thats not an answer i was looking for

Without knowing the app, we cant answer What is the app name?
The fact that it is at a specific time, each day, is HIGHLY wierd.. Also, the app has NOT declared superuser permissions, this is sloppy at best, suspicius at worst. Also, it is a phone app, why need root permissions?
Install a root app (SuperUser by chainfire for example) that logs the request (the command it wants to run), to give us more to go on.
Kind Regards

Im having same issue. "phone" is requesting superuser access. Im also getting "system_server" requesting superuser access once everyday. Just updated to 3.62.401.1. And recently installed Xposed framework. Im also using tasker and secure setting. Dont know if these app could be causing this. I dont see any details from supersu log except it attempted to get su access...

One rooted when you try and run a program that requires root access a notification should open asking if you why to allow root access.
Click on the super user app. What happens?
nope nothing pop up to ask if i allow the access...
I have tried a two types of one click root program which is Superoneclick and another one by TGA_Gunnman..
But both act in the same way that nothing will pop up and ask whether to allow access...
What happens when you click on the super user app?
Have you tried rebooting the phone?
Have you tried replacing apk with market, search superuser in market, see if it shows installed, try to update or replace
You are on stock, correct
yeap i have tried to reboot after the rooting process...
I can open the superuser app too.
Yes im on stock.
Im thinking should i use z4root now?
Might as well. Did you check for the app in the market?
What are you looking to accomplish with root? What is your goal?
yup i checked the market too... it shows i ald installed the superuser..
Just want to root and use the rom manager to back up...
And i dunno y suddenly the root works! now im okay! Thanks for the help!
I guess we need to install again from market and reboot in order to use this...
No problem, who knows what the issue was. Enjoy, I am sure you will be flashing roms in no time

Rooting GT-P1010

Earlier I downloaded the z4root app from Amazon and 'supposedly' successfully rooted my GT-P1010 Tab. I say supposedly because after rebooting I didn't really see a difference beside the 'Superuser' app showing up amongst my others. I couldn't delete the stock apps (like WSJ, FT, NYT, etc..) which I don't use and one of the main reasons I rooted in the first place. Nothing seemed different whatsoever, besides my memory just being a bit lower.
What am I missing?
Get the app Root Checker from the marketplace. It will let you know if you are rooted.
If rooted, try Titanuim backup to frreze, instead of uninstall, any app you wish.

Thank you for the info! Downloaded the Root Checker app and apparently everything is great. Tab is actually successfully rooted and busybox is also working correctly. Did what you suggested next and added the Titanium backup to freeze apps I'd rather not have. Great app for backing up as well as I never would have thought I'd need it. I do have a lot to learn.

Problem with root apps

Hi,
I have an OB with stock rom 10e and Quasar Kernel. The rom is rooted and everything works fine, but I have one problem though:
At first launch all the root apps work fine (I grant superuser permissions and such), but when I try to start the app again (e.g. Root Explorer) the app just gets stuck in the opening process. This happens with different root apps. The only solution is to kill the app and clear the app's data via the settings menu. Then it works again.
Anybody has a clue?
Hum... can you try to clear cache and data of Superuser app, launch it and click ok about the features and then launch apps using root (of course it will ask again for permission) ?
I'm not sure it will resolve your problem but... well I'm trying something. ^^

That seemed to fix it. Will see, if the problem returns. Thanks!
Did you update SuperUser app and su file?
Problem persists. I rooted the phone using the blackjack.exe from UPK package. Superuser is version 3.0.7, I don't know about the binary though. Should I just reinstall superuser?

Arf too bad. :/
What is the version of your su executable ?

The binary was outdatet (was 3.0.0) and I updated it via the superuser app. Seems better now. I will wait and see. Thanks for your help!

[Q] Disable SuperUser Access Temporarily

I have rooted my phone (Samsung galaxy ace). I want to use some of my office related application which doesn't works on rooted device. How to disable the superuser accesses temporarily? I dont want to unroot my phone. Please help me in this. Sorry for my poor english
Open superuser app, go to settings and check the tickbox. If that setting is only available in the licensed version then buy the license on play store. In fact, buy it anyway! Support the dev!

I dont understand how an app *wont* work on a rooted device
if thats the case you can just deny root access when it asks for it, it should work just as well
or you could remove the su file from /system/bin and then replace it when you want superuser access back
That is pretty interesting...How an app wont "work" on rooted phones...Anyway,unroot it,the file is available on the thread, and flash root back when you need it ..
Insert witty sentence here

This is Impossible, I have to use that application daily, It is not possible for me to keep on rooting and unrooting my device always..
There isn't any app that won't work on a rooted phone, root just gives you access to the phone root directory...I believe its a problem with the app. Can you supply us with the app name?
Also, rather than superuser, use SuperSU from here
Its easier to use.
Also try going into superuser and denying the app root permission.

There are apps that don't work on rooted devices. They ask for su permissions, when granted or denied, the app closes.
Wich apps?

Just off the top of my head, try the "legend of master" game from the playstore, some sideloaded custom corporate apps, and the apps the OP is talking about.
If u are on rooted stock rom it must work
If u are on cm7/cm9/10
Then it might fail

Hmm... Okay then I've probably met some of those. Anyways, if they ask for SU permission then aren't they not meant for unrooted phones? If they don't run on unrooted phones and force close on rooted ones, then how do you run them?
Anyhow, please supply us with the app name. We can't help you if you don't allow us to.

[Q] Is it possible to get temporary root access on V?

I need to do something that require root permission (eg. access the files in /data/data), but I don't want to root my phone. Is it possible to do so? Please advise, thank you so much.
No. The only way to do this is to root, and unroot when you're done.

Using Towelroot it should be easy for you. Afterwards Supsersu can completely unroot your device again.
I suggest manufacturers implement something like a semi-rooting or a temporary rooting.
As peter-k says, use Towelroot and then use SuperSU to unroot again.
Check this thread to root your V .
wow, thanks, you guys are really helpful!
First I have tried to Google "semi-root". Although no luck, at least I have learnt a new keyword "semi-root".
Then I have tried TowelRoot, and it is really fantastic! I pressed on the button of the App, and the file manager app I used to use immediately has access to the /data/data directory, without ever a reboot! After I done with /data/data, I installed SuperSu from market, than press "Unroot". The root access gone, also without ever a reboot! I think I will keep these app on my phone, so that I can gain root access at anytime I needed.
And, thank you for your help, hope you guy have a good day.
