Miscellaneous notes:
I have no idea if the version that's going on sale via Emobile middle of the month has a different software image than the one sold in Play Store.
Went out to Akihabara today, from one end to the other. Not a single Nexus 5 case to be found.
On Docomo at least, no Google Wallet.
Trivial to get running on Docomo if you've already got an Xi contract with 3FF SIM:
1. Go to www.mydocomo.com, log in with your mobile number and password
a. sign up for moperaU service (6 months free, after 6 months you'll want to change it to moperaU light)
b. cancel your sp-mode service (save 315 yen/mo for those 6 months)
2. Put the SIM in the Nexus 5 and power it on
Done.
Detailed rundown for those with weak japanese-fu at http://www.aeug.org/drupal/node/22
There are issues with bmobile 3G SIMs. The answer may be a reissue with LTE SIM and a change of plan, to the tune of over 5000 yen in extra charges plus the loss of the legacy voice plans, which come with a call allowance, unlike the plans for the LTE SIMs.
Sir where did you get or bought the google nexus 5? It is already available at akihabara? Please reply thanks in advance

You can buy it at google play store. I went to akiba yesterday but still not found.
I've confirmed with JCI that Bmobile 3G users are screwed, ones with voice service particularly so.
3150 yen SIM reissue charge
2100 yen plan change charge
loss of the 1000 yen/mo voice communication allowance on an ongoing basis
If you are on a Bmobile 3G plan and want to not get anally violated without even a courtesy reacharound, don't get a Nexus 5. Or get one and MNP to someone else and complain loudly to JCI as you are walking out the door.
Guys if there is available google nexus 5 at akihabara in japan please post it here thanks in advance and about ordering on google store I'm not always at home and no one will pick it up if I'm on my work that's why I cannot order it from them and if I cannot pick it up they will leave it out your door that is also the reason the package or my order will lost...

staff at Bic camera told me that Nexus 5 will be available next fri.(15 Nov.)
Just checking in as I'm also here in Japan and using the B-mobile Sumaho LTE plan (I was already using it on my Nexus 4 so I had no changeover problems).
I checked out Akiba and couldn't find any cases either. Hope they get some soon! I ordered my phone via the Play Store first day and it was delivered yesterday.
Everything works as advertised and the B-mobile APNs were already in the phone. I just had to select the Sumaho LTE APN and it worked immediately.
Cheers!

There were a few cases available on amazon.co.jp, but all went out of stock by thursday. I ordered the last one of two different styles and one of them should be arriving today.
There should be no shortage by next friday when emobile starts selling them.

Sir, where did you get nexus5 ? Can I get 32G one from bic camera?
Nexus 5 is only available via 2 sources in Japan unless things have changed:
Contract free via Play Store
2 year contract required via Emobile (16gb only) - The contract terms on the N5 are actually pretty good unlike many carrier plans.
If someone is telling you Bic/Yodobashi, its from the Emobile carrier store inside the store and will require a contract.
Did some field research today.
The handsets Emobile have out on display have the same radio, kernel and build number as Play Store units.
This strongly suggests (but is not 100% evidence) that Emobile handsets have no alteration from stock.

I got 2 at Yodobashi for myself and my wife, we haggled it down to 40,000 for the pair. As far as I can tell, it's 100% stock.
Anyway, I'm looking to put a custom rom on it so I can re-arrange the soft keys, but I don't know where to get the APN settings for the e-mobile sim card.
Anyone know where to get this?
Cheers

Eh, Northern Nevada reporting. The T-Mobile stores I've been to seem to have a "never will carry Nexus 4 in stock since the market is so niche and people had complaints with the last 3-4 AOSP phones prior" policy. Makes me sad how cruel retailers can be.

I think the website is out of stock or they are for employe's. I bought mine at 3am on the 14th as a employee for $170. Everything right now on our internal site says that employe's will not be able to buy it until after Jan 1st 2013. Most of the time the stores get stock back before the website. So i am sure the stores will start to get more in the coming weeks. For sure the higher volume stores will. You can call Care and see if they can sell you one over the phone but they will not sell one off contract on the phone. Care only deals with contract stuff. You have to buy one in the store if you do not want a contract.

After looking at that link above I just realized one of the leaked pictures was actually from Malaysia.
Now I wonder if it'll be released in my country (Indonesia) as well. I may be hoping but I'm not hoping much at all. Indonesia is like one of the least "Google-cared" country. We get new devices so late it's not even new anymore.
Then again it might be our retail shops / carriers that just went full retard and think "Meh, who the hell buys Nexus in this country anyway? Why should we rush to get this phone in?"
Damn it
I might get one from Singapore if it was released there, though. Should there be any problems warranty is much easier to process (I fly back and forth every few months).
I asked singtel on their fb page. Their response:
Dear Jeremy, thank you for your interest. Do keep a look-out! Please be assured that we will keep you informed once we have an update. Thanks
"do keep a look out" sounds rather promising, but I'm only cautiously optimistic

But I'm not gonna buy w contract though. Seems like I'm the only one amongst my friends w 12gb data cap.. And I'm not gonna give that away. Starhub 3g is fast enough
If its released in Malaysia then all the more better. Just a drive/ride across 2nd link or causeway

