Earlier, I have been compiling InfamousAOKP, Paranoid Android, Carbon and PAC for the galaxy tab (P7510/p4wifi & P7500/p4) based on JellyBean 4.3. I now decided to move over to OMNI ROM as base: http://omnirom.org/
The nice thing of OMNI in my personal opinion is smoothness: it is relatively low in features, but at the same time it is not that resource hungry as some other ROMs. The end result is a smooth ROM.
It features the Infamous kernel (same kernel as for JB4.2, with SELinux).
First installation:
-Boot into recovery
-Factory reset
-Wipe system partition
-Install ROM
-Install Superuser
-Install gapps (you can download any gapps package you like, as long as it is specifically for JB4.3!)
-Boot it up
Update installation (OMNI -> OMNI):
-Boot into recovery
-Install ROM
-Install Superuser
-Boot it up

Known issues:
1. DashClock FC if trying to enter settings -> can be solved by deleting it from /system/apps followed by installing it from Google Play
2. ROM is not rooted by default -> you should flash SuperSU (can be downloaded from the links in post #1)
What can I say.... fantastic I luv this rom installed over first Omni followed instructions no problem at all..... dill

You would think that since Chainfire is part of team OMNI, the ROM would be rooted by default.
I've just read the xda portal news about OMNI, and I'm quite confused with people nowadays. I thought that all this time everyone liked cm, but it seems that they've now become the "bad guys" like Samsung and Google just because they've gone corporate and OMNI is the "hero" of the story. I probably don't understand all these because I'm a kid.

SuperSU from Chainfire will come into Omni by default from what I understand, it just hasn't happened yet.
I don't see it so black&white with CM. Yes, they have gone a more commercial route. Are they evil? No, I don't think so. The only disadvantage of a commercial model is that it may lead to unpleasant situations for people who contributed a lot to CM without getting anything in return. But I will personally not be deterred from using CM-source due to the CM Inc. thing.
The strong point of CM(-based) ROMs has always been the huge number of people contributing to CM, making it one of the most stable aftermarket ROMs. If you compare this to e.g. Carbon or PAC, which I have been building myself as well, the much lower number of developers and the lower number of officially supported devices by these ROMs, has often lead to less stable endproducts. I am very curious to see how this develops for CM in future, whether the large number of volunteer-developers will stick with CM or go somewhere else.
hey kasper_h, nice new build, good to see you busy and doing good work! I installed it on a 3G 7500, so far I've been having two problems besides the google TTS crash which seems to be a generic bug in 4.3, it crashes on storage settings and the USB-PC connection seems not to work as well, something related to "com.process.android.media"-something crashes and it just doesn't appear to be recognized at all on the PC side. USB on 4.3 roms worked tho.
P.S.: Love your work and dedication, thank you for doing this.

I agree with you. I don't really care about CM going commercial or whatever it is they want to do. I actually think that CM going commercial is a good thing because then the project will not stop. But it seems like there are quite a number of people hating on CM in the comments section here.

Hello everyone,
as the old KANG build that got posted here is very old I've decided to compile my own builds.
As many people demanded a newer build you can use mine.
Flashing this may brick your device and there is no support from either Cyanogen and his crew or me. You do this on your own responsibility.
This build is not final - it's more an alpha build. If you decide to use it you shouldn't care about bugs.
I'll keep posting updates every day (if there is any reason for it). There will be no guaranteed support and I won't add user-specific features for anyone.
This is not my work - it's mostly from Pershoot & Cyanogen. This build uses Pershoot's GitHub as base for the device.
If you like the builds you're welcome to donate for some Club Mate / Beer and new hardware.
Works:
WiFi works
No more SOD or display flickering
Buttery smooth
HQ Videoplayback
USB Transfer - use the MTP mode and stop complaining about ICS
Doesn't work:
Camera doesn't work
I will not provide detailed Changelogs. Read CM9 Gerrit ICS & P4Wifi for that.
You can find the official app in the Android Market for 1 ā¬:
https://market.android.com/details?id=de.messerschmidt.tabkang
It supports direct reboot (normal and into the recovery) and downloading the newest rom (incl. version-check) from my private FTP.

