Took a trip from Houston to corpus Christi. Anyone who's done the trip knows there's little to no cell reception between the two, and if you aren't familiar with where to turn, gps navigation helps.
I had the phone plugged in the whole time, screen on, and navigation going. Battery actually dropped from 90 to 85% during the trip. Phone was very hot. More than 100 degrees easily.
Ended up holding it in front of the ac vent for the rest of the trip once I realized how hot it was getting.
Since I was going down and back up in one day, I had no intention of stopping to I investigate, sorry, but it's worth looking at it every now and then when you're really pushing the phone.

Runs gps for extended period of time and complains about heat.
Runs screen non-stop and complains about heat.
Uses charger not rated for his phone and complains his battery won't charge and getting hot.

Made that trip twice in October, I know what you mean about the reception... Especially with T-Mobile.
I think what you experienced is to be expected though, I'm not sure why you'd need navigation the whole way either as most of the trip is 59 S.
Still though, I'd imagine that this could be duplicated just by playing a game while on the charger. It'd be interesting to see if thermal throttling is as aggressive as the Nexus 4.

Not sure I was complaining. Actually, I'm sure I wasn't complaining. I guess it may be easy to expect that considering all the "omg this and that and the other thing sucks about this phone".
On my gnex (which this replaced), the battery would die just from going through spotty cell areas. If I was going from Houston to Waco, and didn't have it on the charger I'd have to shut down the phone for the distance between college station and Waco.
Anyway, just as the gnex was better than my n1 was better than my g1, the n5 is the best phone I've had, I'm not complaining.
Thanks lwfb. on the way back I turned off navigation after Victoria.

Just picked up my BIONIC from costco! Came out to 306.24 with the accessories bundle!
Lg Revolution / XDA Premium
What accessories does Costco include in the bundle?
No docks or anything good
Looks like it's a case, vehicle charger, and screen protector. None of the cool stuff.
Don't forget about car dock, desk dock, extra battery with a standalone charger..

oh really? I was looking at it on Costco's website and it didn't look like any of that was included.

Just bought mine upgraded from a droid eris. My mom got a state discount which saved me 50$ so it came to 270.00 with new york tax. I can't wait to hopefully see great development for this phone.
Got mine 10:30 this morning from Costco. Here is a photo courtesy of the Bionic of everything that came with it. Pretty nice bundle for $300!

Coming from the Tbolt things have changed a bit. The phone is extremely light compared to the HTC, which is a plus in my opinion. Asides from that the only thing I really care about is battery life, which I will report back later about. So far so good though. I'm a pretty heavy user, and no matter what I tried with the Tbolt I could kill it in 3 hours. 10-12 hours being idle would near kill it. It's nice to take it off the charger and not see a 10% drop for no reason at all. True reading or not that drove a lot of folks bonkers.
I'll report back here in 6 hours with some details on battery life. That will be 7 hours off charge with some decent use. New phone use if you know what I mean

Looks good but cost USD 27. But not sure how this one working. I am now using the portable charger for my note II LTE (using the charger previously on my S3). I wanted to know who has the experience of using this battery from this website, how is this battery and the battery cover feel??? Does it look stupid???
Why not just carry a spare battery. This makes the phone huge.
Always open the housing cover to change battery is too trouble. Also, no battery charger that can charge the battery alone, need to get the empty battery into my phone and charge it is annoying!!!

Yeah boi...I'm looking to get me an extended battery as well. Have always used them and let me tell you, it is sweet having 2-3 days of use without having to worry about a charger. This phone is big already so having an extended battery isn't going to change that issue too much. Besides, it'll help with not snapping phone in half like someone did for their S3...OUCH!!!

I didn't counted it. But my Note II is always on during office hour. Many calling in. Also will used to check email and play game or video when I am having meeting outside (Play it during the traveling of course, :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed, I think it is about at least 5.5 hours for my office hour and only consume 30-35% power which is really good.
Evening time, my phone is mainly using for text msg and gaming (but gaming at evening is not usual) and a little calls. Until bed time, the battery still got 40-45%. That make me feel safe for able to not stay attached with the wall plug. :cyclops::cyclops:
Hi Guys not sure if this has been already posted , Just got around the SITEX 2012 in singapore and found this Battery pack with casing which makes the phone neat , yet not removing the battery cover for that extra juice.. its 48 S$ probably around 35US$ it looks pretty neat , any one tried this ?

I hope it will be available in Europe for the GNII.

