[Q] flash stock international rom to google edition device - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I changed my device's mid and cid yesterday with s-off. and flashed google edition rom. so it is completely google edition now. with cid GOOGL001 and mid PN0712000 (it was PN0711000 before with cid HTC__J15 and software number 2.24.401.9)
but the problem is I really hate this new UI and the whole rom, I totally regret about what I have done! I even lost my backup accidentally.
anyway now I'm looking for a stock (and unroot) rom for my device so it receives OTA from htc with no harm.
I know I could search a bit more and find a solution but I'm really confused right now about the whole thing I have done

change CID and MID back to original.
Then use this CWM nandroid:
backup_2.24.401.2.zip 992.9 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!bJFwTK5A!dFlFjw9hCq98SHxPKC9jxRn9GdwcvcoBcKaDdn2pQJU
MD5: 3ca9f5f2fd4dd67904655358079303ba
use this recovery:
Stock_recovery_2.24.401.1.img 8.5 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!PQ9BnSBS!ZAqGcgKi7hXiXDXFs7yKaEQASMgcab5t4vjw19__92A
MD5: 0e480c0e203ceca7a306ae15c2584925
then you will receive OTA to 2.24.401.9.
EDIT: you may also need restore hboot and firmware if you changed it

[Q] Is my HTC One rooted?

Hello,
I just bought HTC One (in retail, without operator logo). I just noticed following in my Kernel information :
3.4.10-gb91aaea
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT
Does this mean that device is rooted? I noticed Vodafone logo when turning on device. Everything works fine, I just want to be sure that my device will be able to receive all updates from HTC and not be locked.
Thanks in advance for answer.
Nope it isn't. Try the Root Checker app in the Play Store to confirm
Check CID using CID getter from play store. So that you can know from will u get the updates.

Thanks for answers. Just one more question : Can I install stock HTC WWE ROM on my device? To remove this Vodafon stuff and have clean stock ROM?
Thanks again,
You'd have to unlock your bootloader and a custom recovery would needed too, then you're free to install any roms

To the OP you have to do what kurby suggested but remember that you cannot use any RUU except the Vodafone one. If however you are just wanting to install the actual ROM then you can do it after unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom recovery.
Thanks guys. Can you please clarify this a little bit more as I'm new to this : You say that if I want to install original HTC WWE ROM instead of Vodafon version, I must unlock bootloader and then find RUU from Vodafone? Is that right? Do you maybe have a link for a RUU for Vodafone version of HTC One?
You can only install RUU to the same CID region. Looks like your phone is not a retail non branded phone. You will not able to get updates from HTC even with the stock rom installed because it will check if the CID is the same region. You can unlock bootload, install a custom recovery then can flash any custom rom but not RUU.

As mentioned before RUU is CID specific. So if your CID is not in the list of the RUU, the RUU won't flash your phone. For example if I have a Vodafone branded HTC One and I want to debrand it to get rid of the Vodafone stuff that's installed on my HTC One. I simply can't just use the stock 1.29.401.16 UK RUU because the CID list for the UK ROM(RUU) are as follows:
cidnum: HTC__001
cidnum: HTC__E11
cidnum: HTC__102
cidnum: HTC__203
cidnum: HTC__405
cidnum: HTC__Y13
cidnum: HTC__304
cidnum: HTC__032
cidnum: HTC__A07
cidnum: HTC__J15
cidnum: HTC__016
Now if my Vodafone branded HTC One has a CID for example VODA001, then when I try to run the 1.29.401.16 RUU it will fail. Because my CID is not in that list. But if you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery and then flash this stock ROM that mike1986. posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752 that will work.
But bear in mind just because you have used that stock ROM that mike1986. posted it doesn't mean you can install OTA updates from that region. Because the next update for example is 1.29.401.20 the OTA will look for the CID in the list I posted. And since your CID is techinically still VODA001 the OTA update will not install.
Now when we are able to change the CID on the HTC One then you can use any RUU you wish as long as you have a matching CID or a SuperCID.
Thanks very much guys! I understand now.

OTA update failing because of modified software?

Hey there
For some reason the OTA (1.29.401) failed and told me that I may be running modified software, however I tried the OTA update AFTER relocking the bootloader and flashing a RUU so then everything is stock! I am S-OFF, however, could that be the issue? The CID is HTC__001. Originally it was HTC__J15 but I changed it because J15 doesn't receive OTA updates except like three months after everyone else.
Thanks!
MID?

