Although set minimum brightness , at night is still too bright that my eyes is uncomfortable.
i tried some apps such as screen filter but screen effect is not clean.
Have some good way to solve this problem?for example , modify the system brightness driver or modify the minimum value?
thanks.

I tried to set "ro.lcd_min_brightness" to a lower value in build.prop but I didn't notice any difference. You could try it, maybe I was wrong.

Heh, I thought it was only me to think the min brightness is too high.
I confirmed Lux auto-brightness works.
Have you tried screen filter from Google play?

can i use a program to decrese brightness as "screen adjuster" for more battery life or it ll affect the lcd life
I don't know about battery life, but it will decrease the burn in effect.
Sent from some place using the XDA ap.
I use an app called "screen filter" which has been around for years. It WILL NOT save your battery but it saves your eyes and your partners at night in bed and in the morning when the alarm goes of I use it daily.
Is there any way we can reduce the minimum & maximun brightness in rooted phones, by modifying the system files?

Check the build.prop for lcd minimum brightness value. Modify using rom toolbox and check if it work for you.
I was annoyed with the brightness issue. Screen filter solved it. Thanks

I'm a little disappointed. I bought touday I8190N and I can't set auto brightness. The sensor exists but doesnt't work. Is it used only for useless option for following my eyes function? Is possible to use it as ambient light sensor as usual?
Use Lux it will use the front camera, no auto brightness apparently.

Google Play says it isn't compatible with my I8190...
On Google Play it claims that app is incompatible with I8190N
Ignore that, it says that because our phone's don't have ambiant light sensor. I've installed it and works for me it uses the front camera too sense light.

How can I ignore it, as Google Play should be spoofed for downloading it, or even paying for full version? I don't have root yet on my I8190N,
and GP is preventing me from download this app. Maybe author shoud enable downloading for NFC version of S3 mini?

What values did you set for lux settings ?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
I haven't changed any settings, but if you go to modify samples, then Luma there are 2 yellow bars with 1 & 255. You tap the bars to edit them if you like.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
i8190 doesn't have light sensor, and the standby function uses front camera (and it works really bad imho). So there's no way to do it
Using lux for auto brightness and no problems like on sensor. Just little edited values in LUMA

In build.prop you can find this line:
Code:
ro.lcd_min_brightness=30
Maybe if you use a high number what you want.

I think that is for minimal brightness ...lcd_min...
And @Qadir64 how your screen is very dark? Do you use brightness control? Tried to set it to automatic?
I took my fathers Iphone 5 to compare the screens and i saw a great difference between the brightness

That build.prop entry only changes the minimum brightness to 30. It does not enhance the brightness
You wouldn't care where I sent this message from.
A lot have said the auto brightness is too aggressive which results in it being too bright. Could someone modify it to tone it down a bit?

A formula resulting in maybe 60% brightness compared to default would be perfect for me.
Try this one if you are rooted:
