[Q] internal storage problem, can't delete folder - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
Something wrong went with my xperia z iternal storage. I cannot delete my once created Obb folder located in the /sdcard/Android/. I can copy files into it, I can delete files in it, but the folder itself cannot be deleted. Have tried format through the recovery, and tried Factory data reset in the Backup and reset settings. I flashed different firmware with Flashtool with whole wiping. Nothing helps, the Obb folder still there...
What can I do with this problem? Can I somehow check the internal storage for errors like we do it with a memory card?

I would try fixing the permissions then formatting it if it were me. Installing a FTF firmware may do the trick to.

How to do a complete backup? (lost apps on the internal SD)

So I had my phone working and decided to try a kernel found here.
I went on, flashed the kernel through cwm, and nothing worked (stuck at loading screen with continous reboots).
So I flashed my recovery image, rebooting stopped by stuck it was at the loading screen anyhow.
So, since I could not come out of it, I downloaded a stock rom (I was running stock by the way), flashed it (with smartflash), rooted it (superoneclick), installed cwm (now v5) and I'm back on.
So I flashed the recovery, and most of the data is back but I lost all the apps on the SD card.
The SD card is the same from which I flashed the recovery image through CWM, and all my music is still there.
So might it be possible that the apps are still there too?
What can I do?
Why all the SD apps disappeared?
Edit: ok maybe we're talking about internal SD card... may it be the CWM v5 doing recovery from a v4 zip?
had this problem very, very, often...
nobody really could help me, but i know, its because of problems with the android_secure folder.
so i´m not an expert and i really don´t know what s the reason, but i tried some things and sometimes it helped...
it can appear if something goes wrong when you install an app or move an app from phone to sdcard, or when you want to restore them with titanium or cwm.
the possibiltythat it happens increases when you do both at the same time or, move many apps at the same time p.e. with gemini or install many apps at the same time (p.e. with panda pc suite).
or if something goes wrong with a market update.
mostly, it starts that you can´t install apps anymore. after reboot all apps on sd are away.
with luck you can repair it and get the apps back.
-delete the market cache.
-delete file smdl2tmp1.asec in android_secure folder on sd card or in mnt/... secure.. damn forgot the path of the second folder where this file can be. gotta google for it.
-or create a new android_secure-folder. unmount sdcard. rename android_secure folder to something different, so that there´s no more an android_secure folder. put sdcard back in the phone, reboot the phone. there will be a new empty android_secure folder. shut phone down, put sdcard into pc again, copy all files from renamed folder to the new android_sd folder, put card back into the phone, restart it and wait. with luck, your apps are back again.
don´t now, maybe it helps when you delete dalvik cache and cache before restart. sometimes it worked, sometimes not.
in your case, your apps are away after restore and not because of install/move2sd issues... so in this case its important to completely delete android_secure folder before restore. make a fullwipe. and after fullwipe i would restart phone once, so that a new clean android_secure folder could be created. hope something helps.
edit:
i did a little trick, that my external sd is mounted as sdcard in my phone. so normally the internal sd card is the "sdcard" in the phone. so, cos you can´t put your internal sd into the pc, you gotta mount it with usb connection.
Thanks but I'm afraid in this case the content really got deleted after I reflashed the rom...
IS there a way to really save everything via cwm?
Or should I use another software?
Also if flashing baseband: what will get deleted?
Flashing baseband will wipe /data

And how does /data relate to my problem?
Is /data backed up by cwm or not?
What is not backupped by cwm and how to backup it?

but you can restore it with nandroid, right? it's going to be just as before?

If you mean baseband then the answer is no. It restores your ROM and all the apps including their data.

Assuming you remembered to back it up yeah.
My radio flash procedure is:
NANDroid backup
Smartflash radio
NANDroid restore
Push new RIL
Use phone

I don't think so.
Kdz tool and official updater didn't wipe data. (Aren't you ?)
They did change only baseband and systems.
But you have to nandroid backup to avoid bricked.
You may not think so, but it does.

