Hi folks,
Way back when, when I first got the RAZR i, I installed omar's ROM. Very pleased with the way it ran. However now, some 6 months later, I cannot install his updated ROM (RazRi_JB_X-M8-NoBT2). And it has me baffled! I do a factory wipe, reformatted: data, cache, dalvik and system and install via CWM. And it bootloops consistently. I have to install stock ROM via RSD-lite, then re-root etc. And tried again several times, same result. JellyAOSP does the same (based on Omar's ROM AFAIK), but Pi=Llama's ROM installs...but can' be used as something is screwy with the WiFi with this ROM for me.
Can some kind soul tell me what I may have overlooked, as I am certain I follow the correct procedure as I did ages ago, but I am screwing up somewhere!
I know I should post this under Omar's thread....but I don't have enough posts to use it.
Thanks in advance
Coxie

Hi. I rooted my sister's Galaxy S i9000, using the same methods I used mine (Odin, same kernels, etc.). Don't remember exactly which.
Problem is, her phone CONSTANTLY force closes everything (messaging, google services, browser, almost EVERY app).
And I mean, that's after wiping data, reinstalling the ROM. It happened on several mods: ICS MR1, MIUI v3, PilotX, CM7/9. Always. After one or two days of usage, she had to wipe everything. Even without restoring faulty apps or something like that, it would only take around 2-3 days for her to need to redo everything.
Now, I'm lost and I can't find what to do. Will changing partitions, kernels, anything like that help? What should I use? Any idea as to why this happens?
Note my phone was rooted and is running exactly the same kernel/software, but this never happens to me. I don't know what to do! Help! She's super pissed at me and she can't get any tech support because we voided the warranty by rooting.
Please I'm lost ):
Thanks in advance for any help!
First of all, I recommend to you that you flash again a clean stock rom (no mods, no custom kernels, just a stock rom). I know it's awful but it's for trying purposes.
If after 2 days it's still happening maybe it's time to install a kernel and format /system, /data and /cache directly. Else try installing CM9 latest nightly and keep it 2 days again
I think it's problem with the installation, but I can't be more helpful than now.
Tell us if problem is solved with this.

I'm not sure reinstalling Stock would work. Also it would give me two problems: I can't (already tried) finding a Stock i9000 ROM & Kernel with Hebrew available as a locale (my sister is 14. She knows ok English but I can't keep her with it on her phone for too long), as pre ICS did not have Hebrew built-in.
Two, I'm in the army and I have little time to be at home, meaning if this doesn't work she'll be forced to use that ROM for about two weeks minimum. I'm really hoping I could partition better or something like that which might be more dependable and a more valid, "trusted" solution..
I will keep this an option though, if I find no other solution before I get home, thanks!
Mmm... Well... There is a few roms with hebrew, I think. Here is one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189676
You might try to flash it... It's the latest gingerbread released by Samsung with a lot of mods... I couldn't find any stock rom with hebrew support, I apologize.
Let me know if it works or not. Maybe I can still help you...
I need some professional debugging help. I haven't been able to find a solution to my issue and I have been searching and trying different things for weeks. My wife received an ATT&T Captivate second hand. Everything seemed to work fine for a couple of weeks. Installed Pudding Camera and camera started having issued. Uninstalled, but issues remained. Eventually camera stopped working. I have rooted other phones, so I took this as an opportunity to start fresh. Have installed multiple ROMs and done multiple Roots and Unroots trying to figure out the problem. I even replaced the camera, but cannot catch a break on this one.
From the logs it seems the camera is already busy. I have tried every camera patch I could find, along with the ROMs with which they are supposed to work. I am at my wits end and could really use some help/perspective/ideas.
Here are the steps I have done multiple times and in almost every order I can image.
Flashed factory Eclair using Odin-
Flashed factory Froyo using Odin-
Flashed factory GB using Odin-
Flashed factory JB using Odin-
Flashed CM10 using CWM Recovery
Flashed Captivating using CWM Recovery
Flashed Xperia (sp) using CWM Recovery
Have used various kernels, Semaphore, Devil, etc
Have used various gapps required for each version
Have wiped Dalvik, factory reset/wipe cache, fixed permissions in every order I can imagine
Have rebooted in between installs and reinstalled ROMs
I really love the challenge of figuring this stuff out, but I just don't have the knowledge to move forward. I am beaten.
Suggestions?
Hello guys,
I have a samsung gt-i9000 with cyanogen 10.1.3 and a few days ago I had experienced some problems, the home button stopped working. I tried quite a few things, based on the info I found on this site and others (like factory reset), but no joy.
SO I thought to myself, better reflash the ROM, but to be honest, if I do that, I might as well install the latest one (10.2.1), and so I decided to do that, but before I start I have a few questions:
I had a look around but I couldn't really find a definite answer to the following questions, so I thought I might post here.
1)Has anybody encountered any issue on the gt-i9000 with the latest ROM?
2)Can I backup all my apps, upgrade the ROM and then reinstall everything from the backup, rather than downloadeing all the apps again? I have never done that before, so I am not sure if it is possible
3)I had a look at the cyanogen mode site and found the relevant info http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_galaxysmtd, but I was wondering something: occasionally on my phone a message appears
and asks me whether I want to update the ROM to the latest available one. I have always dismissed that, but I am thinking, can I do the upgrade from there without going through the trouble of reflashing
it (following the instructions above), or is it essentially the same thing?
4)In the instructions it says "The install guide assumes the Galaxy S is running Android 2.3.". Now, last time I have upgraded - from cyanogen 7 to 10.1 - I attempted to install directly 10 over 7 and things
went horrible wrong. I then reflashed the ROM to 2.3 and then installed cyanogen 10.1 and it was OK. DO I have to do the same thing again and install 2.3. first and then 10.2? If so where do I get 2.3 from?
Thanks
Sorry, can somebody move this under questions, just realized that this isn't the right place.

