I don't know if its the same as htc-samsung.
Previously i have an x10 mini; and now a SP.
Official sony kernels has ftf kernels, and u need flashtool to flash (the same like x10mini - x8)
cyanogenmod in sony uses .img kernels; and u can flash via flashtool or via cwm.

Sony official kernels are ftfs which contain a single boot.img file, and all android kernels are in a boot.img file

I think there's a mistake In installation guide
But since the ftf file is 140 MB I'm sure that it's the whole rom & no need of CWM just flash via flashtool

You will now be running semc debrand by achotang
for freexperia mod u can flash his modified ROM through cwm after semc ROM through flash tool. Or use naa 14 with freexperia.

Stock kernel

Where can i get the stock kernel for the xperia z? Sorry for this thread
Use flash tool to flash it.
Just flash the kernel only not the whole stock Rom
Flash it without wiping any data.

Support for 2.245

Hi.
I have got my so rooted and unlocked and have wanted to put a custom ROM on.
But every single one says just support for 2.254 firmware not my 2.245 firmware.
Will it still work or would it brick

It not safe to cross flash it will probably bootloop..i would suggest u to flash 2.254..and get it rooted and custom recovery installed.
Happy flashing

Is that possible as 2.245 is my only available software to update too

2.245
Dear Freind
Roms like pureness 1 and Honamiutreized are strictly firmware specific that is why, i think those developers specifically state do not flash this over other firmware variants that will cause problems and this is because those developers have heavily modded the latest firmware to add more tweaks to give advanced user experience hence that ROM may not be compatible on older firmwares.
But probably you can find Custom Roms (Like Cleaned and Tweaked Rom, JBXSP Rom, Project AOSP Rom) based on 2.245, just go to respective threads and check, you will find that the most of the ROMs' version 2 or 3 should be based on 2.245 firmware.
Try and enjoy customs roms.
No if you check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311964 you can find many FTF for 2.254 which can be flashed using Flashtool and have latest firmware and flash latest ROMs based on 2.254 without any problem.

Hey buddy,
Don't cross flash .254 FW over .245 FW.
Just use flashtool to flash the .254 FW. It is easy, and there are many guides to do it. Once you know how to use flashtool, your phone also automatically becomes unbrickable as you know how to flash back the stock FW even if you somehow softbricked your phone.
Also, don't post questions in the development section. This is for ROMs and Kernels and stuff, there's no place for questions here. Go to the Q&A section instead next time.
Happy flashing (ROMs and kernels, not anything else )

Installing Ultimate Pure XZ Rom

Hello,
It's about this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-ultimate-purexz-v1-t2759467?nocache=1
is it possible to flash this rom via flashtool only or do i need recovery to flash this rom. Now i'm on 4.4.2 .230 stock without root an cwm/twrp. Last time i manually updatet my xperia to the newest rom, which was the 4.4.2, i just flashed the stock rom over the existing rom. After that i did a factory reset.
Thanks a lot for help