Definitely wipe /data
Both Rusty! And myself always test new basebands and it definitely wipe /data.
Edit: sorry I'm referring to smartflash.

I think you would be correct.
It's only my opinion.
i use kdz tool, no user data will lost, only system(happened on me 2 times). don't use smartflash it will wipe all data

dont know about kdz, official updater didn't touch my /data at all. i mean, my apps were just as before, the settings...
just use titanium backup and make sure the save location is in the sd card
For certain apps that have their own way of saving data, it might not always work.
I just can't find the correct answer in the posts I've read so far.
If I flash a kernel that doesn't work, and then I restore a CWM backup, why it wouldn't boot again?
If I reflash the stock rom and then restore a previous CWM backup, why something won't be there?
What exactly should I do in CMW to obatin a complete backup?
Or should I use something else?

[Q] Help, all wiped but can't install zip

looks like i am in a big problem here.
i tried to use Clockwork to wipe and install a new rom, but after wipe dalvik, cache and data, i cant update the rom.
i tried to use too diferent zips i have in my sd, but i get a error.
trying "applying a zip from sd card" and "choose zip from sd", i can't enter in the "_external sd" folder, it just return to the previous folder (internal sd) and there is only a "update.zip" there wich i don't know what it is. I had the hope it was a update i did with rom manager but this zip doesn't work too.
if i try the roms that are in the clockwokrmod folder, i get "no files found" and i have to folders inside clockworkmod folder.
what i should try?
now when i click in any option stuk with a image of the exclamation and the Android the android dummy ((((
edit: oh, the menu is back, but i still don't know what to do.
Did you try flash another ROM for odin?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
i restarded the ox2. I see sd, system and data was unmonted. But even with this mounted don'est work. I am not able to enter in the dir _external sd.
but in the clockwork folder in the internal sd i have 2 backups and they doesn't work too "no files found"
I restarted it now in normal mode and the system is there, just in default mode, asking me to configure, etc.
If i wiped data, cache and everything, where was the files that allowed this rom to "survive"? At least i can use the phone today. I am almost giving up of flash the rom
Please help, why clockwork did not recognize any zip? looks like it was not able to enter any directory
I think you need to select install zip from internal sd. That is the only way I found to install the .zips on my _ExternalSD folder.
BTW, I won't be able to restore the CWM backup because needs to be on an external SD.
I hope it helps.

Sounds like it's a case of switched mounting points, try install from internal sd.

the problem is that it was accessing any folder, even in internal sd. I don't if the app was able to recognize that there was not a valid file inside the folder or was really a error.
i am almost giving up. Thinking in change only baseband, as i believe it is safer than chaging a rom.
i don't understand how/where the device was able to boot with a "new" rom after the reboot. I thought after clear data, cache and factory reset was like formating Windows in pc. And the last command when i was in clockwork was a simple reboot, not recovery, etc.
Did you put the .zip on your external sd card? In that case, you should go to mounts and storage and select mount sdcard. If it is already mounted, unmount and mount it again. It helps in some cases. Works for me at least, I cannot guarantee that it will work for you.

Files in storage disappears after a rom install. 21GB used and I can't find it.

I decided to flash the Android Revolution 4.2.2 ROM after waiting diligently for an OTA. I made nandroid backup, wiped my data and flashed the ROM as usual. As expected all app and app data were gone, but all the files, music and picture were as well. The twist is that they are still there somewhere within the file system. In my storage info it shows that I have 20GB of unknown files on my device but they are no where to be found. I checked:
/sdcard/
/mnt/sdcard/
/storage/emulated/0/
/storage/emulated/legacy/
/storage/sdcard0/
and they all showed the same default clean install files(weird). Is there a way to mount some partition I don't know about to recover my files? Is this a problem with HTC's weird sdcard emulation? Is there even a way to completely delete everything on internal storage?

