[Q] Updated One to 4.3 ota - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Didn't realize I couldn't obtain s off or root the device until after updating to 4.3 full stock. Is it possible for me to still root and obtain s off? Thanks for the help!

You can root your device no matter what update you did. you can use tool kit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38963689&postcount=1
But to S-off your device the HBOOT version matters
Currently S-OFF is available for hboot 1.44 and 1.54
if you got Hboot version 1.55 you will have to wait

Check http://rumrunner.us/ downloads, there are packages for 3.x already out.

Thanks for the replies.
I have the att HTC one. Does that mean only the att forums are relevant to me? Or can I also use HTC one forums and development?

No, you can refer to other forums too. For instance, the rom i am currently using, ARHD(link in my signature), is located in HTC one section, not ATT r any carrier specific forum, but that rom can be flashed on ATT devices too. Similarly other kernels and ofcourse, apps and themes section too

Rumrunner worked perfectly for me on stock 4.3 hboot 1.55. You have to unlock the bootloader first (I used htcdev unlock) and I now have S-OFF, unlocked bootloader, and full root and removed tampered warning.

How to S-Off after ICS update

Hey guys, my HTC Incredible S today gets an ICS OTA update. I have updated it. The version has become 4.0.4.
I have never S-Off or Root my device at all. My Hboot 2.02 and locked. Now I want to root my device.
Can anyone tell me how many ways I can S-Off my device? Are there any other ways beside HTCDev Unlock?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you guys soon.
There is a guide in development called All in one for noobs made by me. That's as easy as your gonna get if you want s off

Thanks for your reply. I have read through your post. However, I saw the topic is for 1.16 and 2.0. That's why I feel reluctant whether my hboot is 2.02 which is higher than the topic you posted.
So you mean I can do it by your instructions?

Well since you have upgraded your HBOOT to 2.02.0002, the HTCDEV unlock method is your only choice right now. The tacoroot exploit that is used with the downgrade script does not work with HBOOT 2.02.0002.
Can you tell me how to get s-off after unlocking by HTCdev? As I know, it just unlock the device, cut the security is still on.

With the HTCDEV option you will be able to install custom recovery and then root the current ROM by installing su-3.1.3.zip, but you will not gain S-OFF.
Technically there is a difference, but people tend to use the terms interchangably.
Thank you for your suggestions.

HBOOT 1.55 (with 4.2.2 update) non-touch recovery?

Hey there
I recently updated to 4.2.2 and of course it updated my HBOOT to 1.55. Unfortunately now no custom recovery has touch feed back. Is that a known issue or is there something wrong with my device? I am talking about TWRP and CWM specifically.
Thanks

You need to update to TWRP or CWM from the threads in the Original Development forum. The TWRP and CWM found on their respective sites is not up to date with the HTC One's latest touch driver.

Oh wow! I wish I knew that before I went ahead and rooted the device. I did make a Nandroid Backup using non-touch CWM recovery of the stock, unrooted ROM, however. Thank you! I will be installing the latest TWRP in the Original Android Development section once I find it.
Yep, the latest version of CWM-touch on One Original Development works! Thank you.

Not yet - the tool hasn't been released, but users have confirmed that one exists, and when the creator is ready it will be released for the masses.
So when intramorph quoted the OP saying he is on 1.54 he said get s-off while you can but then you can't yet anyway?

That's correct. Currently RELEASED s-off techniques ONLY work on hboot 1.44. Users in other threads (beta testers) have confirmed that there is a solution that works for hboot 1.54 (i think @beaups created it), but it has not yet been released to the public.
Fair enough just gotta wait then don't want to root until I have a way to go back to unroot and locked bootloader. Cheers

Yes it looks like it's been released on rumrunner's site. The 2.24 builds brought hboot 1.54, so it should now work.

To flash a custom rom, you need to unlock your device via htc-dev. I'll put a tutorial video link below.
If you already have the 4.2.2 update, don't worry about new firmware for now. Otherwise, you don't need S-OFF depending on your CID to flash the custom 4.2.2 rom and firmware.
To do a rom swap, you don't need new firmware unless it's a newer base which also got a firmware update from htc
More details about firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823

So he can unlock the bootloader and go s-off

So, turn off your phone and longpress power + vol- and when it reboot in bootloader read the hboot.
After reboot in android with the "reboot" line, for move the cursor you have to use the vol buttons

I think it's not needed, but I'm not 100% sure on this one.
I used 4.3 firmware on 4.2.2 before, but it was a custom pack (this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2391611) so I'm not sure if the official one would work

How to Install stock Sense Rom on Google Play Edition

Hi I have the HTC one gpe rooted and with Twrp and I would like to test the new stock Sense 5 Rom with Android 4.3.
I have been following the guide from a website called

Also I have hboot 1.54 and s-on

I thought you knew by now that rumrunner isn't hboot dependent.
