Hello Legends!

I recently bought "Sony Z1 C6903 Unlocked International Vesion LTE" with Android 4.3 JB. but I willing to Root My phone and Read many articles about it but I am in still confusion; what should i Do "ROOT first and unlocked boot loader --or-- Unlocked Boot-loader first and root?"
Also Planning to upgrade to 4.4 KitKat. so, which will be the better to Root 4.3 JB --or-- 4.4 KitKat ?
Hoping you guys will help me on this matter :fingers-crossed:

Actually, I wanted to Flash Custom ROM on my Device but many article says: "Unlocking the boot loader allows you to put custom ROMs on your device" It is true ?
Regards,
Clasher_RS
It depends if the custom rom needs a custom kernel, some do, some don't
But in general, if you find the custom rom in the development section you only need root and not an unlocked bootloader, but if it is in the original development section then you need an unlocked bootloader as that rom requires a custom kernel.

[Q] Can I Upgrade from 4.4 and Keep Root?

I am currently rooted running Android 4.4 on my XT1060 with a locked bootloader. Can I upgrade to a newer version of android and keep root?

The short answer is no. You can not update past 4.4 and have permanent root and write-protect-disable.
The LONG answer is that IF (and only if) you never took the OTA to 4.4.2, there IS a way to run a "Stock-based, Safestrap-compatible 4.4.2 ROM".
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/rom-vzw-rooted-4-4-2-locked-bootloaders-t2672840
You will have to follow the instructions linked in that post EXACTLY. One simple mistake, and you will either:
1. Have a BRICK
or
2. Lose write-protect-disable and permanent root -forever-
Be extremely careful if you decide to do this, and realize that you won't -actually- be on 4.4.2 as you will still be running on the pre-4.4.2 bootloader and gpt.bin.
Good Luck
That's exactly what I wanted to know! Thanks for the speedy response. Hopefully with 4.4.4 coming out soon, someone will find a way to unlock the non-developer Moto X bootloader and give non-Google/Motorola developers real access to this great device!

You might want to consider checking the thread titled "China Middleman Back?"
This guy is selling bootloader unlock codes for the locked variants including verizon. It is Extremely unlikely that a bootloader-unlock exploit will EVER come along for the X....like 99.99% unlikely. Dan Rosenburg, author the the famous "Razr M bootloader exploit" has said himself that chances are almost zero that anyone will ever exploit these extremely well-coded bootloaders.
The China method costs $45, and he may or may not have your code, but its worth a shot! If he doesn't have your code, you get refunded. So no risk really. The bootloader-unlock is permanent and is FAR superior to using these exploits and safestrap-roms.
Good Luck, glad to help.

Bootloader

OK I know this should be in the question section, but this section gets more traffic.
Has anyone checked the S4 Bootloader unlock methods with the new update from ATT

There are no S4 bootloader unlock methods, so there's nothing to try.
Then why can you install Cyanogen Mod on the AT&T S4? At least I thought you could. I'll do more research. I am just really wanting CM11 on my phone.

You cannot install CM on the AT&T S4 (i337), the bootloader is locked. There was a point over a year ago where there was an exploit for the bootloader that would allow you to install any ROM known as Loki. But that was patched with the very first update AT&T pushed out. There are very few people who still have that version.
The S4 Active was released after that vulnerability had been patched, so there was never a version of the Active where you could install custom ROMs.
If you want an unlocked bootloader, buy an international version of the phone you want, never buy a phone branded by either AT&T or Verizon. You're only other option with the i537 is to install SafeStrap, you will be able to install TouchWiz-based custom ROMs, but no CM and no AOSP.

An unlocked bootloader is required for root, and Samsung Snapdragon devices are typically not bootloader unlockable.
Enable Developer Options; do you see OEM Unlocking?
hi and thanks for the reply,
Unfortunatly nope... no OEM unlocking..
Since it's already unlocked, i guess it's only carrier unlocked and not factory unlocked, is that right?
I think theres no other way to flash a custom rom, other then by rooting it first, right? or is there other methods without rooting it?
on that thread, lots of discussion about it, and they claim its now possible to unlock snaps https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/snapdragon-root-legit.3966208/#post-84715421
As replied on that thread, there was a root process for older BL versions. Current/updated phones cannot be rooted at this time. If you do root an older BL, you were also stuck at that level - you could not patch or upgrade to newer versions (OS or security patch levels).
Check out the first reply on the second page of the thread you linked..
