Hey guys,
a friend of mine gave me his Optimus Black. Someone installed a bricked rom on it.
It has some absolutely strange behaviour, cause the Screen doesnt respond in any logical reason.
Sometimes i manage to unlock the screen, but i cant do anything cause the 'hardware'-buttons are not recognized either.
Due to non responsive hardware buttons, i'm unable to enter any kind of recovery...
Volume control does work.
Is there any way i could possibly do sth about this problem?
Will post Screenshots or Video of the Rom later.
Thanks in Advance
Hi, maybe you can use SmartFlash tool and flash a rooted gingerbread rom with a recovery and from there, do a complete wipe then flash a new custom rom. You can refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111771. Hope it helps.
Are you sure that the power button is working?
Try to push the battery cover next to the camera flash and press the power button at the same time.
If it works then its a hardware problem .
Seems like it is a Problem with The Touchscreen. Someone changed it and did something wrong, tgread can be closed

My Galaxy S:

Kernel: glitch v11 (also doesnt work with standard kernel)
Since today my homebutton isnt working correctly. It only works for getting into recovery and into download mode.
If i press it in the keytest in cwm recovery it isnt recognized, same when the phone is booted :-S
I reflashed the update with deleting the cache but that doesnt work D-:
Have you guys any idea? :-/
Thanks
Mario (sorry for my bad english *facepalm* ^^)

Does it work when the phone is booted normally?
No it doesnt.....
Should i send it to samsung? :-/

I'm sorry, but I think that's your only choice.. To me, it seems like a hardware-related malfunction..
Hmmm yes i think youre right.
I just tried to get into recovery only with volume up + turn on button... thats working
"
I will flash samsung original firmware, maybe it works ^^

If it does: great!
If it doesn't: RMA must be the way..
you have to send your phone to Samsung services it'll be best solution i think.
Dudeeee, what on earth man? RMA should only be treated as a last resort. Don't give up so easily. He hasn't even tried flashing back to stock roms.
He already said it works for getting into recovery and download mode, which indicates it's working to some degree.
OP, flash that stock firmware and tell us what happens.

If you read my post correctly, you'll notice that I've suggested to flash the stock-firmware _before_ sending it as a RMA to Samsung..

Again, read his post correctly - he was pressing "Volume Up" + "Power On" and did _not_ mention any press on the Home-button..

So how do you think he has access to recovery???.......He mentionned he was able to go into recovery mode, basically, the home button works.
I'm pretty sure it's a software related problem.
Go with the stock rom first and tell us the result.
Nope.
Im on stock rom now..
The home button is not working
I got into Download mode with Volume down and Turn-on-button
I havent touched the home button at all
Dont know why thats working ^^...
Tommorow im bringin it to the Shop for RMA
OR do you have some Ideas
It is as though your home button is stuck to "on".
I fear that the next step is to rma.

Do you find the inconsistency? No?
I'll help you out: at first, you paint me as a fool, because you're too blind to read my post correctly.
Just one post later, you suggest what I was suggesting since my first (or second, can't remember right now) post.
Result: read first, think second, think again, _then_ - and only then - post, but stay polite at _any_ time!
Had the exact same issue with the button working for booting into recovery and download mode.
Sorry to say this is hardware related and I hope your rma is accepted.
I took mine to the repair centre and they told be it is water damaged. I never dropped it in water though.
Also the home button is glued to the whole freaking screen. The samsung part comes as the whole lcd assembly with the buttons with it so I was quoted 245 dollars.
You can buy the button online but I digest you to have a look on YouTube for the dude that disassemble the phone. You will see how hard it is
By the way, my button stopped working for recovery as well although now of o press hard on it it does work (for booting and in the OS).
last but not least, you will learn how to use the phone without the home button
Good luck with the rma

Today when i use smartflash to flah a stock firmware to my lg optimus 2x everything went fine until the phones boots when it comes to the homescreen where u must setup your phone the problem is that the screen is not responding cant do anything
plz hlp me
Have you pull the battery and start again?

Yes and i have put all the eur stock firmware and its all the same my touch screen is no more touch
to be honest at least you are back to STOCK rom so you could send it back to the shop for warranty, if they ask what happen tell them you did a HARD RESET and nothing worked after that
Do the buttons work? power and the search etc???
did you try and flash the baseband and firmware at the same time?
Only the power and volume buttons work when the phone is on
Dont you think my digitizer is dead or anyting with the hardware?
i had this before... a reflash did the job. i actually thought my phone screen was dead. however im wasnt flashing official ones, i was on custom rom and i flash another custom rom and it worked. therefore your phone is probably fine if theres no problem before you flashed.
Can u explain me how u did flash a custom rom because i tried all stock rom from the list but no result!
tried all stock roms? opps, i guess theres always an exception. :x
what happened for me:
my phone was rooted (with cwm) and one day it wouldnt respond and i thought the screen was dead no matter how many times i rebooted. so i went home, dled another custom rom, flashed and it became alive.
Here is the thing, if i am on sms app and typing something, after that i exit an enter XDA app, on loading screen i can se my keyboard in background faded out but visible, do you guys notice this too? Is this LCD screen's issuse?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
Never seen that on my phone.....
Ok than im thinking to send it back on waranty than!
And is my waranty void by installing costum ROM and rooting the phone? Can i reverse it back to factory condition?

