I searched the form and haven't found anything regarding this. I'm a bit shocked since you can do this with the S3 and S4.
Do we know yet if and when we'll be able to enable AWS bands on the AT&T Note 3 so all variances of 3G, 4G, and LTE would be used if you were to insert a T-Mobile sim card?
If I unlock the AT&T Note 3 and insert a T-Mobile sim card, I would only get LTE and "4G" where they have refarmed their network, correct? Everywhere else would be the Edge network? This is what I'm trying to avoid, thus asking about the AWS.
Thanks!

Good question. Maybe you can ask the dev over in the S4 forums about it and make sure to mention that you have obtained root access. His method might work the same but doesn't hurt to ask.
I've been looking for an answer to this as well since AT&T devices run cheaper than T-Mobile devices. I've used an AT&T Note 2 on T-Mobile with that method (the method was discovered on that device) and am currently using an AT&T S4 with my T-Mobile $30 plan with no issues.
so does anyone know a method to enable the AWS bands on AT&T note 3. This it the only post about it
So far doesn't look like it :crying:
Stinks too because I just bought the Note 3 for T-Mobile off of eBay for full price! and selling my S4. Will probably still have to pitch in $300 or more.
I was really hoping to find something, because I know of a loop hole in AT&T's system that allows me to get any phone at the discounted price, and then I cancel the next day without getting a early termination fee. This is how I've gotten my last 3 phones without having to pay full price. Now that I'm with T-Mobile, I will only be able to do this if I can get the phone from AT&T and then unlock T-Mobile's frequency band(s)
We need someone to make a QPST backup from a T-Mobile model and zero out the IMEI in the QCN file (or put the AT&T device's IMEI into it). Then restore that backup onto an AT&T Note 3.

I just asked on another forum. Waiting to hear back. Still need someone who's feeling lucky to flash it though.

TMOBILE UNLOCKED and RUNNING ON ATT
I bought the Note 3 - TMOBILE version because I didn't want to deal with a locked Bootloader from ATT. After getting home, I purchased an unlock code online and within 10 minutes my phone was unlocked - I added the ATT APN and 4G LTE came thru just fine - did a SpeedTest.net speed test and had 34MBS down and 8MBS up - I am very happy,
It cost me $24 for the unlock code - I suppose I could have waited until someone figured out a way do it for free - but patience is not one of my better virtues.
I had to sign up for TMOBILE service to get this - but I Plan on cancelling my account later today. And will just keep the phone (which I paid for anyway)
So that's my story - I am happily running the NOTE 3 On ATT - and I don't have to worry about a locked Bootloader. But I did have to jump thru some hoops to make it all come together. I must be crazy.....lol

I wouldn't flash the international version. Not much is known about the compatibility yet. I bet the dialer and the text theme will be ported over just need to give the devs some time. You might be able to grab the dialer.apk from the international version though and install it.
Do you guys think it won't be an optimal experience having a T-Mobile phone running on AT&T? Wasn't sure if AT&T includes anything on their phones to optimize it for their network? Maybe I am over thinking this..

Yes you need root since the dialer is a system app. I would start a thread in the tmobile q&a forum asking for what you want. The dialer and the text app. It is off topic here. Good luck!

Here is the URL where I purchased the SIM Unlock code - (cost $24.95) www.cellunlocker.net
Regarding TMOBILE LOCKED BOOTLOADER _ I read those threads I didn't see anything in them that indicated anyone knew that the TMOBILE Note3 had a locked Bootloader - in fact Chain Fire has already released CF AUTO ROOT for TMO Note 3 - don't think it would work if it had a locked Bootloader - and TWRP and CWM have both updated recoveries for TMO Note 3 - so I think your concerns are unwarranted.
I have not yet rooted my phone, only because I am at work and Plan to do it when I get home tonight. I will report back once I have successfully rooted.

I realize the Note 4 just shipped and only a few people already have theirs (I am in that group - awesome phone)
Wondering if anyone has found a Sim Unlock that works with this phone? I have no patience and want to unlock so I can use the TMOBILE PHONE on my ATT Network - and none of the online sites for unlocking mention the Note 4 - so I was wondering if anyone has successfully found a site that works? or a Method that works?
Suggestions?

Thanks - l got the same kind of answer from http://www.cellfservices.com/ I used them on my S5 - but it is taking longer this time than it ever has in the past - so I got nervous and put up this thread to see what anyone else had found.
I seem to remember there was a way to unlock your Sim Card using Samsung Secret Codes - but I didn't know if that would work for the Note 4?
I am trying cellunlocker.net. They said they should be able to do it, but no unlock yet since I just put it in.

What about other options? I seem to recall seeing a thread about unlocking using Samsung Secret Codes - I have searched and can't find it - not sure if anyone else has seen this -
Another possible option worth looking into --when the NOTE 3 came out - REGIONS were a problem for people who had bought phones outside of the region they wanted to use the phone in - Chain Fire created a REGION AWAY flashable fire and we discovered that Flashing the REGION AWAY from Chain Fire had the additional benefit of unlocking the sim card - that is how I unlocked my NOTE 3 - but I am not sure if REGION AWAY would work on the NOTE 4???