Installation:
Flash CWM if you've got none (I'm using the Overcome one)
Backup your current build
Wipe data
Flash my build
Flash the Gapps
Reboot (may take a few minutes)
Enjoy
USB MTP:
As some people requested me to do a little How-to for enabling MTP-mode:
Go into the settings
Choose storage
Tap the 3 dots in the upper right (menu)
Choose "USB computer connection"
Check "Media device (MTP)"
Done
Notice:
This is a pure Android rom and no Samsung rom. There won't be any unneeded additions like TouchWiz, My Files, or whatever.
Look in the Market for other/better apps if you're seriously missing something. I won't any additions/apps/whatever to this rom except I want to use it myself (not gonna happen).

Now that the flickering is fixed and SOD, I'd say it's well suited for daily use.
P.S. It also seems to be alot smoother, and you now get Terbuchet settings. Only thing missing for me is the camera.
is it safe to overinstall over DaAwesome1's ICS Kang, or must I wipe?

Basically a wipe shouldnt be needed. Test share your experience.
Does Netflix work? I'm this close to jumping on this.
This is just a whole new CM9 from the build posted earlier. The old build worked very smooth, as long as you didnt fill it with lots of user apps and widgets then it became very laggy. I have now restored all my apps 250+ and its still silky smooth, i have widgets with sync on several windows and app shortcuts and it still behaves as if it where just installed (empty). this sure gives hope for our tab. Go CM Team and thanks to OP for posting this build.
This build is an improvement over the prior kang, seems the CM team has been busy over the holidays. Smoother UI, screen flickers are gone, definite daily driver material. Will report back if I run into any problems.
Please note! Due to certain issues, as of 08/26 I have moved on to the official CM10. If time permits, I'll update this OP, but not making promises.
WARNING: This ROM probably still has intermittent emergency dialing issues. Do not use it for a daily driver when you're out or could need 911 or any emergency number. If you STILL choose to use it at those times, it's your own fault!

Build 08/20 is showing as available. I don't recommend dl'ing it as its caused many to have baseband issues. I've contacted Der to look into this, which I'm sure he will when time permits.
(08/17)New build available.
This is md5 sum:
cd703c25d560ce4c3d33cbfcab724427
Changes:
- compiled from latest sources, but still using /datadata (going to be change probably soon)
- renamed the two navbar menus
- added Facebook sync (you have to install Facebook app before)
- added i9000b to supported devices
- (hopefully) fixed modem/baseband issue
- added possibility to install devil kernel apps to installer
- fixed mms for showcase
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/Helly_Bean/rom/
Wipe not needed if flashing from a previous version, but is highly recommended. Be sure to flash the add-on also.
TF here.....I found, as often is the case, I had to flash the ROM and let it boot up, then go back in and flash the add-on. After that.....golden!
(08/15)New test build up now.
Why test build?
- Because I have added two new devices, for which I don't know if it is working well for them
- I have fixed the navbar not appearing, but now there a two menus in system which both are named the same. One is for enabling, the other for customization. I am working at integrating the two into one menu, but I did not get it yet.
- ffc support for Vibrant
Install process has not changed, but if you are coming from another ROM/kernel than mine, you should create a folder devil at your sdcard, place a file named device into it, and write your device name in it, valid names are:
i9000
cappy
vibrant
fascinate
mesmerize
showcase
users of mesmerize and showcase have to do this!
Other changes:
If devil app(s) are not installed, the menu is not displayed under system settings (many thanks to phillbring for coding me this).
md5sum is: 3b11a106529f10236d2e6139416bc346
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/test/
Wipe not needed if flashing from a previous version, but is highly recommended. Be sure to flash the add-on also.
From TF: I love the Cid theme from Annex, but flashing his most recent version sent me into bootloops. I'm assuming he will update as soon as he has a chance.
(08/13) New instructions for flashing. Wipe not needed if flashing from a previous version, but is recommended. Be sure to flash the add-on also.
The files can be found at:
http://rootaxbox.no-ip.org/derteufel/Helly_Bean/
Install instructions:[/SIZE]
Coming from any other rom:
- make sure to have gingerbread bootloaders. (Remember, Google is your friend)
- wipe data/factory reset
- flash allinone.zip
- reboot recovery
- flash allinone.zip again
- flash Helly_Bean_AddOn or Helly_Bean inverted AddOn
coming from previous version:
- flash allinone.zip
- flash Helly_Bean_AddOn or Helly_Bean inverted AddOn
Attention: this is still a test. Don't flash it if you don't know what you are doing/how to get back!
For a new feature cherry-picked last night, go to settings --> system