yes once rooted it voids your warranty. use nvflash to bring it back to warranty stock (;
Try at that time (when the keyboard ghosting is visible) to take a screenshot by pressing the power + home screen button. Later examine the screenshot when the ghosting isn't visible on the screen anymore. Or to be sure, see it on a PC.
This way you'll now if it's a software or hardware problem
you can't have ghosting effect with IPS LCD screen.
as far as I know, ghosting only happens to Plasma and AMOLED screens.
I agree with silentmelodies, try to screenshot & see it on your PC first.
Yes but that is on normal functioning LCD this one is messed up, screnshots are fine nothing on them, now when i enter settings i see keyboard over black area lol!
So i will send it after NY bcs i dont want to be out oh phone on holidays, basicly i need to flash it down to stock with nvflash or smartflash? On that smartflash guide thread i just see baseband flasing, when i flash rom and now? Before that using recovery mode or after that? I dont see in that steps on nvflash or smartfhasl anywerhe selecting rom...

You must use smartflash. Just go in dev section and search the dedicated thread. You just pick up the original version ROM you want and flash it.
It's not a recovery menu but a specific way of flashing. Just search and read you'll understand.
I had the same problem with my 2x ,there was some problem with the CM7 theme i guess. When reverted back to stock theme disappeared.
And btw lcd can have image persistance, i had this problem with my HTC touch pro after a good fall
Im 99% sure that this isnt software related, especially because its everything fine on ss!
But the fact the ghosting only happens to the keyboard is.. well, strange
Its not only on keyboard, but it is most visible that way! When i am in landscape mode and switch back to protrait i have clock and battery and signal bars in my bottom right corner!
I once had ghosting of the LG boot logo, which was very distracting. I think it happened after I flashed a baseband.
I got a bit worried and used NV flash to reset the phone to original firmware. That fixed the problem and I haven't had it since.
NV flash will unroot and reset your phone to original factory condition anyway, so it's worth a try. If it is still there then send it back under warranty.
edit - if you're sending it back you probably ought to run it through the LG update tool after the NV flash so it updates it to the correct firmware for your region.
OK i nvflashed it to some old froyo and update id thrue lg update tool and now im on v20l.
On first sight i tought my problem is gone, but still after texting 2 sms my keyboard is visible on my home screen backround :/
At least its stock and can send it back to warranty after NY!
What happened at the end? I have the same problem, is there a solution or should I send it to service?
Hi all,
So I have an S3 i9305 sitting around doing nothing. Thought I'd play with it. I had and older build of Miui running on it fine.
Decided to put on CM11, and that's when my issues started. The phone boots, but as soon as I get to any sort of setup screen I can touch anything on the screen. The physical buttons work fine, but the screen isnt.
I flashed a touch CWM and TWRP, both of which loaded fine by I couldnt touch anything.
I flashed back to stock kernel and stock rom
Kernel from - http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/recovery-odin-flashable-tar-t1971265
ROM from - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...5/roms-updated-17-08-2013-pre-rooted-t1942150
Still unresponsive touch.
Anything else I can try before I write this off as bricked
Thanks!

1 more thing...get the RIGHT firmware from HERE - get the one for your country.....flash that and do a factory reset after it..and wipe cache....
happened to a friend with galaxy ace....but phone was back to normal after flashing stock firmware from samsung.
Thanks mate!
So I tried some more flashes, no luck.
Took the phone to the local repair place, they told me the screen is broken. They attached a different temp screen and it worked. They attached my screen to a different phone and it didn't work.
Quoted me $189 to replace the screen

Dont think so... tired a few from the SamMobile site with no success. The setup screen shows up fine - but cannot continue with the setup as I cannot touch the screen.

so it is a hardware problem....not software - you can flash whatever you like...won't solve it...
if you like the phone consider repairing it...

Thanks for your help
I am having the same problem.
Even after installing new firmware.
The phone boots, screen is working. But the touch is not responding... I also did a factory reset + wipe cache.
Before that it was on CyanogenMod (4.2.2) and the screen was working properly.
What else can I do TT ?
I changed the front panel.
And it is working perfectly well...
How can modification to the software affect the hardware and brake the digitizer/touch function ?
via kernel man...kernel is the interface between software and hardware....
maybe a frequency or voltage got changed by kernel and something happened....no one can know for sure...

When wrong kernel is flashed, the touch sensor get disconnected and unrecongnised by the phone. Thats why the hardware is broken even though correct kernel is flashed afterwards. Best thing to do is replace the screen instead of trying over and over again.
Hope it helps
I use the Samsung GT 19305 LTE myself.
The volume up button is not working like it is a hardware problem. I have flash many custom rom yet any of that not solving this problem. The problem start while I was on custom emui rom if I'm not mistaken. At early of this problem, the button sometimes work sometimes not, and right now it is not even work anymore. I don't want to restore to official stock rom as I'm afraid that I cannot enter into recovery mode anymore.
So if anyone out there had encounter this kind of problem, and knew the solution, please tell me.
Thank you.

Sounds odd
Its a hardware issue for sure . Goto service center or else to a nearest cell point
Same issue
I also have same issue once I update into custom room
That is extremely weird to know. Have you tried to test it on different ROMS?
Alternatively, if you want to boot into recovery, download quick boot app from playstore.
