I really want to buy an Xperia Z but i'm thrown of by the number of issues the phone has. I've heard there are wifi issues, sudden death issues, screen cracking and over heating issues. Is this all true? Or was this only in the first batch. Should I get it or not? Did you guys face these issues, thanx for your help.
After Xperia S I promised myself not to buy SONY devices ever, but I saw Xperia Z and I thought this one will be my last SONY for sure, I purchased it in August and I want to say that the only thing I like in this phone is Design and Camera. First of all after reading all the posts about Xperia Z I'm even afraid of using it under the rain, I also try not to play games so it doesn't get hot so the glass wont get unglued because phone gets really very hot when pushing it to it's limits. One week after purchase I decided to remove the factory installed screen protector because I don't like them, I trust SONY about their super glass but, some time later when I was cleaning it with very soft cloth I somehow managed to scratch it, and now there is a tiny dot on the screen. Another thing about the phone, as XPERIA Z frame is made of soft plastic you can see how it becomes glossy and it starts looking as if it has dents on it. I'm always careful with my phones and I never drop them or put on a table with screen down and etc but this phone started to annoy me. Small dust particles are collecting in the small space between screen and boarder, also in speakers and thats really annoying, on the black phone its very annoying. I'm cleaning this phone almost whole day and to tell you the truth if you try you can keep sweet&clean, but again I'm unhappy with camera perfomance, you know SONY loves exagerating things, camera is not that perfect at night, even if you have perfect light you can still see noises and artifacts. As a photographer I chose Z for camera and got quite disappointed. Also I had to purchase Bluetooth Headset SBH-50 because after a while FLAPS covering USB and Headphones get worn that increases chances of dust and water getting into it, also I had to purchase Dock station for the same reason, I'll tell you more I connected it via USB only 3-4 times, I use Wi-Fi for transfers, and it's annoying ... apart that this is very beautiful and strick phone if you want to show off and make iPhone fans cry. So this is my experience, I even thought of getting Z1 but I think I'll go with Nexus 5, I've had about 20 phones and all of them were Sony Ericssons so it's abit hard for me to change my Phone Religion ... Best wishes
My phone looks like this:

I have attached a photo of my AT&T Tilt. I recently dropped it and I want to know if I just need to replace the screen or if there is another issue. The phone works perfectly but the screen has weird colors and distortion. Also, this is the screen I was looking at purchasing to replace the damaged screen: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-LCD-Touch-S...c0.m14&_trkparms=65:16|66:2|39:1|293:2|294:50 .

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it might have to do with the ribbon cable that goes to the screen.
Dave
I just had a similar problem. Dropped my work laptop right on my screen, corner first mind you haha...
I bought this http://cgi.ebay.com/US-LCD-Screen-D...trkparms=65:12|66:1|39:1|72:1234|293:2|294:25
and got it fixed no problem. Took about 2 hours of tearing it apart and reassembling to do.
The screen includes the cable so if that is the issue then you are still fine. The screen comes with the dissembler tool, and the security screwdrivers you will need.
See the Kaiser Wiki for full disassemble instructions that worked quite well for me.
bobtheamazing - can you let me know how is the quality of the new screen?
uzim289 if you bought yours - can you let me know how the quality of the screen is ?
and any personal advice if i decide to take mine apart. Thank you.
I took mine to Vegas, kept it in my pocket, it was sure hot and my screen cracked... need to replace but wasn't sure if i should spend $80 on a certain website of just go the route of ebay.
Before you buy another screen I would recommend taking the phone apart first and just checking to see if the connector is loose. How far of a drop was it and what kind of surface did it hit?

I got my replacement screen from here and it was the best decision. trust me. I replaced my screen about 4 months ago, and my Tilt is just fine.
I bought a replacement for my Kaiser at Marktplaats.nl but that's for the netherlands. Replaced the lcd according the video from Fonlogix. I uploaded the video allso a while ago to youtube which made it verry easy to replace and now it works like a charm again. You might whant to check THIS SITE for a replacement.
Good luck.
:Edit:
I just noticed Fonlogix is cheaper
I replaced my sons Tilt LCD been like 8 months now works perfect no issues!
Not that hard to replace the screen just have to keep a sharp eye out for the teeny tiny screws!
Anybody know where to get the 'teeny tiny' screws? As I was removing the job wheel assembly, the small silver-colored screw was stripped out. Funny, it was the correct screwdriver size and everything, and other screws came out fine.
Anyone knows where i can find it? Mine is slightly loose now, (after i opened it for changing the SD-card)
Any help is much appreciated.

I bought mine and didn't even touch it and there's a gap between the charger and the bottom cover of the phone where you can see the SIM card. Just a very poor design.
I have the same problem. I opened it to swap the sd card, and since then it doesn't close perfectly anymore.
I called htc about this, and they confirm that they only sell the upper part of the back cover. You can send it in, but then it'll cost you about 40 dollars for the fix, minus the shipping. I just ordered a silicone cover instead.
I just hope that they will start selling those bottom parts too.

