Does anyone have any problems with facebook notifications not appearing on the active display? Everything else seems to be working fine like my sms, email, calendar, but i'm not getting any facebook notifications to it. Also is there a way to extend how long a display shows up on a screen?

not sure about the 2nd question. Are you sure you have facebook set up in touchless controls to show up. You can select which apps show up in touchless controls and which don't
I think i found the problem. Facebook was checked in the settings. I did two things, not sure which worked. I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. And I changed the account from my phone number to my email address and its working now. Maybe i added facebook before i set up the active display and it didn't get added properly.

The dates from facebook that go into my calender are showing up in my calender a few hours off. Ive tried other calendars, and it doesnt seem to help. Right now im using Pure Calender. An event on facebook that starts at 4pm is showing up on my device as 9am. Anyone know whats going on? Ive already tried messing with the timezone on my computer and facebook.
It's a timezone problem with Facebook. The only solution I've found is directly importing my FB events to google calender and just getting them from there.
How do you import the facebook events into google? I think I need to mention that the times only show up incorrect when they are on a widget calender that I have placed on my home screen. The actual calender itself shows them correctly, just the widgets ive used show them hours off.
I have this issue when syncing the TouchWiz calendar with Google calendar. My times is off by one hour, so I checked the timezone settings on both the phone and google's, but none of them were the issue. I still haven't found a solution.
I also replaced the Touchwiz calendar with the stock android calendar, but I still have the same issue.
Any other ideas?
I have same issue on my HTC Desire (2.2). Would be cool if Facebook added time-zone functionality for their events, or if someone made it possible to chose an off-set on your device for Facebook events before importing them into calendar.
You can export Facebook events and/or birthdays and import them into Google calendar with FB application called Fdcal (it has time-zone option). Application is not working flawlessly, I got my events to show into Google calendar, but couldn't export birthdays for some reason.
But this will not solve your issues, because there was no way I could get those events to show on my phone. In Gemini calendar you get an option to check on those additional calendar subscribed on your Google one, but they don't show in my phone either for some reason.
The only workaround I found so far is that once those event show in Google calendar, you can easily duplicate them (save them as Google calendar entries), and those will show once the sync kicks in.
I'm waiting for someone to come up with easier solution

i'm having the same issue, the event is 8 hrs late when it appear in my SGS calendar
Has anyone already solved this problem?
I'm having the same issue with my SGS and the XXJPO firmware.
Well I haven't done anything, but problem IS solved on my HTC Desire for quite some time now. Can't say exactly when it was fixed (or if it was fixed by HTC or Facebook), but event times in my stock calendar that is synced with Facebook are now ok.
On my Touchwiz-Calendar it's working fine, too.
Just in every calendar widget I tried so far, the facebook events are shifted by one hour.
So I am in the time zone GMT+1 but the event gets displayed like I would be in GMT+0.
As a workaround I switched the time zone in my phone to GMT+0, so now the times for the fb-events are correct, but this is causing other problems now.
I have the sync checked and everything, but when I go the google calender through my computer it is blank. Any suggestions for why it isn't working. It problem something stupid I haven't done.
Underneath the date where it says calendar, did you choose your acount instead of my calendar? Sorry if that seems insulting, we just have to rule out the obvious first.
I have both checked. And don't worry about insulting me. Like I said, it is probably something stupid.
Was sync ever working? What changes have you made to your phone (e.g. new firmware)?
Your settings seem fine.

