No love for Verizon... - Nexus 5 General

Just called Google Support 1-855-836-3987 and got confirmation from a representative that the Nexus 5 is NOT compatible with Verizon's network. Goddammit...

Unlimited Everything is worth $70 on TMO.

I bought two nexus 5's...i guess ill just sell em when they come in...crap verizon!!!!

It rather blows my mind that every other carrier supports it other than Verizon, I think it says a lot about them and their policies, becoming more and more locked down (think Knox for S4 and others). It makes me think a lot about George Orwells Nineteen Eighty-Four....

Wish I could but I travel for an living. That means I'll be constantly be going places that has terrible coverage all the time in the TMobile network. Those places are usually where I need 4G the most.

Barely, It does support Band 4 LTE and CDMA. VZW operates mostly on Band 13 LTE and just lit up Band 4.
The modem itself should support all bands because the baseband is the same in the Note 3, LG G2 etc. It should support Cat 4 LTE but the spec list does not necessarily list that.

Yep.
I have four phones, all with insurance, unlimited data, unlimited text and sharing 1400 minutes.
Bill after all taxes and fees is $215. :good:
As long as my bill is this cheap with Verizon how can I leave????
I'm held hostage by Verizon.....

I have the Moto X on Verizon and I bought a Nexus 5. I'll try TMO and AT&T both on the month to month option to see which I get better service with. If it's comparable to Verizon at all I'll port my number over

Someone test it on Verizon. I was going to order one to test as in theory it should work. Thank you

Angry at HTC for not allowing me to own a One 64gb

I have been debating whether to go for the S4 or the One. Quite honestly I am leaning towards the ONE. I love the oNE design. I can live without removable SD card so long as I can have 64gb of storage but I am reading that TMOBILE will NOT carry the 64gb version of the ONE.
Now I could buy the HTC ONE from ATnT and unlock it but it lacks tmobile 4g (1700mhz) feature which only leaves me with LTE which isn't widely available here in San Diego yet. So I will be stuck with EDGE.
So I thought maybe I go with a ONE Developers Editions, which does have 64gb of storage but I read that it lacks proper TMOBILE 4g support (1700mhz) like the ATnT version.
So my only other option here is to get a S4 which does give me full features with TMOBILE? I feel cheated. ;/
Can someone correct me if I am wrong on what I stated above...
You would be better directing your anger at T-mobile, as it will be them who choose what models they stock and what frequency they use for their base stations. It does seem crazy that the US has so many different frequencies for 4G/LTE. Why can't they use the same as as the EU and Asia? 3 models of the One for the US is absurd.
Don't quote me on this, be I am pretty sure the "tmobile" radios will be able to be flashed to the dev version thus opening the 1700 hsdpa band.
I am inclined to think the all the one "models" have the same hardware. The qualcomm chip in this phone supports 30+ bands

No I am not glad. Not being able to get the version I want is like not having the device on my carrier at ALL! 32gb? That just stupid. I have a 32gb SD on my Amaze and the thing is almost full. I am not about to pay full price for a device that I know I will run out of space. I really am genuinely pist off about this.
As far as flashing the correct radio for the Dev Edition, that is a HUGE maybe. It has yet to be confirmed. And I will be at the mercy of the Dev, meaning it could take time before a flash is available. I won't have 4g for some time. So spend 650$ and maybe i will have the ability to flash radio or just simply get the S4.
Just seems dumb guys. ;/
How much intern memory the S4 will offer in your country? Here in Germany we got only 16 GB at the beginning, that's just useless, of you got many games and apps.

US Cellular is CDMA. And if you're lucky enough to have them around the network is second to none. But I do see your point. My problem is that my area (Wisconsin) is dominated by CDMA. The networks for T-Mo and ATT are not good around here.

Anyone tempted? I love my one and the only upgrade you get is more megapixels and a fastest CPU but not by much? Stock android I guess by recent cm builds have been rock solid for me. My crazy day getting a nexus 5!