I dont have two of the same devices - but I do have a note 4 and an S5 right now -
When I do a speed test from my hone on the S5 (Att) I get about 8MB down - and 4 MBup (I get much faster in other parts of the city - but at my home that is pretty typical)
When I do a speed test on TMOBILE at my home - I barely get 1.5 MB up and about the same Down -
There could be a lot of reasons why Att is better for me than Tmobile - Tower location is a big one - but for me - I don't have any data issues using a TMOBILE PHONE on ATT.
Hey guys, been doing some digging and haven't found anything conclusive so I was wondering if you all could help me out. I would like to buy a Note 4 if and only if a few certain conditions are met and I'm trying to figure out how to accomplish that.
1) I'm really loving how far Samsung has come with toning down TouchWiz, but I still would want root to remove bloatware, install some xposed modules, etc. So far the AT&T variant has no root capability.
2) Having an unlocked bootloader is not a must, but it is a plus. I actually don't want to give up some of the OEM Note features.
3) I have absolutely zero T-Mobile service where I live, so AT&T or their MVNOs are really my only option for a GSM phone
4) 4G LTE is a must
so-
I was wondering if it would be possible to buy a Note 4 from T-Mobile outright (online preferably), get it carrier unlocked and bring it over to an AT&T MVNO?
I don't see anything listing the difference in bands between the AT&T and T-Mobile variant and I don't see any requirements about needed to stay on a T-Mobile plan for a certain amount of time before unlocking, just that the phone has to be completely paid for. Also I can't seem to find the full price for a T-Mobile Note 4.
Any help is much appreciated! Thanks!
Edit: Sorry I posted this to the wrong forum! Trying to find a way to move/delete it!

I believe the full price is $760.
T-Mobile will only provide the unlock after 2 months consecutive service, so you'll need/want to pay for an online unlock service if you want the code immediately....be sure to make a 5 minute or more call with a t-mobile sim (try to borrow a friends or co-worker) before requesting the unlock code from an online unlock service. That is necessary due to Samsung's region lock, the phone needs to "authenticate" that it is being activated in the correct market....you can google and get a clearer meaning of what I'm talking about.

That is necessary due to Samsung's region lock, the phone needs to "authenticate" that it is being activated in the correct market....you can google and get a clearer meaning of what I'm talking about.

Thank you for the help!
Hmm it looks like the region "authentication" may be a bit of an issue as I know no one with a T-Mobile sim. Again, I live far away from any T-Mobile service but I am planning a trip to an area they service next month. But even if I was to find a friend with T-Mobile I know nothing about online unlock services. I'm guessing you give them your IMEI number and pay a fee and they give you an available code. Now by the look of the websites I'm seeing, this looks to be a little shady (which I could be ok with) but I don't seem to see any indications of what kind of prices I'd be looking at.
Would you happen to recommend a website in particular or know of the cost? Or is this something XDA doesn't want people posting about? Forgive me if what I'm asking is not allowed.
so get sim for $10 and buy $2 a day prepaid plan.

I used cellunlocker.net to unlock 2 S5's, I think they state it takes up to 12 hours or something, but they had my code in about 22 minutes. I have no experience with other unlock services but there are some that sound horrible, I recommend cellunlocker personally.
I think I paid about $34.99 per device, everything worked without a hitch

What this guy said. You don't need to do two months of service. cellunlocker.net is where you want to go.
Is there a risk of T-Mobile blacklisting your handset if you unlock via a third-party or is that FUD? I just picked up my Note 4 today, I haven't activated service yet. I haven't even popped the SIM in. What would they do if I never did? I just want to pay for it and go back to dirt-cheap prepaid.

I have never heard of such a thing.
@unpocolobo Im an AT&T costumer for my Note 4 on 2 year contract which came out 100$ sold it same day for $700 and got a friend to buy me T-mobile one for $750 plus tax so about $800 so personally i spent $200 on phone and then got unlock code from http://www.cellunlocker.net/ only $30 came in under 20 mins. Also i never used the T-mobile sim on my phone so im guessing there is no region lock on them
Correct me if I'm wrong, but TM uses 1700MHz whereas AT&T uses 1900MHz?
At any rate, I hope it all works out....you'll love the N4. :good:

I can't seem to find anything that lists the official supported bands of the N910T and whether or not it's different than the N910A (AT&T)

I have a T-mobile Note that is unlocked and I have my AT&T sim card inserted. LTE, 4G, 3G, and 2G all work fine

The tmobile note 4 works fine on att and att mvnos.

They won't blacklist it if u paid it off. They have no reason to
T-Mobile will not blacklist fully paid devices, unless it's reported stolen of course.
I have read several threads already and was pretty sure any of them would work but came across a couple posts saying Tmobile and AT&T versions were giving people problems.
I am looking to buy one off Swappa but most of the available phones are with carriers other than Sprint.
I know all US Note 8s have identical hardware so can I purchase any carrier version Note 8, unlock it, flash Sprint rom and be good to go?
Thanks for any help.

