From the time I got my phone about once every few hours touchless control activates for no reason nothing remotely close to "OK Google now" is said. Since the update in the play store it happens around 4 times an hour, even to loud indistinguishable noise In a bar. I've tried uninstalling an reinstalling touches control to no avail, as well as re recording the phrase. I'm on stock, us cellular model, ota applied, rooted, unlocked boatloader, any one else have this problem, or a fix?

I am not experiencing the issue you describe
Sorry you are having that issue. FWIW, I am not experiencing any issues like that so it sounds like something is definitely wrong with your hardware. I would try re-flashing the stock rom to see if that helps. Sorry I could not be of much more help.
I would like to avoid reflashing stock if possible, I've spent countless hours setting this phone up, I've gone 10 days without a flash ha I don't want to fall off the wagon yet even if it is just stock, I'm an ex flashaholic

When I first got mine it was doing that, because I just had the launch phrase as 'OK Google', and it got a lot of false positives.
I had to wipe my phone for the update, and since I rerecorded the phrase it hasn't falsely come on once.
Try saying the phrase slower.

I'll give it a try,ha it's getting excessive

9kracing you are a genius, re recording it very slow seemed to work for now, and it still responds when I say it fast
Sent from my XT1055 using xda app-developers app
The shorter the "activation" phrase, the more prone it is to false activation. I successfully programming it to activate off of " hey moto" but it was going off all the time in my truck while listening to the radio. "OK Google" was much better, but still regularly activated during normal conversations with friends. "OK Google now" is the best... It may trigger once a day while having conversation with friends or family, but that's it.
What do you currently have it trained as? I would first retrain it, if that failed, then uninstall the update and reinstall, again If that fails, wipe cache and reinstall the update to touchless... All else fails, back up your apps and data and restore to stock then restore apps/data and set up touchless again.
Good luck

I can live with some false positives, but my problem is that when they happen, screen gets to sleep, but stays Unlocked, meaning that any touch on it within my pocket starts calling people and such. Anyone else with this problem? Is there a way to relock/protect screen after using touchless control?
Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
I was having false positives five times per hour that's why I made this thread, but I got rid of all false positives by recording the phrase super slow, haven't had a single false start in over a week

It's a feature of their downloadable My Account/My Device app. It will deliver notifications when you reach your plan minutes, when your battery starts running low, and when it's been a long time since you rebooted. There's other stuff, all of which is disable-able Some of this stuff has been on that app for 3 years, back when you really did need to reboot on a weekly basis and not all phones delivered battery alerts.
Yeah I just turned it off on my sensation. That app is only good for telling you how many minutes you have left

This message comes from the My Account app for T-Mobile which I (and probably other people) use to keep track of minute, text, and data usage.
I also installed T-Mobile Visual Voicemail so I wouldn't waste minutes calling my voicemail.
Most carrier apps suck, but I find these two very useful

OK so the weirdest thing happened just now. I was charging my atrix HD when I went on it to check a phone number. Then it started opening apps and going on xda then other apps. I had no control over it. I couldn't even turn it off. I had to do the power and volume down thing to shut off. It was very creepy. I was just looking for a minute while the person did what they did. It was like when a person from dell controls your computer if something isn't working right. At first I thought it was being laggy but no! It kept going settings were changed and the person tried playing music on it! I turned it off before he could but the wierdest part is that I had turned of my wifi and set my phone on airplane mode so it can charge faster. No communication what so ever. Right now its off and I plan to keep it that way until someone can tell me what to do to protect myself. Also this could have been happening before i went to go check my phone. Which was like 15 minutes before I checked it. Please help

Maybe you installed an app that had a RAT or some other virus in it

That's what I'm thinking. A bad app. The likely hood of it being hacked are slim.

android is very hard to hack probably a virus delete data in cwm
Best thing to do is just wipe.
Easy way to do it is to go to Settings->Privacy->Factory Reset
It was probably a bad app.
Click thanks if I helped!

