I have Cyanogen's 4.2.3.1 installed with the 2.0 Maps application and Navigation works correctly for me.
Since I installed Navigation I am getting a huge "Double tap to answer" button that pops up on my screen when a call comes in.
A) It seems to have shortened the amount of time my phone rings before sending to voicemail
B) The double tap is flaky
C) It looks like ****
I have searched Google and the forums to see if this was an issue people had but can only find people talking about the in-call unlock screen.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to stop it?
Is your navigation actually on while this is happening? If you have the little triangle above in your task bar then it is.
If you are fully exited from maps this shouldn't come up. At least it doesn't on my phone.
This happens all the time now. Even with GPS off and the Maps app not even loaded. Persists through reboots.
Odd. This happens while I have maps loaded, but not when its not loaded.
How did you install navigation?
push back our old build.prop
Will pushing back my old build.prop disable navigation?
No navigation only needs it for the install. I thought that might be the problem. Push your old prop files back and good luck!
this happend to me aswell, but i actually liked the double click - box look
that would also happen when my phone was just sitting here, no nav on, it would just light up, and have the double click box lit up.
i was on 4.2.3.1.
all that ended when i flashed cyan 4.2.4
i didnt wipe.. or fix permissions.
i installed navs from other thread [basically just the update.zip and clear data]
and everythingg works just fine. thanks to all!
I didn't know 4.2.4 was out yet but thought a Cyanogen Mod update would probably fix that issue. Reverting to my previous *.props has fixed all the issues.
You should've posted this in the Q&A section or an existing related thread.
Anyways.. To get rid of the double tap box, you need to push back the original build.props. If you do that however, you'll lose navigation in a few hours, like 6 or 7 hours.
There's already a thread about this that's named something like "unlocked features from new build.prop".

I will remember that next time. After being on here for almost 3 years I forget that the newbie youngsters like to change how we have done things here. Like one thread per issue. Thank you for the helpful link to the thread you thought I should have posted it in, great to see that XDA hasn't gone all to hell with newbie senior members who just throw out dictates and then can't even do a decent job of helping people.
use this if you are running cyanogen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583684
Heres the thread for updated features from build.prop
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583030
I just did the install with the newest cyanogen and then tried calling myself and I dont have any issues.
Also, navigation works fine.
I have a G1 with CM 4.2.4, and I'm not having the issue either. I tested incoming calls with the NAV and in maps.
I finally got Navigation -and- paid apps in Market to show, but, I am experiencing the same problem as the OP mentioned.
I don't want to lose Navigation but this is a little annoying. Someone mentioned if I put the original build.prop and build.trout.prop back, Navigation will not show up. How can we get the best of both worlds?

i swear i feel like people just post without reading anything. i posted a link to a thread that will fix your problem. look up a few posts. another member here had an update.zip that will install the maps without breaking the market, without making the weird floating box, and without any other weird problems. if you are running cyanogen it will work perfect.
the .props need to me modified to allow navigation to remain longer than a few hours. just apply the update-navigation.zip from recovery mode and it will fix your issue.

Actually I am having this same issue WITH using that .zip but for me it is no big deal. We are lucky to have Nav, I will take it with whatever problems (temporary of course) it comes with!
i had the double tap issue after i manually installed nav on wednesday. today i ran that .zip and the box is gone. i dont get why it would work for some people and not others.
the zip was actually updated 3 or 4 times. so if you applied it when it was first dropped, maybe you have an old version
Does anyoe else's tab do this
When I scroll in a webpage or app, and I stop scrolling but still have my finger pressed on the screen, the screen starts to shake a little until I move my finger again, is it just my tab or is it a common thing?
Sent from my SCH-I800 using XDA App
the only thing i can suggest is that you are slightly moving your finger, its sensitive so might look like its shaking?