You can find the official website for this project here (I don't maintain the site myself, if there is anything website related to ask, please use the contact info from the web site):
http://hellybean.site11.com/download.html
You'll find download links and faq on this site.
The usual back-up, complete wipe (if this is the first time flashing this ROM), flashing of files and fix permissions applies.
***********
One thing I noticed is that if you follow the normal flash procedure, it can bootloop, or at least appears as though it is. One way to fix that is to flash the ROM only and boot up you phone. Then go back into recovery and flash the add-on. That has worked every time it happened to me.
You can find the changelog here:
http://hellybean.site11.com/changelogg.html
For mirrors, please take a look at the thread. if you don't find any, just ask in the thread.
I really didn't want to mention this, but lack of experience by some members seems to require it:
If you are unsure of ANYTHING that goes with flashing a ROM, do research first. If you honestly can't find the answer, ask questions. We are not responsible for any action that happens to your phone.

Now, from TFordham (you can just call me TF):
I've been using this ROM for some time now, and really happy with it. Personally, I think this is the best JB ROM out there. I find it very smooth, and for an early release, quite stable.
I do want to point out that I'm not a dev at all. The Helly Bean ROM is from DerTeufel1980 and his team. I put this up since his ROM is being mentioned in another ROM forum, but figured it might as well have its own home
Something else I want to be clear about is that I have no technical knowledge on creating ROMs, kernels or other things of this nature. I simply wanted to let other Vibrant owners know this ROM is out there. This fantastic XDA community is the place to ask, as there are plenty who know FAR more than I. In addition, DerTeufel1980 is active in this forum, ago if there are issues, he will help address them. While I appreciate the "thanks" button being hit, it is his comments in this thread that should be thanked.

HellyBean 0801 is definitely the fastest JB ROM for the Vibrant because of the included Devil 1.1.0 kernel and the use of the faster datadata partition. All Vibrant users should donate to Derteufel1980 for his amazing kernel and now ROM support. He is the only ICS/JB kernel developer we have right now so we must treat him right.
How does this differ from the CM10 v8? Other than the kernel of course.

Keeping in mind I'm far from the most tech savvy flasher out there, like I mentioned, I don't see a huge difference in most of the JB ROMs. I just happen to like this one a lot. Others may be able to get into far more detail on why it's good compared to other (or vice versa, for that matter, if they feel that's the case).

I think that DerTeufel has to be the OP.
Did you ask him before put this?
Are you able to answer questions about Kernel, ROM, Modems, UV, NL etc?
Update the proper content of our device?
This is why the "leader team" or the Dev has to be the OP.
Not trolling, just saying: If we want a better Topic it has to be created by DerTeufel.

Can someone quickly summarize how to get here from Stock? I had done it a long time ago to the ics roms and can't do it again... I"m missing some major step.
So far:
heimdall to stock
root update.zip
install rommanager and then cwm install and re-boot to flash update.zip -> cwm recovery.
Flash this rom
-> results in boot loop.
What am I missing?

