Android 4.4 KitKat running on Nexus 4 + Benchmarks - Nexus 4 General

This is the new Android 4.4 AOSP ROM, which was just recently published by PA, running on Nexus 4.
In the video I go through the new stuff that's been added to Android, including the new "Ok Google" feature.
I also ran benchmarks and the results were better than I expected!
Antutu benchmark score: 16867 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_8_I6xHiOk)
Quadrant benchmark score: 5042 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aQbUfnrwU4)
The scores will improve once Google released the official ROM with all the binaries and what not.
Here's the original ROM thread:

It's not Ok google now, is just the old Google command but now from the launcher. I tought that Nexus 4 was received the ok google now from moto x

Wait a second. Wouldn't the always listening feature kill the battery?

AFAIK It's only listening while on homescreen & screen on.

TToivanen is right, the battery stays intact as it only listens for the keyword while on the home screen.

Results should increase when actual 4.4 binaries/drivers+kernel is released with factory images.

Thanks for sharing. It seems to be very similar to stock 4.3 performance-wise.
I have 17097 with Antutu and Quadrant with 5025. So basically the same..

People need to chill out and wait for an official update. Without the real kernel, binaries, and Factory Image, you're really not getting a taste. You're using a broken ROM...

Nexus owners don't like waiting... In fact many bought a nexus so they wouldn't have to wait on an update. Now Google is making us wait. Kinda BS. Pretty annoying.
I personally am refusing to use some broken 4.4 ROM. Stock 4.3 till the ota is pushed.

Agreed. I bought an N5 and part of it was because I couldn't wait for Kit Kat to get on my N4. I don't understand why Google doesn't start sending updates to the Nexii all ready.

Gotta admit, their replies were somewhat humorous. I saw some charter about a port about a month ago, but not much since. Forts figure though, that its going to be light on the current features of the ROMs since they've diverged in their current iterations. PA is no longer CM based, which would make the mash up more problematic.
Along these same lines, a rom that I wouldn't mind setting on the N7 is JBSourcery. I'd find it hard to be without PSprefs, however.

Since as the article says it requires a "tool" to actually get it on a device I don't see anything being available to us that actually works till at least the end of the year.
I'd be happy with better battery life, but it'll be weird without the playstore. I wonder how or if playstore apps could be ported?

My main concern is that they usually only make significant UI changes with major numerical version updates. Since it's 4.4 and not 5.0, my thought is that there will be probably a few new features within more or less the same UI. That's not a problem, per se, but in my opinion the current Android UI is getting a little stale and could really use a refresh (especially the launcher). That's mainly what I'm hoping for in the next version of Android. I suppose we only have a couple months until we find out for sure though.

The overall theme basically hasn't changed since ICS. That's why I was hoping for version 5 and a refreshed UI. Jelly Bean is nice looking, but it's getting a little stale. We don't want the exact same look version after version like iOS

I personally like the way android's interface is right now. Besides there are many options with custom romming and custom launchers that allows you to customize it so much that a "major upgrade" isn't necessary. Just my opinion though.

OH REALLY?
Please send me a link to a Sprint GS4 4.3 leak or ROM. The international and other GSM carriers have a leak which has been ported to the Sprint gs4, but this isnt from sprint. So how do you expect to have a 4.4 KitKat Official update to the Sprint GS4 in the next month or so if we don't even have 4.3 yet. It at least another 1 month before we get 4.3 official update. then another 2-3 months for 4.4 update. Which puts it in the Jan/Feb range. So do not tell me I am ignorant and stupid.
And you should really read the rules. Here is the specific one I am referring to, just in case you forgot it.

All I found was Dev Preview threads. Instead of digging through 100s of pages; thought we can discuss the clean build once we start getting it. Would be great to see when it actually starts rolling out and what difference / updates there are compared to the DP.

Hi there.
The source in the Android Geeks story is the message Google sent to developers recently saying Android 5 will be released to consumers on Nov 3. What that means in reality is anyone's guess.
I'm in London UK with a Nexus 5 waiting for the OTA update too. Hoping it's today but certainly not holding my breath.

The image that is credited to XDA is the feature image of the Android with working tools only. This framework has not been posted anywhere other than to the small private beta group. Once the developer is happy that enough progress has been made I understand that the next step will be a public beta and that will probably be posted on XDA.
