Hi xda members,
I have a problem with my O4X after trying out "simulate secondary display" option in developer settings, now I have loop boot animation.. How do I fix this? I'm running latest nightlies Vanir ROM.
I tried:
- reflash
- cache wipe
Thanks!
Somehow I managed to enter Safe Mode and disable secondary screen option
Steps:
1. Power button
2. After device was on, boot animation was still running
3. Power off and hold Vol+ and Vol-
4. Disable simulate secondary screen

I tried it, but it goes to a black screen without doing anything.. any suggestions please? :crying:
EDIT: I found the solution, I don't know why but it didn't work for me. So I continuosly pressed the menu button when after restarting the smartphone until the end, et voità, safe mode. I deactivated the secondary screen option and everything went back to normal.
ex0rt you just saved my 300$, my deepest thanks.

touching is not a compulsion. touch part comes into play when you have two different recoveries installed.

Sorry, i didn't understand. I have to power off, power on and than press back button?
Please can anybody finally help me?
No definitive solution?
When on Sony logo repeatedly press back button many times.
Here it goes:
Option 1:
· Reboot normally. Don't use the option to reboot into recovery.
· Press the Back button over and over again.
· If the phone boots normally without entering recovery check next option.
Option 2:
· Reboot normally. Don't use the option to reboot into recovery.
· Press the Sony Ericsson logo over and over again.
· If the phone boots normally without entering recovery check next option.
Option 3:
· Reboot normally. Don't use the option to reboot into recovery.
· Press the Volume Up button over and over again.
· If the phone boots normally without entering recovery check next option.
Option 4:
If none of the options above work, you most likely have a corrupt recovery.
· Get x8toolbox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117100 .
· Make sure you have the PC Companion Software installed.
· Make sure USB Debugging is activated.
· Install a recovery using x8toolbox.
· Enter recovery pressing of the Volume buttons over and over again.
@CnC-ROCK - How you enter into recovery is entirely dependant on how it was configured, not on how many recoveries you have installed. For example, if you install dual mode recovery using x8toolbox, you enter xRecovery using the Volume Down button; and CWM, using the Volume Up button. See? In this case no touching is necessary.

Sure you can. Make sure you actually use the dual mode recovery option in x8toolbox, and not just install xRecovery on top of your current recovery.
By the way, I don't see any reason why you would need xRecovery nowadays. But you can.
I just tried to install CM 10.1.3 on my Motorola Atrix HD.
I forgot to wipe data and cache before installing the ROM, and now it is stuck in the boot animation.
When I press the power and volume keys down together, it takes my phone to a black screen, and when I press them again on the black screen it gives me a brief menu that says
"Normal power up"
"Recovery"
"AP Fastboot"
"Factory"
and another one I can't recall.
This screen times out in about 3 seconds. and regardless of which item from the menu I select, it still shows my boot logo, then the CM animation. I cant boot into fastboot or recovery, and I can't find anything good online to help me.
Help! What do I do?
Hi. There's a catch about the bootloader mode (the menu you're describing). You have to press vol down to scroll down to Recovery, and then press vol up to select it. Pretty dumb IMO but that's how it is.
If you're completely sure you can't get to recovery using this method, you could try going into download mode and factory reset through fastboot:
Here's the guide to get fastboot working:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226527
To go into download mode, shut down the phone completely, hold down the power button and volume down buttons. Then let go of the power button while still holding down the volume button and it should boot to fastboot (download) mode. The connect usb cable to your pc.
You can do a factory reset (format data and cache partitions) using fastboot -w.
Btw, is there any particular reason for going CM10? CM11 is just so much better now, nightlies are pretty good (12/20 has been rock solid for me, even with ART enabled).
Good luck!
My phone totally bricked. I can't turn it on or boot to recovery, download mod
When i turn it by press power button: black screen with: lcd_backlight_ctrl start mode.....
When i boots into download mode: emergency dload mode (arm9 mode)
When i boots into recovery mode: Recovery Mode Button (back key) PRESSED
Odin still can detect my phone but it stuck at setup connection....
But i can turn my phone on by combine Vol Down + Power up, but when it on power button, vol up not working, sd can't mount...
I try many ways to fix it, but it's no use
Any ideals to fix my phone????
Sorry for my bad english
More details needed.
What did you do before you bricked it? Flash a custom ROM? Attempt to root? Tweaked system settings?
Without this info, we cannot help you.

My phone was frozen when I was taking a video,
then I forced restart the phone by pressing power button until it restarted.
However, my phone stuck at the android logo for a quite long time with the screen on, so I decided to do a factory reset.
I have tried the following steps on my friend's phone as we bought exactly same phone,
and succeded at first attempt.
1, volume down + power button goes into boot options.
2, then android logo, then about 2 seconds later, dead android guy would appear.
HERE is my phone's problem:
in this step after showing android logo, my phone would vibrate once and then just gone black, just like turning off. NO DEAD ANDROID GUY showed up. Certainly would not be able to do the rest steps.
I have searched and tried so many methods that others used when they could not get into the bootloader. NONE of them succeded.
So I need help, guys.
Anyone got any ideas.
Thanks in advanced !!!
no one ?
I guess I had to bring it to the store for repairing.

1. power button + volume(down) button
then in bootloader menu:
2. volume(down) button to goto down to 'recovery'
3. volume(up) button for selecting it
Alternative I would try this:
power button + volume(down) button
then in bootloader menu stay here connect usb and use fastboot on pc.
fastboot flashall factoryImage ????

I don't enter in the fastboot mode. The phone is blocking in mode FFBM and I can't touch de bottoms on display
Press & hold Vol+ and Vol- - now press (and hold) Power until phone vibrates. Release power key.
If there is a new screen, release Vol keys,
Select ENGLISH and shutdown.
Now restart phone

Nope. I have the same situation and am stuck with the test mode screen when attempt to boot the system. Recovery works fine. Tried the hold both volume buttons and plug into PC, and now have tried this. Always the same screen, nothing about selecting English, just the option to access the Options Menu. Selecting Fastboot takes me to menu where Ican select Recovery, Startup, AND "Boot to FFBM". Have wiped all but internal SD, and "Repaired" System, Persist, Cache. Have tried installing an official ROM and Lineage ROM. No combinations of these have fixed the problem.
Problem started when I was updating the official ROM and decided to try out the FFBM boot option. BIG mistake.
Now am stuck with a system that will no longer boot.

UPDATE: TWRP 3.0.3-0 saved my ass. It permits selection of booting into EDL (9008) mode, bypassed all the PC based commands that weren't working, and I reloaded Zuk factory ROM again. Got past the test mode screen finally. Discovered that I don't care for the original ROM at all, too many Google things I'm accustomed to (Like Google Play store) missing. Added a few things back in, but wasn't worth the trouble. It took me about 15 minutes to refla sh it using TWRP with the latest nightly version of the Mokee ROM for this device (Android 7.1.2) and it works GREAT. Lineage wasn't ready yet.
The only hold over from all my initial problems is that upon boot it acts of if I'm doing the up Vol button action. It goes to the screen where I can press a Vol button and go into the boot loader or just wait 5 seconds for it to carry on booting normally. I don't know how to correct this, but not really a problem.
