Battery issue, anyone? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I got the charging dock for my Z1, the first night perfect, woke up and everything completely charged.
Today (2nd night) unhooked 5 minutes 97%, 15 minutes down to 81%. It was going down by the minute.
Tried to recharge, it just would´t. Removed sim card for a couple of minutes.
3 hours later 71%(normal discharge) 10% in 3 hours. Actualy a little better, I get 15 hours a day per charge, about 6% every hour, from 7 am to 10 pm, not bad, except for this.
Haven´t decided if recharge, or just wait for battery to drain and completely recharge again.
Has anybody had this happened?? Any comments, greatly appreciated.

Are you using the provided sony charger? Also is your dock a genuine sony branded dock? These things could possibly affect the quality of charge you are getting.

Yes I just got the original dk31 for the Xperia Z1, that's what's bothering me, because it's all original.
Any ideas?? Thanks.

Mine drained to around 50% in standby yesterday over about an hour. Took it off charge around 7am, first time I looked at it, it was around 8ish and had dropped to nearly 50%. Put it in the genuine Sony dock and it was draining faster than it could put charge in to it. Put it in to airplane mode and plugged the micro USB in and it charged up.
Went to sleep last night with it in the dock at 19%. Woke up this morning to an error saying the charger doesn't have enough power or something (I was still half asleep) and it was still on 19%. Plugged the USB in and left it for about half an hour. Still the same 19% so turned it off and left it to charge. 3 hours later and it was at about 85%.
I know it's a big battery and takes a while to charge but if the charger can't keep up while the phone is still on, then there's a problem. It hasn't discharged as quick today but it might be a dock issue as it's been charged with the micro USB. I'll give it another go tonight/tomorrow and if there's still a problem I'll contact Sony.

As I said - awesome battery life with new 257 firmware

And believe me - my phone is constantly in my hands...
I'm on hangouts, XDA, web all the time.
I don't talk to much, maybe 10-15 min per day but I send lots of SMS and emails...
I just love Z1 - best device I ever had  for Sony this time.

Something is using cpu cycles or a rogue app of some sort. That would be my guess. If you don't know what it use a wake lock detector, on my nexus 7, google currents sync was killing me. If not any of those maybe a defective battery or something. I use mine all day and get an average of 4 - 5 hrs screen on time. I'm up at 6 and in bed by 11-12. Usually have 20-30% remaining and I'm a pretty heavy user with NFC and all sync on.

I installed the dock clock app, and let it run all night, I believe that to be the problem. Because I didn't use it last night, and I'm at 30% 16 hours since last charge.
I use it a lot, emails, Web, Facebook and Twitter, a lot of whatsapp, bout 1 hour on the phone.
So just deleted the app, and will put the alarm clock back on the night stand.
Thanks for the comments.

what are you showing us, that after five hours you plug in??
Dee Ex Two - See Em Seven
Haha. Yea, he's showing that his battery meter is not accurate. Lol.
I lasted 3 days and 9 hours with my $10 extended battery. It was at 1% for a good 36 hours of it.
On my standard battery after 16 hours of "normal to light" use, I'm usually around 60%. As long as I don't have to charge it during the day, I'm happy. Plug it in every night when you go to bed and unplug it in the morning, you will last all day.
lmao wasn't the planning on that ill give a more accuarate battery in a few hours i actually went from full at 12 pm to about 5 brinking me to 10 percent in 5 hours

Other than the incorrect meter LucasMN, how much better is the extended battery in terms of single full charge. I am debating on getting an extended battery because I use my droid heavily throughout the day for work. I charge with the same habits as you. With my current standard battery I get to about 50% by 2pm (my day starts at 8:30a)

I cannot compare it to the standard battery as I've never let the standard get lower than 30%.
3 days and 9 hours on the extended battery included 2 full work days. I work in IT and will quickly check e-mails throughout the day on my phone. Out of the office I use it quite a bit for facebook and streaming music. 95% of use was over Wifi though.
I bought the battery + cover off ebay for $10. It's about 3x as thick as the original battery.
So I was a bit concerned about battery now seems to be pretty good strange how some days I get 5 hours to 20 percent now going on 7 at only 50 percent

Can't post screen shot since phone is stuck at motor screen atm, but...with a dim screen, cal'd battery and debloated rom , I can burn through a full charge OEM extended battery in half an hour or less. I use a ton of SMS...
a half hour for a extended battery are you freaking kidding me and i thought this was bad i sms a lot too facebook and xda mostly through the day that is just crazy i am still at 50 percent and now at 7 in a half hours looks like i might make it to almost 12 on this one
when I get to a PC and unfutz my bionic ill screen shot it for you. To be honest I have always been a battery abuser though. BB curve to storm to og Droid to d2 and now bionic...all had to have extended batteries.