1) Didn't use CM, been on OmniROM
2) You can use Titanium Backup
3)Yeah, you could do that, update it via CMUpdater
4)Just before you install a ROM with a higher android Version, always wipe /system partition.
cool thanks!
Hi guys,
I have just started playing with my GSG3 lte after upgrading from a SGS1 that I rooted and put a cg7 rom on it. That was many years ago and I am just relearning how to get along with it all again.
I have managed to get CWM on it (and to stay there!!!) and have superSU on as well. I am trying to flash this kernel mentioned in the title but every time it does not stick. The old kernel remains.
I have tried clearing the cache and that dilyic cashe (or what ever it is) then flashing but to no avail. I have read the entire thread but came across nothing that helps. Do you guys have any info or ideas I can try? The phone is running the stock rom.
Here is the thread for the kernel i am trying to flash.
Android 4.3.0 AGNi pureSTOCK v3.8 NA2+
Flashing by getting into CWM, choosing the clear cache options and then flashing from the sd card.
Thanks for any help you guys may have!
Spaz.
What is your ROM base? I had the same problem until I flashed a ROM with an NA2 or greater base, then it worked fine. My suggestion, is to use Amcha's ROM.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
I've been running the kernel along with xxueml9 firmware, so no <NA2 fw neccessary.
do you have latest CWM? as there are numerous posts about problems while flashing new roms/files using old recoveries
in case of problems with that I'd advise using skipsoft utility and let it find the newest compatible recovery image and let you guide through the flashing process
Ok, looks like i am running the xxuena2 rom???? It is the standard software that came with the phone. CWM version is v5.5.0.4 : CF- v1.5
It was sorted out by updating the CWM to latest version.
Thanks guys for the replys and help.
Hi, I haven't find a post with this very same problem in a N7000 phone.
Like 2 years ago I had a problem with my Note, a friend helped me and that ended up in Rooting and ParanoidAndroid 2.x.
A few weeks ago I started feeling my phone quite slow, thought it was time for a fresh start.
I downloaded the latest ParanoidAndroid, 4.x, and tried to flash it using CWM and it failed, error status 7. So I tried with 2 or 3 more roms, same luck. So I started to look for this status 7 error. Found out that I could edit the file rom/meta-inf/com/google/android/updater-script to alter the assert lines. That didn't work either.
After reading a bit more I found out about twrp, lots of users had this very same problem and twrp had solved it for them. Well, that was frustrating, there wasn't any official release for the n7000 phone. I had found a post explaining how to compile it from a linux machine, post creator's posted an .img file but just as an example, it was outdated and I don't have a linux machine here with me nor the knowledge to feel confidence on compiling.
After trying some .tar.md5 flashes with ODIN, I got frustrated 'cause they were all working. But those roms are the least, most of the new ones (P.A. included, the one I got to fall in love with), come in .zip format. So, last try, started looking for some PA ROMs in .zip format. Again, no luck.
So, I'm running out of options. I was peacefuly hoping you could guide me in the right direction. I'm no guru but after reading for 2 straight days I think I'd be able to follow any sort of steps you'd suggest to me. I honestly feel confident enough to solve this issue.
Looking forward to your input people, I'm sure you're all more versed than me in the matter!
Thanks.
The rom you are trying to flash is a kitkat rom. To flash you will need newer version of cwm or twrp recovery. As recovery is merged with kernel in note, it's not possible to update without changing the kernel. So from your current pa recovery, flash raw r4 kernel. After that reboot into recovery. This should update the Cwm recovery to 6.0.4+. Now wipe data and cache and flash the new rom.