As stated on mikes page it was highly recommended to format your sd before installation of 4.2.2... Because android 4.2.2 handles files differently from 4.1. Not HTC s doing I believe(correct if wrong)

Try data/media/
If it's not there then download DiskUsage and see if it helps you find it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage

BEFORE RUNNING THE ADB METHOD IN THIS WEBSITE, MAKE SURE YOU ARE IN RECOVERY AND MAKE SURE THAT ADB IS WORKING. DO NOT RUN THESE COMMANDS MORE THAN ONCE OR YOU WILL WIPE YOUR ENTIRE SDCARD. BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE ALL YOUR CRITICAL DATA OFF THE PHONE OR YOU WILL REGRET IT WHEN YOU WIPE OUT PRECIOUS MEMORIES AND DATA.
http://trickdroid.org/trickdroid-6-0-android-4-2-2-and-your-sd-card/
Use the ADB method. it will move everything.
I case anyone has the same problem. It was in data/media as redbull123 stated. It appears as if Astro File Manager doesn't display the files in the folder while ES File Explorer does.

Deleted internal storage in TWRP. Need Help.

I deleted the internal storage on my phone in twrp. What can I do to get everything back?
I think you're boned. Unless there is a way to pull the deleted data using software on a PC.
Fastboot factory IMG. Or use rom tool kit to flash a factory image. There is an option in twrp to connect to the PC where you can transfer files. You could always load a rom that way and flash a zip through twrp
As said above, you can still install a ROM. Or flash a factory image etc. But the data (pictures, videos, music etc) is gone. It was formatted and not likely able to be recovered. I assumed that's what you meant, when you asked to "Get everything back"?
My sad sad self went and did this. Still in TWRP. I've mounted system, data, and cache. I see the Nexus 6 in Windows 7 and see Internal Storage; it's empty. I cannot create new folders or copy files (ROMs, GApps, zips, etc) into Internal Storage without getting "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." I cannot for the life of me find another way to push files to the phone.. Any help is greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Is it still possible for me to follow Mr. Hoax's Tut through bootloader? (I'm really nervous to try and reboot into BL) It says I don't have an OS (obviously) when I get to the confirm reboot of TWRP...

[Q] can't take photos + read/write error

rooted, stock lollipop 5.0.2, problem started out of nowhere this afternoon...
camera won't let me take photos as it asks for an SD card. even after i insert an SD card, the error persists.
opening quickpic gives me the following errors...
Code:
not an error (code 0) could not open the database in read / write mode
Code:
unable to open database file (code 14)
can't delete ANY files manually in ES file explorer even with root explorer enabled.
booted into TWRP and cleared cache and dalvik to no avail.
seems like the phone can't read or write any data, except installing/uninstalling apps via google play still works. seems to be the same problem addressed in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/read-write-errors-advice-solved-t2323801 although i don't know how to identify the corrupt file(s) and delete them or fix permissions...
help!!
...bump?
basically wen that happens is because a file or folder is corrupted, it maybe in any place on your phone really difficult to find. That usually happens after you flash some (app, script), restore a TWRP backup, or a app that have root access doing the wrong thing.
i had this problem two times.
In the 1°, i fix by going in the TWRP, and erased my internal memory, after reboot all good.
this case was very simple i copy every file to pc, erase, after restore the one i need, and everything was fine...
In the 2°, i try that and was not successful, i need to re install the stock rom via fastboot from xml rom file to completed clean my OS.
In both cases, i was not able to make a Titaniumbackup, so i lost some data of a fill apps in the second (because i make a backup every week, if i didn't have it i probably lost everything).
If you don't use titanium, and don't wanna to loose things and app files etc, you can try copy everything on internal and external memory, by plugin on the device to a PC, after a TWRP backup of yours data, after wipe, dalvik cache, data, internal storage, cache, system, re flash the same rom you are now, and after test and see if you can write, restore the data backup.
But that data may corrupted your phone again, because the problem maybe in that.
So if after restore the data all goes bad, redo everything and do not restore data, you will lose app and data, but app can be reinstated.
:good:
