[Q] Dashclock as lockscreen? - Moto X Q&A

Call me Newbee (I am one, just got my Moto X as an upgrade for my loved Razr I), but i just cannot figure out: how can I make Dashclock my lockscreen -instead of the much praised Active Notifications (for me too little information)??
I can install Dashclock without problems, I can set it up as widget on my homescreen/ launcher, but I cannot find a way to install it as LOCKSCREEN instead of Active Notifications. If I turn ANs off, screen goes on with my pin lock (exchange company policy), and I cannot find a way to get Dashclock as my lockscreen.
Best friend Google did not help, neither browsing these threads for advice. Am I doing something wrong, or Dashclock lockscreen does not fit in Moto X?
Thanks for any help on this frustrating issue.

Swipe left on your lockscreen and hit the big + button. Then add the DashClock widget to it. Once you do that, long-press the DashClock Widget and move it to replace where the old clock used to be. By the way, Active Notifications an the Lockscreen are two different things. Play around with that first to see if you like how it works.

Thanks, solved. Just for info/ future learning; the problem was my company mail restriction, the pinlock combined with company restriction did not allow to swap/ install lockscreens.
After temporarely removing company policy I was able to install Dashclock w/o any problems; as You suggested Active Notifications AND Dashclock running together!
Thanks for advice.
PS: problem NOT solved.. Although I can change lockscreen to Dashclock when company policy is off, after turning my company mail account on (and restrictions on again) lockscreen goes back to default (clock) and cannot change it back to Dashclock (no swapping page possible)..
Very annoying, as I need my company post/agenda. Any ideas /workaround, other than rooting, please?

LG Lockscreen & Pattern

Hi guys,
It's very annoying to see that android isn't able (by default) to use the lockscreen and the lock pattern. The only one I saw so far is HTC. You can use the lockscreen and the pattern together. On the LG the lockscreen is gone if I select a lock pattern. Is this a line in a .xml file or something? Does anybody know that? If so, is anybody able to mod that?
You can use lockscreen apps.
You should post such stuff in general.
What is the point of having two lockscreens?
What are the downsides of only a pattern lockscreen?
I want to keep it as stock as possible. On other thing is, that I don't like only pattern. It doesn't show the same info as the normal one like music. I like the app widgetlocker. But sometimes it seems to lock a little bit later and the app is one of the biggest battery drainer I ever had. Anyway, I don't want to use any kind of third party apps!
use gesture unlock. cmsettings. lockscreen, and you can keep lockscreen or you can remove it.gesture unlock is far the best.
and hope you are on cm7

Stock has no double lockscreens.
You can use CM7 to show lockscreen music controls. It is in the CM settings.
HTC has 2 cause it has its sense interface.
There are some music apps which can do separate lockscreen controls as well.

Dashclock issues with 4.3 Update

Hi all,
After installing the 4.3 update, I started using dashclock but it has been a bit buggy. For example:
- If the music player is being used, dashclock doesn't show up on the lockscreen
- Won't let me swipe from the notifications to access the app after the phone is unlocked (I have a pin lockscreen)
- Not all notifications show up (ie. my mail doesn't show up with the anydash extension, which may be an issue with that specific extension)
Has anyone had any similar issues?

Yup. Haven't tried with music yet, but the other ones match my experience. I also have 2 clocks on the lock screen instead of just dashclock and unlike the screenshot haven't figured out a way to use the pattern unlock w/ dashclock without having to perform 2 separate actions. I am very disappointed since this was one the the major updates for Android 4.2.

[Q] Is there any rom that can show a normal lockscreen before the secure lockscreen?

In HTC Sense, whenever I activate the display, I get the normal unlock screen which allows direct access to different apps by swiping the corresponding dock icons...
This normal lockscreen is ALWAYS shown, and if I have enabled a secure lockscreen (like pattern unlock or face unlock), this secure lockscreen is shown AFTER the first "normal" lockscreen.
Is there an AOSP/AOKP/CM based mod that can do the same thing?
edit for clarification:
Use case is the following: I use face unlock, but sometimes I just want to have a quick look at the lockscreen (widgets). But with cyanogenmod, as soon as I press the power button, my face gets recognized and the phone is unlocked. It's so quick that I can't even see the dashclock widget.
So it would be perfect to have a normal "slide to unlock" lockscreen (with different slide targets for different apps), and THEN the face unlock.
I don't get it why HTC Sense seems to be the only system that has this kind of behavior properly implemented
Follow-up: Now I use Widget Locker, it does exactly what I want.
another follow-up:
Unfortunately, Widget Locker has its own problems...
I have different apps that show music or other playback controls on the lockscreen (Play Music, TuneIn Radio, Yatse), and those don't work with Widget Locker.
So this brings me back to my original question... is there really no "not-Sense-based" rom that can display the normal "slide to unlock" screen before the secure lockscreen?