I would love to see this. With my extended battery, I stayed at 1% for over a day though. Unless yours is powering off, I bet that would be the case. 30 min for an extended battery, even an OEM standard battery sounds like BS to be honest, unless it is physically damaged.
I don't know what happened to mess up everyone's battery life, but when I flashed the 904 update mine all went away!

How has your battery life been?

I must say, this little thing is impressive... I've been hammering this thing all day! I expected 6-7 realistic hours.

I charged it once since purchase yesterday.. took about an hour and thirty.
mine has been crazy about 10 hours of nonstop usage as well I can barely put the thing down. Current charge is a bit lower cause I have been playing GTA 3 all day
I decided to use it right out of the box with 40% and it lasted 20 hours with moderate use I'd say. Played a couple games and streamed some music and a few emails. It's all charged up now, so I'll see how the battery is now!

Great battery life so far and yea it seems to take forever to charge up, then than apps syncing etc I left it alone for a while and it'd only charged like 30℅
Mine has been great as well. Been playing games and watching videos and browsing. I guess the real life tests they did were accurate when they rated it at 9 hours.

Make sure you're using the Asus charger that came with your N7 to charge it.
The Asus wall charger puts out 5v 2A - most other chargers are only outputting .5A
My first charge took forever using an old Moto charger I use for other devices.. once I plugged in the Asus it's down to less than 3 hours for a full charge.
so that means from zero (0%) to 100% fully charged how many hours of charging with the original charger?

Battery Life is Far Better than expected
My battery life has been exceptional, which surprised me. I saw a youtube video where the guy from Cnet said he was concerned about how fast the battery drained. I don't know if he had a defective unit, but I've been pushing it pretty hard. Downloading apps, watching youtube videos, checking emails constantly and browsing the internet.
I've even used super video and overskreen to browse and watch a video at the same time. Still it last at least 8-9 hours. When on a long car ride, about 6 hours of constant use... Got home and it was at just under 30% battery left. This N7 is a BEAST!
Great battery life here as well. Just watched 4 straight hours of movies streamed from my HTPC using Air Video Server and Mirage player while out of town. Flawless.

Battery life seems pretty good to me, pulled off the charger and used alot yesterday, mostly web browsing with screen set to it's lowest setting cause I was inside all day, timeout set at 5mins. I was connected to a weak wifi signal all day with gps on and bluetooth off.
can you imagine what the battery life will be when we get some cooked up roms with some tweaks in this beast!
im happy with the battery life as well as the charge time
Battery life has been great, 8-10 hours, no complaints besides that it charges very slowly.

I enjoy being able to put the tablet down and picking up the next day without it having been on the charger and see it only went down from 92% to 82%..
Last tablet I had, even turned off, it wouldn't have enough power to turn on the next day.
I am at 77% with 1d 6h 9m 5s..
I could play hard all day, set it down late at night. Wake up in the morning and hop on. It has great battery life. About as good as my iP*d

[Q] Is my battery life normal?

Hi,
I've had a Nexus 6 for some days now, and its battery life doesn't seem too good. I'm used to leave my phone overnight and wake up to it having over 90% battery left, but with the N6 it usually has a little over 80. Today it had 83%, and after browsing the web for some minutes (maybe 10 or 15) it's down to 75%... That's almost 1% a minute, which seems a lot to me.
If I take a look at the battery screen, I see this:

If I'm not mistaken, something seems to have kept the phone awake during the night. Is that right? I'm using M preview 2, could that be causing the problem? Is the phone defective? What could be wrong here?
Thanks in advance for your help.
PS. Battery life is at 71%... That's 4% down since I wrote that part above. This thing drains so fast it's scary.
It could be anything from the ROM itself to a Rouge app. I would flash back to bone stock and see what you get over a few days with a couple charge cycles. And then compare with another ROM.

Yes the andoird m preview 2 is not showing battery stats correctly. You will probably notice that once your phone goes down to 1% it could stay there for an hour or so. Just be sure to run the phone to complete 0%. Then charge to 100% and leave for about an hour after that. That should recalibrate it after a few cycles. It is a widespread "issue" with the m preview 2.

why dont you keep it on the charger overnight, that way itll be at 100% for you??? it does not hurt the phone, at all.

