I would like to add a gesture or something that brings up a menu button. I've used Xposed to get rid of the black bar menu button and have been using Pie Control to add a menu button when I swipe in from the side. However, Pie Control doesn't really work reliably for me and I hate that it's notification is the word "Pie" just up there all the time. I even bought the Pro version hoping I could change the notification, but no dice. Anyway, does anyone know of an app similar in function to Pie control but with a less obnoxious notification and that works more reliably?

Hi guys!
I'm on stock 5.1 and I miss only on feature from cm based rom: smart pull down notification (if there aren't any notification, pulling down is opening the toggles ; if there are notifications, pulling down is opening the notifications).
This option used to be available on gravity box for kitkat, but not in lollipop.. Is there a way or an additional module to obtain this feature?
Thanks a lot!!
Check out the app LMT PIE. Amongst many other very useful things, it has what the dev calls "invisible swipe areas." I use one in the center to to fully open the notification drawer. You can set one on the top right to open the quick controls. It's not exactly what you describe, but you can always get the view you want just by pulling down from the preselected area.
There is an option under QuickSettings management in GravityBox to pull down the toggles using the right or left edge of the notification bar. It doesn't work exactly like smart pulldown but it's a decent work-around.
thanks guys
but i really like to have smart pull down.. i think i'll have to try back cm12.1!
I have recently upgraded my software to the latest pie version on my note 9. A feature I find rather interesting is the full gesture control. However, when I enable gesture hints, i get this thin white line at the bottom of my screen in certain apps. Like Yahoo mail. On the lock screen and normal menu it isn't there.
When I disable gesture hints I dont see it at all on any of my apps.
It's no big deal but it just annoys me.
Is anyone experiencing the same thing.?
Is probably because it just hides the navigation bar with hints enabled which is why I'm seeing the thin strip at the bottom ?
Finally i upgraded my note 9 to pie. Battery life is certainly better. But I have 2 issues:
I have set a custom screen dpi in developer options to 455 dpi. In oreo it was perfect but in pie somewhere the text is too small like names below the icons, widgets and somewhere the text is too big like clock text in the status bar and text in device care app. Also the icons are way too big in proportion to the text below. Am I missing some setting?
I had set swipe down gesture to open the notification panel under homescreen settings in Samsung launcher. It was working perfect in oreo but in pie it sometimes work 1 in 3 tries and sometimes even 1 in 5 tries, i.e., i swipe down on the screen and nothing happens. Whereas swipe up to open the app drawer works perfect without any issues. Strangely if I disable the notification panel gesture, the default action for swipe up or down becomes opening app drawer and it works just fine without any problem. Anyone else noticed this strange behavior?
If not already, wipe the partition cache as that usually helps with most issues after update.

For the first question: Why not use the scaling, font size, zooming options from the settings menu?
For the second one: no, for me it works perfectly fine.

The scaling options available under display settings cannot go till 455 dpi.

I've got the same problem you mentioned in #2. It's pretty annoying! It's like it's become less sensitive, or the activation area is now higher and in the middle, or your swipe needs to be longer.
Not sure for the first question, but Nova Launcher from the play store (as do many other good launchers) have multiple gestures. Nova Launcher has the gesture that you pull down on the home screen to open notifications and also has swipe up to open app draw as well as many other gestures. I use Nova Launcher with those gestures and it works very well.
I have the same problem swiping down it's so annoying
And strangely flicking up for apps works so easy but more pressure is needed for downwards? Must be a software issue

About swipe down, do you have any widget on your homescreen? If you swipe down on a widget, it gets the swipe gesture instead of the homescreen itself so the notification panel doesn't shows up.

No widgets. I also enabled to view screen touches in developer options. And I can see its registering my swipes everytime but the notifications panel doesn't open everytime.

Hello!
I had an update (April security update for Pie) and now multiwindow has stopped working. Holding down the recents does nothing, I can't even find a mention of multiwindow in settings. WTH? Anyone else have this?
To clarify, I'm talking about split screen. Windowing still seems to work OK...

In the recents screen, press and hold the app icon and a menu with options will Pop up including split screen.
Install Good lock and MultiStar module to get the full multi window features back. The only thing is gone is the holding down the recent key to multi window. Now it is all in the recent screen by taping the app icon or dragging the app down or up on top of an active app. (Have an active app running, tap on recent button and sliding the desired app up or down to activate multi window. )

Thanks, all. These options work. Weird how they removed the long-press on recents....

Correct, it was a leftover from betas/android oreo - they never intended to have it there (iirc), thus they removed it as a "bug fix"... I also don't agree with their decision + they are big customer for google, I also refuse to accept the reasoning how google policy forced them to gutter the great multitasking they had on oreo, nougat and even MM. As said, multistar/goodlock returns 90% of the functionality + you can even turn on two activities same time, that way while you game you can open another app in pop-out without game freezing on the background, etc.
I have a quick one about that horrible gesture solutions in p30pro. Device is not bad when You'll get used to it.
But anyway i've been running sub apps like nova launcher for example. Major problem is notification bar
which doesn't appear after gesture but search ai by huawei instead.
Lets say that i dont want to use any external apps like launchers etc, etc. for one thing each.
I have already dissable search ai app using adb comands.
Also i know how to swipe down notification bar using my laptop
and finally my question is...
Can we use adb to write somehow command for gesture "swipe down" and bind for it an action to expand notification bar?