Can someone quickly summarize how to get here from Stock? I had done it a long time ago to the ics roms and can't do it again... I"m missing some major step.
So far:
heimdall to stock
root update.zip
install rommanager and then cwm install and re-boot to flash update.zip -> cwm recovery.
Flash this rom
-> results in boot loop.

My experience from going all the way back to stock is that I had to flash a Gingerbread ROM first, then wipe that and install a later ROM (ICS, JB).

I don't know about anyone else, but I've been enjoying these CM11 nightly updates only requiring me to download and flash a 10mb-15mb file to get me to the latest nightly. ?
There is a third party app called CyanDelta and it gives us custom ROM end users an OTA-like experience. Sad thing is, this will only work on official ROMs from CyanogenMod.
OmniROM is using the Delta method as well to update their users, it's built into their ROM.
I'm not sure how difficult it would be to enable your ROM to be compatible with CyanDelta, but the developer states to contact him if you're interested.
This method saves time and bandwidth, especially for people using their limited data connection.

Yes No doubt it will help a lot..
I am huge fan of Omni and Purity.. Omni being in developing stage(Feature wise) I am on Puirty.. Hope @DariosF includes this awesome feature..
I've always been with this idea ever since i started flashing ROMs, and update them... having a slow connection speed is a very irritating thing when it comes to downloading gapps and ROMs. especially ROMs with OEM skins like sense and touchwiz which come in at about 600+MB

I think this may be the rom that will hit over the 3k barrier. at the moment hitting constant 29XX mark in quadrant even with first 3D test staying on avg between 40-60FPS, 38-44FPS 2nd 3D and 23-25FPS on last 3D.
My Setup
Gapps: Banks Min 4.4 7/29/14 build
Runtime: Art
CPU Freq: 1.4Ghz 1.2mV
Govener: Ondemand
I/O Sch: SiO
Additional Tweaks
Malive Booster v2.0
Flashable Seeder by ryu found in seeder op
Hyper Cola v1.6
Once again , Thanks @jfbs for another treat.
To others who are curious, this rom is stacked feature wise, responsive and impressive
Flashed this earlier today and I agree with @det0xx, this ROM has some great customization features and is very responsive!
I've only noticed a few bugs here and there (long pressing location tile doesn't navigate to location menu, needed to re-check and then un-check to disable flip tile effect, unable to remove torch tile), but nothing major. Overall, this is one impressive ROM! Great job @jfbs!
One bug I have is the lockscreen wallpaper disappears and stays black. Did a fresh install, not a major issue, just wanted to report it. Thanks for the rom, really nice.

odd i haven't got that issue or at least not yet. Mind giving more feedback as to
Gapps used/using: List all the ones you have tried only that has this issue. CM, PA, Banks, and/or etc. vers such as 4.4.2 -.4 and build date.
Theme: default or 3rd party if 3rd party link or name of theme
Wallpaper: used gallery or 3rd party app to set it.
Runtime: Art or dalvik
Gapps: banks standard 4.4.4 7-24 build, standard theme. Wallpaper set through gallery, dalvik runtime. The problem seems to come and go. I'm not really concerned with it as at the moment I'm using this device as a media player. If nobody else is having the issue maybe I messed something up when adjusting my settings. When I have the chance I will see if I can sort it out.

Sorry for the delayed reply been tweaking to hit a constant and stable 3k benchmark. at 2950-98 atm for constant and stable. i've hit 3k just recently however phone becomes unstable. if your phone can handle 1.5ghz oc without problems then the 3k is already possible but battery life i'd assume would drop quite a bit. i've also hit unstable 3k using 1.4ghz and tweaking some settings but haven't messed with it much yet. anyways as far as your issue. yeah it has me stumped without physically seeing everything. If your not worried about and at least to my knowledge no one else is having the same issue. let us know if you do figure out what it is that is causing it.
I got my issue resolved. I'm not sure what caused it, but I fixed it by re-flashing the rom.