Mine does that too. I wouldn't be too worried about it since it only happens in the web browser for me.
Sent from my AT&T Galaxy Tab using XDA App
its not defective, its cause your holding your finger on it, especially in a web browser if your zoomed in a page and scroll it might happen.
its just your finger moving a tad bit that the tab senses. Also it might be catching two touch responses from your finger, not the tabs fault. Its the way you use it really.
Dont worry. The tabs touch response is pretty sensitive, which is VERY good thing trust me. Its better to be responsive then crappy on a touch tablet.
Sorry, but yes, it is a problem
I'll respectfully disagree. I have the same issue in my galaxy tab, and I've tried several others, this behavior is found in just a few.
I've made a video and a drawing test to illustrate it. I've put them in a page in a domain that I own.
(XDA still doesn't allo me to paste a link, but the address is fgfaria.com )
I've tried an app called touchscreen booster, which appeared to be appropriate from its description, but didn't notice any difference.
But there is a very intriguing point. It doesn't look like it's a hardware problem. I have installed touch test app, and with that the touch is perfect, no shaking. Also, specifically in youtube app, when scrolling the list of videos, it doesn't happen.
I need to find out why it happens pretty much everywhere, but not on youtube app and touch test apps.
Just to make it even more complex: as you'll see in the picture in the url above, towards to the right edge of the screen the problem is much lighter or doesn't happen.
If someone can help, that would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks,
Fabio
I'm getting this problem too. I get TERRIBLE shakiness when i hold finger input especially in google maps.
I highly doubt it's a hardware issue because this only started happening to me ever since i installed the italian gingerbread rom.
This this GB rom giving anyone else the same issue?
Same problem here
I am also having the same problem, installed an application called "Touchscreen Booster" but no avail.
Strange thing is that the problem seems to not happen on Youtube application.
I also have GB 2.3.3, in my case, the overcome room 2.0.0
One possible solution
Did you guys check the url I've sent? (fgfaria.com)?
Is your problem just like mine? In my case, I had the problem since Froyo 2.2, and still have it (the same way, no change) after an update to 2.2.1.
My GT is not rooted, and I'm waiting for gingerbread to be made available through Kies in Brazil to proceed with the update.
Another interesting thing is that most touch test apps behave normally (no shakiness).
Possible good news: I've found an app in the Market called "ILITEK Touch Utility".
Unfortunately I couldn't use it in my GT as it appears to require the device to be rooted. But it has several features from calibration to screen software reset. Hopefully this may help, specially as it seems to be a software issue.
Let me know if this works for you.
Regards,
Fabio
mine does EXACTLY the same thing as per your website.
the app does not seem to fix anything...
sigh...
at least good to know someone else is experiencing the same problem.
The problem is app specific
Hi all,
In addition to touch test apps and youtube app, there are some other apps that don't present the problem. One specific interesting case is the one of the HelloListView tutorial presented in Android Developers website.
I've followed the tutorial, and created this illustrative app that just creates a list and allows you to scroll up and down. This specific app doesn't present the problem we've been discussing. I've made it available for download as apk file in the end of that same testing page (fgfaria.com)
That application being so simple and not presenting the problem, and the other apps that also don't present it, makes me think that the problem may appear when some specific library gets included in an app. Possibly something related to hardware acceleration, for example (just guessing, no specific reasons to believe that).
If only we could isolate the cause of the problem, we could notify Google and/or Samsung and influence a new patch release.
This is as far as I have gone so far. Ideas, reactions?
Regards,
Fabio
Or the libraries being used in this tutorial include some kind of filter not used in problematic apps...
I posted about the same problem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096698
I've included pics from my tests. Notice how before I installed the custom rom, the lines were perfectly smooth. This definitely has something to do with the software. We need to have one of the rom devs look at this and find out what might be the cause.

hi grukko, thanks for your comment!
To me, the most intriguing part is that the behavior happens in some apps, and not in other. I have done a very similar test, which I've published in the address http://fgfaria.com
As you see in the thread, the problem doesn't happen in youtube app, and screen touch test apps and in the list tutorial app I've created following instructions in Android Developers website.
Can you check if your problem is the same checking if youtube doesn't "shake"?
Thanks!
Fabio

Your test results look similar to mine. I just tried youtube and it does not shake.
New discovery:
It may be a hardware problem (at least in my case). A friend, in another forum noticed that the jittering only happens in screens with a light background, specially white.
This can be quickly tested, by opening a web page that has a white and a black part. Zooming in the white part (so that all background you see is white) and keeping the finger still, the screen starts shaking. If you move to the black part, zoom and keep you finger still, no shake at all.
Regards,
Fabio
Anyone? There is a solution for Galaxy S (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844216&page=3#). There must be a solution for Galaxy Tab 7 too...
Touch screen issues
Count me as another member of the shaky touch screen club! Anyone found a resolution yet?
No luck yet. Official upgrade to Gingerbread is not yet available in Brazil. I'm waiting for this upgrade to check if things get better, but I'm not so optmistic, as I've seen reports from many people to whom the problem actually started after the upgrade. Does anyone know if the problem has already been officially reported to Samsung?
Nope. Not mine, the tab working flawlessly

Hello xda,
After a few weeks with my rooted nook touch, I have come to realize how annoying the DRAG TO UNLOCK screen is. Is there any way to skip this and go straight from screensaver to homescreen/book/whatever-you-were-doing? Already scoured the google and this forum and can't find anything.
Thanks in advanced!
yeah, that would be nice if the lockscreen/screensaver could be completely disabled!
I use No Lock by BoD http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.jraf.android.nolock It has a widget for toggling the lockscreen too. I use it on all my android devices that don't have a rom with it built in. I wasn't sure if it would work with the nook touch but it works like a charm. I'd be nice to have a custom rom for the touch that has it built in. Maybe if cm7 gets running on it.