[Q] Notification Talback/NoLED/launcher/splanner/HelloWorld-Make-II kernel C22 Hell

I've been rolling round the net for a few days now trying to solve this but no fully successful result.
It seems the stock launcher has this bug were if u have anything active in the accessibility services such as NoLED then tallback (TB) kicks in.
I tried the disable TB suggestion for NoLED but it always seems to start again. However I have stooped the voice by uninstalling it + the 2 TTS engines. However a hand is displayed in the notification bar (& it ignores my colour thyme) and an ongoing notification is displayed as well U can get rid of this but it reappears at reboot.
So I've tried the used a different launcher idea for NoLED, I think this worked (lots of launchers & playing going on) TB voice wise but I still get the hand
Also the splanner 'full screen' widget does not seem to work with other launchers I've had a look at a few other calendar widgets but they are not as good as they did not display any text only a marker for events unlike the splanner widget.
But even if I could find a good 'full screen' calendar widget I would still have the TB hand problem so I might as well stick with the stock launcher as I have figured out how to shut it up - But I don't want the hand!
I was thinking of trying [KERNEL][TW]Forest-HelloWorld-Make-II kernel for JB N7000 as v1.73 has BLN support but this is an old version and the new version does not support it. Also it looks like v1.73 does not have phils touchwiz recovery; which I currently have and don't wish to loose. Also the BLN in 1.73 is based on wakelock, so would this mean bad battery life?
I cannot ask about the kernel in it's thread yet, so can anybody comment.
Last night I found the LEDBlinker Lite app & that looked interesting but the way in which it works (which I have not looked at yet) means the back & menu buttons are permanently illuminated (this will be because I have them set to be on when the screen is on as I have 360 degree rotation enabled) and the activation icon for button savior is displayed. So this is no go due to battery consumption and screen burn.
Can anybody suggest a way out of this catch 22 hell, so I have some sort of message notification with the screen 'off', with no TB voice, no TB hand in notification, 'full screen' splanner widget or similar which displays text for events, does not cause the prob with button savior and the back/menu keys and has philz touch?
If a new launcher is needed it needs to support folders in the apps draw and ideally be free. I'm def not paying anything till I get it all working due to the catch 22 nature of this.
Any suggestions muchly appreciated as I've been messing around with this for days.
I'm using sweet rom v11.1 with a philz touch v5.
Thanks

Looking for more function from the locked screen

Hello everyone,
I just got my OPO and Im in the process of trying to customize it the way I want it. I know what i want to do but I haven't been able to figure out how to accomplish it despite searching. In simplest term I am looking for a more functional lock screen. A major priority is launching google now without unlocking the phone. I searched for Ok google anywhere, but only came up with aftermarket apps. I previously had some version of jellybean on my kindle where the lockscreen allowed me to choose between unlocking the phone, and launching google now. Is there something I can install or a similar rom for Kit Kat and the OPO?
So far I installed an app called Slidelock which displays messages and notifications on the lock screen iphone style. It works great but an option that lets me quick reply from there would be even better. I haven't come across such an app or setting. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.

You can "call" Google now from any screen including the lock screen just:
Open Google Now
Settings
Voice
"Ok Goole" Detection
And select the options you want: From Anyscreen and From Lock Screen
Done.

For notifications. Try echo notifications
I think its much better then slidelock and nlis notifications. 100% free no ads
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
echo replaces the lockscreen, which makes it a no no for me, but some people do like that.
Nils you can set up by changing to aosp lockscreen on the opo, (settings lockscreen, disable custom lockscreen) then adding the widget, moving widget to default position then swapping back to custom lockscreen in the lockscreen settings.
