Hi all by default if your outside the the USA your OK Google voice command on the home screen won't work. You need to switch voice settings to English USA Video with guide below
Thanks for posting this. I wonder why Google limit it to just English US.

Could it be that the recognition is not currently working well with foreign accents?
still no love for non-english countries...
What are you talking aboot?! ahh darn that explains that with my Canadian English, OK Google didnt work, eh?

The annoying thing is that it was working earlier, had the text saying "say OK Google to search" but now it's gone.

Also have this, language set to US English, no hotword anymore.
Maybe it just realises you know what to do after saying it a few times so it disappears

It doesn't recognise the hot word for me. I've spent at least an hour changing settings and shouting "ok google" at my phone. It's not ok, google...

Yeah it disappears after a bit.. figures you've worked it out
It seems really sensitive - we had the N5 on one side of the office and saying OK google from the other and it picked it up perfectly - and worked even with our lancashire accents, which was a shock as I expected to have to do my best Cletus impression to get it working.

I've checked everything that can be checked: Tried changing phone language, keyboard input, voice output, voice search to US.
It works if I factory reset, so it look like I'll have to do that and restore my apps
changed to English US and still nothing, I look right mental sat here shouting at my phone

Ok, actually it's not random.
Exactly every 12 hours on the second (at 12 (PM) and 12 AM) a so called "toast" notification (the small grey pop up) tells me that GPS is turned off. The thing is, it's always off.
Anybody knows why this happens? It doesn't really bother me, but i'm really curious! Does the government track me (where's my tinfoil hat??) or is it simply a weird SW bug?
I don't have any strange or unpopular apps installed so it can't be spyware. Google told me nothing.
Any ideas? Thanks

I just saw this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/ReleaseNotes#Nexus_4
In rare circumstances, the Nexus4 may get into a state where it may not boot at all after the battery is drained (even into recovery). If this happens, the only way to restore it is to disassemble the back of the phone and unplug/plug the battery connector.

This means you have to void your warranty and open up your phone, so it's not just a soft brick.
I think more people should be aware of this before thinking OMG Ubuntu is awesome, let me try it on my phone! I was lucky enough not to encounter the above problem before wiping ubuntu and returning to android. The developer preview was extremely disappointing anyway, as its nowhere near at a usable state since the phone radio doesn't even work. It's more of a GUI design preview than anything else really.

Usually phones have a protection to avoid full discharge, but I guess Ubuntu doesn't.

I'm the police, and I see it 50 times a week that someone gets their phone stolen and it sucks. I feel for you. My device is encrypted, Sim locked, and password protected and I have Cerberus on it. You can't be too careful, we have so many people getting robbed of iPhones we call it apple picking.
Cerberus is a must for any type of security on your phone. Google should buy it and make it standard.

That sucks I feel for you. But if the imei is now blocked they may end up turning it into lost and found so check there for a few days and now lesson learned and you will have backup software from now on I am sure.

That sucks man. I'm sorry to hear it. I work out probably 6 days a week and always listen to music at a busy gym, I always use Bluetooth headset. Few times I left my nexus on a treadmill and didn't notice till my music became staticky as I've gotten far. I also always leave it by the courts when I run full court basketball, so do others. Crazy how mine hasn't been stolen yet. Knock on wood.

That´s not true.
The IMEI will be blocked by the AT&T and the N4 will no longer work with a sim card from AT&T network.
The problem is only one, the IMEI is going to be usable for other networks.
I guess Cerburus or any other anti-theft app will get wiped when flashing a factory image including user data.

Title says it. It always worked no sweat on 4.2. Now whenever I have the headphone jack plugged in it doesn't register any voice commands or input at all. Kind of annoying if you use your phone while driving to listen to music. So my question is has anyone else noticed or can test theirs for me? Am I missing a toggle in the menus somewhere? It's really frustrating me.

Yes as long as you have a picture set for the person that is calling you there picture will show on the watch.

Pictures do work on the watch. It seems to be sporadic IMO. I havent really paid attention to the pattern. I dont know if its a resolution issue or if the pic has to be linked to a certain account on the phone or what. The Samsung kiosk in Best Buy in my area was useless. I knew more about the watch than they did.

Sorry if I sounded rude. It is just that if he knows the Gear doesn´t get full functionality with his Nexus, then why is he wondering why he doesnt get caller id and photo.... It is pretty obvious it is for lack of compatibility.