Not sure, but I think both you're CID and MID have to match what is in the OTA for it to work.
And you need stock recovery for OTAs to install.
I do have stock recovery, however I believe that yes, my CID and MID don't match since my device came with CID HTC__J15 and MID PN071100 whereas European devices come with HTC__001 and MID PN071000. That's definitely it, right?
sorry but did you fix this ?? I'm facing the same problem here!

Converting HTC One to Developper HTC One

Hey guys, I've been flashing roms for almost 5 years now. Something I haven't done is get experience in the RUU flashing domain.
What I was wondering is, what exactly are the requirements to flash the RUU RUU_M7_UL_JB43_SENSE50_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_3.22.15 40.1.exe ?
Here`s the information you might need to answer this question
My phone is Rooted with S OFF
HBOOT is 1.54.0000
fastboot cid shows CID-11111111
MODELID: PN0712000
Is there anything else I will need before flashing this RUU ? Hope I can get a quick answer.
Thanks guys!
No. Go for it
Change your CID to BS_US001 and you'll receive OTA updates too. The 4.4 update for Dev Edition is due any day now.

[Q] What CID to choose

I recently S-OFF-ed my One and converted into GPe with 4.4. However I choose the supercid 11111111 because I was recommended to do so and those instructions where provided after a question in which I stated all getvars. But I have been reading that 11111111 doesn't get the OTA which I would like to receive might I get 4.5 or whatever future versions HTC will still support.
According to this thread SuperCid 11111111 doesn't get OTA and the best bet for me would be HTC__001. Is that correct, or can I also choose from HTC_001 or GOOGL001? The latter I remember reading is supposed to be good too.
So which CID is best, should I change at all and are there downsides to any CID.
(Also, can I S-ON again by writing the security flag? I feel a bit more secure knowing that I cannot unintentionally completely brick my phone.)

Normally in order to receive OTAs your MID (PN0712000) and CID (GOOGL001) have to match. Super CID is okay for flashing firmware and RUUs.
As long as you're careful with flashing any firmware, I don't see a good reason to revert to S-on. There's a good chance that it'll be impossible to achieve S-off again after an OTA update.
How can I get a matching mid/cid and what are the implications? Are there advantages to the GOOGL001 or HTC__001 cids?

[Q] need help flashing stock

hey guys, please help me out.
yesterday I got a call from my family member that he did something wrong (switched off the phone while it was installing the OTA) and now his htc one (m7) is not starting, he has no idea about the android rooting and stuff nor do I, but he asked me to find out the solution.
so here is what I did apart from too much of reading the same info again n again (and I did all this things remotely with his help as my relative lives is in another city)
1. unlocked bootloader
2. flashed twrp (latest)
3. then I came across this guru reset file (a zip file) and flashed it, I used this file because I read RUU are the real stock files but to use them I need s-off which i didn't have. below is the detailed info of the file I flashed (copied from the webpage
"
Guru Reset M7 3.63.707.4
File Size: 1.1 GiB - Downloads: 33194
MD5: 6aba67e56889124c4ab5188bba15a569
Comments: Stock Asia/India (World Wide English) ROM 3.63.707.4 with graphical aroma installer. Includes the ability to flash the Stock Recovery and also Stock Radio.
Future OTA Updates will work when available.
modelid: PN0711000
modelid: PN0714000
cidnum: HTC__044
cidnum: HTC__038
"
I did not choose anything extra ordinary in aroma installer, just stock radio and recovery.
everything is working fine now with just one little problem, the mobile is not receiving OTA updates, it's showing an error about "variant version"
I read even more and came across the words , CID and MID
i checked them after flashing the new file, it's
MID - PN0711000
CID - HTC__038
I don't know if it changed automatically after flashing new rom but my MID and CID is matching the file detailed info of the zip i flashed, so please let me know what should I do now?
more details about the phone

Since the phone hboot version is 1.57, there is a mismatch between your rom (software) version and your firmware version. hboot 1.57 is for version 5.xx.xxx.x 6.xx.xxx.xx, so in your case you should flash the 5.12.707.104 reset rom not the 3.63.707.4.

Can you post the ouput of "fastboot getvar all" except the IMEI and SERIALNO?

The reset Rom is for an older Firmware version than your phone is running
The Rom is version is 3.xx.707.x but your actual firmware version is 5.xx.707.x or 6.xx.707.x as indicated by hboot 1.57. Try the reset Rom from this link
