I think the firmware you are using is odexed.. You need to flash the deodexed zip for your firmware (user Agadoo uploaded many deodexed firmware..) Look for the one you need, flash it and then modify those apks

You need to use this. You can't get smali just with decomiling apk.
There is new tool. Just check backsmali in decompile option.ž

[Q] change s5830i screen lock

hello everybody...
before 6 month I was had ace s5830, but now after replace it by warranty I got ace s5830i ....
I love the slide screen lock in s5830 with android 2.3.3 and of course I hate the new one in 2.3.6 becuse it's not a lock !!
the new one is stupid thing in the android !!
as you know by slide lock you can unlock the screen or make your mobile silent without unlock..
I try some of lock apps but I don't like becuase it doesn't work great!
so how can I add it or replace it ??

You can flash an older firmware for 5830i because all the new firmwares includes the note lockscreen
Pd: i dont know how to flash the 5830i :/ but google is your friend
Pd2:its possible that all the firmwares for 5830i has that lockscreen so ask to another 5830i users for more help

How to change text below the toggle buttons

i have the 15 toggle bar for the note n7000... but the text below them are too big.. can anyone tell me how to change them?
Hey anyone.. No replies yes.... Hmmmm..
I know that it's in the values folder.... String. Xml.... But when I edit the file and recompile the framework... The phone won't boot.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
my question is add another language for title icon (i.e. italian) or change the title icon properly (i.e. flash light to flashlight).
i decompiled lidroid-res.apk add values-it and edit strings.xml, recompiled , put the new lidroid-res.apk into zip for cwm,
installed the zip via cwm, reboot but error ...
one week always error...
can someone help us?
Hey Devs.. please give us a hint of how to recompile the -res.apk file cuz we not getting any success.. i have been trying to get this done.. but failing every time... ...
You can try to recompile it, use and learn the tutorial on ApkTool (credits to memnoc) from this link -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511730

Thanks for ur response... but i seem to have used all the apktools available... i can recompile the "-res.apk" but when i put it back to \system\framework ... the UI FCs and the notification bar doesnot load.
unfortunately od has stopped. >> is the message i get when i put the modified "-res.apk".
i have noticed one thing that the recompiled apk doesnot have META-INF folder... although i tried to copy it and gave a try but still no go...
what i am trying to do is using a themed apk like lidroid or crikelos res .. decompile .. change some text under the toggle buttons ...
what am i doing wrong... ?
hmm... have you tried setting back the permissions on your modified -res.apk in /system/framework? Mounting it before hand?
If you have, you may indeed try to ask some devs or someone who knows their way in recompiling apks as this is a sensitive matter to touch with and I'm moderately more on contributing stuffs rather than delving into the internal programmings on the android ecosystem.
hmmm.. i have changed permissions as well still... Thanks for taking the time out

Go to apkyool.yml

Add -2
So it would look like

Then compile it lidroid-res again
Also make sure you have twframework-res.apk

Only sign lidroid if you have signed every apk in your rom
I normally do this
Decompile apk
Make changes
Compile apk
Go to original apk
Press right
7-zip
Open as archive
Delete res
Delete resources.arsc
Leave the 7-zip archive open
Go to
The decompiled folder
Go to build/apk
Copy all except androidmanifest.xml to the archive
Then its done you have an apk

Simple way to edit custom ROM

I wanna ask a simple question.... I want to edit a deodexed custom rom. If I open a custom rom zip installable file with winrar and lets say I will remove mobileprint.apk from system/app and i will extract (add) aweasome beats mod zip into the Rom that i modify... will this new modified zip rom file works for my phone ? do not send me rom guides etc pls... I just wanna know editing the rom file with winrar, is workable on the phone? Or there is more complex process to make it workable on the phone?

Extract ROM u want to edit.
Merge folders of your mod and ROM
Zip it and flash
Simple as that

Yes done it loads of times and works just fine
i think most of the pure stock deodexed roms do not have preload
I've used 7zip for this very purpose. Worked fine.

Don't play with Meta-inf commands
Except for the ui_print ones
And also don't use any kitchen . it will screw your update-script making unflashable or brick able ROM . trust me I have experience.
Just extract using any archiver .Don't use kitchens

Deodexed: http://d-h.st/5U2

Deodexed is from updated firmware, but it was some minor update a month after release JB. And odexed is from that first release.

[Q] Trouble with Wallpaper/Statusbar!

Hey guys!
I recently rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, and figured out it would be cool to change the theme.
I was going to make a S4 statusbar, so I changed the SystemUI, and deleted the .ODEX or something..
Something got fu... up, and now I am sitting here with no statusbar, when someone calls it doesn't show(just vibrates), my wallpaper is black aswell, and can't be changed.
Anyone knows how to fix this?
I don't have my original SystemUI..
Restore your nandroid backup if you have one or ask someone to upload their systemui.apk and .odex file and push them to your system/apps
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Yea, Ive tried different SystemUI files from other mods, but I guess I need that .ODEX file..
Thanks for the answer
If anyone got that file, please post it here <3

You have got a deodexed rom now it matter if you change the permissions or not.. Anyone out there using any rom such as rocket, ultimate, etc please share the systemui.apk from your system/apps..! Or frugis do it yourself by unzipping the rom zip you have flashed to get jb rom and simply copy system/apps/systemui.apk to your phone

I deleted my Android 4.0.4 and installed JellyBean 4.1.2. That fixed the problem