+1 to this. I use a lower voltage charger, not the turbo charger, and charge my N6 while I sleep. I have since day one with this beast. I've had it since November 20.

i use the turbo charger. but it doesnt matter. if you watch the voltage going in, it get drastically reduced above 92%, and again at like 97%. and when the device actually stops charging, its at 0% voltage going in. btw, most times it does not stop charging at 100%. that happens anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes after hitting 100%. thats because our battery % is slightly off.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the LG V20's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Compared to the Note 7 there is next to zero residual battery drain. I forgot to plug it in one night and saw a 2% drop.
Doesnt really drain on sleep mode. Not bad.

This is great to hear. My V10 can drop 30% overnight. I can't wait to upgrade.
I'm losing upwards of 15% at night. Not good.
This has been one of my BEST PERFORMED sleep time phone so far! Must be something w NOUGAT also? Love it!
I noticed sometime when we insert a new sd card the phone needs to create an internal list and this process can suck alot of battery. It might or might not be this issue thats causing some users to experience overnight battery loss.
I got my V20 yesterday and had it sit overnight, and the drain was practically zero. Very impressed so far.
Standby drain is beyond great. If the phone is off, then 0 to 1% is lost, depending on the stand by time.
Sent from my VS995 using Tapatalk
The standby drain is unbelievable. I've noticed between 1-2% drain per hour. That's with bluetooth, wifi, and location on, as well as android wear and google fit constantly running in the background.
It's WAY better than my GS7 Edge.

So over an 8hr night you would lose 16%? That's not gifs at all.
I just got the phone last night. First of all... damn this is a sexy beautiful phone. Sleek slim as hell and the best phone I've owned thus far.
What is not okay is the battery drain in standby. I put it on the nightstand at 100% at 11:30pm, woke up at 6:30pm (7hours total) and it was down to 40%!!!!
Not okay LG. I moved over from the LG G5 and the standby on that was excellent, would still be in the 90%s , I hope an update is issued to fix this problem
Over 6 hours of stand by time with 0% lost. I have 4 email accounts running, a few game notifications, etc... No facebook.
This was taken after I cleared most of my notifications.

I too have noticed that this phone has significantly less standby drain than the S7 i was using between the Note7 return and the V20. All in all just better with the battery in my opinion. I usually listen to Pandora all day long at work (wired) and then use my BT headphones at the gym for a couple hours each night too. With the S7 I had to recharge the phone near the end of the work day or i would be cutting it close by the end of my workout. Not the case at all with the V20, after my workout im around 45% still. I do have 2 email accounts / FB / bunch of other stuff running at all times too pretty much. Get a lot of calls / texts throughout the day of course too. So far it has been amazing
I Have the V20 for 2 days and last nite lost about 30%, will check today what was running... not good but could be the battery ....

7 hours I slept last night with v20 unplugged after fully charging. Burned 1%.
Your issue seems to either be low signal strength or apps waking the phone.

Intentionally trickle charge?

It seems that I can't get Battery Care to trigger consistently at night even though I always go to bed somewhere between 11-1 and get up at 7 on weekdays or 9ish on weekends.
I realized though that I happen to have a pretty slow 500 mA USB port charger from back in the day. If I go to bed with the phone at 20% it would take over 4 hours to charge, meaning the phone spends less than half the night at 100%. Maybe this is the next best thing?

How fast does it charge? I have not seen any evidence of anyone being able to charge the X Compact any faster than about 1%/minute which is not super speed by any measure.
@cmstlist I'll try to check it out next time I charge. Feels pretty fast, but then again my previous phone was Z1c...
I usually get battery care where night time is the the first major charge of the day (sadly that's not always the case since I'm getting pretty disappointing battery life my Xc came with stock 7.0...).
I'm using the UCH-12 (supplied), have similar hours to you. When it turns on it reports a plan to be @100% 2hr~ before I wake up.
I was actually wondering is this feature any good (theoretically at least) or just voodoo?
Mine came with UCH 20 rather than 12. So far I'm never needing to charge it all day if I started at 100. Sometimes it's above 60 by bedtime so I don't start to charge it until morning.

For what it's worth, here's a graph of how the UCH 20 charges it with Battery Care. Normal speed until 90%, flat until almost wake time, then up to 100.

32% -> 88% in 64min 1%/1.14min WITH screen-OFF usage (Music stream w/ WIFI+BT headset + WhatsApp web).
It started faster @ 1%/0.9min then I guess I used it more/slowed down on its own.
NO battery care triggered.
That's pretty good for me, being able to use the phone and still charge fast.
Yeah so it seems like the fastest it'll charge under any circumstances is slightly above 1%/min.
Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
So the battery care only works with certain Sony chargers?
Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
For what it's worth, Battery Care will trigger with any kind of charger, even a slow trickle. So even if in only charging at 1%/3mins, it'll still plateau at 90% for a while.