OK I know that ALL the nexus 5 sold at T-Mobile, Sprint, best buy, etc are the SAME as Google play store.
I was in Houston to visit family yesterday, and sold my moto g, and moto x(att model) to my family friend and then figured "ya I could order the nexus on Google but since selling the moto's I would just be paying the tax for the 5!"
So I go to best buy, not in stock, then go to T-Mobile store....NEVER again!(only because their like 390 full price!)
First the guy said he couldn't sell me it cause it won't work on anything other than T-Mobile....... So I told him that I know it will work or I wouldn't be asking you to buy it.... Then the store demo I put my Sim in it and BAM! Getting LTE on straight talk att Sim! Then I show him and then he said the demo model works cause it one straight from the Google play store! LMAO WHAT!
So I leave go down the street to another T-Mobile store same story!
Then I finally went to a sprint store...
The guy was basically acting like I was stupid and he bet me it wouldn't work....so he sell me the phone (399) I put my Sim in the phone and by this time he called everybody else in the store to see if it was going to work! The of course it works, and he was like we'll it probably because it not activated on our network. Then he went on saying I couldn't sell that to anybody on sprint cause the phone will be blacklisted.......OR I said "it could be idk IT'S THE SAME PHONE THAT GOOGLE SELLS ON THE PLAY STORE!" and walk out
So I guess next time people just order from the play store unless your only going to pay tax for a brand new phone lol!

What? Out of all service companies, I can't believe T-Mobile would say that! That's crazy.
They probably don't want to sell their N5' s cause they know they're sold out on Google store and they want customers who buy the N5 to stay in their company. That's why whenever I go to my company (T-Mobile) I end up arguing with them, they seem to not have a lot of knowledge when it comes to Google phones.

Well the sprint store wasn't really busy at all. Had one customer leaving as I was walking in. But the T-Mobile store was actually quite busy which I was surprised bout. Tmobile works great in Houston and Dallas. But where I live their not even a store that's how bad it is!

If you think a Sprint store can enter a MEID into the system that was never there before then I believe you need to go buy a bunch of lottery tickets.

Bounty Thread in Verizon forum tallying ATT exploit

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52145867
Come on guys go over there and kick in some money. I'm returning mine tomorrow and I'm still kicking in 50.
I pledged $35, although I may raise that after some thought.
Come on guys! If you are at all interested in pitching in for a bounty to find an exploit for rooting our S5, head on over and pledge any amount!
I pledged $50 but in two weeks im going to up mine to $100
Is there a reason why anyone can't just get the T-Mobile S5 and unlock it for use on AT&T?

Perhaps some people don't feel like paying $700 upfront, plus other charges to sim unlock.
I don't understand the logic of offering a bounty in a forum for a different phone. Yes, Verizon has locked their bootloader as AT&T has, but there is no reason to believe that one hack would work for the other.

Since both bootloaders are locked and root will depend on a kitkat exploit there is a better chance that it would work for both than you think.

I think it would depend on the exploit. If the exploit has to do with the hacking the key used to encrypt the bootloader, the assumption that it would work in both versions would rely on another assumption that they are both signed with the same key. Either way, it may prove to be difficult, it it may take so long that nobody will really care anymore because most people will have moved on to a different phone.
I bought mine after owning an S4 Active. A root exploit exists (for now), but the bootloader is still locked after almost a year. Flashing a ROM on that phone involves using Safestrap, which is tedious. I hope you're right, and I hope that someone finds an exploit. I miss being able to simply flash a new ROM using CWM or TWRP.

Exactly. Plus, that thread has expanded to the AT&T version as well.

The MetroPCS version is $649 at best buy and works as well.

I think I'll just keep using the AT&T phone that I already own and hope that root is achieved. Thanks anyway.

It'll be achieved, it's just a matter of time.

That's my thoughts. I've been waiting on the s4 active (unlock bootloader) for a yr almost. Lol.
Now it's time for a upgrade , I'm not sold on the s5 yet there are a couple phones out there I might consider.. What phones are not locked anymore with AT&T.?

Maybe not the bootloader unlock but at least a root method.
The thing is with the active, many factors are the reason why the bootloader was not unlocked.
1. It was a side version of the popular S4, not too many ppl got that phone since they already had the S4.
2. It was only available on AT&T and wasn't a major release
3. There wasn't a huge bounty like there is for the S5

Upwards of $700 for the phone + whatever charges you incur to SIM unlock. A lot of people don't feel like dishing out that much money upfront...and rightfully so.

Which I'm sure is a rare case. Either way, it's still too much. I paid $52 for my AT&T S5 and will gladly wait for the inevitable root, instead of forking over $600-700 upfront.

You paid $52 because its on contract. Off contract prices are between $550 -700 right now depending on condition, accessories etc... Those are regular prices. Is it a lot of money? Yes. But its the regular price.

I know that. Obviously. As I said, it's still not worth it for me. I'll gladly pay that $52 and wait for the root than to have to fork over $600-700.
