For listening music I use pre-installed app. Whenever I download some music from web it never shows up in the app library, only restarting the phone helps. There is no option to refresh library at all, syncing doesn't work either, is it just an app issue or could be the system?

Ok Im on .890, rooted, debloated. I create a playlist in the stock music app. Add songs to it and finally save it. When I reboot the playlist shows in the list, but when i try to play it it says its empty. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?
The stock music app is horrible, and I've experianced the same issue before. Use a third party player such as POWERAMP.

I second the vote for PowerAmp. I love having an equalizer with custom profiles. 1 profile for my car, 1 for listening, and 1 for working out.
Player pro is where its at.

what about free apps?
I also have that problem! Did you solve it?
Weird question, but I transferred my music to my new One and put it in the Music folder on the SD Card. However, when I open up Music or Play Music it does not find anything. I'm using standard Mp3... . Phone is running stock and I'm not rooted. Thoughts?
Try Rescan Media in the store or reboot the device.

No option in stock music programs to rescan. Final solution was to use HTC sync to transfer music. How stupid is that. Even if I transfer music to where HTC sync does (using another program), stock music program will not see it.

Nacho suggested using an app called rescan media.
It would be a complete battery killer if android constantly looked for new media, so it only does this after certain things happen. HTC sync probably sends a command forcing it to scan. The app suggested forces it to scan also and it's literally as fast as opening the app and you're done. Phones where you had to toggle usb storage mode on/off would automatically rescan when turning off the usb mode. Since this uses mtp, there isn't much going on to trigger this.

why not download es file explorer and find your music click on it and then pick you music player to play a song..i pretty sure it'll scan the file after
Btw, I just transferred music with windows - drag and drop folder to folder. No issues scanning media. Not sure why mine worked just fine and yours isn't.

Had this phone for about a week now and randomly my music wont play. I've tried the music player, google music player and some others like Android music player etc.
Below is an error message that pops up. The format is correct since I've played the same songs beforeit stopped working. Any suggestions?

Wow, nevermind a simple restart fixed the problem. Maybe it just is that simple sometimes. If anyone runs into this problem just do as I did.

Doubletwist even though it claims mtp support my htc one can't get songs sync perfectly. Can someone try using doubletwist and sync a playlist and tell me they don't receive an error? Htc Sync manager takes forever to load and the playlists it imports from itunes duplicate everytime I start the program. Any other options besides drag and drop? I prefer not to use google music as I want my tracks coming my my itunes.

Everything I have goes into my Google Play Music account and I just stream it from the cloud.

that is drag n' drop but i want to sync my certain playlists which would be a pain if i were to drag and drop them after i happen to update my playlists on itunes
I think you found your answer with iSyncr. It's what I use and it works pretty much flawlessly.
+1 for isyncr. I've tried em all and it's the best. Dev also has a music app that's called rocket player that sync your playcounts, starting positions and basically everything an iTunes desktop client does. Check it out. Pretty neat if your an iTunes user.

As a user of both iSyncr and doubletwist, I can agree and say iSyncr is superior. It's fast and easy.

Just realized that with stock music controls that works for play music, doesn't work for Pandora. I can pause music but not change songs. Anyone know of a app that will allow this?
Edit: I'm actually thinking I can't change songs because I'm out of skips. Hopefully that's all it is.
