Please help me, I don't want to be stuck with stock android one. Its a flint mobile of keyboards. I try to set the hackers one as default, and it does however the android one retains the bullet next to it, only becomes greyed out. So I get both Hackers selected orange/highlighted yet also android one. I can't unselect it, and when I type, the android one keep showing up. Its a very big issue for me, I type a lot, and I need a keyboard that's usable for more than lol,,, c u, sup type language.
How are you trying to switch keyboards? The stock keyboard has a check next to it greyed out, but if you have the box checked on the hackers keyboard, then it should be selectable as the default. You select the default in the notification area at the top of the screen when you open something to type.

Since I rooted my Nook color this morning, when I am in the browser and go to type in a box, instead of pulling up the keyboard on half the screen and leaving the browser window on top, it pulls up the large text typing box. Is there a way I can restore this so I can see the browser too? I've poked around in the settings and tried searching for keyboards in the forums, but that came up with a zillion results.
This is for when browsing in landscape mode. (Vertical seems to be working fine.) I've tried changing from the default browser to Skyfire, but no luck.
Many keyboards are just like that, unfortunately. I know that SlideIT actually lets you see the browser when in landscape, though. You could give that or another keyboard a try.

If your willing to pay......
Better Keyboard Pro version 8 has an option to Resize the keyboard, there is also a free version but I'm not sure if it has that option. (was trying to upload a pic so you could see but not enough posts yet)
The Gingerbread keyboard displays correctly in landscape mode. There are several threads with information, including a download link to an apk that works for 2.1
If you prefer your current keyboard for portrait typing, there is an app on the market called Keyboard Manager that will change your keyboard automatically based on device orientation.
Hi
I recently bought a keyboard dock ECR-K10D for my tab.The keyboard works fine.Except when i use it for Thinkfree Office.I am able to use it to create new documents & type accordingly. However, when i try to create a new spreadsheet & type in it there's no input registered, i have to tap the screen & then only the characters are registered as an input. I thought it was a software issue but the touch type keyboard works fine onscreen.the "issue" happens only when I dock the tab in the keyboard dock. Anyone out there facing anything similar or shud i try another office app?
I just picked up that keyboard as well a few days ago. Only spent about 20min on it thus far. Seem to work fine as far as nav around the home screens and menu. Only tried a note app for a moment to try out the typing and it was perfect. My keyboard is at work, so tomarrow I will try it out in a speadsheet of thinkfree. I will get back to you then.
I did see one issue. Some times when I undock from the keyboard, and then redock a few minutes later, the keyboard does not want to work. It makes the sound as if has docked, but nothing. I can undock and redock once or twice to get it back working. My settings are set to the keyboard and not Swipe. (just like the manual recomended) No biggie just can be a hassel. Have you run in to this?(or has anyone else that may be reading?)

Grem,
Your 100% correct. I comfirm that the keyboard does not work for inputting data in cells of the spreadsheet program of Thinkfree. The word processor program of Thinkfree works great with the keyboard from what I can tell.
Well, hopefully we will not run in to this very often with other apps.

I'm using evenbetter keyboard now. My problem is that every time I reboot my phone, I always have to have re-activate it so I can use it. I want to flash it, but its an apk. Anyone knows how to do this?
I also like the stock keyboard, T9 style. but the buttons are too small. I want to modify it but I don't know how to, if there are tutorials out there about programming for android, I'll gladly study it. the stock keyboard also has a bug: when you are on symbols mode, then you swipe down to browse and you reached the bottom this way, the keyboard gets stuck. you won't be able to press any symbols then. I also want to address this.
thanks=)
If it is on your Sd card you need to activate it every boot.
And if you want to have it like a system app use apps2rom from Google Play

What tips do you guys have after purchasing the Note? e.g. Apps? Synching information from your old phone to your new? Apps to store all social networking information? (Instead of using Samsung Hub, Or other Hubs) Settings to change?
My personal question however is how do you get spell check to come up when you type an incorrect word? Nothing actually shows up it seems compared to my HTC Desire HD keypad entry it seems slightly more dumber, the comma isn't immediately accessible, if I go into any other section and hit space instead of reverting back to letters it stays on characters/numbers. It doesn't have auto correct enabled.
You should try GOKeyboard

Ok I have changed in settings keyboard and language to swype but it keeps reverting back to the google keyboard I prefer Swype but cannot get it to stick any one have any suggestions??
Go into a text input field in any app so that the keyboard comes up. Next, swipe down the notification bar and in the list you should have an item that says "choose input method". Tap on that and change your keyboard. See if that sticks.

Go into the settings for Language and Input.
There's an area to specify which of your keyboards should be the default one.
Select Swype there and you're golden.
Thanks guys it still reverts back though
I use an app called SwiftKey which seems quite a bit more accurate compared to Google Swype and it does your dictionary in the cloud if you ever change phones.
