When I go to `App info` in Chrome app, `LAUNCH BY DEFAULT->No defaults set.` & `Clear defaults` is a greyed out. How do I reset it?
Do you have some other browser set as the default now? If so, you have to clear the defaults from that browser's app info. When you launch a link from an email, do you go straight to Chrome now or are you asked which browser to use? If you get the question, you have no default browser set.
I only have one browser that came with the phone (google chrome) and that's what I'm using ..
You probably have no defaults to clear since you only have one browser on the device.
Doesn't matter if you have 2 browsers installed, chrome is a system app, I have both aosp and chrome browser installed and clear defaults is greyed out on chrome. I use alternate app picker module for xposed framework to set aosp browser as my default browser. You can also freeze it with TB or ROM toolbox if you wish to remove it

Hi Guys,
I just flashed the tablet to TNT 3.1.0 along with LaunchPro. I installed Dolphin Browser. When I put a shortcut to URL on the Home from the dolphin browser, It launches the page in the stock browser. Sometimes it opens a blank stock browser window and it loads the page in Dolphin. I cant figure out if there is a pattern to when it does this.
Any suggestions to open URL shortcuts to open in Dolphin?
When it goes to a browser don't you get a popupp asking to select which browser to use?
That popular should Java a checkbox, and if you check that, it should use the selected browser as the default browser.
Jim
It does the first time if I clear the Dolphins "Use Default" option from ManageApps. After the first time it still starts stock browser.
I am using MgeekBookMark as the shortcut type. Should I be using something else?
Samething happens in ADW and Stock Launcher as well.
Something with MgeekBookMark fires up the stock browser
I fixed it. I had to go SYSTEM APP MANAGEMENT and clear the Default from WEB application.
Hello
I have more than one browser installed. I want to be able to use all of them, så I have not set a default one.
When I open the standard browser, each time I click a link I get a prompt for which browser I want to open the link with. Extremely annoying.
Is there any way to make the browser use the current session/app to open a link without the prompt?
Nobody gets this - or is there no solution?
The browser does that automaticly. You can set another browser as default but if you open the standard browser it opens the URL with it and not with the one set as default. The same with other browser like firefox, opera and dolpfin hd.

This is a pita - and I can't believe this is how it's supposed to work but thank you for your answer
I just got my galaxy s (captivate the other day), so I'm still new to the interface.
Anyway, some web page was crashing the browser every time, so I decided to try another browser. I found firefox in the app store and sure enough, ff could load the page that kept crashing the default android browser. So, i'd love to set firefox to be the default browser.
Can anyone help me figure out how?

Are you on stock or using a replacement launcher?
And if you click links from apps and stuff it should ask you which you want to use, just tap the check mark and select firefox.
Many thanks for the prompt reply. I'm on rooted stock (that sounds very botanical). You think maybe I need an aftermarket loader? I've seen some mention of app loaders, but don't really know what one is.
I did notice that links to web urls give me the chance to choose a browser. But, I'm also interested in changing the link on the bottom of my homescreen. Will a new launcher help with that?
Thanks for any advice.
LaucherPro is a great launcher... Fast and highly customizable. It will allow to change the icon and shortcut in your dock to FF. You can find it in the market.

I haven't been on the stock launcher for a long time, but I know you can change that icon by pressing 'menu' and selecting edit on the app drawer.
But a new launcher is always recommended, I use launcher pro as well

you can change the shortcut in the default touchwiz dock as well.......................... open app tray, hit the menu softkey, edit, customizable grid... drag the icons you don't want on the tray off. drag the icons that you want on the tray on. menu key, alphabetical grid (to fix the icons you dragged out), save.

Go to settings/apps/all apps, scroll to the stock browser, click on it, scroll down and clear defaults. Back out of settings, go to your app drawer, click on the desire browser, a pop up window will pop up asking which browser you want to use and will also have check box asking you to either set that one browser as default or to always open that one browser. Check the box and choose the browser you want as default and you're done.
By the way, this better be for the Htc One.
I don't use the recents integration ( because I would never find tabs again). It seems since I upgraded to 5.1 (or it could be coincidence) I have two different sets of tabs in Chrome. When I open a link or the app, sometimes one set opens, sometimes the other. There is no way of switching between them.
I've tried uninstalling updates, deleting cache, and turning the "mix tabs with recents" on and off.

When you open a new browser window it goes into your recent apps menu. You can change it in chrome settings

That isn't what he is talking about, and if you read his question, you would understand that he has disabled this in the chrome settings menu.
