My moto x worked with no issues before today. I am currently at home, using my phone and it turns drive mode every 5 minutes with no reason. At the same time, night mode turns on. Tried to reboot moto x but it did not help. What would you recommend? Time to buy Nexus 5 ?

time to disable moto assist and all things moto assist related. just text and drive like normal people. jk. but i bailed on moto assist a year ago because things like that are never full proof. I can't risk my phone not going to vibrate when I enter work or school if the app messes up. I can deal with driving mode randomly appearing for no reason. I just do my stuff manually if its that important. Plus i don't like reporting location stuff to apps constantly for battery drain and the man.
I'd try clearing the cache and/or data

I thought this was the only phase it would follow, if I say okay only, it opens the search...or just okay google. Maybe google now? it is becoming a problem as my phone was on this morning on something searched I had not as it was on charger all night. Was randomly popping up seaches yesterday too. Anyone have this issue and know a way of resolving it? Makes me afraid for USC to get the 4.4 update...Thanks in advance.

Ever since camera update and gnow update to take OK Google from search results my motox has been super sensitive. It will go off from nearly anything. 4.4 root.

Ever since I took the I 4.4 ota from Verizon. The touchless control has also been crazy sensitive too. It goes off all the time and I don't know until she says 'the command canceled'. Not sure it a factory reset would fix it but haven't been willing to try that yet. Any ideas what else might fix it from being more sensitive?
Not sure what to do but its terrible for me too on 4.4. I'm going to have to turn it off. Keeps going off all the time.

I've been having the same problem, phone will be in my pocket or on my desk and I will randomly hear "command canceled"
Its very annoying and happens several times a day, and nothing even close to "OK Google" is being said.
Seems to be a fairly common problem so hopefully a fix is in the works

Try retaining the okay Google now command. It's important to do it in a quiet room and hold your phone at arms length.

I have read other posts here claiming that saying the training phrase more slowly helped with it accidentally turning on.
(I've had no problems myself, still on 4.2.2 with the camera update)

I've had it turn on watching a trailer for a movie. Restarted the trailer and it popped up again in same spot.

I've only had one "accidental" fire...
That's in quotes for a reason... My son and I were cooking on thanksgiving... My phone was in my pocket... His nexus 7 was displaying the recipe on the counter...
When the pie went in the oven...
"OK Google, set alarm for 30 minutes"
Nexus acknowledged the command and I told my son to come get me when the Alarm went off.
Obviously, he didn't need to... My phone's alarm also went off.

That's the odd thing, mine worked perfectly on 4.2.2 as well but ever since the upgrade to 4.4 it goes off randomly.
Of course I've tried retraining the phrase several times but it seems to make no difference.

Yeah that is what's strange cuz I'm on 4.2.2 obviously since US Cellular hasn't got 4.4 yet. Even completely stock besides unlocked boot loader. Have used FXZ's in past week or two in order to lose root. Wondering if I should try a data and cache wipe. Not sure but today was actually pretty good without random searches.

My phone has not always been this way. Its started in the past week. The battery seems to dive at the end of the day when I quit using it.

Something... Looks like "phone" in your screen shot, is keeping your phone awake for a crazy amount of time. Solve that and you're good again. Google it.

it's the NSA!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure the cause or a permanent solution. But if you see the battery dropping fast... Whether it's from "phone" or anything else.... A reboot should clear it up and you won't lose so much battery life.
That is, if you notice it dropping too fast. Sometimes you might not catch it till it's too late and you're running for a charger. Lol

It's pretty obvious some app is keeping your phone awake once you have solid mobile network signal. Time for you to find out what it is.
I have Gravity box installed. That's it. last night I charged it all the way up before I went to bed. I woke up with a 50℅ loss! This time it was the media server. Whatever that is......if I look on the wakelock detector there are 1000 little things but nothing stands out. Tonight I'll do the same thing but do a reboot before I lay it to rest.
What's weird is I only get this problem when the phone is not being used. If its of any relevance I leave the WiFi on all night. And have it set to turn off when the phone sleeps.

you should know the drill. start getting rid of apps to see if it improves. or, go reverse and start over, installing one app at a time. other posters above are right. you've got something else polling, that's causing the wake lock.

Seems like you could also just have some faulty hardware? e.g. a bad battery or charge sensor?

This is something fairly new. Unless it went belly up.....I still have more testing to do, which can take a while......since it only seems to be happening when I don't use my phone.

There is a bunch of apps to help you out
Usually i use this two
Wakelock detector
battery widget
Use those and paste a print here
Last night I left the WiFi on. Cleared all tabs in the recent and I lost only 28% .
Making progress. It was some app left running that kept it awake. Not sure what though.
Tonight I'll leave the WiFi off.

I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem with GEL (v. 0.10...) on Moto x (Sprint). I am on stock 4.4. I installed GEL and then i started noticing faster battery drain so I went to battery stats/history details and noticed that phone is awake all the time. I uninstalled GEL and phone now sleeps normally. Maybe GEL is not optimized for moto x??? Any ides?

I played around with GEL and Its not the launcher it self that's causing awake but the Google now that's on the home screen. I turned off Google now and it seems the phone sleeps now. The sucky part is that you turn off Google now completely not just the far left Google now screen. I wish there was a way to turn off just the far left screen and not the whole Google now. Oh well life goes on lol.
I have the Verizon Dev edition Moto X but when I go to charge the phone I have to press the power button to turn off the screen. It doesn't just dim then turn off after a while. I have active display on and daydream off but I'm not sure if that has something to do with it.
I should also mention that I'm not rooted or unlocked and running 4.4. Not the biggest problem in the world. In fact as I type this all I can see in my mind is the first world problems meme. Just wanted to know if there was a fix our if anyone else even had this problem.

Just a simple question : why is not lasting long the battery of moto g 2nd gen in cm12? In stock lollipop 5.0 it was pretty good, now i need to charge it twice a day cause it will drop quickly from 100% to 60%! Any suggestions or tips and tricks? Maybe i should calibrate it?
Sent from my Moto G 2014 using XDA Free mobile app
there may be applications installed that for some reason do not allow your phone go into deep sleep to save battery ...
the ROM is still under development and is not TOTALLY STABLE 100 % WITHOUT BUGS
not that this may be a problem with it , but rather with the apps that you install to be a custom rom .
Some background apps might be running. Always check and close them.
GPS always on is a common battery drain issue on Moto G. If you turn on GPS once it remain always on whether you turning itt off or not. Howewer if you turn it off and restart the phone it will turn the gps off. This solved my battery drain issue.

A change of charging block could be culprit. Some cause the phone to wakelock, due to how android mounts partitions over USB. Did you recently switch chargers?

No. No calibration. You calibrate every time you use your phone to 15% and charge back to 100%. Its just that simple. I recommend a reboot after using ANY charger that is not OEM once you've charged 100%