No special rom or anything and synchas never worked. I tried unchecking and checking the thing again. Didn't work. What its weird is that the info shows up on the launcher pro + calender widget. It seems to be missing some events though.
As I understand this - your calendar is displaying correctly on the phone, but not on your computer?
When you create a new calendar entry on the phone, are you making sure that it is placing it in the google calendar and not "my calendar" - you have to change this as "my calendar" is the default and does not sync to google calendars.
So my calendar will not sync with my google calendar? I have to do it with each event manually? I thought that if the syncing was set up to sync with my google calendar, that it would.... sync with it. Or does it only work one way? Google calendar to my calendar, but not the other way around?
It sounds like you might not have background and auto sync enabled, do you know if you do?
In the calendar app, as mentioned before, make sure you're selecting "[email protected]" rather than My Calendar (its annoying to me, seems like they should sync by default without my input, but at least that part is simple enough for me to get over it).
Then, check out your settings... Apps >> Settings >> Accounts and sync
Do you have Background data and Auto-sync checked? these are crucial, though i think Auto-sync is what should fix this.
Then select your gmail account just below that. Make sure everything is checked. Calendar could be unchecked by default, thus not syncing. I can't remember what's checked out of the box.
Then, I suggest adding the Power Control widget to one of your home screens (I don't know if this is installed by default, I've downloaded and removed too much to remember it all ). The 4th box is the Auto-sync toggle. I need my battery to last all day, so I have this off until I can actually use the stuff, like email, etc.
You can either leave it on at all times and deal with minor battery loss (i think it's minor, tomorrow I'm testing how much battery it will consume leaving on). Or you can toggle it as needed like i do, and when on, it will sync up the calendar, along with everything else. This may not solve your problem, but it sounds reasonable to me. I might be in the same boat as you if I hadn't read a lifehacker article about the Power Control widget and syncing my google stuff.
Let us know how it goes
I have exactly the same problem and I have been trying to fix it all week!
Seems everything is right but nothing will sync, it says it has but my calender is nowhere to be seen, can anybody help I have even factory reset to try again today...

Rereading some of this.... It seems like you are seeing Google events on teh phone, but phone events are not showing up in Google.
Probably the issue is the events are created on the phone (by default) in "my calendar" not in the google calendar. 2.2 fixes this, but 2.1 (the stock build and the recent update) make all entries go into "my calendar" by default. You can change this via a drop down, but you have to do it for every calendar entry you create on the phone.
I have everything in my sync and also configured in my facebook settings to receive the notifications....But so far, I just receive one time...Is set to sync every 30min...But it worked one time only....
I know that is a know issue, I just would like to know if someone know how to fix that...
I wanted to receive notifications when i have messages, comments and new requests....
I just configured everything in the facebook settings on my phone...is still not working....
You did know you can activate your phone through Facebook to receive sms notifications.
Sign into Facebook>Account>Account Settings>Mobile Tab
See if that will do what you want. Facebook sync is meh at best.
Added: "Standard messaging rates apply"
Facebook notification is badly broken across all android phones and there's no excuse for it

yeah i wish we had the iphones facebook notifications..the only good thing about the iphone lol
So still no fix for this? My notifications worked before the most recent Facebook app update. Way to go, Facebook.
If you use Hotmail for facebook, Just sync it via EAS in
Settings > Accounts and sync > Add account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
You will get notifications via hotmail instantly.

Guys, I know this is an old thread but I want to see if someone can confirm that notifications work with this facebook apk.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200174
It is a blacked out version which I honestly think is better without notifications, but I started getting them after installing. So if anyone could confirm it works for them, great! If not, I got lucky and at least we have a cooler looking version of facebook.
Hey all,
I've been trying to figure this out for the past day and I haven't come to any conclusions yet, but has anyone else noticed social apps (like facebook and twitter) are not recieving push notifications? I get push notifications for gmail and other google apps, but I've been noticing that I'm not getting push notifications for other apps. I know there should be settings in the apps themselves, and my room mate who has a samsung stratosphere is able to receive push notifications no problem.
I haven't had any problems with my Facebook notifications. I don't use the stock Twitter client, so can't comment on that, but FB pops up for everything I have it set to notify.
No issues for me either.
I use messenger for my messages, and it's notifications are spot on. Everything else, works as it should.
I also don't use the regular twitter client, so I can't help you on that on.
For some reason, I'm not getting any notification/alerts for my calendar items (15 minutes). Anyone else having this issue?

Yes, no notifications from calendar, or push e-mail. It's like it's not even happening, but when I open the apps things refresh and then my info is there. It's driving me crazy.

So push email notifications were working for me. I think I managed to fix the calendar, go into calendar settings and make sure your alerts or notifications are on. for all calendars. For some reason you have to choose the calendar. After that restart your phone, it should work. This might even work for your push email.