I agree with you I have seen many review criticise this! There seems to be a poor quality control at HTC for the HD7, the gap to me looks like about 1mm that's not acceptable!
Fortunately I have been very luck my HD7 does not have that gap!
It's a shame ... seriously ... the back housing is not the only part of a low quality ...
Even the power button doesnt seem to work properly (after two week of usage!) and i have to press it really hard to get it to work.
and I also saw the "Tarnished camera button" in the other thread ...
HTC!!!! SERIOUSLY?!!!
my local HTC repair shop contacted a lot of people but was also unable to get the part. i am thinking of superglue right now ...
superglued down. no other option but its perfect now
The gap annoyed me after I upgraded it to 32GB... So I carefully sanded down some of the plastic lugs and superglued the bottom part to the body. Yup, I know it was quite drastic but at least I've ended up with a perfect HD7... And a voided warranty! It's a shame that HTC allowed this horrible gap. My old HD2 was much better finished.
As much as i'd like to post a link for some back covers for you all there seems to be a lack of spare parts for the moment . I did however find a coverall solution that although doesn't fix your phones will at least let you hold it together until we can buy some at a later date

If you don't like the look of those there are various ones available from the us http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_np...313&_nkw=hd7+casing&_sacat=See-All-Categories
I am in the UK and I have a Sony Xperia Z. I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version last week. I am with Vodafone on a Pay Monthly Contract.
I have noticed that there is a screen ripple on the left hand side and particularly a spot on the bottom left of the Xperia Z's screen when the left hand side is squeezed. This is particularly noticeable on a white background like when on the Contacts screen. This ripple also happens when the back of the phone is pressed.
This ripple is not too much of a problem but can be noticed at times as my phone has a case on it and I have to squeeze moderately on the sides to adjust the volume button. Also I am a little concerning that the ripple effect might be causing some sort of long term damage to the phone.
I have contacted Sony about this they have offered to look at the phone but they did not say whether this is an inherent problem with the phone or if it could be fixed. I am not particularly happy about sending the phone away to them as I am not sure about how much they can do to repair it.
In the meantime I walked into a Vodafone shop and tried another Xperia Z and it had exactly the same problems with ripples on the screen as mine! So perhaps it is an expected part of the very thin design of the Xperia Z phone. I have also noted the other short thread on this forum about this issue which suggest some other users are experiencing this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194018
What do other Xperia Z owners think? Do you experience these screen ripples and are they to be expected
Del
Even m having the same issue left and right side.both only when I pressed it tightly. Otherwise all good....they told itz bcz of thin design nothing to worry.....

Thanks for your reply. Yes I thought the screen ripples might be because of the very thin design.
Its a shame Sony did not say something like this when I emailed them about this issue. They just said one of their engineers needed to look at the phone. I am reluctant to send it away to Sony as I don't think they can do anything about it as it appears to be an inherent part of the design.
It may be best for me to live with the slight problem.
i got it too i thought it's a problem with my device
I just squeezed the crap out of my phone and nothing happened. Tried it out of my case too.
maybe its only on sharp screens

I have just checked my display manufactuer and it looks like it is JDC! Interesting suggestion that the reaction of the phone might be different depending on the maker of the display.
On mine the display ripples on the left hand side are present in the middle left hand side of the screen as well as the bottom. They are not present on the right hand side.
Hi,
My Z3C must've randomly lost part of the bottom bezel at some point - I still don't understand why and how.
Phone was always in a TPU bumper case so it can't fall off or out. Must've gotten loose and dropped at some point when I removed the bumper to remove the sim card.

The part that's missing is the edge part between bottom bezel and SIM card flap.
Phone was just sent in for repair for another issue(vibration more had a loose connection) and I got it back without issues..but that part of the bezel is still missing. Didn't mention it when it was repaired in fear of Sony denying a warranty repair.
Fixing it would be 5s job with super glue....so any idea where and how to get that part ?
Did lots of googling but couldn't find anything.
Only other option I could think of would be buying a broken/dead Z3C and ripping that bezel piece off.
youll probably have to get the whole frame
Seems like a waste. The small part that's missing ist just glued on.
Guess I'll have to look for a broken Z3C to get the spare part.
Are there Showroom models of the Z3C ? Like they have in shops sometimes, just the exterior without any electronics inside.
*Edit* Oh ok now I realize what you meant.

Didn't expect the entire frame to be that cheap! Thanks m8.
I have a lot of it but if You live outside EU shipping can be more expensive than those fram on eBay.
I do live in the EU but allready ordered the ebay bezel.
Thanks though, might help out the next guy.
No problem. I have a lot of it cause whole frame is a trash after changing whole screen using original part. Anyway good advice for You - change only bumpers You need, not the whole frame. If You don't have knowledge hot to remove screen safety just skip it.
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact using XDA Labs
So this happened a 2 weeks ago, I did not have the time to write about it nor did I really care much as its hand-able.
I went to the pool with my wife and son and I decided to take pictures with the new S6 Active I bought from a retailer.
I previously had the S4 Active which I used for 5 years and to this date is an amazing phone, so I decided to switch over to a more powerful phone as I was noticing some lag and stuttering on my S4 active. I love the rugged design of the Active series.
Before entering the pool I made sure everything was sealed tight, I even had a Rugged Case around the phone, making it even more bulkier. I removed the case first and made sure everything was sealed tight, not much to check as the back cover is not remove-able.
While entering the pool, I walked over to my family and dipped the phone in water to prepare it for some underwater photography when it started blinking white after a few seconds beneath water. I instantly turned off the phone put it into my bag, and when I got home, disassembled the phone and dried the phone down, not much water if any at all was in the phone but I let it dry for a day, and then later blow dried it just to make sure,
After putting the phone together, the screen display color was dimmed even tho the bar was at the highest possible strength. After a few restarts it was back to normal. But the Gyroscope on the phone is not working, or any of the smart features, sensors. etc. The recently used tab button was not working, but after the few restarts it started working but the back button stopped.
I tried opening it again once more, wiping it down with a microfiber towel and blow drying it once more. Disassembled the phone completely besides removing the chips and basically nuked everything to the temp where it was untouchable. But to no avail.
I was just wanting any other tips, that might work before I order a new mobo and port as it's only going to cost me around $30 but the shipping is annoying as it takes up to a month to deliver to my location. Thanks in advance.
Have you check sim tray
Hello i also buy from a retailer, but when it arriver i check my sim tray it is missing the ruber that is on sim tray so water enters...