Another thing to be aware of is I've noticed Motorola's screens (at least on the Atrix models) are kind of finnicky. If there's a little bit of moisture around they just start registering touches on their own sometimes.
With my battery life being... less than ideal.. I find myself plugging into all kinds of chargers along my travels. Some non moto chargers make my phone go nuts, exactly like what was described - apps opening etc. Have experienced this several times. Feel the other explanations are possible of course but highly unlikely.

There was a story on the news recently that someone's iPhone was hacked by trying to charge at a public charging station. I would be weary of these charging stations.

Airport WiFi connections are VERY insecure. Basically they monitor everything that goes through. Text messages, calls, anything. Maybe they also have access to control phones?

I agree with above post non oem chargers can make the phone act funny especially the cheap dollar store chargers get an oem cable the you will know that it will work for charging and data.

My moto x is 2 days old. Was playing music then the music just skipped and stopped. Now in have no sound what so ever. Earpiece works but loudspeaker does not. Headphones work too. Did a factory reset but still nothing. Phone calls don't ring either. I'm thinking hardware failure. Any input will help. If I can't fix this I think I'm gonna just switch to a droid ultra !!

I had this issue happen to me. I was able to fix it by running a full system cleaning with fix permissions checked in an app called root cleaner. It can be found on the play store, but you need to be rooted and the app isn't free.

No issues with mine, nor have I heard of this being any sort of known issue. Very possible that you have a defective unit, you may want to exchange it, most likely a hardware issue and not software.
Sent from my XT1058 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yea has to be hardware. I jus started "slapping" it against the palm of my hand and it started playing. The speaker is pretty loud so I think its blown or something. Oh well now I can get the white one ! Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I thought this was the only phase it would follow, if I say okay only, it opens the search...or just okay google. Maybe google now? it is becoming a problem as my phone was on this morning on something searched I had not as it was on charger all night. Was randomly popping up seaches yesterday too. Anyone have this issue and know a way of resolving it? Makes me afraid for USC to get the 4.4 update...Thanks in advance.

Ever since camera update and gnow update to take OK Google from search results my motox has been super sensitive. It will go off from nearly anything. 4.4 root.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Ever since I took the I 4.4 ota from Verizon. The touchless control has also been crazy sensitive too. It goes off all the time and I don't know until she says 'the command canceled'. Not sure it a factory reset would fix it but haven't been willing to try that yet. Any ideas what else might fix it from being more sensitive?
Not sure what to do but its terrible for me too on 4.4. I'm going to have to turn it off. Keeps going off all the time.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I've been having the same problem, phone will be in my pocket or on my desk and I will randomly hear "command canceled"
Its very annoying and happens several times a day, and nothing even close to "OK Google" is being said.
Seems to be a fairly common problem so hopefully a fix is in the works
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
Try retaining the okay Google now command. It's important to do it in a quiet room and hold your phone at arms length.

I have read other posts here claiming that saying the training phrase more slowly helped with it accidentally turning on.
(I've had no problems myself, still on 4.2.2 with the camera update)

I've only had one "accidental" fire...
That's in quotes for a reason... My son and I were cooking on thanksgiving... My phone was in my pocket... His nexus 7 was displaying the recipe on the counter...
When the pie went in the oven...
"OK Google, set alarm for 30 minutes"
Nexus acknowledged the command and I told my son to come get me when the Alarm went off.
Obviously, he didn't need to... My phone's alarm also went off.

That's the odd thing, mine worked perfectly on 4.2.2 as well but ever since the upgrade to 4.4 it goes off randomly.
Of course I've tried retraining the phrase several times but it seems to make no difference.
Sent from my XT1060 using xda app-developers app
Yeah that is what's strange cuz I'm on 4.2.2 obviously since US Cellular hasn't got 4.4 yet. Even completely stock besides unlocked boot loader. Have used FXZ's in past week or two in order to lose root. Wondering if I should try a data and cache wipe. Not sure but today was actually pretty good without random searches.

Does anyone know what this notification means? It usually flashes then goes away quickly but this time it stayed for a longer period of time. Also, my phone has been freezing a lot lately and has delayed haptic feedback at times, I wonder if this has anything to do with it?

I've think that I discovered what means when enabled Extreme Power Saving.
It means Background Data Restricted.
