, root your phone, delete the apk from system app so that it becomes a normal app and use greenify to hibernate the app. So far tested on maps, google music, google search and google plus. Apps were hibernated when not using and able to launch like a normal app.
Tried on play store and play services. End up in a laggy phone and hangs till i did a restore. So stay out of these 2 app.

Have a Galaxy Gear, non-root.. default launcher
sideloaded 2 different calculator apps and they both disappear shortly (for sure after a watch reboot, but it might in fact disappear even earlier)
i saw some post telling to backup and restore after.. is there any easier way to make sure all sideload app stays there?
Notice that Gear Manager -> Application does not show any sideload app.. is that the reason?
thanks
Your sideloaded non-gear certified apps will disappear once you open Gear Manager. Gear manager does not support non-Gear certified apps.
If you need Gear Manager to adjust some settings, then Just set whatever you need in Gear Manager, back out. Then restart your Gear.
All your sideloaded apps will remain in the launcher as long as you don't open Gear Manager.
This needs to be a sticky, too many people ask the same question in a day.
Why don't people use search these days?
Unbelieveable bug! Open gear manager and the non approved apps disappear! Wtf!

Thanks.. sorry.. I did search but didn't find the answer .. thanks for telling me the "feature" of Gear manager.. I hope someone can come out with a permanent solution.. honest.. Gear really don't have enough app.. and missed some key app (like calculator)...I wouldn't want to sideload if they have the "basic" one on their store.
thanks
Hi,
I decided to clean up My Apps on the Play Store by going into the Play Store App, selecting My Apps and then hitting the "X" to drop those I no longer require.
That all worked fine but on my Galaxt Tab 8.9 there is one application called "eBook Application" from "Samsung Electronics Inc" which has me puzzled.
I have no recollection of ever installing this app and now it seems there is no way to get rid of it.
It appears only on the Play Store list, I can not find it anywhere on the device.
The attached screen shots should explain the problem.
When I select from the list I get the second screen saying that my device is not compatible with this version.
It's not a train smash, but it is annoying.
ANy advice or info will be gratefully welcomed.

Hmmm have you tried checking your Applications list?
Settings > Applications > All > look for "eBook Application" or possibly "Samsung eBooks" etc. > tap it and then select Disable (that is, if it'll let you uninstall it, Samsung can be crappy like that )
Hello,
I think this app is part of the Samsung apps installed by default on your tab.
Samsung has a "Samsung app Store", and a manager app on the tab for this store.
The eBook app you're talking about is certainly part of that samsung store. I don't know if you can remove it, maybe you can only uninstall updates that have been automatically installed.
Try by using the Samsung app Store, if there is one on you tab.
Hope that helps
If you're on stock rom, you probably can't install it, as it is part of the factory preloaded apps. Still, you can disable them in Settings -> Apps or uninstall updates. Hope this helps.
Can anyone give me a list of bloatware that I can remove/disable? please note I will not root my tablet
Anything that you can remove without root, is safe to remove. It's up to you to decide whether you need or want an app. What extra stuff is preloaded depends on your region.
You can not remove any bloadware without rooting your device. I mostly remove high data usage apps like Samsung link, google MUSIC, book.. . And other google apps which im not use them and Microsoft Excel, word etc. You can check and remove apps with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easyapps.txtoolbox

Not exactly true. For example, it is possible to disable "Galaxy Apps" without root by simply going to application manager and clicking "Disable" button. However, doing so will cause anything installed through "Galaxy Apps" marketplace to fail to update. Like Microsoft Office apps, for one example. The app itself will say "New version available", but clicking on "Get It" button will just silently fail.

I was talking about removing, not just disabling. The bloatware, like e.g. the pizza and hotel apps included in the German firmware, can be removed like normal apps via the app drawer. I would indeed think that disabling system apps like "Galaxy Apps" is riskier.
The situation with the pre-installed Office apps is a bit weird: you can't update them via the Google Play, even though Google Play indicates that an update is available. Somehow Google thinks that these apps are incompatible with our device and refuses to install or update them. Even though they are pre-installed and our device clearly is compatible. This happens even if you haven't disabled "Galaxy Apps". But you do indeed need "Galaxy Apps" if you do want to update them, since that store does see our device as compatible. Though in my experience, updates arrive in "Galaxy Apps" much later.

No. Google Play has marked the Office applications as incompatible with our device, so I suspect you can't reinstall it from Google Play.
Is there a link to a description of these apps/packages anywhere? I'd like to take a look at one before I disable my stuff... Or do I need to google them one by one? I downloaded a package info tool but as for descriptions, it just has a button that says "Google It" and it just shoves the query into my search app...which isn't exactly what I expected when downloading the app.

I hear you Klear, all us simple users need is a list of things which are safe to disable on a stock tablet running Android 7. I've disabled the following and things seem to be OK:-
-Dictionary
-Drive
-Excel
-Google Play & Movies
-Hangouts
-Memo
-OneDrive
-OneNote
-Photos
-Powerpoint
-SideSync
-Word
I suspect there are many more?
Everything Samsung related, I'd say.
I can send you my list if you wish.

I don't think that's completely true. I regularly receive updates via play store at least on the beta channel
Hello good people, i have note 4 n190c version and i tried vr and oculus app goes in infinitive loading or sometimes it crash. i tried 2 different stock roms and it is the same... i tried everyhing... facebook services are enabled i checked...
is there way to make it work? even offline? if someone have working gear vr it is posible to copy data and make some kind offline version?
The oculus app on the latest and last Gear vr for the Note 9 has issues you just described as well. I'm running stock firmware as well.
I found out i can only run samsung gallery app offline... i tried other apps to side load like i found apks online but it fails to start black screen usually, it need some signature i think and "Injector for GearVR" app on google play does not working, it fails on every apk to give signature...
I found i way to sideload all apks first you can use "SideloadVR" app google apk and download it, you have a lot of apps to try there, but first you need to make "OSIG" file specific for your device on oculus site you must login with any account (even give number for developer) and go to OSIG generator link google it and there with your ID (you can find in sideloadVR app your id) you then generate OSIG file and download it (be sure it is on phone download folder because sideloadVR only detects osig in that folder) and then you can easily use almost any app that is listed in sideloadVR... for specific app you want to use you can make almost any apk on computer ready for your device with "Add OSIG" google it have tutorial too i managed to make "samsung internet" apk signed with my osig file and app its working in phone normally and i can browse and watch youtube in vr now ...
One more thing... to prevent oculus "update avaiable first screen" when you connect your device to gear vr... use some app disabler i use "FreezeYou!" to disable "Gear VR System" service and no more first screen update... you just need to manually now launch vr app you want and then connect it to gear...