The problem of this utility is that it's always running as service and take some resources.
If I kill it from services keylock starting to work.
Think must be another ways - smth like disable lock in sys settings via adb.
If you're rooted with nook manager just use the nook touch mod manager and under the configure mod option you can disable the drag to unlock and also have a customized banner with your name and number below.

I know this is an old thread, and the Nook Touch Mod Manager fix DOES work if you have it installed, but as someone who just recently re-enabled the two part unlock, let me just mention that it is actually a useful feature. I don't know how many times I have pulled my Nook out to a random page, or random menu selection because the button got bumped whole it was in my pocket. Luckily, no random changes happened that were irreversible. It would really have sucked if I had managed to out it in black text on a black background, for example, and knowing my luck, it's amazing that I didn't.
So that's my two cents' worth. You can disable it, but it is actually quite useful, and speaking from experience, I recommend against doing it.
I have made a version of the Kindle app that is more optimised for the Nook eInk readers. It allows page turns via the volume keys (which can be configured using Nook Touch Mod Manager) and the page turn animations are also disabled.
Download - http://www.modaco.com/topic/362441-modified-kindle-app-optimised-for-eink-nooks/

Thanks, Paul. I'm using it at the moment and it seems good. Haven't bothered remapping the buttons though - I find they're quite stiff and difficult to press compared to just taking on the screen.
Have you noticed how it refreshes the page every turn though, rather than every six like on the built in reader? It's a bit jarring. I'm wondering if anything can be done about that. I might start just downloading my kindle books as epubs and using the built in reader.
thanks for this, its just what I needed!

Seems OK here - I get a load balancing download link which asks me for a capatcha...
Thanks, I tried again and downloaded it ok. For some reason when I click on the link in Opera I got a blocked pop up message that when I opened just produced a blank page. I also got another tab that redirected to random spammy sites.
I have just tried in rekonq and it opened a captcha and dowloaded without any problem.
Hi!
Does this version support send-to-kindle email? I've installed it succesfully, I see it in my devices on manageyourkindle page, but it doesn't have a send-to-kindle email
NST is 1.2.1 fw, rooted with NookManager.
Could you explain how you disabled the page turn animations? I would like to implement this in a Xposed module, so one no longer has to modify the APK.
Thanks in advance!
I installed this (before the regular kindle) and the page turn buttons only work in the menus of the app, not the book itself. I see you mention "Nook Touch Mod Manager", which I dont see on my list of available apps (I used touchnooter package).
Is there a setting or something I am missing?

NTMM comes with rooting via Nook Manager. I just finished a book on the Kindle app and exclusively used a light touch on the right side of the screen to change pages. That's how I do it in the stock reader as well. Saves wear and tear on the hardware buttons and requires less energy
But you gotta love it or do something different.
Hi dear XDA members. I would like to send my greetings to everyone for my first time here.
Please, I would like your help to the following problem with my Android tablet Chuiw Hi9Air.
Since yesterday afternoon, I have the following problem:
The bottom bar (the one that reside soft keys - I do not know if this bar has specific name), is not responding. It’s not only soft keys that do not work, but whole bar:from left to right. I think it is a specific bar, because, if someone with this tablet is on specific web pages or some specific applications, it can be seen the rectangle of this small bar. It must be a specific bottom bar. So, this small bottom bar, has stopped responding since yesterday.
I can see that, the full bar cannot work, and not only softkeys, also, from the following:
If I run YouTube, run a video on full screen, display video’s time bar, I cannot work on video’s time bar with my finger to go video back/forward. And this is because, on full screen, videos’ time bar is in the area of the not responding bottom bar.
Also, if I run YouTube videos on full screen, if I display on the bottom right corner the small icon of YouTube that turns video from full screen to Window, it also does not work, because this icon is on not responding area.
And from now on, other applications, that need this area, I won’t be able to work on them.
This not responding problem happened just suddenly. I was working on tablet yesterday afternoon, everything was working just perfect. I left the tablet, to go work on my pc, and after 2 hours, I went back to the tablet, and that’s it. Since then, the bar is not responding.
Also, if I display keyboard on e.g. chrome google search bar to write something, the back arrow that is converted to down arrow to disappear keyboard, cannot do anything because it's in the bar area.
Tablet is not crashed anywhere.
No update is made on any application.
So, please, could you help me with this problem?
For any other information that you would like to ask me to help for the solution, I am here.
Thank you for your reading and time,
John