A lot of these cases have an extra silo. But it would probably defeat the purpose of the sound and spen detection setting.
I think I'm going to have this phone for awhile so I can wait another couple of weeks for one that has the s-pen slot. I find myself using it at the most random of times.
Not only dose it seen to cover the S pen but also the back speaker.
I bought a second battery from Samsung website with the 50% off code someone posted here. I haven't needed it yet, but on the rear occasion I do it will be a simple solution. For now I just switch them out every few days.
All ,
yes its a bit annoying for removing the Spen but not very difficult for people who rarely use ( i use all the time though ) it covers up the space , however speaker is not compromisd as there is a opening for the speaker , but yes S pen is a bit annoying to remove as you will need to slide the fone out .. this s not a hard case so not a tough job to open the phone up from the case...
Might get one of these if they make a little higher quality product with little lower price. Hate the LED lights, on/off switch, no hole for stylus. Most of these need to be charged separately and are usually less than 1000mah.

yea the LEDs are bit too bright , but I found the battery pretty decent not excellent though they charged my phone fom 49% to 100 % in about 1 hour not sure if it can full 3000 MAH havent tested that , the stylus missing out is defnitely a disadvantage...
I was just about the post this, found it on ebay for 28. But no spen and yes the speaker which is covered up was the deal breaker for me. Guess I'll just wait for Samsung's wireless charging.

I have (well had, untill I dropped and shattered the screen) the T-Mobile version of the Note 2, and last week, was on holidays at Disney etc.. the day started at about 8 am, and then, I'd use it non stop, navigation, web browsing, phone calls... really put the phone to use and by the end of the day, still had citca 35% left - this is the first Android smartphone I've had where I'm comfortable with the battery life. the stock battery is more than man enuff for the phones features.
Anyone find a better charging case than this?
Mine did. Had it in my back pocket (stupid, I know, but I'm used to sticking my devices there), and next thing I knew, I had a bent n5 with backlight bleed galore. Seems this is a common problem with the iPhone, but unfortunately I expect to see more n5 users fall into my boat, as I was even being relatively careful to not put excessive weight on it while sitting (and I only weigh 160lb). Save yourself headaches and break any habits you have of putting things in your rear pockets now. :'(

No idea why someone would put their phone in their back pockets in the first place, to be honest. Seems common sense not to do that.

Your everyday carry can get out of hand fast.
5 inch phone, wallet, keys, pen, headphones, knife, flashlight Some of us may carry guns depending on the country, license status , or occupation. You can hit the need for a "man purse/satchel" very quickly. Sometimes your pants have bigger back pockets so that's where it ends up.

Every time I see someone stick their phone in their back pocket, I give them a bewildered look. Then they ask me why I'm looking at them like that, and I reply, "You actually keep your phone in your back pocket? How can you stand that?"
Goodness gracious, that has to be a chore to sit on, and I've seen a many stories where phones have been broken by being sat on.
Sounds like a human error OP, not a manufacturing error. Nothing to go creating a thread about. Most of us know sitting on your phone is not very smart....

Back in the day, I used to carry my personal Cell Phone on my hip in a case along with my pager for my work and my Palm Pre PDA. I looked like a real Techno Geek for sure. These days, I carry my work phone on my hip only. My PDA and my cell are now one and I carry that in my front pocket. Heck...I get nervous when I bend forward to tie my shoes. But...I live in Canada eh? and carry my cell in my jacket pocket or shirt pocket most of the time now. I've very aware of it at all times as I do not want an accident to happen. Putting it in my back pocket and sitting on it makes me twitch just thinking of it!
Yeah, I never understood the reasoning behind putting a phone in your back pocket. I was always amazed to see someone pull a phone out of their back pocket and see it still turn on.
Something I'd never do though. If needs be I'll just carry a bag, TBH.

It seems that I can't get Battery Care to trigger consistently at night even though I always go to bed somewhere between 11-1 and get up at 7 on weekdays or 9ish on weekends.
I realized though that I happen to have a pretty slow 500 mA USB port charger from back in the day. If I go to bed with the phone at 20% it would take over 4 hours to charge, meaning the phone spends less than half the night at 100%. Maybe this is the next best thing?

How fast does it charge? I have not seen any evidence of anyone being able to charge the X Compact any faster than about 1%/minute which is not super speed by any measure.
@cmstlist I'll try to check it out next time I charge. Feels pretty fast, but then again my previous phone was Z1c...
I usually get battery care where night time is the the first major charge of the day (sadly that's not always the case since I'm getting pretty disappointing battery life my Xc came with stock 7.0...).
I'm using the UCH-12 (supplied), have similar hours to you. When it turns on it reports a plan to be @100% 2hr~ before I wake up.
I was actually wondering is this feature any good (theoretically at least) or just voodoo?
Mine came with UCH 20 rather than 12. So far I'm never needing to charge it all day if I started at 100. Sometimes it's above 60 by bedtime so I don't start to charge it until morning.
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
For what it's worth, here's a graph of how the UCH 20 charges it with Battery Care. Normal speed until 90%, flat until almost wake time, then up to 100.

It started faster @ 1%/0.9min then I guess I used it more/slowed down on its own.
NO battery care triggered.
That's pretty good for me, being able to use the phone and still charge fast.
Yeah so it seems like the fastest it'll charge under any circumstances is slightly above 1%/min.

So the battery care only works with certain Sony chargers?
Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk
For what it's worth, Battery Care will trigger with any kind of charger, even a slow trickle. So even if in only charging at 1%/3mins, it'll still plateau at 90% for a while.
