hey guys, recently i made a very big mistake of installing the new 4.4 google search for my XP and it somehow corrupted my Xperia home.apk
or home.apk whichever it was...
Now i can't access to the home launcher of Xperia....
it keeps saying *Select launcher which is being use after unlock*. message.
Could someone please upload there Xperia Home.apk or Home.apk(whatever it is called)
Stock launcher.
My Xperia SP running .254
Thank you very much for your time =D:laugh:

ok, if not you can also temporarily use another launcher you'll get in the play store. Just to have any launcher. if you can't get into play store try it with your computer?! or try to repair with sus if that goes right
try to make an rom/zip of the apk to flash to the system via cwm (i'm not fimiliar with making those files, but there must be an description)
To get the zip connect the phone to your pc and move it to your internal storage or sd card and get into recovery

Not quiet sure about using CWM, all i know is how to flash, haahha
Well thanks for your effort, but i think i will be using the SUS recover method.
Download the deodex ROM from alinov (not sure how to type the name :silly: )
Take from /system/app the HOME.APK
Put the Xperia Home app in the adb folder and type:
Adb shell
Su (root it needed here)
push home.apk /system/app
shell chmod 644 /system/app/home.apk
reboot
did it function?

You need to be rooted, at least to be able to use AntTek and Root Uninstaller, and no, you won't loose it in case of FW update, unless the upgrade is for the camera too... but the process is fast. 5 minutes and its done

Thanks Dude, but did download the ICS Camera, to take pictures without shutter sound.
Ruedas, a rooted phone doesnt receive OTA updates, right?
strange thing that i downloaded the apk, tried to install it but wouldnt work even after changing permissions. Had no camera forawhile. Downloaded the stock apk, just copy and pasted it in the folder and all of a sudden i have my camera back with no shutter sound...no idea why but thanks
I'm trying my best to fix (IOW; mute) the shutter sound on my GF's O4X. While I believe I understand how this is done, I'm not able to actually get it done.
I've managed to get the phone rooted (thanks to alexp999's simple to follow guide). If I've understood things correctly; I now need to replace the original camera.apk with the modified one found in this thread.
Problem is that, in the /system/app folder, both renaming files (the old camera.apk) and copying files (the new camera.apk) to the folder fails.
Anyone able to see what I'm missing / doing wrong? Any help would be thoroughly appreciated!..

Thanks for the reply and suggestion RuedasLocas!
Titanium Backup seems to have the option to uninstall system apps, I'll give that a go. Would however like to figure out how to copy files to the system/app folder before I do that (given that this is required to re-install/enable the camera). Have tried with both ES File Manager and Total Commander; both have been given SU-privelages, both are able to browse to the folder, neither is able to copy files to or rename files in the folder...

Tried AnTek Explorer; What an interesting file manager! Will have to test this for a longer period of time, could possibly become my new goto file manager. Thanks for the tip!..
Though I couldn't get the new/modified camera.apk to the system/app directory. Have double-checked that "Native mode" is enabled within AnTek and that its (permanently) enabled in SuperSU. Not sure how I can give an app even more permissions...

Just reboot the phone and it should be enough.
Some apps need a reboot to work properly.

Thanks for all the help! Rebooting allowed me to rename files. Then I finally figured out why copying files to the system folder failed (or at least partly); For reasons unknown to me, I weren't allowed to copy/move files directly from the external_sd card to the system/app directory, Had to first move the to an internal location, then I could move then to the desired location!
End result; The annoying shutter sound is gone! :victory:
Again; Thanks for all the help!

try changing the .dbk file to .zip and extract it, if you see a .xml file put it into your sdcard and download "super backup" from playstore and restore from there. If that doesnt work rename the .zip file to .xml and move it to sd card and use super backup to restore.

Again I'm not the dev of these custom recovery. Just that I pack them together and modified a theme to work with our ZR phone.
Installation procedure:
1. Just unzip lockeddualrecovery2.6.0-RELEASE.windows.zip in your PC and run either supersu.bat or superuser.bat.
2. After all files are installed, your phone should reboot automatically into CWM.
3. If you're unable to see CWM and your phone just reboot normally to Android, then you might be suffering from remount-reboot issue. Just run the fix for remount-reboot first.
How to enter CWM/TWRP:
1. During a reboot, when the LED turns green, press VOL-UP for CWM or VOL-DOWN for TWRP. The LED will then turn purple before entering the selected custom recovery.
How to apply the proper theme in TWRP to fix UI issue:
1. Copy the TWRP_theme_720_play.zip into /sdcard/TWRP/theme and rename it as ui.zip
How to restore stock recovery
1. Delete the following files:
/system/bin/recovery.twrp.cpio.lzma (or .tar)
/system/bin/recovery.cwm.cpio.lzma (or .tar)
/system/bin/charger
/system/bin/ric
/system/bin/chargemon
/system/bin/dualrecovery.sh
2. Inside /system/bin/ rename chargemon.stock to chargemon
3. Change permission for chargemon (chmod 755 chargemon)
Credits:
- Team Win for TWRP
- ClockWorkMod for CWM
- z31s1g for the beautiful Holofied theme. I only rescaled some images and edit the xml for 720p display.
excuse me for my ignorance noobish question, but why do we need a dual boot recovery? whats special about twrp if we already have a fine working cwm? or perhaps if one prefers twrp why whould be need both?

TWRP folder is on internal sd card so i copy the ui.zip into internal sd/TWRP/theme.
But when i entering into TWRP mode, i can only see the partial screen which contain install, wipe and backup buttons in big icon.
And no way to get out of recovery mode except removing the battery.

So it seems TWRP is unable to read the theme file. Can you check if your ui.zip file is corrupted?

The IMEI is not supossed to change, is your phone's UINIQUE number. Try editing the build.prop for model number and see if it works for you.

Try this
Take the build.prop from the system folder and copy it in your internal storage
Now in pc open buil.prop from internal storage
Do the required editing in notepad or notepad ++
Save it
Now using root explorer copy the edited buil.prop to system folder with permissions rw-r-r

You used file explorer to check out your /system/media folder right? which one? But if you delete something there it not supposed to be there if you have correct rw permission there. I first think that it could be problem with bootanimation you try to install but if you can't delete something there for good I guess first look at your permission to write that folder.

Root again. Use "Easy Root Tool". If it stuck cleaning part just run it again and you should be good.
I was trying to change Xperia S bootanimation last year. Ending up to find that problem is much deeper then basic root and root explorer.
Didn't find the way how to apply custom one.
As I remember is somehow connected with bootloader or kernel
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
Don't know about Xperia S but with Z1 I can change bootanimation. I use X-plore by Lonely Cat Games with r/w rights and have zero problems.
I would suggest you do not have root.
Check if you have killed the ric.
Goto sys/kernel/security/Sony_ric and see if the file called enable says 0 or 1. Also check it just after a reboot.
If it's a 1 you will lose write permissions to the system partition after a reboot, which explains the symptoms you are talking about.
Changing the boot animation had nothing to do with kernel or bootloader, you just have to change the bootamimation.zip in system /media