It is still better to buy the version you intend to service with...unlocked if you want better resale and better switching...but if you get a better deal...any carrier can be switched...the IEMI just has to be added to carrier for all functions, in some cases...and that's where the issues arise...not all techs will do it...Sprint is the most lenient...

Check the device's specs to make sure it uses the same bands as Sprint
If it dont then no cause LTE or 3g may not work properly
Most "GSM" phones dont pick sprint up to well
Search switching carrier guide and BlueFox721 on XDA and you will see many

False...all Note 8s hardware are same...only issue is unlocked firmware not getting VVM and WiFi calling from ATT and Verizon...which is fixed by flashing complete carrier firmware...T-Mobile devices are running Verizon firmware and Sprint devices are running T-Mobile firmware...

I have this same question asked in the T-Mobile forum but wasn't sure if that's the right spot.
I have been reading a lot of different things about doing this with no definitive answer. It looks like, as of recently, it should be as simple as popping in the sprint Sim card and it should work but I want to be sure before hand. Are there any downsides at all about using tmobile Note 8 on Sprint?

To be truthful, there is most likely no downsides of using a Tmobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on the Sprint Network. You should be good to go! :good:
It won't work unfortunately. I also believed it was as simple as sticking an Activated Sprint SIM in the T-Mo N8, but Sprint has a different system. Another user was having issues with a VZW N8, so I did some research, and even though hardware wise they are all the exact same phone, Sprints system will only accept IMEIs from Sprint N8s and factory unlocked N8s. An IMEI from any other carrier will not activate.
So glad I have T-Mobile.

There have been others that successfully activates...it will just show a generic pic and some features may not work...otherwise Sprint's byod would be a bust...some iemi's might not be accepted do to contract issues, or being internationally unlocked instead of SIM unlocked...other issues may be the cause as well..but others with ATT, Verizon, and T-Mobile devices have activated on Sprint or other carrier with just a SIM...adding IEMI to Sprint database just ensures working features...although, some have had to use a non-active Sprint IEMI to activate their non-Sprint device...still, less fuss with swapping out to a Sprint or factory unlocked device...good luck

Not according to another Sprint user here. He tried everything and it wouldn't work. Do some research, especially on Reddit. Unless it's an unlocked 950U1 or a Sprint Note 8, it will not activate on their network.
I thought the same as you, until I researched it.

Sprint's website states that BYOD is only accepting IMEIs from the Special Edition of the Note 8...no carrier restrictions...same as S8 and S8+...that restriction may lift after acceptable number of sales of Sprint devices...(1yr later)...but no help now...
Changing imei as I suggested before does not work for Sprint either...just gsm carriers...at least the paid service....and I do research all the time...and if you get a rep that will do it...they can...they just won't because of proprietary sales restrictions...according to Sprint's internal whitesheets...more reliable than online blogs...I have gotten Sprint to Activate a Verizon S7 edge when they weren't supposed to...you just have to go through hoops....they are picky with newer devices though...power with persuasion....
If anyone is still wondering, if you flash the (all carrier no bloat ware) unlocked version of the Note 8 firmware it will work with Sprint. You just need a compatible Sprint sim card. That sim card model number needed is 416Q, same as Galaxy S8 sim.

I did read Reddit , posts were from January I think.,and still no solid answer. The byod website says my TMO Note 8 device is compatible with Sprint. But how does one truly know? I don't want to port out to Sprint then find out that it doesn't work.

I just had a chat with Sprint online support. They we're able to load my Unlocked Tmo branded Note 8 IMEI to the system. They said it is ready for activation. I will pickup a Sprint Sim card later today or tomorrow and report back.
I can confirm that T-Mobile Note 8 will work on Sprint. When I put the new Sprint Sim in it change the splash page and add Sprint apps. It removed all T-Mobile apps
Do you have access to all the Sprint bands?
Which SIM did you buy and where?
Just ordered my two Sprint Kickstarter Sim cards. Should be here on Tuesday, porting in from T-MOBILE. Will be using them on our TMO Note 8 devices.

I think the phone has all bands. I also tried my Verizon Sim card from my work phone and the Note 8 downloaded all of the Verizon apps and I was able to make calls. It even showed the Verizon splash screen when I turned it on.
Here is a pic of the Sim card packaging. I got it from my local Sprint store.
All works fine. Or so it seems. Connected to band 41 I think currently. Amazing how the Note 8 reconfigure itself.

Not bad, not as fast as TMO but then again not as expensive. $15 is $15 , right?
Sometimes, my browsing slows right down. Even on hand 41. Loading pages like BBC etc, it stalls.

I must agree with you. The network is a lot slower than T-Mo. I have a Sprint branded G7 I got from Swappa and it performs the same as T-MO Note 8 I ported over. For $15 per month I can't complain either.
Indeed, we get what we pay for. I'd however never spend $60 plus on Sprint unlimited plan if it were like this.
Moral of story, Sprint ain't worth more than $20 per month.
