Flash Google Play ROM to factory unlocked HTC One? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi..
I recently bought a factory unlocked HTC One and have flashed a couple different ROMs so far to see which one I like, but was curious if it was possible to flash the latest Google play ROM to it. And if so, what should I look out for?

Yes, it's very possible to flash.
Any ROM made for the M7 (essentially any ROM under the development and original development subforum) will work just fine.
Personally I like ARHD, but the stock ones are great as well. If you want something more customized out of the box, Sinless is the way to go imho.

Hey thanks for the input. do I need to do anything special with the phone and it's bootloader or CID, or can I just flash it and go?
I just saw this page and it got me wondering...

As long as you're bootloader unlocked you can just flash away!
You'll need to S-off if you want to do the full Google Edition conversion (essentially just flash the hboot or bootloader). But just the ROM you can flash away as you wish without having to to any sorta trickery.

Do you mean you want to install vanilla android like the Google Play Edition? If so you would need to unlock/s-off/flash custom recovery etc then you should be good to go. Check out the google play edition threads, make sure you read up on what you need to do to get there.

If you want to flash a custom rom you will need to devunlock your phone, flash a custom recovery (then backup current rom for safe keeping) and flash the rom of your choice. If you want something stock I would recommend this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023

[Q] Closest to Stock Developer Edition ROM?

Hey all,
I was thinking of finally taking the plunge and unlocking my One and installing a ROM. I don't really need any fancy bells & whistles...mostly just want to take my AT&T model and turn it into a Developer Edition (or as close as possible to that).
I've searched the forums, but still haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. The closest I found was this Developer Edition conversion thread, which seems to have its own issues with reception indicators and such:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601356
Has anyone else successfully made this conversation? Thanks in advance!
My phone is unlocked, s-off, SuperCID, running lastest dev. firmware 4.19.1540.9. The closest rom that I've found based on this firmware is SkyDragon v15.1. It's not completely "stock", but it works for me. Hope this helps.

So convert your phone with the latest dev edition RUU. You will need S-OFF.

You just have to edit your SKU ID to make your reception icon looks like they were before

[Q] Several Questions Please Help

I bought an HTC One (M7) second hand. The previous owner had rooted the device among other things.
It's currently working on Rogers network.
Can you help me find out what the original software version/carrier was on it?
I was thinking of using the latest Rogers RUU but I don't want to wreck anything.
Is there anything that may hinder me from using the RUU?
The phone shows, S-On, *Tampered*, *Unlocked*
Please give me any advice you can and I can clarify anything you need.
I have experience flashing roms on other phones this one seems more complicated.
My main goal is to have a stable Android 4.4+ on my device.
Thanks!

You're saying I should leave it alone and just flash a custom Rom vs a stock one?
I actually like that idea.
But, if I wanted to go stock in the future could I just use the RUU or would I need to do some other changes first?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app

Yeah just install a custom rom.
I need to go back to stock for warranty still trying to figure out what to do execty.
there are some guides on how to do that. but since you have a second hand I don't think you will have to ever go back to stock for warranty issues

This may be in the wrong section, sorry.
My phone is modded with the twrp recovery and i installed skydragon and many other roms because the original os crashed(it broke, I couldn't get in). My question and problem is setting up the carrier(ting) through the custom rom, or if i can't, can a have a stock rom or something to set it up on? i haven't found any that I feel comfortable installing.
Thanks in advanced.

If u want to flash official rom in ur device then just get the firmware and rom file for ur phone model and flash it via htc one m8 toolkit or from hboot. The official roms for m8 are stable and it should not crash.