prolly just flashed without wiping davlik and not 1 zip at a time per a reboot.
I used this ROM on my s4, it is a really nice ROM. Think I will pull out the exhibit and give it a try.
Well this rom is awesome.
And I finally figured out what I did wrong when trying jfbs's roms. It turns out I was not always loading just one zip at a time, and not leaving it alone long enough after booting the rom.
This time I left it be but with the settings screen on and CPU overlay enabled in developer options so I could tell when it finally stopped thrashing the IO subsystem in the phone (over 90% usage in the overlay, showed blue for a good 20 minutes).
So far so good! Been running it now for a day and no major issues.
Though one niggling thing is no way to adjust the hard buttons back light. I prefer to have it always on with the screen instead of timing out after 5 seconds.

if you really want to get the most follow my oc guide in general op. Note battery life decreases past stock voltage. however higher frequency does not. i would also recommend waiting til you try the phone for a little bit before overclocking. however if you want better battery life and lower cpu temps now without sacrificing performance you can always undervolt the cpu for stock frequency. Stock if i remember correctly is 1ghz at 1.2mV i know almost if not everyone using the galaxy w (which is where most of our stuff comes from) can run 1ghz at 1.1mV as far as i know all our exhibits can as well. I could be wrong but at least from others and my own experience 1.1mV works flawlessly for 1ghz. as far as flashing a kernel to do it with jfbs roms you dont need to flash anything with cars1198's roms you do. Also i would not recommend starting at 1.1mV as a starting point.
EDIT: @jfbs so been running this rom for some time now and i can honestly say this beats AOIP by a long shot now. rock solid, still constant 29xx .8%hr sleep, 24%hr (max 4hr15mins) at stress test usage oc'd at 1.4ghz @ 1.2mV. No rom/kernel sided bugs encountered.
I have had a DT since launch and I have had a custom ROM on for quite a while and upon using Android N (through crDroid) I found an extreme amount of forced reboots, I was wondering what causes them as I would love to join the ranks of the 1%ers who use android N across all platforms.
Obviously saying "it doesn't work please fix" is not going to get me anywhere so ill throw my pride out the window and accept any and all assistance if yall would be so kind.

crDroid is notorious for that. Try any of the other 7.1 roms that are out there. I installed AOKP 2 days ago and it hasn't rebooted yet. Battery life is awesome too.
ok. Ill try out aokp as that is what I used in 6.0.1 Thanks!

Just to give you an update, I just removed AOKP because whenever I try to make a call through a Bluetooth device (like my car's hands free system), it completely messes up the phone and eventually force reboots. These roms are based on early versions of CM14.1 (we don't even have official CM14.1 builds yet) so some bugs are to be expected, but they're all being updated very regularly so I expect that they will be virtually bug free in a no time. Just keep trying them until you find one that works for you.

Also @calsurferpunk just re-synced his "unofficial" CM14 to RR's builds to hope to get that stability. Previously he was uing crDroids database (or whatever). His unofficial CM14 builds are a hybrid of more bare bones CM and everything-including-the-kitchen sink tweaks of custom ROMs. His builds have the more popular tweaks, like being able to download Moto apps and a couple more, but are not change-everything ROMs.

I just posted an updated build. I'm using repos from RR instead of crDroid (still configured to be stock CM 14.1) and the "stock" kernel from 2bhb27. Hopefully this fixes the instability issues. You should go over and thank him as well for all of his hard work

I really appreciate your assistance with this mate. I remember back when we had mofo and your only option was basically build an image yourself or take whatever one guy was developing. I'm really thankful we have evolved no thanks to the developers like chainfire and all the wonderful people who still care for our 3900mah mini Nexus 6... Or at least close enough
Edit: I will try out CM14.1 Unofficial for a day and see how that goes. I really want to stay away from "kitchen sink" roms because of the restarts. Thanks again for your help
