[Q] Stuck in twrp and can't shut down device - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I decided to try installing a custom rom and everything today after a long haitus and I unlocked it just fine. Then I followed qbking77 on youtube's video and it all was going fine, only problem is that I accidentally used the 2.5 twrp file instead of the new 2.6.3 and now my screen is unresponsive and when I hold the power button to shut it off i just get the back and home button to start flashing. And obviously with it being solid body I can't remove the battery to get it back into bootloader mode.... need help please

Put the phone under a strong light and longpress power and vol- for 15 sec.
Your phone will reboot in bootloader.

figured it out somewhere else. just hold the power and volume down for a long time and hold it in front of a bright light, something about the proximity sensor

Just keep holding it, it takes a bit. The capacitive buttons will flash for a bit but keep holding it and it'll go dark eventually, then try try again. I think it took my six tries for trickdroid with full revovery wipes in between each one...

the capacitive buttons light up but still it doesn't turn off. I'm at the part where it says mounting partitions
I had this problem too. What you have to do is have the all in one toolkit and plug your phone to you computer. Then open the toolkit and press "reboot into recovery" it should reboot your phone back to recovery mode. Then proceed to installing your Rom. Remember to not use the touchscreen at ALL when using aroma or your phone will freeze up

aroma has a nasty issue right now where you can use the touch screen to make your selections for options and stuff, BUT sometimes(more often than not) the aroma app will freeze. even if you dont use the touch screen and use the vol/power buttons to make your selections it has more like a 15% to freeze. It has something to do with the way their database is setup i think. if all else fails and your phone freezes. hold down the power button for roughly 15 seconds. this simulates a battery pull. while holding down the power button you should see your back and home buttons flash. Once the flashing has stopped it means the phone should be off. at that point push the power button again for like .5 seconds and the phone should power on. if you want to get into the bootloader to access recovery hold down the vol down button while pushing the power button for the .5 seconds and it should load the bootloader and you can select to enter recovery.
someone else feels my pain. This happened to me Saturday. No matter what my phone wouldn't shut off and adb wouldn't work. I had to just let the battery die.

My friends I have found a fix. Refer to my post in this thread.

You need to hold the sensor in front of a very bright light source (did mine in front of a light bulb) and THEN hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
It will reboot. I can almost guarantee it. :good:

[Q] Can't restart non-booting device!

Hi
ReVolt ROM is stuck on the flash screen on second boot up.
Long press of power button does nothing but flash buttons no matter how long I hold it for!
Phone isn't showing as connected to PC either so cannot use adb commands.
Do I have to wait for the thing to die??? If so thats annoying as its at 91%
Umh, for which version of One is this rom?
However, re-try with longpress of Power button
International. CID is HTC_001.
Tried power again. Held for about 20 seconds... Nothing.
Can you share the link of the rom?
I can't see it in htc one section...

Shine a bright light at the phone and hold down power for 20 seconds Seriously
Right... Seriously... How the hell did that work???? I'm stunned. Brilliant.
its becoming a known fact that putting it under a light while holding button combo is a real solution. it has something to do with the sensors to prevent an accidental button combo while in a pocket or bag

[Q] stuck in twrp recovery

hi guys, im having a problem, have had the htc one for 2-3 weeks now and only got round to modding today, i wanted to install android revolution hd, having used it on previous htc phones i have used, although my last was over a year ago. So everything i have done today is based on the stock 4.2.2 rom. I have gained h-off through htcdev.com and have installed superuser and unchecked fastboot in the power settings. my issue is with touch recovery, i initially tried clockwork mod but when getting to the installing the rom the touch functionality did not work but through cwm i was able to use the volume buttons and power to exit in order to reboot the phone, i then installed twrp recovery, booted into recovery and stuck at the main screen, this recovery appears to be 100% touch so I am stuck at the main screen of recovery, i have tried rebooting by holding the power button for 10+ seconds but the back and home buttons just flash and the phone does not reboot, when the screen turns off and back on i have a lock symbol and it says swipe to unlock which wont work. my phones battery is at 94% and the only think i can think off is allowing the phone to drain completely and then it will boot as normal to continue trying to flash, but being in recovery it could take 4-5 days atleast for that to happen and when it does eventually drain i will be in the same position of being unable to use touch recovery (i also tried cwm without touch but the android revolution hd installer is still touch operated which also does not work.)
please help
put your phone under a bright light while holding power + volume down for about 30 seconds. it'll reboot

Yes it works. POWER + VOLDOWN (under a bright light or flashlight): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484462&page=2
FIX!
You must hold the phones ambient sensor under direct light (1 cm under a bulb), whilst doing this, continually hold the power + volume down button until the phone reboots, this may take up to 2 minutes, don't give up! This method worked for me.

Phone Wont Boot, Flashing Home and Back Buttons, Red LED

I tried to update my rooted HTC One but it seems that something went wrong. The phone will not boot. When I hold down the power button the home and back buttons start to flash. I have tried to boot into the bootloader by holding the power button until the home and back buttons stop flashing but all that does is turn the red LED on and the screen stays black. How do I fix this so I can use my phone again?

The buttons are supposed to flash when you hold down the power button. After the buttons stop flashing, quickly release and then hold the power + vol down buttons. That should work unless something really got messed up.
adb

ADB isn't working?

[help] clarification needed with the different combinations of buttons during boot.

I have an xperia z with unlocked bootloader and recently flashed a customised 5.1.1 rom, observing that the phone was overheating abnormally (60°c with only a few apps running) I thought a wipe and reset would help me, so got into recovery (twrp) wiped data and cache without touching internal.
Once done I dint see it telling me that SuperSU is missing and accidentally skipped it (I already have root) . The phone started rebooting and went blank. I think the only option is to flash stock again but I wanted a clarification on the use of buttons..
Vol+ + power restarts it again to the blank screen.
Vol- + power or vol+ + power to start the phone again lands me to blank screen after logo
Now to turn it off again Im holding all the three buttons, it vibrates once and reboots if I leave , if I still hold it after one vibration, it now vibrates three times and turns off.
Can anyone explain what exactly are these vibes in the last point , is it kind of a reset , can it help me any way in the future? (I'm still a noob, I just follow the instructions and have used a lots of roms on lots of phones)
I'm soooo sorry for making it a long story, its my first question..
Welcome
Because XZ doesn't have removable battery buttons combination is kinda way of pulling battery out. You only hold power button and volume up together, first vibration is rebooting device, and if you hold little more until you feel 3 vibrations it's power off, as you find out your self.
All the Best.

Oh thank you
So I don't have to be further trying to mess with the buttons and just flash a fresh rom. Thanks
