If I restore an unrooted (no supersu) backup I made after unlocking the bootloader and installing TWRP. If I re lock the bootloader and do a factory reset in order to trade the phone will there be any problem activating it on someone else's Sprint account? Thanks

I can't find anything about how to detect a unlocked bootloader. I have a rooted N1 and want to know if my bootloader was unlocked by the former owner.
Can anyone tell me how to find out if the bootloader is unlocked?

When you start the phone, at the bit with the coloured x. Is there a padlock? If there is, it has been unlocked.

Oke, thanks! Then mine isn't unlocked!
Gonna search how to unlock it!

fastboot oem unlock
Peasy.
I have another question:
I've been searching about unlocking the bootloader, but what are the advantages of doing so?
I can already install custom roms.

Safer radio flash, you'll never be stuck without root. Can boot a new kernel/recovery without flashing it.
Only way to access phone if system and recovery become corrupt...
You can always unlock the bootloader later, but remember that you use the power button when unlocking the bootloader. If you have an iffy power button, you may want to unlock before the burton dies...

Thanks for the answers! I've unlocked the bootloader and when I was done I got a lot of FC's. So now I reflashed CM7 #18 and it seams to be working fine!
Thanks a lot!
But why would you wanna boot a kernel or recovery without flasing it?

Could be one of many reasons...
Say you want to restore a backup made with Clockwork, but prefer Amon Ra as your regular recovery, you can just boot into Clockwork, adbd not have to think about restoring Amon Ra, etc...

I bought a used phone. After booting in bootloader, it reads tempered and relocked.
Then i selected the option "recovery"... It showed some stock recovery type animation for a few seconds.... And when the phone booted, the phone was like factory reset.... Not even the sd card files were there... Completely wiped.
Is it normal?
Also how to check if it is rooted or not? And steps more needed to flash custom recovery?

Well that just means that they unlocked the bootloader and then relocked it again

Well, it sounds like the person relocked the phone and wiped all of their data before he sold it. What you describe sounds normal. You could download root checker to see if it's still rooted, but I highly doubt it is. Search these forums for instructions on unlocking and rerooting.

Hello everyone. Thanks for those who help me forward.
I've got a x8 which have a stock rom. The phone was sim locked to vodafone hungary, but i bought a software about a half yea ago, and it has benn unlocked, but the unlock wasnt permament as i remember. If i'll chnage the rom, the phone will be Vodafone locked again? can i change the rom and keep it unlocked?
You can change the rom/kernel after the sim unlock, you will NOT lost it.
are you sure? cuz then i will put on a 2.3.7 custom rom. btw i used the software of this site to unlock, htccode (called ezsemc s1 android v1.22, instead bypass unlock)and not the permament unlock, the other one.
I'm 99.9999% sure. Not tried the htccode method, but all other medhod (omnius, setool, plasmatool) is permanent (my x8 was also vodafone hu locked, unlocked with plasmatool). And finally: if the htccode method store anything on the visible partitions (system, data, cache), you can restore the previous rom from a backup.

i believe if you say, just in the program there was 2 option, first bypass unlock second full unlock, and i used the first, which is the bypass one.

but if u tell me to go on so, i'll try then.
This is your choice. As I wrote: I'm 99.999% sure the sim unlock not restored after a new rom install. If the sim unlock possible with writing something into the /system partition (what formatted with a new rom install) the people why use paid methods?
If you not sure: google about your used unlock method.

Hey all, I am having an Xperia Z C6603. Wondering if there is anyway of unlocking the bootloader and keeping all the data I currently have.
I have already rooted my phone and installed TWRP. Still using stock ROM
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thank you.
Follow sonys unlock guide where you get you unlock code from using the command prompt way, just remember to take ta backup

First time you unlock, no. It is not posible to keep your DATA partition.
Subsequents tries using flashtools, it will not erase anything.
So the solution is to make a NANDROID backup, unlock the bootloader, and then restore back

Hi, My first Motorola device so I'm unsure what I'm doing here. I've only had HTC devices, is the process the same? I want to have root to use sixaxis. Can I just unlock through Motorola, push a recovery and flash superuser? I'm on Sprint after the camera update but I'm not sure if that matters since I'm willing to unlock the bootloader.
Thanks!
Yes same process.
