How do I update a rooted One with Xposed framework to 1.29. 401.12?

Hi guys,
I have jut received notification of an available update to my phone, and I have taken a nandroid backup and attempted to update. This failed and left me in recovery (CWM). I then tried manually updating using the .zip file from the download folder, but this left me stuck too.
How can I apply this update?

Did you remove any of the stock apks? What customizations have you done? Typically the ROM needs to be completely stock before applying an OTA update.

I'm pretty sure my rom is stock. Apart from rooting and apply changes to the framework.

You'll need to be unrooted, stock, and with stock recovery for the OTA to take effect.
If you need stock ROMS and recovery, they are available in the development forums.

Did you root regular HTC One or the China edition HTC One (802w)? I am in the same situation as you if you are using the 802w. Have you tried resetting to factory default, update it, THEN do the unlock/root?

You should follow Mikes thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618 it explains how to unroot etc. and after that you should be able to update your rom again.

official ota update fail

when i start update to 4.2.2 it's reboot and after few minut appear a
red exclamation mark and after reboot i've the old 4.2.1 ....i've try to factory reset but is the same.....what's the problem....???
my htc one is official not rooted....

Something is not stock on your phone... most problably boot...

Mine is a 1.31.651.2 not sure if this is the same as 4.2.2 update but as for boot image it has not been changed, everything is stock.

Possible Solution
I saw this problem b4, and there is possible solution.
Change the name "download" folder to "Download" in root directory, then FOTA again.

Non rooted. Everything stock. Just gives me a red triangle with exclamation point inside it after rebooting. After a minute it reboots again without updating.

OTA (Harman) 1.54.654.13 just came in on my phone

I sure hope it's a fix for the networking issues some of us have.
This is an update for phones that are already running Harman Firmware.
It's already been split into

dang, i just tried on mine and it said nothing available yet. Did get the new Sprint Touch app icon though which appears to be broken.

By the way, so far this has not fixed my network issues. But I'll try one more full factory wipe and profile wipe in a 4G area on the way home tonight.
The only thing not factory on my phone right now is S-OFF.

No, you need stock recovery to flash them, not receive them.

What was the final size of the file?
Do we just rename the zip to "System Update" to flash?

You can only run it if you have the stock recovery installed and are running the straight stock ROM from the RUU. If you are running the stock rooted or BadBoyz ROM, you cannot install it.

Kinda hard to tell what changed because it looks like they always patch every single file. Looks like there is a new kernel and firmware.
You can't flash the zip file. You can only update it if you are on the stock ODEX ROM with stock recovery.

If I am on stock, how do I flash this? I went to stock recovery but it can't find the file. Thanks.

Just go to settings and hit update and it should automatically reboot

I put the file in root of the internal SD card. I rename it to "Update". I went to to "Settings" and then to "System updates" then "HTC Software Update" then "Check Now" but it keep saying no update available. Any ideas?

If you are truly stock, just download it again. Keep in mind that it will update your hboot so I hope you are s-off.
I doubt the original file name is just "update.zip" and I dont even think it saves to root dir. The OTA update saved to downloads if I recall.

5.0.2 OTA discussion

Early this AM I got an OTA update to 5.0.2 on my M8 HK which also moved the WiFi calling icon over to the right of the notification bar and did away with the persistent notification. The version is 4.25.654.14 and I think there is a new radio (1.09.20.0209). haven't noticed any other changes yet.

I also just did a update check and got the OTA and I have a normal M8

I just got this on my M8 HK version. Installing now... Any ideas as to what it contains outside of the mentioned items?

Looks like the stock browser icon has changed. I am not sure if that means the app got an update or the stock overlay did. The version I have installed is 7.1.2514183160. I am not sure what's new if the app itself is, though.
There is also a flashlight app that I don't recall seeing before. Hopefully that means they are going to implement the pull down shortcut for it.

Also, vmail app is updated (fixed) and can now be updated without general failure.

Just upgraded my HTC One M8 H/K. We'll see how it goes.

10 minutes ago...

I have S-OFF, stock ROM, booted into FASTBOOT, copied the stock recovery.img from 4.20.651.10_full_firmware.zip using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Booted into the OS, let the OTA install, phone rebooted and is now stuck at the white "htc one powered by android" screen after it shows the yellow Sprint Spark screen and plays the boot up sound/tune.
I have since flashed the full firmware using the SD card method (4.25.651.14_Full_firmware.zip) and the old firmware (4.20.651.10_full_firmware.zip) and still stuck at that screen. I now have it back with the updated firmware via SD card flash (4.25.651.14_Full_firmware.zip).
Did I do something wrong? How can I fix this without having to wipe the phone?

I was able to flash TWRP recovery with fastboot then I was able to do a nandroid backup and copy the backup from the phone to my computer. I also backed up the internal SD card while in the TWRP recovery.
Ran the latest RUU, which wiped the phone, but then after it booted and ran the initial setup, I put the TWRP back on and then restored the data partition of the nandroid backup, rebooted, and the phone had all of the apps, content, settings, text messages, etc, (as if I didn't loose anything), along with the latest update from the RUU!

No sense 6.5 or 7...?

Nope. It's probably coming in the 5.1 matience release.

Looks like HTC wants to degrade M8 to sell more M9s. They didn't change much M9 and all HTC lovers don't want to change the device. Hence, HTC making the M8 worse. Never expected such a cheap behaviour from HTC. With the new update batty life sucks, its worse than which I had in HTC One X. HTC how can you cheat your customers for your selfishness!!! checked everything, its Android engine and kernel eatng up all the battery (non rooted factory firmware). Guys please dont update your phone!

Must be your apps I'm non rooted as well at the moment and am getting 17hrs with 4hrs screen time on latest update was a little better on KitKat but not a world of a difference

Maybe you are right. But, so long the phone has been stable and the day phone receives the OTA makes it like a charge addicted and battery drains 50% faster than before. Honestly with normal whatsapp, message, phone call and few minutes of facebook access lasts for roughly 5.5 to 6 hours. Let me see formatting the phone.

I noticed that every time I plug my phone into a charger of any sort (wall, car, solar, PC) WiFi turns on.
I am on stock ROM and Kernel rooted, 2.8.6 twrp installed, S-on. 5.0.2 RUU.
Can anyone else rebut or confirm this?

Yup I always uncheck it during first startup then have to go back into settings and uncheck it there again

[Q] update rooted/twrp phone

hey guys my phone is currently at 5.0 with rooted and twrp(just for phone backup/restore basically) and would like to update to 5.1. I tried installing the ota zip file from twrp but fail to do so. How should I proceed for this? I already converted the recovery back to stock but still no success on updating the file from sideload either. Any help would be appreciated!

U should be completely stock before updating to 5.1.. U can achieve it by downloading the correct system files of lollipop since its available.. And flash it using fastboot..... :thumbup:

if i go complete stock i would have to lose all the settings and update then go back to root again? Other files I have done back up but the settings are just a hassle somehow(minor tweaks here and there in settings)