I am also in SG. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a 12GB contract on LTE. Singapore telcoms just followed suit with the USA and went for the massive cash grab known as metered billing.
I think that it's wrong to go from 12GB to 2GB of data while keeping the price the same. The price per month should have been lowered according to the data offered.
You have to admit though we are still paying a lot less than people in the USA. (http://www.androidcentral.com/us-mobile-data-prices-among-most-expensive-world)
My plan:
120 (outgoing mins)
600 SMS
2GB data
$39SGD (31.40 USD) per month
I have a friend that lives in the UK. I will be getting him to order me a white 32GB so that I can take advantage of LTE.
Just a heads up for those worrying, today my Nexus 5 and SIM card both arrived. I got the black 32gb version. I also was able to order a SIM card from sprint worldwide. I attempted to activate it through the website, but was prompted to use the chat option. The person with whom I spoke on chat asked for an ein/esn, and a sim number. I provided the mied and number for my new sim card. I then turned my phone back on, and viola, LTE and voice both work perfectly.
So don't be discouraged if you ordered a 32gb black Nexus 5 and have a brand new sim card.
Do they still charge $87/month even though you bought a phone outright?

I wouldn't be to worried, Sprint Memo sent out to their stores. Everything will work out eventually hopefully on the 8th when the 16GB version is launched on Sprint.
INFORMATIONAL
Nexus 5 By Google
Sprint and LG Electronics USA announced Nexus 5 from Google will be available from Sprint beginning Friday, 11-8-13, for $149.99 (16GB version) after a $50 mail-in rebate via reward card with a new line or eligible upgrade and two-year service agreement or $18.75 per month with Sprint One Up (excluding taxes).
The Nexus 5 will be available in all sales channels, including Sprint Stores, Web Sales and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1). Customers can pre-order the device beginning Friday, 11-1-13, by visiting www.sprint.com/nexus5.
The sleek, powerful new LG tri-band capable device featuring Android 4.4 will allow users to take advantage of Sprint Spark technology for improved 4G LTE speed and capacity
The full press release is available on Sprint.com.
Note: Google Play Stores and UICC Cards
Preferred Retailers with an ASC
Google Play stores will be selling 16GB & 32GB Google Nexus 5 in their stores.
These devices are un-kitted and require a Sprint 4G UICC card in order to activate Sprint service.
These ESN's will be recognized by Sprint.
Since stores may not have inventory of these UICC cards we are going to ship 5 4G UICC cards (SKU = 760492013536) at no charge to each Preferred Retailer with an ASC.
This will allow you to insert the card and activate the device for the customer.
All locations should expect these UICC cards to arrive by or before the 11-8-13 launch of the device.
Dealers with No ASC
Sprint suggests Dealers with no ASC to send these customers to Sprint Corporate Owned Stores or Preferred Retailer ASC locations.
Standard activation commissions apply.
Sprint will also have these available in Ingram soon for Dealers to purchase as needed.

There are a couple reasons
Like me, someone may be not up for a new contract yet so the only option is to buy outright.
Someone maybe at the end of their contract and want to go month to month which sprint will do if a customer doesn't renew the contract.
If i wasn't only a year into this contract i would probably go for the $50 version as long as it was the exact same phone.
Not sure if this has been mentioned here but the Sprint Nexus 5 Best Buy sells in the US can be had for Google Play prices. You just have to get the right rep. I went to a local Mobile store in a mall and the rep matched the Google Play price. They only have black 16 gig models but I got it for $370.99 out the door which is actually cheaper than the Play store since I did not have to pay shipping.
I am also sure that most should realize that it is an unlocked phone and works fine on AT&T and T-Mobile.
I'm going to have to hit up a local Best Buy, I think.

Only the mobile ones have the phone. I talked with the ones by me and they didn't even know what it was lol. Then I searched on their website and saw only their mobile stores (well at least in my area) carried the phone and it was for 450. I tried calling and no one answered and through emails they ignored me too. I might try calling again but I think I might just wait for my shipment to come in.

Try best buy.

Yeah looks like swappa+an unlock code would still be cheaper in most cases.

You should be able to sign up and just cancel if you have no other options. The fine print reads that if you are using the Electronic Installment Plan and you cancel then the remaining balance on the phone immediately becomes due. Does it say there are some other fees you incur if you cancel early?
I'm selling my Tmobile unlocked Note 4 ..Message me

Sooo just went to a T-Mobile store to buy a note outright to use on ATT but the sales person I got said they no longer allow buying the phone without at least a prepaid plan. Anyone else come across this?
Going to check out other retailers to see if I can get by without paying for 2 months of T-Mobile service on top of ATT :/

I'm always amazed by this lol, do you go in and say I just want a Note 4 or do you go tell them all your business?
I just think it depends on other factors, but idk I didn't have this issue but I heard others have.
I just told them i'm here to buy a Note I already had a plan. Activate a pay as you go for what $15 from Wal-Mart then go into store with the active line/account then they can't say no

My store asked no question, I think it's a combination of who's asking and whose selling. I don't say any more than I need too

+1. That is how I acquired my T-Mobile Note 4. Will eventually be putting up my "Excellent Condition" Verizon Note 4 as soon as the ETF get's billed and I either get it payed off via payments and/or my 6-8 week T-Mobile "debit" card comes to cover the costs. :good:
